in today's video I'm going to show you how to use your acrylic pouring paints along with some Epsom salt and some other amazing products to create a wonderful jaw-dropping beautiful piece of art let's get started [Music] so the canvas I decided to use was a 12 by 16 artist panel that has one and a half inch thick sides I get these at Blick they are made out of wood and you want to just make sure that you really protect those sides with some tape so I taped the sides and the underneath part there the little lip with regular tape and then it came back with aluminum tape to make sure it was double protected I then took some flat black spray paint and I covered the surface I needed a black background so when you use spray paint you just want to do a light sweeping motion about 8 to 10 inches away from the surface you always want to make sure you're in a well ventilated area when you do this so I always choose to do it outside plus with spray paint there's over spray that gets on everything so outside is the best place so in the next step we're going to map out our design this step is totally optional you can just start pouring your paints onto the surface of the canvas however I had a particular design in mind so I used a white pencil and just mapped out my areas I want to thank you for joining me today I hope you enjoy this video also I wanted to mention while I have a moment here I'm excited to announce two upcoming resin classes one here in Connecticut and I'm also going to be taking a vacation this summer in Florida and I'm going to be holding a very small class there so if you are interested in a class send me an email artbytammy yahoo.com in the subject line of that email just let me know if it's Connecticut or Florida you're interested in so now it's time to prepare our paints and this is going to be very easy no measuring I'm using my glow paints for this however you can use whatever color that you want to use you're going to put some in the cup now I'm only working on a 12 by 16 canvas so I don't need that much um so I put about a tablespoon worth of paint in there and then I used some fluid white paint I'm not fitting that fluid white paint it's thin enough and as a matter of fact I'm going to use that fluid white paint to tell me how thick my other colors need to be so it will be my guide and what I'm doing here is I'm just thinning my other colors down with a little bit of water that's it now that they are all thin and they match the same consistency as the white paint I'm gonna pour myself two dirty cups so what that is is you put some paint in the cup this time I chose to put the white in first and then from up high you pour your other colors into the cup so that they kind of turn together typically I go back and forth from up high to close to the surface but once I have all my colors in the cup I take my little stick and I kind of swirl it around a few times that's it then I'm going to take these colors and I'm going to pour them into the areas that I sectioned off now I'm not going to do all of those areas I'm going to fill some areas in with a beautiful teal color that I'm going to show you soon and uh other things so a few of the sections I chose to fill in with the acrylic paints now it does look like it's all white but there's a reason for that I am using my glow paints again and I am thoroughly enjoying these things here's why I love the fact that you're creating a painting that looks a certain way during the day and then at night it's like you have a whole different painting on the wall so I'm loving these when Modern Art glow products and I'm also loving the fact that I could just thin them down with a little bit of water into acrylic pouring with them so that's a huge bonus for me but anyway I went and I filled in my sections and then I came in with a paint brush and I guided it towards the edge of those sections I had drawn I want it to look nice and neat so I'm just kind of helping it along a little bit once I get the section filled in totally I'll come in with the end of my paintbrush and kind of swirl the colors together again they all look white right now but they are different colors and you definitely see the swirling design that I do right here in the end result let me take a moment to wish all the mothers a happy Mother's Day I hope that you are spoiled rotten today and I hope you enjoy your day so once we finish doing that to all the sections you're going to let it dry and then this is optional you're going to outline the edges again totally optional as a matter of fact I probably could have skipped this step the way that I chose to create this piece of art I could have did this last but I was wanting to use this pearling pen which is a 3D paint pen to create a barrier between my sections so that they couldn't overflow into each other so I wanted to use resin in this piece it is totally an option to use something else you can use water Effects by when you can use something like a clear gloss varnish to fill in the sections that are left but I have this cool resin machine that I had to try out so beautiful Judy sand sent me this beautiful resin mixing machine because she knows my hands are so bad it is a lifesaver I should say a hand saver for me so it was very easy to put together I'm gonna put the link for it in the description if anybody's interested in one of these but while my resin is mixing to the side I'm able to mix up my crystal mixture I'm going to be using so Epsom salt along with some sparkly white Glitters mixed with a little bit of clear resin create the Beautiful most sparkly druzy crystals that I've seen other than real obviously so I took a little bit of my glow powder put a few pinches of that in there and uh yeah it's just a concoction of different ingredients to Sparkle I also use some just resin titanium White and I will be using this Abalone glitter at the end you'll see that but all of your resin products you can find at artistaldef.com they have a full store there with pigments and tints and what shapes all different things the resin I'm using today is KS liquid art Ultra UV resin and I'll be sure to put all of this information below so the only thing with these resin mixers is you have to once it's mixed up pretty good you got to take it off and scrape the bottom and the sides and mix whatever is left in so it doesn't mix it thoroughly it mixes it say 90 percent which is a huge help so I just scraped the sides down and mixed it up to incorporate any unmixed resin that was left in the cup I am very grateful for this machine I use a lot of resin and it cut it down from me mixing it for four minutes to me mixing it for not even a minute so in that cup as I said is Epsom salt sparkly clear white Glitters and a little pinch of the Maldives glow powder I put a little bit of