you want those notes this is stuart greaves for those of you that are campers here steward has been part of the ihop he's been a part of the iheart leadership team for 22 years from day one and he has led the night watch catch this midnight to six in the morning for 20 years six days a week sometimes seven days a week but we tried to always give you at least one day off no but the night watch has uh uh that's what they do they do it five and six nights a week depending on different schedules but six nights a week for 20 years my goodness so faithful and he has leadership over a bunch of areas and me and him are sharing this course together and we're talking about the trinity god the father son and holy spirit and how they interact with each other and how they draw us into that intimate interaction so it's really intimacy with god and so i love stewart's notes here one thing i love to steal stuff from them and use it next week on my notes so thank you for having such good insight this is my buddy here well the stealing is mutual okay there you go ushers we're gonna have you uh get ready to receive our no we don't receive an offering no i i'm in the wrong service it's been a long a long day right very long long two weeks all right hey we'll turn your bibles to john chapter 13 and i'm uh we're going to pray and if you uh still need notes just raise your hand again to make sure that everyone has a set of notes in their hands all right let's pray father thank you lord for who you are father we ask you lord in the name of jesus lord that your spirit father the anointing that lives in us who teaches us all things father we ask you lord that you would stir that anointing in us to instruct our hearts father concerning the glory of your son lord that you would cause the light of your spirit father to shine on our minds and our hearts or you'd give us more insight lord in our spirit concerning your son you would equip our hearts to love him and love one another in jesus name amen well as uh as mike mentioned we have been teaching this course on intimacy with the trinity in the context of the lord's end time activity there are various unique dynamics that take place in the generation of the lord's return and these dynamics are both dynamics of glory and dynamics of of pressure and so it is a subject of intimacy with god the experiencing of god's beauty the experiencing of god's love that equips our hearts to stay steady in the place of the coming pressure so here roman numeral one what i'm going to do in this first point over here is just to give a very very brief overview of john 13 to 17. there are many components that can be added but this is just a real kind of a general broad strokes to kind of give a sense of what it is that these three chapters cover and then we're going to talk about the subject of our destiny in terms of where it is that the lord is leading us as believers and then we're going to talk briefly about john chapter 13 john chapter 13. but here in the first paragraph a paragraph a the primary theme um in john 13 and 17 is the subject of god's love and god's glory or god's beauty for me personally when i think about the subject of the love of god uh john 13 to 17 is one of the main places that i go to there's so much in there about god's love for us a lot of insight about god's love for god and in terms of how the father feels about the son the son about the father and then jesus commandment to call us to to live in the experience of knowing how god feels about god and then understanding how the way that god feels about god is the way that he feels about us and so the subject of god's love and the subject of god's glory i believe is one of the primary themes there in john chapter 13-17 and jesus main objective is to lead the church into the revelation of god's divine love it's our destiny it is the it is the thing that you and i were were created for it is to be is to experience the revelation of god's love you know there's a lot of talk there's in various seasons of life in particular when you're in your teens you're you're thinking about your future going you know where what is my purpose in life and whereas there are many things that we will do in life in terms of careers and family and friendship and whatnot the primary reason for which you and i were created the primary destiny for why the lord brought us into his kingdom is that we would experience the fullness of his love and encounter his beauty and so our destiny there the last sentence of paragraph a our destiny is to get wrapped up in the conversation in the fellowship between the father and the son in first john chapter 1 verse 4 the the apostle johnny tells the church that our fellowship our relationship our sense of community is with the father and the son and so when we're talking about the subject of intimacy with god relating with the lord we're talking about relating with the father and with the son and with the holy spirit not only that but experiencing and understanding and growing in the knowledge of how the father and the son and the holy spirit feel about one another and then in turn how they feel about us we're being brought into that conversation in paragraph b the primary destiny and inheritance of the church is to experience deep intimacy uh with the trinity you know in john 17 verse 22 it's not in the