your will my god your law is within my heart i proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly i do not seal my lips lord as you know i did not hide your righteousness in my heart i speak of your our praise the bible says that there is no name given among men and women whereby we must be saved except the name jesus we love that name around here and if you're grateful for jesus i wish you just celebrate jesus wherever you are whatever you're doing just take a moment to celebrate the jesus who has done so much in each and every one of our lives if you can't thank him for anything else you ought to be able to thank him for salvation because we're it not for the salvation that only jesus provides none of us would be in relationship with our god today we thank god for jesus thank god for this magnificent music ministry and for the wonderful ways by which they share with us each and every week i cannot thank god enough for them these gifted musicians these sainted singers i thank god for each one of you and i praise god for your giftedness and the utilization of your gifts in worship to all of these clergy who have shared with us today and even those who are in the sanctuary who have not uh been have not shared with us in the microphone they're praying even where they're sitting and we thank god for all of them and all you who walk by faith and not by sight it's good to be in church this day and we thank god for the privilege of such we're going to conclude our series of messages called what's new today what's new that's been our series for this past uh month as we began this month of january we looked at that passage of scripture and reminded us that if anyone is in christ that person's a new creation a new creature old things are passed away behold all things are become new and we thank god for that reality we thank god for the newness of life that we have in our god even last week we looked at isaiah chapter 43 where god says i will do a new thing in you don't you perceive it don't you see it on the second sunday we look at the lord jesus christ who says that you can't put old wine in new wine skins and so we've been looking at the newness that jesus christ and our god requires of us and today i call your attention back to that passage you heard the reverend dinkins read from psalm 40 my favorite book of the bible is the book of psalms and every now and then for comfort and encouragement i go to it and in this 40th psalm the 40th psalm you'll find these words at verse 3 psalm 40 beginning at verse 3. uh pastor dinkins read from the new international version of the holy word of god i want to read this just from the king james version i just want to read a portion of verse 3 that goes a little like this and he hath put a new song in my mouth that's enough amen praise god for his holy word and god hath put a new song in my mouth for the time that is hours of share together on this sunday i simply want to talk from the subject you already know what's new part four what's new part four we conclude our series with this question what's new and the fourth installment thereof this past week brothers and sisters was filled with newness wasn't it at the top of the list of new ness is our new president who came to his office with new priorities tuesday and wednesday he showed us a new picture of this country one with which we had not been quite familiar at least from the national perspective during the covet memorial on tuesday evening he used watch this an all black group of individuals to commemorate the lives of the more than 400 000 individuals who have lost their lives as a consequence of the virus known as coronavirus this pandemic this this covid19 and several of those who were commemorated a few of them at least were members of our congregation we were able to experience the ministry of the first black cardinal of the catholic church who led us in prayer and a powerful prayer it was we were able to experience our new vice president who spoke to the nation and encouraged us in the midst of the madness of this virus we met the young black nurse from the from the detroit area didn't we who went viral for singing amazing grace to the many covet patients on her unit there in detroit and of course houston's own yolanda adams sang hallelujah as we commemorated the lives of those 400 000 individuals in addition to our new president and our new vice president we were inspired weren't we by our new youth port laureate this 22 year old woman amanda gorman who shared her classic poem and her grace as she recited the hill we climb we enjoyed being introduced to this precious and powerful young woman who we should be able to look to in years to come to do great things in literature and even beyond as she claims that she will be the president of these united states as well we're excited about our new youth poet laureate and then we got new press briefings lord have mercy we haven't had press briefings since the month of november and we got new press briefings to keep us informed about that which is transpiring in our government the newness abounds as a consequence of this past week unfortunately all of the news wasn't good news though we were confronted with the new predicament that the jobless numbers the unemployment numbers in the united states of america right now are the worst that they have been since the presidency of franklin delano roosevelt fdr you remember when that was it was the 1930s