resin in there and mixed it up till it was like a slurry I saw Erica doing this on artist till death on YouTube and I fell in love with it be sure to check her out they have such amazing art on their Channel full resin tutorials they do a lot of different testing it's a really fun Channel so I have my druzy crystal concoction ready to go I'm now mixing up some white and I'm going to take my clear resin and just kind of drizzle it over the white areas only spread it out with my finger or the stick and then I'm gonna come back in with my white and just sort of swirl a little bit of it through the clear resin I will then take my heat gun and I will swirl or I should say blow the colors around so that they swirl together very simple techniques so again time to add a little bit of white just kind of drizzle it through there and then blow it around with some sort of heat I was using my embossing tool this time usually I use my heat gun but I was just too lazy to go get it so the embossing tool gets hot enough to move it around also I had some clear glitter left over that I took some of that um oh the Maldives glow powder I mixed it in and I kind of filled in those black areas with it you're not going to see that in the end I just had leftover resin and just decided to throw it there it did look kind of pretty but it wouldn't have been strong enough so um not strong enough it wasn't the color palette I was going for so just ignore that that's why I didn't show you that part anyway uh I'm taking my druzy mixture now and I'm putting it in some random areas we're gonna have some beautiful sparkling clusters of crystals in this piece and it's I'm going to tell you right now absolutely amazing how this painting turns out so I'm just kind of dabbing it in those white areas and here's the thing guys because I used those glow parters in the white areas putting those crystals on top they're going to light up also which was really really cool so these are Meyer Myers sorry Myers glitter glass and I'm just sprinkling some of those on top while it's still wet so we're going to let it cure for 24 hours then I'm going to come back and I'm going to change my plans a little bit this area here I did not like the way that it was so I'm going to end up putting some more crystals in there to fill that all in well not all most of it I'm taking a mirror paint pen and I'm going around all of the crystal areas and a few others I'm going to kind of do a little bit of edging with those pens so those white areas I'm going to outline those in the mirror paint so this is the Abalone glitter from Wynn I'm going to use that now to fill in the empty sections the black sections so I mixed up some more resin poured some of that Glitter into the cup and just added resin until it was coming off the stick it just wasn't flowing off the stick then I made myself some more druzy Crystal mix and uh started plopping it all down on the board again resin art is pretty simple you just have to uh you know follow the directions and watch a bunch of tutorials you'll do fine but again if you really like it and you want to learn how to properly top coat a painting and use resin as an art form you can join my class either here in Connecticut or the small one I'm having in Florida and I mean small so if you're really interested you need to email me in the subject line put whichever class you're interested in either the Connecticut or the Florida and then I'll get you the information so as you saw I put the Abalone color down and I then took a paintbrush I didn't care about and spread it out up to the edge of the sections there and as I said I am altering this a little bit I'm going to use the crystals to fill in that area there and just kind of extend them out I wasn't happy with the way that it looked so if you have leftover crystals take them and mush them into a cup something that's plastic or non-stick like a silicone cupcake holder or a baker I should say and kind of press them in there make them look not uniform you want to have them at you know chunky looking inside there different heights and uh I actually took some crystals that had dried on my table peeled them up and plopped them in the middle there and I made myself a beautiful piece of crystal for a future piece of art so here it is so far I now need to take some uh silver and you know outline my areas once it's dry and uh then I'll be showing you the final result boy oh boy is it sexy [Laughter] show you these crystals I made really quick how cool is that you could take that and put it right into any piece of art that you want to just use a little glue to adhere it or some resin here are some table scraps I mean they're really pretty they're sparkly and I like them so I'm gonna save them so now I'm taking some liquid silver and we're going to take that liquid silver we're gonna pour a little bit of this onto the bottom of a cup Erica from artist till death taught me this and what it does is the solvent in the color evaporates and you get pure liquid silver that way uh it's really cool actually so I'm just using it to go along the edge of everything the crystals and the blue sections after you're done doing this you want to let it dry about an hour to make sure everything's dry and then you're going to come back and you're going to put down your final coat of resin so that is what I'm going to do here I'm going to pour it in all the areas that do not have crystals I'm going to cover them all you don't have to do the crystal part though you can if you want to but it's totally not necessary so I'm just pouring it in the areas where the white and the blue is and then I'm going to spread it out with my hand and then I'm going to pop the bubbles look in the surface for any type of hair or lint and then cover it and put it away for 24 hours it's just taking my time with it and making sure it's right up to the edge of those crystals so are you ready to see this this is it's like uh looks like a natural stone during the day and during the night it is a whole different ball game look at how cool that is and you could see like the where I did the swirling and it almost looks like Natural Stone in a sense the the pattern of it and of course there's a face in there uh-huh I always end up with some kind of a image in my artwork and I'm sure you do too you just have to look for it but you can see those crystals are lighting up and I am so in love with this piece it's actually reminding me of an x-ray for some reason but anyway that's the video my friends I hope you enjoyed it if you did please remember to click like uh subscribe read the description for all the discounts that I have and uh yeah thanks for joining me today and I'll mention one more time you could get these glow paints at winmodernart.com coupon code Tammy 21876 all
