come on focus on me focus on me a banana by chicken taco seasoning they don't mean they put chicken so i thought it was gonna be a very big banana but it's not hey guys it's rose and welcome back to cheap lazy vegan and another video guys i have upgraded my equipment got myself a camera remote i know i'm officially a youtuber so today guys i want to show you guys some vegan snack ideas and not just some why did i say some i mean 10 10 vegan snack ideas that are not only easy they are lazy they are also high protein snack ideas don't say i don't do anything for you okay some of these are gonna be lazier than others so pick and choose whichever one you want based on your level of laziness but hopefully these are helpful to you guys so originally i was actually gonna do just my standard usual how i do my recipe videos just film myself making it edit it do a voiceover all that jazz but you know what you guys seem to really like when i make a fool of myself in the kitchen so i thought i would do kind of like a cooking show style you see so i got my assistant with me my canon g7x she's not always reliable but she still does the job okay so before we get started guys just a quick let's make some vegan snacks alright friends so the first snack idea is going to be no surprise to anybody that watches my channel edamame beans these are the best snack ever they are high in protein for half a cup you're getting 90 calories and 9 grams of protein and they taste awesome they are so easy to prepare because they usually come in this like lovely frozen package and all you have to do is just throw it out i add them into meals i have them as snacks and they are just a really great source of protein pour it into a nice little bowl and then i just like to add a little splash of water and then i just microwave it for about a minute and then i mix it up the reason why i add the water is because otherwise it'll dry out a little bit so yeah you can get these in the frozen section of your grocery store either in the health food section or wherever they keep like frozen vegetables and i like to buy the ones that are shelled and by shelled i mean that they have been taken out of the shell okay i used to get a little confused with the wording like shelled sounds like it still has the shell you know like they're shelled but shell but shelled basically means that it's been taken out of the show so you might want to use a bowl that doesn't get so hot so yeah i just like to mix it around a little bit and see how it looks and then i usually do for another minute or so usually after two minutes it works alright pretty much done there might be a little bit of water left but that's okay you can drain that so it's pretty much ready to go but all i do is just add a little bit of salt and then mix it sometimes i go a little crazy and i add a little bit of garlic salt which basically is just salt and garlic powder which guys it's so good okay mix that and there you go super high protein snack you just eat it with a spoon oh my god this is the best snack if you go to a japanese sushi restaurant they'll charge you like six dollars for like a small bowl of not even shelled but edamame beans in the shell except to do the work take it out and you get less whereas you could just eat this at home all right guys so now we are on to idea number two these are chickpea cookies and by chickpea cookies i mean chickpea cookies these are cookies made of chickpeas these are no flour cookies i have an entire video on this and these make a perfect high protein delicious snack you'd be very surprised that these are chickpeas that are in this snack i actually made this the other day i made them a little bit different from the video that i have already which by the way is linked down below i made them a little bit different because i wanted to see if i can add a little protein powder and how it would taste so i did add some protein powder and it's still good don't get me wrong but it's not as good of course as when it's just the chickpeas so these are the ones with protein powder and i also added a little bit of white chocolate vegan white chocolate and let's let's eat one it's still good kind of fudgy i think i do have the measurements for this particular recipe so i'll have that down below but it's slightly different from the original chickpea cookie recipe a little bit higher in protein i altered the ingredients a little bit um but the method is the same so you can pick whichever one you want to do but yeah those are chickpea cookies and they're delicious actually all right guys my third snack idea is something i actually saw on tick tock and i was like i need to try this i mean it could be a snack or lunch if you are not like me and have a relatively normal appetite but what you do is you take a tortilla wrap i have a very big one you can obviously do this with smaller ones again i haven't tried this what you do is you just cut like halfway through just one little line okay like so and then what you do is you just add little ingredients into each quarter so i've got some lovely hummus here this is actually homemade hummus my mom made this hummus and it's pretty much mostly just chickpeas that's what hummus is basically so that's another you know