notes but john 17 22 jesus makes a very very powerful statement he says that the glory that he had with his father before the worlds began that he gives that very glory to the church in other words the access the the depth of union the depth of relationship experience love righteousness uh a wisdom that exists between the father and the son that is the very realm that jesus gives to his church that is absolutely amazing we are called to uh into an experiential union or intimacy and we are called into unity with the saints i'll say this again that we are called into the experiential into experiencing our relationship our union our connection with god by the holy spirit number one number two we're called into deep unity together with the saints in other words to say this way we are called number one union with god to love god with all our heart mind soul and strength and secondly to love our neighbor as ourselves is that where we are being brought into the fullness of love loving god refeeling and receiving from his love and then in turn loving one another with that same love the paragraph c jesus says he gives us three reasons in john chapter 13 to 17 he gives us three very powerful reasons in terms of what the purpose of his instruction is for us say this again jesus gives three very clear one two three reasons in terms of why it is that he is instructing the saints in the way that he's talking here in john 13 to 17. all right the first one is found in john chapter 15 verse 11. he says these things i've spoken to you that you may have joy these things have spoken to you that you may have joy in other words the things that i'm instructing you if you give yourselves to them it will put you on the pathway of joy being developed and formed within your heart and your soul secondly in john chapter 16 verse 1 he says this i am teaching you this i'm communicating this i'm instructing you in this way so that you may not fall away that you may not stumble under the pressure that is coming you know in this course we're talking about cultivating intimacy with the lord in the context of his end-time purposes which has both glorious trends and trends of pressure but even the glorious trends have pressures associated with it and jesus says that if you and i respond to his instruction as he's given in john 13 17 it will actually lock and secure our hearts to keep us from stumbling or falling away and so john 15 11 he goes i'm telling you these things this is the pathway to experience joy in your heart number one number two he goes this is the pathway to uh live a life where we won't stumble or fall away under the pressure and thirdly john 13 and john 16 verse 33 he says these things i've spoken to you that you may have peace peace it gives it where the yielding to his instruction what it does it actually gives us confidence in light of the global pressure jesus says in the world this is global he says you will have many tribulations but be of good cheer i have overcome the world now paragraph d the upper room discourse john to 17 is also known as the upper room discourse it's when jesus uh spends his uh final moments with his disciples it's right before jesus goes to the cross he's giving his apostles some of the most profound insight and teachings in terms of how you and i can interact with the lord and what's interesting is that in luke chapter 11 verse 1 the apostles asked jesus this very very important question they said lord would you teach us how to pray and then jesus responds to them and he teaches them the lord's prayer i think that part of what is happening here in john chapter 13 to 17 is jesus is further expounding on that question lord teach us how to pray lord would you teach us how to interact with the father because we see your interaction with him we see the result of the interact of your interaction with him and you're telling us that this is what you have for us so would you teach us and so john 13-17 is one of the one of the clearest places and one of the most profound places where jesus just gives us line upon line insight into knowing how we can interact with the lord the paragraph d the upper room discourse it is a it it shows us a pattern as well as a pathway a a roadmap of how the lord is going to lead us into the destiny of the church and as i mentioned earlier when i'm thinking about the destiny of the church i think in terms of us experiencing that you and i have been a god has a plan for us even in this life to experience deep things in terms of uh in terms of his presence that we would know his presence that we would know his power and not only that that we would know his plan and his purpose and so our destiny is to experience deep intimacy with god number one and number two our destiny is to experience deep unity with one another and that's a giant subject that god is actually going to have profound unity amongst every believer in the body of christ in ephesians chapter 3 verse 19 paul prays that we would experience with that we would grasp with all the saints together the width the length the depth the height and to know the love of christ waiting on the lord by interacting and responding to him is key to making our hearts ready say this again waiting on the lord when we're talking about prayer interacting with god another way to say it is to is to wait on the lord and as we