planes don't have to be expensive some of them sell for peanuts and we have a list of the 10 that do just make sure to look around and do some research before buying hi my name is james and here are the 10 cheapest airplanes anyone can buy let's dive right into it shall we we all know the mooney because of the 201 model that's the one that goes to 201 miles per hour and all of that is thanks to roy lopresti but this model is expensive and can't really be a part of this list right well not so fast buckaroo you're forgetting all about the models that came before the 201 revolution remember the m20 that was the aircraft that was mediocre at best and had these three models first was the ranger then came the chaparral and finally we had the executive the first two are still being hunted down for their bargain basement prices and of course performance if you look around we're sure you'll find the chaparral for a decent price starting at around forty thousand dollars and bear in mind that these things come with the 200 horsepower lycoming engine which has a range of about 600 nautical miles a useful load of a thousand pounds and of course 160 knot cruise speed when you have an ultralight in the house you know we're talking about dirt cheap prices and decent performance don't expect a 150 knock cruise speed which is actually a good thing especially when you take into account that many of these aircraft don't require a flying license to operate the quicksilver is no exception you don't need a license to operate this small two-seater the body's built from aluminum tubes and the wing and tail are made from sailcloth and if you're looking at a standard model then finding a two-stroke rotax engine inside isn't going to be surprising if you're looking to buy a new one the prices tend to revolve around the 15 000 mark and for a used plane that's in good condition that price will drop to about five thousand dollars any cheaper than that and you don't want to start flying make sure you keep on watching because at number six we have an aircraft that starts at seventeen thousand dollars and there are three versions of the same model just look at this beauty even though it's been built from 1946 to 1950 it's still considered a gem built by the stinson aircraft company in just four years the company has managed to build about 5 000 planes and they've garnered a niche following why because the plane has a steel tube fuselage and all of it is fabric covered now because it has a powerful franklin 165 horsepower engine inside this four seater can actually reach a cruise speed of 110 miles per hour and yes all of you heard there's a useful load of about 1100 pounds you guys are absolutely right recently people have been fitting them with more powerful engines which allow them to compete with the likes of the cessna 182 and the piper 235 finally if you've decided to get yourself one of these sleek looking planes then expect to pay by smashing that like button if you haven't done so already but no in reality you can expect to pay between twenty eight thousand and thirty eight thousand dollars okay over ten thousand people can't be wrong because that's how many models piper aircraft has managed to build of the cherokee 140 before production stopped for good in 1977 after 13 years of production here's why the plane blew the competition out of the water we're looking at you cessna 150 you see this plane was reliable and easy to handle the price tag was very low but more on that later inside the 140 there was a four cylinder lycoming o320 engine that has 140 horsepower and yes it seats two people some of the newer models do go up to 150 horsepower and have the capacity to carry four people and on top of all that you have a cruise speed of 108 knots you might as well be flying a fighter jet for that price speaking of which if you're looking at a used 140 you'll probably get one for only twenty one thousand dollars that's not for the four seaters it's for the 140 horsepower models with two seats and a luggage bench in the back here's what the evolution of the silver looks like 8c 8e then 8f those 3 models were all created in an eight year period the first one the hc started production back in the 1940s now bear in mind that people often make the mistake of thinking that all less combs with two seats are silvers but this is simply not the case the first one was the 8c and it came with the fuel injected continental a75 8j engine and 75 horsepower then just six years later we had the ad this one has 85 horsepower rear windows and an open compartment the standard fuel tank was 12.5 or sometimes 15 gallons and because it consumed about 5.5 gallons per hour you could fly this bad boy for about two and a half to three hours without needing to land it now the cruise speed is what surprised us a little as the plane reached 100 knots and finally the 90 horsepower version of the silver was introduced in 1948 under the name of silver 8f all of the models can carry 400 pounds on top of a full fuel tank but the price varies from model to model the first two the hc and the 8e are pretty cheap the first one runs about 17 000 for a used model while the 80 is about 18 500. the 8f is in a league of its own and you'll have to shell out about 26 000 if you want to get it still that's nothing compared to the price of new aircraft models they call it a gem in the industry partly because it's one of the rarest aircraft to find available for resale and partly because this plane is so nicely built it actually looks like a gem for those of you that want a little history we'll just tell you that this is the plane that beechcraft designed in order to take over the training game from cessna as you can clearly see this one is a low winger and has that iconic tea tale from the 70s frankly we're not that big fans of the t-tail but back in the day every small plane had one anyways you should know that there were only 300 models built from the skipper and finding one is the toughest part of the job once you find them then the price will be about 25 000 which is a steal considering how good the plane really is and just make sure you keep watching until the very end because we have two of the most popular and classic cheap aircraft that are sold by the thousands while some of you might be confused as to why we chose to group these two planes in one package we did it because these two are basically the same plane with some different specs in the beginning the planes were being powered by the continental six cylinder o300 engine but then in 1968 cessna turned to lycoming and they've never looked back since now as you might know the 170 stopped production in 1956 and the 172 took its place boy was this a good decision on the company's part you see the 172 went on to become one of the most produced planes in aviation history with 50 000 built currently you can get this bad boy for a bargain price of about 27 000 back in the day the champ was the aircraft that was in direct competition with the j-3 i mean people were completely losing their minds over these two planes the champ had better visibility the j3 could be landed easily the champ required less attention when landing and on and on and on the main thing you should remember if you're in the market for a champ is that they can come in a variety of engines ranging from 65 horsepower to 95 horsepower and the price is moving at around the 25 000 mark for comparison that's still 10 000 cheaper than the j3 hey yes you don't forget to smash that like button and hit the notification bell the ercoop has been in production since the 1930s and it's been around for such a long time that we don't even notice just how outdated the model is in fact the ear coop is what we think of when we think of small aircraft now with production changing so often there have been 5 500 er coupes produced they're not really fast since they have a 90 horsepower engine in a cruise speed of 90 miles per hour the plane itself is all metal and the canopy slides back if you want to enjoy the air in your hair and if you're in the market for one just have eighteen thousand dollars put to the side and take a close look on these second-hand retail sites and finally we're going to be ending this list with one classic plane that has become synonymous with trainer aircraft the cessna 150 was introduced in the 50s and was a side-by-side two-seater that was easy to fly and land still students crash this one more than any other plane it could comfortably seat two lean people inside and some duffel bags as their luggage on top of that finding a cessna 150 is really easy since there were 25 000 models built the powertrain of the aircraft is a continental o200 engine which has 100 horsepower and consumes about 7 gallons per hour now because the engine and the plane are so common you can find spare parts in no time plus the price of a used model is only fifteen thousand dollars which we don't need to remind you is one hell of a bargain bye for now you