high protein ingredient that you can use so that's why i'm using that so i'm using a little bit of hummus or a lot of hummus and i'm just going to spread it on one quarter oh you know what i'm going to do oh guys i am a genius not really i have some old you know sad looking avocado i'm going to mash some of that in brown avocado matters too okay and then on top of the avocado i'm actually gonna add tomatoes so the third quarter here i'm gonna add some tempeh now i'm supposed to like cook this up but i feel like it's fine if you don't it's not gonna kill you it's just soy beans what are you gonna do so then what you want to do is fold it oh my god i'm scared okay fold it like so again you might want to use a smaller wrap this one's huge ooh it's happening guys okay last minute decision i'm also going to add some spinach okay this is really like more of a small meal than a snack but you know what for me it'd be potentially a snack oh my god this is so like revolutionary all right friends here it is i mean this is for sure a meal but here it is so i just i don't have like a sandwich press so i just put it on a pan it's gonna be good right shall shall i try it hmm this is genius what's not to like wow that was so good i mean if you don't like tempeh you can add in other uh forms of protein but that was super delicious all right guys so i'm going to now make the next snack idea which i'm also very excited about we're going to use some baked beans so i'm just using the heinz beans original so you just want to make sure when you are buying baked beans that they are vegan so just check the ingredients list quickly some of them happen to have some sort of animal products the heinz original is vegan in tomato sauce so what i'm gonna do is prepare some tacos here's a tortilla so i like soft tacos that's my jam we're gonna take some of that nasty avocado we're gonna mash this in see it becomes less nasty once you start mashing it i have the rest of this tomato that i can just chop up and then just scoop out you can heat this up if you want but i feel like you don't have to there you go make as many of these as you want okay this is like super lazy but it works guys you can roll it up like a what do you call these things you can roll it up you can eat it like a taco hmm why wouldn't you do this it's a little messy all right guys so the next snack idea is going to be three ingredient cookies so we are making oat banana peanut butter cookies yes deliciousness and i actually made this in my vegan hacks video which i'll link down below a few years ago this time i want to use some pb2 so this is what's going to give it extra protein so this is a powdered peanut butter and this is basically a uh powdered form of peanut butter i know obvious but basically it has less fat than original peanut butter and it has i think a little bit more protein so basically for two tablespoons it's 60 calories and six grams of protein which is pretty good so that's what i'm going to be using to make this a little bit more protein heavy oh i mean what's the protein content in the oats i mean oats are also not too bad it's about four grams of protein for a third cup and that's going to be 110 calories so we're gonna mix together these two plus a banana and those are the three ingredients so first what you want to do is mash up one ripe banana now this isn't as ripe as i would like it i feel like this banana is scamming us all the skin on this is very thick so i thought it was gonna be a very big banana but it's not so i just like to mash it with a fork oh my god this is not ripe enough where there's a will there's a way if the banana is a bit riper it's gonna be a lot easier to mash it's probably gonna be a bit tastier but that's okay all right add a quarter cup which is about four tablespoons of the pb2 and then we're gonna add in let's start with half a cup of rolled oats i'm gonna mix this up i'm probably gonna need to add some more oats so far it's looking like a disaster if you want also you can actually grind up the oats to make an oat flour so that's up to you if you want like less chunks and it to be more smooth that's totally your choice i've done it both ways and i think it's good either way just depends on your preference i might add a little bit more oat maybe about two more tablespoons i think it's pretty good so right now i have the oven preheating at 350 degrees fahrenheit shade thick i have a baking sheet let's just spoon these they're probably gonna be ugly i'm not gonna lie but you know what it's not about what it looks like okay guys and of course you can double this recipe if you want to make more i would probably usually make about double this recipe actually but because i'm making so many snacks i don't want to have a million snacks available to me at all times during these trying times so we're making really little ones but you can obviously make bigger ones if you want so what i'm gonna do also guys you guys are like those are not cookies they look like balls okay so what i like to do with cookies i have to dip a fork in a little water and i just mash it down they're not the prettiest but stop judging by the cover okay and of course you can add in you know anything else that you want to add maybe add in