the great depression the jobless numbers unemployment numbers have not been this bad since the 1930s and if that wasn't bad enough we must deal with the new pandemic variants that are more highly transmissible and the current statistics state that 60 of all new cases have occurred since election day in november that is getting worse not better the numbers are deplorable brothers and sisters which is why our beloved mayor and brother bow wow to had to have some words as a consequence of all those houstonians who just had to go out last weekend and had to enjoy themselves in the midst of this crisis my brothers and sisters newness has abound some of it was good news some of it wasn't that was bad news as a matter of fact as a consequence of these decisions to make our way into the streets and to party like rock stars and enjoy ourselves and find ourselves not doing what the medical professionals have asked us to do the expectation is that we will have to deal with no less than 500 000 casualties by this time next month in one month we can go from a little more than four hundred thousand to over five hundred thousand and that is because we were now we will refuse to exercise the discipline we need to exercise but fortunately there are new physicians who are working feverishly with dr fauci to help us get past this pandemic reality we are excited about these new medical professionals who are working together to ensure that we can have some victory over this adversity may i while i'm talking about newness may i may i suggest to the good people of california that you should have a new purpose that your new purpose is to get the spirit of stacey abrams to handle representative kevin mccarthy i'm thinking you ought to get the spirit of stacey abrams and mobilize to get rid of old kevin mccarthy and let me suggest to the great state of missouri that you ought to get the spirit of stacey abrams and get rid of old josh hawley and may i please suggest to the great state of texas that we ought to get the spirit of stacey abrams and get rid of ted cruz we need my brothers and sisters to have that new purpose that new purpose that fuels us over these next couple of years to do that which is necessary to handle to rid ourselves of the challenges that we now face i hate to address it but of course we had to deal with new pettiness last week didn't we as the first outgoing president in 152 years decided not to attend his successor's inauguration but we learned last sunday not to dwell on that kind of stuff we're in a new paradigm aren't we and as a consequence last week we learned that god is doing a new thing and since god is doing a new thing last sunday we concluded by telling you we need to give god new praise new praise that's what we need to give to our god do you remember the praise we were compelled to provide last week if you were listening all the way to the end of the message you heard that the hebrew word for praise in isaiah 43 is the word to hela to hela means to sing and i'm grateful my brothers and sisters that the israelites the hebrew people were a singing people these brothers and sisters from isaiah chapter 43 and the brother who has written this set this this psalm before us in today's text is a singing group of people these brothers and sisters know what it means to lift their voices for the glory of god in song they took seriously their responsibility to sing unto the lord a song that would enliven them and encourage them and enable them to move past their adversity to a place of victory oh my brothers and sisters we know something about singing don't we our negro national anthem compels us reminds us of the need to sing listen to those words sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us facing the rising sun of our new day begun let us march on when till victory is one we are a singing people we are a celebrating people we are a people who don't mind lifting up our voices in adulation to the god who keeps on doing great things for us the bible repeatedly tells us from my brothers and sisters from genesis to the revelation to get a song and sing it i said the bible keeps on telling us from the old testament through the new testament to get a song and sing it psalms 33 96 98 144 and 149 tell us to sing a new song isaiah chapter 42 tells us to sing a new song revelations revelation chapters 5 and 14 and 15 inform us that the people of god sang a new song and today my brothers and sisters when we approach this text that is before us some from psalm 40 we are invited to join the psalmist as he sings a new psalm the psalmist seems to suggest that the last season of his life listen was filled with struggle and stress and strain but there has been a shift in his situation that made his life so much better rewind press play i got to say that again because somebody must have may have missed it the bible helps us to understand when we approach psalm 40 that the psalmist is has been in a season of struggle and stress and strain but there seems to have been a shift in his situation and that shift made his life so much better oh i love it struggle and strain and stress they show up for some from some seasons in our lives and to be sure some of those seasons are extended seasons but by contemptual implication we can deduce that this season robbed this psalmist of his song yeah we can watch the text unfold and recognize that although he is a singing individual he comes from a singing