in this video we will demonstrate how to slice an STL mesh file please note that when you slice an STL mesh it will not be converted into a solid rather the mesh STL will retain only its outer skin if you're interested in slicing for a complete solid we will cover this in an upcoming video let's begin the activity select part workbench create a plane Define plane Dimensions click on create button to check the plane's initial position in space double clicks on plane to edit plane's [Music] position move plane [Music] position a plane in such a way that it completely covers the geometry of the mesh please click okay if the plane is positioned suitably select both the mesh and the plane together now navigate to the mesh workbench let's click on this tool to trim the mesh with the plane select desired option hide plane the single mesh has been divided into two parts and you can move them separately select part and let's move you can observe that the mesh is not sliced like a solid rather only the outer area or skin of the parts is sliced we will cover how to convert STL to a solid volume and slice that solid volume allowing you to obtain two distinct [Music] volumes thank you for watching this video tutorial please hit the like button to motivate us [Music]