like blueberries oh actually that's a good idea i got blueberries let's add some blueberries let's add like oh god was it was that a bad idea nope it's not a bad idea i'll add two just two per cookie that's fun look at that all right guys so i'm gonna throw these in the oven at 350 degrees fahrenheit i'm gonna bake them for 10 minutes i'll be right back oh guys look at that these look pretty decent i think putting the blueberries was a great idea you can also add some chocolate chips on top if you want you do want to use some non-stick parchment paper or in my case i'm using a reusable baking liner so yeah i think it'll take a few more minutes maybe about 10 minutes to cool but here are the blueberry peanut butter banana cookies and um yeah these are just a really quick healthy lazy sort of snack there you go since we have the oven going already the next snack is going to also involve the oven and i'm also going to be using these bad boys again these tortilla wraps these gigantic things right here i'm going to use two we're going to make nachos not nachos what are they like yes nachos so we're just going to chop these up not chop these up i'm going to slice them up into i don't know little pieces bite-sized pieces guys you can slice them up however way you want i'm just going to do whatever as i usually do what am i even doing i want to make them pretty come on i'm trying to make them into like nacho shapes you know what i'm saying like triangles slice slice don't worry if it's ugly because mine are ugly and it's gonna be fine this is also a great way to use up your like wraps if you have extra and you're like i don't really want another wrap i'd rather have nachos so now we've got our chip shaped tortilla wraps that we've cut up we're going to take half a tablespoon of oil just drizzle and then you can just take your hands and just kind of massage them in to each piece there's no real method of doing this it's just whatever you know what i'm going to lay these out flat here we are my friends so we're just going to kind of spread it out as best as we can they can overlap a little bit but they should be kind of spread out it's like dealing a deck of cards so now we gotta season it guys first let's do of course garlic salt i'm just going to eyeball it guys doesn't have to be perfect you can add any seasonings that you want by the way whatever you want be creative and then you guys nutritional yeast my friends so for those of you that don't know nutritional yeast is actually quite high in protein for what it is for one tablespoon is 20 calories and two grams of protein so that means for two tablespoons is four grams of protein or three tablespoons it's six grams of protein so i'm just gonna gently add a little bit of nutritional yeast on top of each lovely chip okay so we used about one and a half tablespoons of nutrition yeast for this whole thing so i'm gonna throw this in the oven for 10 minutes at 350 degrees fahrenheit yeah let's go all right guys so the chips are done i baked them for a total of about 13 minutes i believe so after 10 minutes i baked them a little bit longer and of course if you want to make these a little bit higher in protein you can serve them with some lovely hummus and of course you can serve them with some guacamole or you gotta have the salsa as well guys come on let's be real and there you have it these are the chips really easy quick way to make some healthier chips and um they're baked nice and crispy nice and cheesy from the nutritional yeast you can dip them in hummus you could dip them in salsa so good so good guys it's so good they're so good try it guys highly recommend trying this out super good with hummus supergirl with salsa super good with hummus and salsa as you can see i have a kettle yes this is important i've lost count of how many we've done so far but the next one is going to be buffalo soy curls so soy curls are these bad boys these are dehydrated pieces of soy meat they are like my favorite thing so they are dehydrated which means they need hydration so we're gonna add some water to soak these babies up now my little trick to make these uh soften faster is to add hot water so i'm using some boiled water here that's why i'm holding a kettle guys see i thought this through okay so i like to let this sit for about five minutes if you use like room temperature water you can probably soak them for about 10 minutes and then they will soften up in the meantime you can prepare some celery all right guys so that honestly wasn't even five minutes and i think they are pretty much softened so i have a pan here yes we have a legit cooking show what i like to do is add some vegan butter now you can use just regular oil if you want sometimes i do this without any oil but we're gonna make it a little extra tasty so we're gonna add about half a tablespoon of vegan butter i'm just gonna melt that nicely so i made about 30 grams of dry soy curls once you soak them they do expand let's add this this is like one of my favorite high protein snacks because it's so easy and it's like having junk food but it's like really not so bad for you and again if you want to be a little bit healthier you can just use a non-stick pan and don't add any like vegan butter or oil