people something happened in the pre-previous season of his life that robbed him of his song but lean into his testimony because by verse three we find out that and it is clear that the psalmist has reclaimed his song he's got his song back well i like it he's got his song back better still he's got a new song tune in to the text brothers and sisters because the text suggests to us that no matter how bad your season of suffering and stress and strain has been no matter how difficult the season was that robs you of your song you can get your song back you can start singing again you can get a new song now maybe this word is not for you so you stink because you're not yet on the other side of your season of suffering and struggle and strain may i submit to you this sunday beloved that you may have to hold on to this one tuck it into your pocket put it in a safe space so that by the time you get on the other side of your season of struggle and stress and strain you'll be able to reclaim your song get a new song and sing it i submit that all of the saints of god ought to hold on to their song i submit that as much as you can you ought to sing your song and if your song slips through your fingers if you don't find yourself in a place right now where you feel like singing just hold on a little while longer because trouble does not last always and god is able to give you your song back is there anybody listening to me on this sunday who can testify i love to sing because i recognize just how much god is doing for me and may i submit to you while i walk through this little passage of scripture that there's a song for every season yeah there's a song for every situation my older boy marcus d cosby likes to say it all the time there's a song for everything everything you go through every season you endure there's a song for it and i submit brothers and sisters that every now and then you want to open up your mouth i've told you before even if you can't sing you still ought to sing your song even if you're not on the praise team you still ought to be singing even if you're not in the choir you ought to be singing even if you're not one of those who likes to lift up your voice with melodic verses i want you to learn how to sing sing in your bedroom sing in the shower sing in the car sing while you're walking down the street sing while you're exercising on the treadmill whatever you do do your best to keep a song on your lips and if you miss your song if you lose your song if your song slips through your fingers this passage of scripture in isaiah chapter 40 testifies to the reality that god knows how to give you watch a new song yes lord a new song tune in will you please because if you tune in to this psalmist you'll find out first of all that he has a new declaration let the church say declaration he says it right there in chapter four in psalm 40 verse 1 psalms don't have chapters they are song lyrics they're hymns and so in psalm 40 he says listen i waited patiently for the lord and he inclined unto me and went once he inclined unto me he heard my cry he brought me up also out of an horrible pit out of the mirey clay and he set my feet upon a rock and established my goings listen to the declaration of the psalmist i mentioned to you he's on the other side of a season of struggle and strain he's on the other side of stress and setback he's on the other side of an administration that has been warying him and bearing and bearing down on him and on the other side of it he begins to testify while i was going through it i was waiting on god i was praying to god i was depending on god and here's my new declaration on this side of my struggle i waited patiently for the lord and he inclined unto me and he heard my cry don't miss it child of god he's saying to us that he found out some things in the process of struggle and stress and strain that was beneficial to him as he moved past his season of struggle he found out some things that were beneficial to help him still have confidence in god and one of the things he learned that some of us may still need to learn is this my brothers and sisters every now and then in some seasons of our lives we have to learn that god really does require patience now i know i know everybody didn't say amen right there because few of us want to experience the turmoil the tumult of having to deal with being patient that is difficult for some of us because we live in an instantaneous society we're accustomed to getting things how we want it when we want it we are accustomed to being those who get instant gratification i told you a few months ago that all of us at some point in our lives have to learn the benefit of delayed gratification the psalmist says i've learned something about delayed gratification i waited patiently for the lord i love the hebrew idiom the reverend alexander johnson because the hebrew idiom seems to suggest that in waiting i waited let me give it to you again i waited patiently the hebrew idiom is in waiting while i was waiting i had to keep on waiting that literally meant that it did not happen overnight it did not happen in the course of time i anticipated i had my schedule all written out but none of it happened according to my time frame i had to wait and while i was waiting i had to learn how to keep on waiting that's the patiently it literally means that in waiting i waited but i love the hebrew word because the hebrew word literally suggests