in this tutorial video we'll delve into the process of editing STL files using freead with a practical example let's get started import STL file we'll be creating a compact design for this clamp ensuring a cylindrical contact area with the pipe presently you can observe only half of the contact area of the clamp with the pipe you can't select entities such as edges or faces directly in this STL file therefore our first step is to convert it into a more suitable file format select part workbench create shape from mesh hide base file convert this shape to solid let's refine this solid next we will delete some features delete this chamfer this also so select box element selection and delete filet elements do the same next we will Define cut sections to slice this part select Sketcher workbench draw a rectangle to serve as the slice plane close this sketch repeat this close this sketch we will Define on this face also draw rectangle select part workbench create face by this tool for all three sketches select solid part first and then all three faces and then click on slice apart tool hide all irrelevant components Define chamfer enter length and click okay join Faces by defeat hearing tool create a cylinder change parameters change position check Center and click okay select both solids and merge them Define again cylinder to remove material from the main solid next substract this from Main solid let's export this final part into step select part and go to file menu you can select any format you want enter file name and click okay Define new document import final design by converting the file into a more workable format we were able to access and modify its components with greater Precision remember mastering these techniques opens up a world of possibilities for 3D modeling and design thank you so much for your time don't forget to hit that subscribe button see you in the next video