so i like to cook it until the soy pieces start to brown so it is absorbing the butter quite nicely now and it should start to brown pretty soon and guys you could also air fry these as well and it'll be a little bit crispier this is just the laziest version because the airfryer i do have to take it out you know and it probably would taste better with an airfryer but this is me being extra lazy so all right so now as you can see it is nicely browned this is how i like it okay and now i have turned off the heat this part i guess is pretty optional but i like to add of course garlic salt do i cook with anything else probably not gotta add some layers and now of course for the magical ingredient frank's red hot sauce or whatever buffalo sauce of your choosing so i usually just kind of pre-pour i think everyone's you know tolerance level with spice is different put however much you want however little you want i like it pretty red and i'll link down below where you can get these soy curls i live in canada so for those of you that live in canada i will leave some information about where i get mine there you go that's the kind of color i like you know like that you might sneeze excuse me all right guys let's plate this buffalo soy curl time you can of course serve them with a little side of celery and there you go there it is very very easy simple snack so good i like to add extra franks rings can't go wrong one more bite the next recipe is going to be a very simple one so i'm going to take just half a cup of chickpeas let's try our luck with this avocado it doesn't feel good guys feels like it's going to disappoint me yep i knew it why why i'd like a refund we can still use this what we want to do is take a fork and just mash up our chickpeas so this is just canned chickpeas so they're quite soft and what you want to do with canned chickpeas is you want to drain the water and then rinse it thoroughly okay apparently that helps i don't know with the gas situation y'all know what i'm talking about hash mash mash then let's take our ugly quarter of an avocado ugh cannot film under these conditions a quarter of an avocado we're going to mash that in there you could also just use vegan mayo use avocado and vegan mayo if you want the options are endless you can also season it however way you want i'm gonna add a little bit of lemon juice bring out the freshness you can use fresh lemon it's probably better and then you know go wild i have some black pepper and of course my favorite garlic salt by the way if you don't have garlic salt you just use salt and garlic same thing and then we are going to take one of these rice cakes crispy minnie's original kind the brown rice cake we're not talking about the really delicious korean rice cakes we're talking about these dry rice cakes but they make a good base for whatever you want to eat on top okay so let's just this makes a good snack because again the rice cake works as a nice base so you can add kind of whatever you want on top and then i like to always add a little greenery on top a little green onion on top you can add some cilantro as well that is another little snack idea high protein really simple really easy so next recipe guys i'm actually really excited to try this but i haven't actually tried it yet i have a vision in my head so hopefully we can make this happen into a food processor i'm gonna add the blades here very important we're gonna add a quarter cup of non-dairy milk and then we're gonna add one 12 ounce block of extra firm tofu i'm just gonna break it up let's add one teaspoon each of garlic powder onion powder and turmeric you know what let's also throw in a tablespoon of nutritional yeast one tablespoon of lemon juice so now i'm just going to blend this up you guys are like what are we making rose you'll find out all right so the kitchen is looking more and more like a disaster okay what's a okay so the next thing we're gonna use is two pieces of sun-dried tomato about two to three pieces of sun-dried tomato i'm using the one that's like sitting in oil this is going to add some nice flavor a little bit of saltiness a little bit of oiliness and of course we have that lovely tofu mixture that is blended nicely and i realized i forgot to add salt we will add it so you have this lovely tofu mixture it's starting to look very eggy as you can see here so let's throw the tofu mixture into a mixing bowl this one is obviously a little bit more labor intensive than the other recipes but this is a good like make ahead so you can have snacks throughout the week all right now let's throw in the sun-dried tomatoes and we're going to throw in some frozen mixed vegetables okay so half a cup frozen let's add another half a cup so a total of one cup of frozen mixed veggies please make sure you always have frozen mixed vegetables or just frozen vegetables in general in your freezer they are so convenient so now what i'm going to do is i'm actually going to add some salt and pepper let's do like a teaspoon oh oh god that's a lot maybe half a teaspoon of pepper i don't mind lots of pepper but that was quite a bit so i would say about half a teaspoon of salt half a teaspoon of pepper mix that rose what is this concoction you're making you're about to