wait on the lord that's where our hearts get equipped and our hearts get strengthened now uh one of the phrases that uh mike has spoken about uh many times over the years and has really been highlighting in the midst of this course it's the simple phrase of thanking god for the truth of who he is and then asking him to uh to show us more for example if you turn your bouts with me to john 15 verse 9 john 15 verse 9. jesus makes a very powerful statement he says this he says as the father has loved me so i have loved you abide in my love an amazing passage i remember for me personally in my younger years i came to know the lord when i was 14 years old and and i was told that god loved me and i remember you know really from that day forward just really begin to grapple with the reality it was okay why i hear that god loves me i i've read that god loves me but i want to experience the fact that god loves me and i remember just many years just going throughout my walk with the lord experiencing every emotion under the sun except for the love of god and uh and so it was actually john 15 it was that passage back in 1994 that the lord just opened up to me just a little bit and i began to go wait a minute you jesus you love me in the exact same way that the father loves you now think about that i mean that is unimaginable to think that god who's infinite in all of his greatness his glory his power he is holy other than anything that has created the father who who himself is love loves the son who himself is love and then jesus says it is in that exact same way that i love you and then jesus says this abide in my love and i just so appreciate this very very practical uh uh uh a point that mike has taught over the years is that we simply do this lord you know jesus says as the father loves the son i'm sorry as a father that's loved me so i love you and so we can simply pray this prayer father thank you for loving your son and so it we we call it thank you show me more father thank you for loving your son show me more so here's wrong way we're going to actually going to do that right now so just close your eyes for a moment just close our eyes and just set your heart on the lord we're before his throne and i just say just say this to them say father thank you for loving your son and just very quietly you'd have to say it loud but just under your breath father thank you for loving your son and i'll i'll say that a couple of times and i'll just sit there and wait and then after a little bit i'll just pray this next part of the phrase is show me more show me more father thank you for loving your son show me more and so when we're talking about the subject of waiting on the lord this is what we're talking about the speaking short phrases of gratitude to the lord and then asking him to show us more jesus says later on in that verse it says it is this way that i love you and we can say jesus thank you for loving me the way that the father loves you that's another way that's another phrase we can say that we can ask him to show us more and he shows us more in all kinds of different ways sometimes we begin to feel a little bit more of his presence sometimes a phrase may come to mind and we just speak that back to the lord or another bible verse comes comes to our mind and so again when we're talking tonight about the subject of waiting on the lord this is what we're talking about speaking very simple phrases to the lord and then asking him to show us more paragraph e jesus prophesied of a coming time of great pressure on the earth and he says that in those days many will be gripped with four negative emotions emotions of fear emotions of offense lust and deception those are the four main negative emotions that that jesus highlights but it is precisely saying yes to this invitation to abide in god's love interacting with the trinity to thank you show me more that over time that's the very thing that begins to change our emotional chemistry and we can withstand the tide of the pressure that lies before us now um for the atc people here i got a verse for you it's a it's slightly negative but i wanna i'll make it i will make it positive as quick as possible in isaiah chapter 40 31 the prophet said this he said even use shall faint and be weary even young men shall utterly fall and what he's saying is is that there is a pressure that is amounting in the earth for the next 10 20 30 40 years he said this pressure will be so intense that even young people won't be able to withstand under pressure but here's the positive part so that's about the negative as it gets i'll go back to the apostle here for you he's isaiah 40 verse 31 he says but those who wait on the lord in other words those who interact with god in a place of intimacy speaking those simple phrases of god thank you for your love show me more father thank you that you love your son show me more or lord thank you for your beauty thank you for your mercy just thanking him for the truth of who he is and then asking him to show us more that uh that exercise engaging with the lord that way the prophet isaiah says he goes if you give yourself to that and you stick with it because i will strengthen your heart and you will have a heart that will be vibrant under pressure and won't be succumbed by the emotions of fear and offense and so forth go to page two page