in this tutorial video we'll delve into the process of editing STL files using freead with a practical example focusing on a motor clamp let's get started launch freead import STL [Music] file select STL file location and click okay to import [Music] we will do some modifications on this STL file you can't select entities such as edges or faces directly in this STL file therefore our first step is to convert it into a more suitable file [Music] format select part workbench select this part and go to part ribbon menu click on create shape from mesh click okay shape is generated turn off mesh [Music] visibility next convert this shape to [Music] solid turn off shape [Music] visibility let's refine this solid with refine shape tool you can see shape refinement treatment for this solid we will start editing this part now first we will remove extra material by reducing length we will split this part by this Edge select both edges select Sketcher workbench [Music] select plane create rectangle covering this part close active [Music] sketch select part [Music] workbench convert this sketch into face by this tool first select part and then face click on slice aart tool [Music] turn off extra material visibility hide sketch next step is to change fillet radius here select box element selection tool select this filet region [Music] then select this defeat earring tool to remove filets let's select both edges and apply fillets with desired [Music] radius select tool enter radius [Music] click okay to [Music] Define let's apply chamfer on these selected edges select tool modify [Music] length click okay to [Music] Define you can modify chamfer length [Music] also click okay to [Music] redefine next we will keep these features diagonally holes let's remove other features select box element selection tool select this whole elements [Music] you can see selected elements click on defeat earring tool hole is deleted follow the same procedure for other features delete hole [Music] next let's delete present fillets this and this we will follow the same procedure [Music] delete by clicking on defeat earing tool do the same for this side [Music] filet next let's remove of these fillets [Music] delete selected elements Define chamfer select tool and Define length click okay next Define fillets [Music] select radius and click okay let's change body [Music] color import the same STL file to compare with this modified [Music] design move in X Direction [Music] change [Music] color in conclusion we've successfully navigated through the process of editing an STL file in freead using a motor clamp as our practical example by converting the file into a more workable format we were able to access and modify its components with greater Precision don't forget to hit that subscribe button see you in the next video