kawai it literally suggests that while i was waiting i was expecting yes lord oh friend you must understand that we cannot get so frustrated by our life's reality that we don't have still an expectation in the midst of our waiting processes i want you to know that the god you serve is still a god who shows up just in the nick of time he's the god who may not come when you want him but he's always right on time help me dr tim sloan he may not come when you want him but you will want him when he comes and somebody today can testify that we serve a god who does attend to the needs of his children he says in waiting i waited i waited patiently for the lord and i learned that this god of hours really does require patience but that's not all i learned i also learned that this god of ours really does hear me dr barnett answer prayer yes he does he says i waited for him and in waiting i waited and while i was waiting i found out he inclined unto me and he heard my cry he inclined unto me and heard my cry i love it it is the picture brothers and sisters of a parent who understands his child her child is in the midst of some despair some disappointment some disaster and as a consequence this this parent who is much taller much larger much bigger than the child leans over to the child to get in the midst of the situation with the child brothers and sisters i love a god like that who loves us enough not to leave us where he finds us but to meet us where we are inclined to us and listen to us there's somebody listening to me today who can testify as you look back over your life of christian journey you can find you can find point after point after point when you prayed to your god your god listened to you inclined you leaned over to you and heard your cry is there anybody listening to me who can thank god that we serve a prayer hearing and a prayer answering god the god who says if you call on me i will answer you and show you great and mighty things i'm talking about the god who says that the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much i'm talking about the folk who know something about a jesus who says ask and you shall receive seek and you shall find knock and the door will be open i'm talking to somebody who knows something about the god who says if my people call by my name humble themselves and pray i will hear from heaven forgive their sin and heal their land is there anybody listening to me who can look back and see the points in your life when your god really did answer prayer i mean he stepped in he fought that battle for you he stepped in he hadn't handled that financial situation for you he stepped in he healed your body he stepped in he healed your emotions he stepped in put your mind at ease somebody can testify we really do serve a god who answers prayer i waited on him i yes i did i had to wait it didn't come overnight it didn't come instantaneously i had to wait but i found out he inclines under me leans over toward me he puts his ear down to me and he heard my cry and if that was enough it would be reason enough to shout for the rest of the day but that's not the end of the story reverend janella piles your bible says he lifted me up out of the pit out of the mirey clay i love it he literally decided i cannot leave you in the same state i found you i refuse to leave you struggling in the way you've been struggling all this time i hear you crying out to me and i wouldn't be much of a god i wouldn't be much of a heavenly parent if i left you the same way i found you and so he lifted me up anybody in here anybody in the virtual space ever found god to change your situation anybody ever found god to hear you after supplication and shift your situation to a place where you're able to testify if it had not been for the lord who was on my side i don't know where i would be all i'm trying to tell you is the psalmist learned that god really does have power oh friend somebody has learned that in the midst of your waiting all during this pandemic season you found out you had to be patient you couldn't just get a quick fix from this situation but you also found out that when you call on god he answers prayer but you also found out that the god you call on has power to do what nobody else can do i need of somebody who can testify the god i serve is an able god the god i serve is a powerful god the god i serve is strong and mighty and for him nothing shall be called impossible the bible says he lifted me up out of a out of the pit out of a muck in the mire the clay he set my feet upon a rock and established my goings he said this god of hours shifted my circumstance he fixed what was wrong in my situation he he he inclined and it would be good enough if he just listened to me but then he lifted me up and i love what saint francis of assisi says saint francis of assisi says this is one of his favorite verses in all of the bible because it literally means that god loves us enough not just to listen to us but to get in stuff with us because the only way he was able to get him out of that thing was to love him enough to put his hands down in it and lift him up up out of it oh child of god will you hear me your god is with you in your grief your god is with you in your disaster your god is with you in your frustration your god is with you in your financial circumstance your god is with you in your family for frustrations and the same god who is with you on the mountaintop is with he gets