two talk about our glorious destiny in the gospel and so when we're talking about john 13 to 17 and we'll look at that in just a few moments a little closer but it starts in john 13 but the destiny is john 17. john 17 is is where all this is heading that's what i mean by our destiny in the gospel as believers we have an indescribable destiny and inheritance the trinitarian fellowship is our destiny again that is our purpose that's why you and i were born now the last sentence there are paragraph a the scripture shows us that god brings us out in order to bring us in i'll explain that in just a moment he brings us out in order to bring us in so when we're brought out to be brought into something that means that we are in transition and the transition is towards union or deep intimacy with the lord i want to give two examples of this in the old testament in genesis chapter 12 verse 1 the lord calls abraham to leave his father's and mother's house he tells him to leave his country and then in genesis 15 verse 1 as he has left his father's house the lord comes to abraham he says abraham i'm your reward he says the the reason he says there's really two reasons why i asked you to leave your father's house is one it's because i want to take you to a land that i prepared for you i want to bless you i want to make a great blessing i want to give you a great name and all these wonderful things he goes but the primary reason why i brought you out abraham is that you can have a relationship with me the second example is found in exodus chapter 19 verse 4. exodus verse 19 chapter 19 verse 4 excuse me and the lord says this you have seen speaking to to the nation of israel and he says this you have seen what i did to the egyptians this referring to to the exodus you know here israel they are in slavery for 400 years a pharaoh goes to moses the lord releases ten plagues to deliver uh the hebrew children from oppression they they leave egypt they cross the red sea here they are in the wilderness and they are at mount sinai and as they are at mount sinai god appears to the entire nation and now he tells them why it is that he brought them out here's what he says you have seen what i did to the egyptians and how i bore you on eagle's wings and here it is and brought you to myself because i brought you out to bring you into union with me i brought you out to bring you into intimacy deep relationship with me the lord has brought all of us if we're born again tonight he brought us out of darkness he brought us out of our sins he brought us out of our past to bring us into relationship with him and when we're talking about eternal life we're not just merely talking about living forever though we will live forever but we're talking about a quality of life it says again when we're talking about eternal life it really is referring more to a quality of life rather than a quantity of life and the reason why i say that is because what most people forget is that every human being will live forever every human being will live forever the question is what neighborhood are you living in and so in john so in john 17 verse 3 jesus says this this is eternal life he defines it for us eternal life is this that they may know you and jesus christ whom you have sent it's knowing the father being in relationship with the father in relationship with the son that is the issue of eternal life and so god brought us out to bring us into relationship with him it is the primary reason not the only reason but it's the primary reason why you and i were brought out is to come into this place of intimacy with the lord paragraph a b there's a quote here from thomas dubay i want to read the last part of it he said he quotes first corinthians 2 9. he says i has not seen nor ear hurt nor can we imagine what god has prepared for those who love him and i love this next sentence he says the reason is that god has prepared himself he said the reason why we cannot conceive of what it is that god has in store for you and me is because that which god has prepared for us is himself for me what a statement that that's our destiny to know the father to know the son and to experience of their love to experience of his beauty paragraph c it is the father's plan for a unified church in union with god as his witness that's what god is after it's a church a people that are in deep intimacy communion with god and unified together as his witness now earlier we looked at john 15 verse 9. and here's what i love about that passage i mean there's so much to be said about john 15 verse 9. but the amazing thing about john 15 verse 9 is that jesus speaks this promise he speaks this truth to the disciples fully knowing what they are about to do a few hours later in other words he's not speaking this to mature believers and mature leaders no he's talking to these young disciples and apostles very new in a walk with the lord and he knows that they are about to deny him so i'm going to deny him they're going to run away it's going to be a really really bad night and it's in the midst of that that jesus says you know what he says i love you you know how much i love you you know how much you love us he goes i love you in the exact same way that the father loves me the other thing that's interesting about john 15 verse 9 is that literally a week before there was an interesting