but hidden people quattro pam pretty cheap looking to be really on sis you you can imagine why those who purchase the collector's edition with certain expectations might find this to be a pretty scummy move on Bethesda's part so it is pretty thin like you can almost see through it you see that when you hold it to the light i also open to be a little bit thicker than damages me not enough to control a particular browser or to be on a machine or forget about the food not that i make their you could pick the definition of the thing i think that i'm not eat up here so you're gonna notice that there's some really odd stuff in here and this is why I wanted to unbox one of these for you guys this is a true like baby bib like the back here I don't know if this camera will pick it up but I know that this guy gets probably not the best quality made so that's not gonna wear them and one thing I don't like about this is it is very cheap and cheesy you can see here they try to make it look all rough looking and it's just it's pretty bad I'm Batman [Music] the debacle that was fallout 76 power armor edition is just the most recent embarrassment when it comes to disappointing collector's editions and this got me thinking about all the terrible special editions that have come out before some of them were borderline scams and others just fell completely short of what they promised to deliver in this video I'll be going over 10 of the most overpriced overhyped and underwhelming collector's editions of games throughout the years and we might as well start with fallout 76 as it is one of the most poorly handled rollouts of a collector's edition in a long time first announced at e3 2018 fallout 76 looked like a promising entry in the beloved Fallout series capitalizing on this Bethesda decided to cash in in the form of announcing a pricey special edition fallout 76 power armor edition was priced at 199 US dollars and was released the same day as the normal game on November 14th 2018 the hype train for fallout 76 quickly came crashing down as fans realized that the game was a buggy incomplete half-assed multiplayer disaster country roads take me home more like take me to a finished [ __ ] game what were they thinking if the game itself wasn't disappointing enough to the loyal fans who bought the power armor Edition they were also in for quite the letdown when it came to other items in the bundle namely the canvas bag customers were sent which was made out of a flimsy nylon material and looks nothing like the bag shown in promotions to add insult to injury many youtubers and influencers who got an early version of the game received a much nicer canvas bag one that much more closely resembles what fans were promised clearly Bethesda had their priorities in order by trying to suck up to online influencers rather than pleased their core fans as compensation for all of this bethesda offered $5 of in-game currency to customers who purchased the bundle unsurprisingly fans were still outraged as $5 of in-game currency for a game they didn't even like was not enough finally on December 3rd 2018 Bethesda would announce a sensible solution for their angry customers their PR executive Simon baldock announced the following attention to fallout fans your canvas bags they were pretty shitty they're going to need our help in order to send real bags all we're gonna need is your personal information your phone number home address and full name but you've gotta be quick our Chinese Factory is running low on linen as if Bethesda couldn't give any fewer [ __ ] somehow their support team managed to leak the addresses and personal information of the customers who are set to receive their new canvas bags and I'd like to imagine Todd Howard personally ordered this to be done on purpose to teach follow-up fans a lesson for all their whining it probably went down something like this oh oh you guys thought it was done huh do you think this is a [ __ ] game you think you can complain about my [ __ ] game and get away with it I mean I'm selling a game but if you want to play hardball we'll play hardball addresses names phone numbers support team you know what to do yeah yeah that I'll teach him thanks Todd okay moving on Dead Island is a series that was originally developed by a company called tech land and interestingly enough Dead Island Riptide was the last game in the series developed by Tech land and it may have been in part due to a scandal surrounding the zombie bait addition of the game which cost 160 US dollars this edition included a weapon Pack DLC collector's artwork and of course the item all gamers wants a grotesque and mutilated statue of a woman's bloodied torso almost immediately after announcing this the developers caught a wave of backlash with media personalities and consumers who called it gross and tasteless just hours after announcing the bundle Deep Silver the publisher issued an apology hilariously though the zombie bait Edition was still sold in Europe and Australia despite the company issuing the statement that we want to reiterate to the community fans and industry how deeply sorry we are and that we are committed to making sure this will never happen again in contrast to Techland Treyarch seemed to go out of their way to make sure their special edition of call of duty world at war was as tame as possible and it still backfired released on November 11th 2008 call of duty world at war collector's edition came with codes for double experience a metal tin and a steel canteen all for the relatively low price of $80 the canteen was a great idea it's fitting with the world war ii era and finally