in that thing with you lifts you up out of it and puts your foot on a rock hallelujah it literally means he stabilizes me in unstabilizing situations indeed stability he stabilizes me when circumstances want to ruffle me and keep me off balance and mess up my equilibrium he stabilizes me he takes me from a pit from the miry clay and puts me on a rock thank you lord oh thank you lord he literally says i refuse to allow you to keep sinking in the stuff that's kicking over you i i refuse to allow you to keep sinking in the stuff that's trying to drown you i'm gonna move you from sinking to standing up on a rock and oh saints had a song for that yeah if any preacher of old school would catch that little verse right there that preacher would go old school and sing on christ the solid rock i stand all of the ground is sinking saying can i find 10 people in here who know something about the stabilizing rock who is jesus christ who is able to keep you stable in unstable circumstances that's his new declaration he says i waited patiently for the lord and this lord of mine inclined unto me and he heard my cry lifted me about a bit set my feet on the rock established my goings he said i'm gonna put you on a different trajectory i'm gonna put you in a different on a different path so you can see my glory constantly being revealed oh yeah old saints had a song for that too they say order my steps in your word dear lord lead me guide me every day send your anointing father i pray order my steps in your word that's his new declaration but keep watching the text because the text moves from a new declaration to what i call a new disposition a new disposition if you're real still walking with me through the text you'll find out by verse three says he put a new song in my mouth even praise unto our god put a new song in my mouth you must understand he's been having a pity party because he's been waiting patiently in the mire of his situation he's been sitting even sinking in the muck of his circumstance and now on the other side of the struggle and the stress and the strain on the other side of it he has a new disposition you know you ought to look a little differently when god brings you through some stuff you ought to you oughta you ought to act a little differently when god brings you through some stuff on the other side of your situation you ought to have a greater praise than you had before your situation ever got started i'm talking to some people who know what it means to lose a job and then the lord gives you another job after sustaining you through the jobless season you ought to be able to praise god a little bit better on the other side of that thing than you did before you got into it i'm talking to somebody who's dealt with some sickness and the doctors didn't know exactly how to handle your sickness and you didn't know what to do about it but now you're on the other side of that sickness and you can testify i don't act the same kind of way on this side of it that i did on the other side of it he put a new song in my mouth even praise unto our god i'm talking to somebody today who had some family friction and the lord brought you through that thing one way or the other on the other side of it you ought not have church the same way you had church before you went into it don't you get any sanctified amnesia now you've got to remember what the lord has done and by the time you get on the other side of that situation you ought to be praising god differently than you did on the front front side of it somebody can testify the reason folks shout every sunday is because they've been through enough stuff hey watch god bring them through enough stuff to celebrate god with everything that is within them i really hate y'all ain't in the sanctuary today because every sunday of the year i could always depend on a few folks shouting every time they came to church i kind of hate the fact that y'all ain't here because if we were here we see sister thomas run across the front of the church it didn't matter whether you didn't like it or not because when she thought about how god had healed her body when she thought about the fact that the doctors told us she'd never walk again and if she did it would be on a walker and she runs across the church every sunday and folk be looking at her with a jaundiced eye and i'm like run sister run because you don't know what she's been through to get her to the point where she praises god the way she does is there anybody listening to me on this sunday who can testify when god brings you through it you ought to have a different disposition yes lord you ought to have a new disposition you ought to be able to celebrate every time you get a chance even if you're tired you still give god praise even if you're weary you still give him glory because somebody can testify that the joy of the lord is your strength yes lord and so the psalmist says i got to celebrate i got to praise god because now here's the rest of my disposition now i trust god more than i did before i went through it oh it's right there he says i trust god more now than i did before i went through it he says many shall see what god has done for me and they'll begin to reference god too and they'll trust in god and then he says blessed is the one who makes the lord his or her trust yeah i like it i like it he says blessed is the lord who makes blessed is the one who makes the lord his or her trust who puts a