interaction between uh between the disciples and jesus and particularly james and john jesus tells his disciples he says guys next week i'm going to die i'm going to suffer a horrible death on the cross at the hands of the elders now think about this for a second one of your closest friends tells you they're going to die next week and the first thing that comes out of your mouth is hey i got a question for you is my name on your will think about that right what about a great question right i mean that is exactly what they did jesus says look i'm going to die and the first words out of james and john's mouth is like well oh man bummer hey so when you get into your kingdom uh can we get the highest position it's like dude your friend just said he's going to get beat up and die and now think of how think of how you would feel if you told your friend it says hey i'm die next week i goes oh man that's rough hey so your favorite car you're you know you know how much money you got to make a guy can i get someone like what you know i mean that's like the first thing that you're like what i thought we were friends right and the point is that's the group that jesus a week later looks them in the eyes sitting at the dinner table with them he looks them all in the eye he says you know what he goes i feel about you in the exact same way that the father feels about me and beloved if that's how he feels about them we have got it made because that's how he feels about us that's how he feels about us with our propensity to be distracted with our own sense of self-importance and etc etc etc let's go to an um paragraph d when we're talking about the destiny of the church and john as described in john 17 it's really john 17 verse 6 to 26 that's where we see the i believe the eternal destiny that's described for the church i just want to mention a couple of them number one it's our destiny to know the knowledge of god jesus prayed this by the way he prayed that we would know the knowledge of god how many of you know that jesus's prayers is going to get answered right and so because jesus prayed this and we know he's going to have his prayers answered this is also there for a prophetic promise for us and jesus gives us these eight things number one that we would know the knowledge of god number one number two that we will keep god's word that there's going to be a release the manifestation of god's grace and a spirit of obedience to obey the word of god to keep his word in obedience and to keep his word in proclamation that we would say what his word says and we would live the way his word tells us to live thirdly there will be a church full of faith in christ full faith in jesus full confidence and who he is that he says that he is and full confidence and the things that he says he's going to do fourthly that we would be a church fully unified through the knowledge of god and this is very important because it's a unity not based upon a political party it's not a unity based upon ethnicity but rather it is a unity based around the knowledge of god knowing who god is the the experience of god's glory and presence within our hearts fifth it is the the church that will the church will enter into the fullness of joy the fullness of joy one of the most amazing things in the gospel that the gospel offers us is the is is to be able to experience joy regardless of what's going on around us i'm not talking about pretending that we don't have pressure but no but where the the life of jesus in our hearts where the very joy of the lord becomes our joy and therefore it becomes our strength and jesus prays that you and i would come into the fullness of joy and he's going to have his prayers answered jesus continues to pray in john 17 verses 15 and 19 that the church will be delivered and kept from evil and compromise that we would be delivered kept from evil and compromised you know whatever it is that you're stuck in tonight we don't have to be stuck in the things we're stuck in that we're stuck in because jesus prayed for our deliverance that we will be set free from evil and compromise and be kept even in the place of pressure number seven that we would experience deep intimacy with the trinity you know when i look at these uh these prayer points you know i think of it this way jesus is about to go to the cross and it's like he goes to the father says father i'm going to the cross and i'm going to die for your purposes and here is what i want if i'm going to die father this is what i want i'm going to lay down my life and what i want from you for these people father is that they would know you father today would be a spirit of of obedience in their lives father that they would have full confidence in who i am and that you sent me father that they will be unified according to the knowledge of you that they will be unified father the way that you father and i and the spirit the way that we are unified that they would enter into that union father that they will be kept that they will be delivered from evil and compromise father they would experience deep intimacy and fellowship with you father i want them to enjoy you the way that you enjoy me and the way that i enjoy them and the way that we enjoy one another father i want them to experience that joy and that delight and again as mentioned earlier the way that we uh go on