gamers could discreetly drink their alcoholic beverage of choice while gaming truly a dream come true wait what's that the canteen doesn't open well at least you can display it on your shelf no no it doesn't even stand up ok so it's basically a useless chunk of metal that has Call of Duty written on it yeah that this sucks thanks Treyarch you know what doesn't suck an exclusive collector's edition goodie box by our friends at Capcom Resident Evil 7 biohazard really lived up to its name with the collector's edition released on January 24th 2017 which included a metal case a VHS tape box a lithograph photo a bloody finger shaped USB Drive a creepy note and finally a replica model mansion music box all for the price of one hundred and eighty dollars us now first of all it seems like someone just threw a bunch of discount miscellaneous objects from a Halloween store and put it into this box the creepy note looks like a replica piece of gas station toilet paper with scribbles on it the USB stick is just a cheap dollar store USB with a plastic finger on it and most gamers probably have more USB drives around their desk than they know what to do with the tin and VHS box I mean ok I guess the photo looks kind of cool but the mansion surely steals the show for this edition right well sort of you see the mansion would have been a great showpiece if not for the many problems that had with manufacturing in both the UK and US many of the mansion's were defective or didn't work properly and some people even claimed that their mansion had a horrendous chemical smell lingering from it I guess Capcom wanted to deliver the most authentic biohazard experience possible these issues cause the product to be canceled and refunded in the UK and it faced delays for us customers next on the list is Perfect Dark zero collector's edition which came out November 22nd 2005 now if there's one thing gamers love to do its read and what's the best way to get gamers to buy a book they don't care about well obviously by including a chapter of a book they don't care about in the game developpers rare included a bonus DVD a medal game case a holographic card a comic book 'lets xbox live avatars and the first chapter of the games tie-in novel now I'm not saying this package was the worst deal ever costing only a $60 US I mean holographic cards were huge in the early 2000s that alone made this orphan I do find it kind of hilarious though that the one preview chapter of the book basically served as an advertisement that fans were paying for also look out for my full review of perfect dark initial vector coming out soon Rocksteady Studios must have also been disappointed in the single chapter included in Perfect Dark zero as collectors edition because in their $200 Batmobile edition of Arkham nights they included three books an art book a comic book and a steelbook take that rare oh and also a Batmobile that was so poorly made that they had to refund all sales and the bundle was ultimately cancelled three books the Batmobile edition was set to be released on June 23rd 2015 along with the game but as I mentioned there were issues when it came to manufacturing and apparently the product did not meet quality standards so it had to be canceled and those who purchased it were refunded however I came across a youtuber named game Lutz who somehow got his hands on the unreleased Batmobile edition and he actually unboxed it the Batmobile he has seems to be functional and of pretty decent quality it's a shame this bundle never made it to most customers because I think it actually would have made for a great collector's item next up is a game that actually did deliver its limited edition and yet somehow I'm still left with more questions than answers as far as I can tell sorcery saga curse of the curry God is a dungeon crawler weeb game with a curry food theme developed by compiled heart and released on December 10th 2013 for the PlayStation Vita of all things the limited edition package for this game was called hot and spicy everything nice e limited edition and if you think that's a mouthful just wait until you try the curry first of all this is a rare example of a limited edition game being made for a handheld console which is pretty spicy in and of itself but developers compile Hart took it a step further and took notes out of Capcom's book by also taking a trip to the dollar store to pick up the items they included in this limited edition which were as follows a cheap plastic spoon a small plastic plate with the game's art on it and a custom-made bib designed specifically for man children weeaboo trash all for the affordable price of 50 US dollars sign me up one thing I can say is that compile Hart certainly knows how to cater to their fans aside from being kind of bizarre this limited edition does serve a practical purpose you can play sorcery saga curse at the curry God while lying in your bed eating your curry without any of the mess or clean up thanks to this handy dandy bin tapping into a similar demographic Lionhead Studios fable 2 enjoyed a lot of hype when it was released on October 21st 2008 trying to capitalize on this hype Lionhead Studios made plans to release a limited edition of the game that was announced to include a bobblehead fable themed tarot cards and a making of DVD priced at $90 u.s. originally but just like every fable game Peter Molyneux developed this limited-edition over-promised and under-delivered publishers Microsoft apparently ran it to some supply chain issues which basically means oh [ __ ] we forgot to order them oops and as a result shortly before its release the limited edition