find out so i have these mini baking what do you call these baking cups so i'm gonna use these and basically what we're making guys i'll tell you now are little tofu bites okay i got the idea from a frittata i made a few months ago i did a video where i was making that so it's kind of similar to that but a little bit lazier so i'm actually going to take a tablespoon i'm wetting the tablespoon and then i'm going to just try and there you go so you can shape these into however way you want the last time i made them into like little muffins this time i'm making them into really little muffins i really need a mini ice cream scoop you know what i mean okay guys so while i was making these i realized there's an easier way to do this so all i do is have a bowl of water wet my hands a little bit and then just take my hands just use my hands okay hands are the best tool okay and then just place them like that and you can place them on a non-stick parchment paper non-stick baking liner if you do want to make them pretty you can still stick them in what do you call these muffin cups baking cups so you can still do the same thing just plop it in there it's a lot easier to just use your hands okay so we're making these into little tofu balls tofu balls tofu bites you can add these into your meals not just have it as a snack all right guys so there we have these lovely balls tofu bites whatever you want to call them oh my god guys i've been filming for so long it's starting to get dark fantastic anyway i'm gonna throw these in the oven at 350 degrees fahrenheit it's already heated let's start with 20 minutes and see what happens [Music] as you can see i'm a bit exhausted it's been a very long filming process anyway this is going to be the final recipe okay this should be the 10th one if it's not make some veggies and hummus there you go there is my 10th idea if this happens to be the ninth just make veggies and hummus that's my tenth idea okay okay so we wanna make some lentil tacos so we are working with red split lentils so you can use whatever lentils you want i thought i had some canned lentils which would have made this even easier because these are dry so we do have to cook them up however red split lentils are very very quick to cook compared to like green lentils or brown lentils so if you want like really cook really cook see i can't even talk really quick lentils i would always have some bread split lentils with me at all times okay first thing i'm gonna do is soak them in some hot water so i got some water boiling in a kettle there so let's put a third cup of red split lentils in a bowl and i'm gonna put the equal amount of water so third cup of water and we're gonna let that sit i'm actually gonna cover it up as well just with the plate just to let the steam you know work its magic and i like to let it sit for about 10 15 minutes and then they should be really really quick why do i keep saying cook why they should be really quick to cook is what i meant to say all right guys so i'll be honest it hasn't been a full 10 minutes but you know what it's already absorbed all the oil uh all the oils guys i can't talk it's absorbed everything all the water but it's still you know not completely soft so we can finish the cooking on the pan i'm gonna add another third cup of water bring this to a boil so we're gonna cook this up allow it to cook while the lentils are cooking i'm just gonna chop up quickly some tomato and i'm also gonna use this little chili pepper there we go and guys when you're cooking the lentils keep checking to see how much water is being absorbed this looks like it's almost done so they should be soft but slightly crunchy to season our lentils i'm gonna use some taco seasoning i have this like chicken taco seasoning and by chicken taco seasoning they don't mean they put chicken so the seasoning itself is vegan so i'm gonna start with one teaspoon of the taco seasoning you know what let's do two teaspoons so this one just has a bunch of spices already in here you know what i'm gonna turn the heat off i think these lentils are pretty much done let's try this two teaspoons good amount not too salty just a good amount all right so now we can assemble our taco and again you can make this into a meal if you want to make multiple tacos or you can have multiple tacos as a snack no one's stretching taco shell now i think you're supposed to heat this up but i don't care some of that nasty avocado the disappointment i'm going to mash that and you can also add some like lemon juice on top as well too lazy for that right now i'm going to add some tomato little layer of tomato lovely bring out some of that lentil goodness and then we can top with those red peppers and of course you can add whatever you want to your little taco there you go and of course you can top with some black pepper if you want oh i forgot one last very important ingredient salsa so i'm just going to top with that there's a snack there's a snack guys so again you can make multiple you can enjoy two three four five six however many you want makes a great snack all right you guys so as you can see here the lighting has been compromised very heavily so can you even see me is it focused on me come on focus on me focus on me