a journey of experiencing that joy at the light is by that very very simple phrase father thank you show me more lastly the eighth one is that the church would experience the fullness of god's love for god not only will we experience god's love towards us but jesus prayed that we would love god in the exact same way that god loves god let's look at paragraph e paragraphy john 13 just a kind of quick little road map john 13 as we're looking at just a few moments shows us what is required so john 17 is the destiny this is where i want the church to go and this is where i'm leading the church and this is where the church is going to end up but john 13 tells us this is what is required john 13 gives us what is required and what's required is this and in the symbols of terms is that we would love one another as christ has loved us and like i said the last time it's very easy to say love one another that's the easy part the whole world is saying love one another it's the s i have loved you that gives us great uh trouble to love god don't be to love you the way that god loves you or to love you the way that god has loved me and for you to love me the way that god is love just like you know it's like that great verse you know and uh where and uh paul says husbands love your wives as christ loved the church it's like wow that's the standard he goes oh yeah i want you to love your why do i love you and so but that's the requirement it's it's out of this world it is holy it's transcendent it's beyond it's it's beyond human to say it that way so that's the first part secondly john 14 jesus tells us about the access that you and i have to the presence of god because of the cross jesus goes to the cross to give us free access to the very presence of god and his access is important is because accessing his presence by thank you father show me more his grace and his power is released upon our hearts to fulfill the requirement to love one another as i have loved you thirdly john 15. john 15 focuses on how to engage the trinity jesus tells us that we must abide relate with talk to because as we talk to the trinity as we talk to god we are able to bear fruit we're able to fulfill the requirement that jesus has for us in john 16 we see the witness now the church is a witness of god's love in the midst of a hostile world and lastly verse 17 to chapter 17 we see our glorious destiny let's go to page three page three in john 13 the beauty of jesus asked the servant of all the beauty of jesus asked the servant of all in john 13 paragraph a is a i believe is a prophetic parable that unveils god's humble love it is a prophetic parable that unveils that shows us god's humility and his love towards us in john 13 jesus is showing us the nature of his humble love towards god number one number two the nature of his humble love towards his disciples and number three the nature of his humble love towards his enemies in john 13 equips us for that to walk in humility before the lord to walk in humility before his disciples our brothers and our sisters and to walk in humility in relationship to our adversaries now humility is a is an interesting concept because when people think about humility they think about personality types they think about positions they think about roles they think about functions and i don't think that that is so much what humility is about humility is a posture of the heart in other words the way that we think about one another is a manifestation of humility when we think properly towards one another that is the humility that we're talking about we'll talk about an inward disposition that we would have the attitude of christ the scripture says and humility is uh in other words you could be for lack of better you could have the lowest job in the world and be a person filled with pride and you could be a person that is in the highest position in the world and be a person of profound humility so we're not talking about roles and functions we're talking about an inward posture of the heart that has been formed by the presence of god upon our hearts there's a story that i heard some years ago where an um as a story slash joke you know where um this uh a guy was uh playing the piano for for the offering and after the service uh a lady walked with him and said son you know that was some of the best piano playing that i've heard in my life and he goes oh he goes well that was the lord it's just like well it wasn't that good in other words there's nothing wrong with acknowledging that you've done something well someone says hey man good job you say thank you all right so again the humility is about the inward positioning of the heart yes where we recognize the lord has given his graces and anointings and all the things that we have in our lives but john 13 really helps us i believe understanding the true nature of humility it is this humble love it it manifests in our attitude towards one another and it manifests in our attitude towards our adversaries paragraph b the uh uh i believe that the key verse to john 13 is verse 7. the key verse to john 13 is verse 7 here's why jesus is washing the feet of his disciples he washes peter's feet and peter has to react he goes whoa he goes lord are you going to wash my feet he goes no you can't do this and here's what here's what the lord says jesus answered him verse 