had to cut the bobblehead and taro cards also slashing the price down to $69 u.s. I came across a forum thread from 2008 where many fans seemed excited about buying the limited edition specifically about getting the bobblehead and they must have been disappointed when they found out all they would end up receiving was a making dvd you could watch online and a bunch of download codes for small DLC items even after the budget cut limited edition though Microsoft still found a way to screw over customers many customers who bought the limited edition did not receive the download codes for in-game items Microsoft put out a statement acknowledging this mistake and offered a solution if you have purchased a copy of the fable to limited collector's edition that appears to be missing the DLC card please enter your Windows Live ID here and once again they got them ladies and gentlemen we got him not I'm just I'm just kidding hey that'd be funny though if it was the next game was based on one of the most legendary filmmakers of all time a name tied to the greatest cinematic masterpieces of an era that's right I'm talking about John Woo and more specifically his game John woos stranglehold which kind of sounds like a Brazilian Jujitsu move the game was developed by Midway produced by mr. Wu himself and released on September 7th 2007 for both the Xbox 360 and ps3 and of course there was a limited edition because the new fans would eat up anything with John woos name on it of course the limited edition was different for each console for $70 ps3 players got a blu-ray copy of John woos exhilarating an action-packed hit film hard-boiled included in their game disc xbox360 players received a behind-the-scenes documentary on Midway bringing the style of John Woo to videogames extended cutscenes concept art and an insider's look at sound design riveting however this limited edition included no copy of the hard-boiled film or any John Woo films for that matter conversely though the ps3 version included nothing but the hard-boiled blu-ray none of the extras found on the 360 version were on the ps3 version and since the film was on the game disc itself it was missing a few minor playback options you know like I don't know rewind fast-forward and slow motion but you know I guess that's not necessary anyways since the entire goddamn movie is in [ __ ] slow motion but at least you've got to experience the magical wonder of a timeless John Woo classic and making the final entry on this list is once again Capcom and with the same game series too this time with Resident Evil 6 the leather jacket edition which was released on October 6th 2012 now at first glance this collector's edition looks pretty sweet you get a replica genuine leather jacket based on the main characters in the game Leon you also get four custom tablet cases which you know weird inclusion but ok the leather jacket though I mean this is so useful and practical you could wear it for your Leone cosplay you know or you could just wear it for a night out on the town it's just a nice leather jacket who doesn't want that not only that but Capcom actually delivered this time with a quality product well I mean based on this guy's unboxing it looks kind of like flimsy and thin but nonetheless I mean it's it's a supposedly a leather jacket and you could trust that it's quality because the product was so good that it was actually endorsed by the development team who of course are well known for their cutting-edge sense of fashion however much like the Resident Evil 6 logo the leather jacket edition starts to look pretty messed up upon closer inspection the price of this deal was set at an absurd $1000 u.s. so that's $1,000 for the leather jacket for tablet cases and a video game considering the fact that you can buy the same leather jacket on ebay for as low as 115 dollars a reasonable markup price for this deal might have been something like two hundred and fifty dollars or three hundred dollars but no instead they decided to mark it up an insane six hundred dollars which is a four hundred and fifty percent markup from just buying the jacket and game separately that's not just a bad deal I'd call that a highway robbery you're effectively paying an extra $800 for four tablet cases that you'll probably never use and why are they giving away tablet cases anyways our Resident Evil fans avid tablet users do they really need four separate cases for their smart devices it seems like such a strange choice wait a second when they said tablet cases they meant they meant those kinds of tablets like like pills yes so by tablet cases it's actually containers for your opiate of choice based on in game healing item hey you see this game great game it's got everything in it running around shooting zombies yikes see these tablet cases they're great for protecting your tablets okay see this jacket genuine leather straight out of the [ __ ] jungles of Thailand now we can either do this the easy way or the hard way you pay me the small fee $1,000 it's all yours you walk away and I give my boy Todd Howard a little ring ring he'll make sure all your private information goes bye-bye capisce by the way in all seriousness the opioid crisis is a hugely important issue affecting millions of people we're overprescribed big pharma doesn't care about people's lives and only about their greed and money lining their pockets that being said I am glad that at least Capcom is bringing some attention to this epidemic thank you Plus look how stylish you look in this jacket mom said it's my turn on the PlayStation what do you buy in none of this [ __ ] that's for sure [Music]
