oh goodness about pulling the rod out of my hand hey folks chris souters catfish crazy welcome to this week's episode north carolina roanoke rapids river chain home of some big old blue cats when we come back we'll be introducing you to our guest sharing some information and catching some fish we'll be right back [Music] hey folks welcome back with me today i got tyra williams passionate catfish lady angler thanks for joining us today it is going to be a fun day we are in their pro cat 240. it is a beautiful boat ready to put some slime in it what about you let's do it yeah let's get out there absolutely let's get some baits in the water folks catch some fish and share some information it's going to be fun i'm ready i'm ready let's go all right folks we got our trolling motor on spot lock and we're spot locked on some structure in the middle of this lake and what we're doing was we kind of noticed yesterday was out here fishing around and we had to downsize our baits dramatically now that's a seven-hour diaty hook and that is just a small gizzard chad might have been six inches long with just the head off of it these cold front conditions you really got to pay attention to little details like that now one thing we did notice was these fish were off bottom which is kind of unnormal for that situation so we got double hook rigs on a couple of these bring it up off the bottom smaller baits and we're going to let the fish tell us throughout the day what they want so let's get some baits out there um so we're basically right on top of that so you don't have to cast them very far and then just let them go straight to the bottom oh here we go tyra we hooked up this morning oh that didn't take long that took about 20 minutes 20 minutes to get this one this first one on and we're fishing some structure middle of the lake and tyra how long you been doing this about four years you've been fishing with craig your husband for about four years now yep you guys love it i'll probably work him this way okay since the boat's swinging that away and what is something that you that got you into catfishing or got you in the fishing period well i grew up my parents had a cottage up at indian lake and we were always up there and we were always fishing and that's in indy area ohio right yep what kind of fish are in indian lake well when we were kids we caught anything that met anything that bit anything that bit well this one's pulling pretty decent we might have a nice little fish here hope so good little start to the day i think he hit on oh yeah look at that fat belly thing we'll let him mess around there i think he come on uh i believe he come on some perch this lake has a bunch of perch and that is a good bait relatively easy bait to catch you can catch it on rod and reel and and uh something fun to bring kids and do is is catch bait we'll bring him up here and let you get him in the net there oh son give me some good way to start the morning off awesome fish nice heck yeah now i wasn't i was got a little rude i should have looked let the lady reel that one in first but things happen too quick i'm gonna get a set of grippers here now you guys got this procat 240 ouch and it is absolutely laid out perfect perfect to fish you guys got stuff right where it needs to be as you guys can see nothing in the floor and what year boat is this this is fish it's great fishing up there great channel cats just take it easy with him he's coming up nice and slow isn't he yes he's fighting [Laughter] enjoy the fight yep now sandusky bay we've done a couple shows up there oh yeah another little pig nice boom love it look at that big old girl right there yeah that's what i'm talking about heck yeah oh come to mama they got some more war scars on that one there we go oh yeah look at that one getting the old slime on you love it got some mud on it that's some muddle no grill it's all buggered up some leeches look at the marks on the heads big old fat belly on that thing beautiful blue cat all right i just dropped it nope he's still there he's still there we got a double going [Laughter] [Applause] we got one laying right there i don't think i don't know if we need to net on this one or not oh he's a easy girl easy easy what yeah i'll get this one you just keep that one there under control okay hey we finally found some didn't we yes we did well i tell you what when they get fast action like this this winter time fishing they get stacked up it can be absolutely phenomenal small baits gizzard shad oh it's a blast now what's the biggest fish that you and craig for you have caught i just caught a 64-pound flathead oh my goodness lake wilson lake wilson tennessee river that's a beautiful place to fish isn't it it sure is we love it up there we're bringing these fish out some deeper water so we're gonna take it easy on them and oh come here buddy i think i might have cut the i caught a little one compared to that one they're all fun to catch ain't they they sure are beautiful double i think you got me a little bit i think so that's okay girls rule that's right that's right beautiful fish though we say we get them dams on on us and we uh we get starting to get a little bit more current than what we what we anticipated today but made a little move didn't we we sure did here we are now we're putting them back in