7 what i am doing you do not understand now but you will understand after this here's a prayer that we can pray jesus thank you for your humility show me more because there's a lot that he wants to show us about his humility he tells us that there's things about his humility that even now even today but peter didn't understand it at 2 000 years ago but we do actually we ourselves don't understand that much in 2020 either because you don't understand now because we all understand after this there is an unfolding there is an instruction that jesus wants to give us about his true humility now paragraph b there's an unfolding of god's humility as jesus administrates the plan of redemption i believe that god's humility is a divine attribute he is humble just like god is love just like god is righteous just like god is holy god is humble it's not just a characteristic it is in fact who he is and the humble god is the most foreign thing to the human heart because the implications are significant both personally as well as globally i'll say it this way psalm 45 verse 4 tells us this jesus is ultimately going to go to war over the issue of humility to see humility established in the earth he will go to war he died for it and when he comes back he's going to go to war over the issue of humility now um isaiah 42 isaiah 42 um i normally don't draw my attention don't draw in touch with this but i said isaiah 42 and the clock was literally 42 0-0 isaiah 42 is known as the servant song there's five servant songs that expound and give more insight into the humility of god isaiah 42 it's a servant song and um it's a passage about the humility of jesus jesus leadership in the earth and the raising up of prophetic singers and musicians that will sing the prophetic song of the lord i just want to take a moment if you are a singer and a musician i'm even talking specific specifically here at the atc crew but not just them if you are a singer in music i want you to i'll stand a moment and pray for you because this subject about the humility and the servanthood of jesus is going to be critical for singers and musicians understanding jesus humble love unknowing him as a servant to begin to fill our hearts with the song of the lord isaiah 42 it says that he tells the singers to sing a new song to sing the prophetic song of the lord father i ask you in the name of jesus even now lord or that you would release your presence and your power upon your singers and your musicians lord you said that you would raise them up at the end of the age prophetic singers musicians those who sing the song of the lord the new song the songs that will shift history the songs that declare the things father that are on your holy heart father release your presence right now release your presence lord your fire lord would you release a song birds from heaven to whisper melodies in their ears the song of the lord in their heart father for the musicians father would you release the sounds and the rhythms of heaven father even tonight lord i ask you that you speak in a dream to different ones father concerning your call your assignment upon their lives to sing the song of the lord or that the beauty of jesus as a servant of all will be revealed to them and in them in jesus name amen maybe seated there's a couple of quick thoughts it's effects have the worst team come up the revelation of god's humble love the humble god is most foreign i believe to the human heart the implications are both personal and they are global yet jesus in matthew 20 11 29 he calls us to to learn from him because he's gentle and he's humble at heart he wants to expound by the holy spirit to give his holy spirit insight into the revelation of humility as the sermon of the lord paragraph c there on page 3 on the humility of christ is revealed in the cross is revealed in his leadership over our lives it is revealed in the administration of god's agenda in the earth and it is revealed in jesus leadership in the age to come i just want to highlight these two verses and then we're done in mark chapter 10 verse 45 jesus tells us that he came to the earth the first time to serve he says for even the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many he says i came the first time to serve here's the surprising thing in luke chapter 12 verse 37 tells us that when he comes back the second time he comes back to serve luke 12 37 when he comes will he find us watching assuredly i say to you he will gird himself and he will sit them down to eat he will come and he will serve them again john 13 verse 7 jesus said you don't understand it now but you will understand it later there is an unveiling there is a revelation there is an understanding in the word of god and the holy spirit wants to give us about the humility of christ but here's the amazing thing is that the humility of jesus is also the revelation of the humility of the father and the revelation of the humility of the spirit it is the trinity it's the father son and the holy spirit who are the servant of the lord [Music] that stands you know one of the primary ways that jesus serves us is by touching us with the power of his love by washing us with his presence and with his love by giving us assurance of his love i want to take a moment and pray for two or three categories of people number one um you are hearing this