confidence in god that should not cannot must not be removed that when you watch god do some things for you it's not just that you shout although i believe if god brought you through some stuff you ought to rejoice every time you get a chance but rejoicing is not the only reason why god brings us through it he brings us through it so that we will know how much power he really has and when we know how much authority he really has we will trust him in every situation let me tell you why you gotta trust him because if you live life long enough you're not just gonna go through one season of struggle you're not just gonna go through one season of stress and strain you will have to endure multiple seasons of struggle stress and strain but by the time you get 20 years into a relationship with god by the time you get 30 years into a relationship with god the subsequent sub struggle and strain does not mess with you to the same degree that the previous struggle and strain has bothered you because now you got a confidence in the god who've been pulling you through all these years and you can testify now that there is nothing too hard for our god oh you missed it you missed it if you had heard what i said you'd have at least thrown something at the screen just to say hallelujah i need 10 people who understand that i've already been through enough in the years of my life to have enough confidence in god that even if it shakes me a little bit it will not shake me to the point that i turn my back on god i trust him with everything now i believe him in every season now i've been broke he paid my bills i've been sick he healed my body i've had family trouble he reconciled it i had job situations he worked it out i had some stuff that bothered me that i couldn't tell anybody about but him and he let me know that even those secret things can be handled by god and somebody can testify now i trust him more on this side of it than i ever did on the other side of it is there anybody in here who can testify i still trust him i got a song for it i will trust hallelujah in the lord i will trust yes lord in the lord i will trust yes lord the lord how long church until i die i will i will trust in the lord i will trust in the lord hallelujah i will trust in the lord how long church until i die yeah that's the song he'll put in your mouth he'll put his song in your mouth and that song is not just for you it's for everybody around you so as they see it they'll put their trust in him as well many will see it and they will revere god and they'll put their trust in god as well old child of god you never know what your testimony is doing in somebody else's life oh beloved you never know what your trust factor is doing in somebody else's life don't you be weary in well-doing in due season you gonna reap if you faint not and somebody around you will be able to say if god did it for them he can do it for me anybody in here trust in god because you saw some elder trust god trust in god because you saw what god can do in your life trust in god because you know he's a trustworthy god all right we passed time let me close i submit to psalm 40 gives to us a new declaration gives to us new discipline this disposition but let our clothes kind of close when i tell you it also gives you a new delight new delight verse eight if you get down there to it i'm gonna cut across the field as my friend bishop rudolph mckissick said i'm gonna cross the field of a few verses to get to verse 8 because the bible says i delight to do thy will o god he says i got some i found some delight in doing the will of god and he begins to talk about in verses 9 10 what that will is he says you have called me to proclaim to preach your goodness in the congregation you've called on me to proclaim your loving kindness your tender mercy to everybody who's listening anybody who will listen everybody who gathers physically or virtually you want me to open up my mouth and let my testimony be known it's not just enough for folk to see me trust god they ought to hear what i got to say about god i said it's not enough folk just to see my trust in god they ought to be able to hear what i say with regard to god and so he says in verses 9 and 10 i've been proclaiming your goodness everywhere i go i've been talking about it i've been i've been letting the world know can't nobody do me like the lord can i i've been talking about it that god's faithfulness is still great i've been talking about it i i i've watched god open doors and i've watched god make ways and and as i talk about the doors god has opened and the ways god has made everybody in the congregation starts getting happy that that i take delight in opening up my mouth and speaking for you i take delight now let's be clear everybody won't have the benefit of the microphone like i do everybody won't have the opportunity for me to tell you for them to tell you about what god has done in their lives i get the privilege of talking to you about the ways god is made for me from a family from a loved one from africa i get the benefit of talking about it you you are so kind to listen but everybody doesn't have a microphone but you do have somebody who comes across your path and when they look at you and how good you looking in the midst of a pandemic situation when they see that you're on the other side of suffering with covet 19 you're on the other side of grief because you lost your loved one to covert 19. you're on