the boat put them back in the boat we're getting a lot of these small fish bites here this ain't too small of a fish we'll take him spider i'm gonna bring him over on your side but you know we've both got kids that love to fish mine loves to name every fish she catches what's something that your daughter loves to do when you get her out on the water get the biggest fish in the boat get the biggest fish in the boat kind of like her huh huh yep [Laughter] we'll take this one oh oh oh oh hold on come here buddy i look at the mud on this fella now he did not hit nearly as hard as what oh my god there we go good job rolling heck yeah give me some we'll take it now it looks like that current that's picking up that current has definitely and you'll be able to see it on this fish the mud on this fish easy easy buddy as we was marking that ledge we've seen these fish right up on that ledge now they're still eating and they're still active but they are muddy it's all cut up he's got all kinds of mud cuts he's buried up in that stuff isn't he oh see if i can keep this one on nice see if i can keep this one on we've been busy here we've been getting a lot of money which way we going i don't know yet okay kind of see what happens with this one this is the kind of action to keep a keep a kid happy wouldn't it absolutely that just keeping me happy i'm just like big kid [Laughter] these blues they hit hard and fast nice fish nice oh yeah now he's not fighting much is he nope it's amazing how much this current affects these fish in a lake he's just rolling now watch i bet you get him in the net he's gonna go crazy yeah go crazy he's just possum yep now he hit that top hook which is closer to the bottom and i've noticed the last couple fish we've caught here have been like that let's take him this way all right and something else i've noticed too is throughout the day that current has slowly picked up they're starting to let more and more current out but hey the fish are still eating that's another good one in the net all right nice now look at him what'd i tell you what did i tell you wow man didn't want to fight out there in the water you want him down that don't matter another beautiful blue cat that's a nice fish yeah real nice i love catching these fish i absolutely love it doesn't matter i mean this is a you know 20 pound class fish with them small ones these bigger ones it's all fun love to get kids on them let's get them back bye buddy wow there you go got it there you go did you get him yep he's on fish on all right all right we've had a pretty good day out here today we beautiful day great day lots of fish that's what it's all about catching fish let me get this other one out your way now you've fished some tournaments yourself yeah uh if somebody was interested in going out and fishing and catching you know in a tournament is there something out there for them to do that there is there is last year started all female tournament chick fight we fished down uh in wheeler alabama yeah this year i believe we are fishing the watts bar area in tennessee here's a good eating size catfish nice if you want to eat catfish this would be a good eater size now is that an all-women's tournament it is an all-women's tournament yes if you are able to go without the men driving the boat then there's more money available to win that little pretty thing hold him up there nice he's got mud on him too oh yeah so what's the webs did you tell them what the website was go to chick fight on facebook and check them out absolutely for all you have been a triple if i could have got that other one in right darn it another nice fish oh yeah there we go there we go you get him yep that's it nice he's all tangled up [Music] you missed one yes no is it there oh no i swear it came back oh yeah folks get you some of that that's what it's all about right there [Applause] let's get him back okay let's do it nice what a day oh my goodness come here girl come here you wanna you want a fish yes here you go here you go let's keep that rod tip up okay get that rod tip up we got a fish here we got a fish all right hey what i'm gonna do i'm gonna go ahead and clear some of these other rods over i'm gonna get this net ready boy has been a wonderful day out here just talking about going in this will be is he coming this way i can make him come this way well he's going to go wherever he wants to go at this point point that rod tip over there if he can we'll see if we can't work him that direction and just take it slow with him we don't want to bring him up too fast he's fighting a little bit better than the other ones where wasn't he it's a fighter there we go nice all right nice this would be a good one to end the day on won't it yes good job girl good job yeah you take this i'm gonna get this other fish oh yeah baby what a way to end the day right here folks doubled up doubled up i don't think this one's near the size that one is but it's a good fish nonetheless you need the net um you know you just keep working that one there okay and i'm one see what i can do with this one sun's going down that last hour of fishing oh this one just come unbuttoned just lost that one oh darn it yeah it's okay that's okay it was fun fighting for a few minutes anyway open up buddy good fish good fish that's a good one that right there