the other side of it at least you pressing your way through it and you begin to talk about if it had not been for the lord who was on my side they began to put their confidence in god and now they take great delight in god too all i'm trying to tell you church family is you can't stop testifying now i know you've been in this pandemic situation for a long time and you don't like this season you're in some folk have gotten real weary you've gotten fatigued that's the that's the phase we call it now we're in covet fatigue i get it we started with covert fear and now we're in copic fatigue and i say some of us in covet foolishness because we're still running out there and doing what we want to do and i need to tell somebody today don't you get weary now you calm yourself down just begin to talk about how god has sustained you in the midst of it all i need i need you to talk about how god has held on to you when you thought you were coming to pieces i need somebody to testify about the fact how god put you in your right mind when you thought your mind was going gonna play tricks on you for the rest of your life i need 10 or 12 people in here who can testify the lord has prospered me in a pandemic is there anybody in here who can testify everything about the pandemic hadn't been bad there's been some good days there have been some good weeks there have been some good months as a matter of fact every sunday is a good time for me to worship the lord in the beauty of his holiness and when i put everything together i recognize that every day there's a day of thanksgiving and so i'll open up my mouth and begin to talk to folk i don't care if they don't know me if they engage me in conversation i'll have to tell them that i've got a god who's on my side who keeps making ways for me who keeps opening doors for me who keeps fighting battles for me who keeps forgiving sins for me who keeps giving me brighter day after brighter day i need somebody to help me now i'm gonna close the little message but even if you don't speak about it the psalmist says god knows how to make you sing about it as a matter of fact it's the lord's will that you will speak about it but it's also the lord's will that you sing about it how do you know that brother preacher cause the bible says god put a new song in my mouth all i'm trying to tell you is when god does something for you that nobody else is able to do he puts a song in your mouth have you ever found yourself just walking around the house singing your song have you ever found yourself walking through the mall singing your song what's your favorite song child of god church song please what's your favorite church song what's your favorite hymn of the church have you ever found yourself singing that song because you recognize just how good god is may i please tell you that happy people sing that delighted people sing that satisfied people sing i sing because i'm happy y'all excuse me i sing because i'm free his eye is on the sparrow and i know he watches me so sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us we're facing the rising sun of our new day begun we can't give up now we can't stop now we can't stop praying now we can't stop fighting now but let us march on until victory is one is there anybody listening to me who still believes that god gives us victory is there anybody listening who still believes that we're more than conquerors through him who loves us is there anybody who still believes that greater is he who is in me than he that is in the world well if you believe it you ought to sing about it don't waste a day don't let a day go by without singing your song if you're not singing about it you ought to be talking about it either way you ought to be telling your story this is my story this is my song what's your story cosby what's your song wheel of avenue all the day long and somebody can testify while you're praising he's working out the next season while you're praising he's working out the next predicament while you're praising he's working out the next circumstance while you're praising he's working on the next situation while you're trying to figure it out he's all already working it out and if you believe it i need every believer to open up your mouth and tell him thank you open up your mouth and give him glory open up your mouth start singing while i'm preaching you ain't gonna bother me i can't hear you know how start singing celebrate god [Music] yes [Music] [Music] yes lord yes lord yes lord i got a song in my heart gotta sing it i to sing it because god put it there you're not going to waste a god song are you if god put it there you ought to sing it if god gave you a song that the angels cannot say you ought to sing it i've been redeemed glory been redeemed by the blood of the lamb glory to his high name oh yes oh yes oh yes we're a singing people we're a celebrating people and every now and then when life tries to knock you down and knock you back and topple you you just open up your mouth and begin to sing you've got to pull up on the song from the last season pull it up and sing it if you got to pull up on your mama's song that she used to sing all the time pull it up and start singing if you got to sing your daddy's favorite song pull it up and start singing it and i promise you while you're singing somebody else's song in the midst of your circumstance god will give you a new song he'll put a new song in your mouth even praise
