‘Not a joke’: Joe Biden tells troops their biggest challenge is global warming

now as you might have heard as many of you would have actually felt for most of the day it's been freezing in new south wales today across much of the eastern seaboard there's been widespread snow in the central highlands of new south wales snow in the brindabellas near canberra plenty falling up in the snowy mountains vindicating an early opening to the snow season there's been floods in victoria which are a real worry this is a real arctic blast and in much of new south wales is the coldest run of weather in may for more than 50 years now you know the media goes nuts about weather records when they're maximums and they talk up climate change and global warming of course much less coverage of these records on the downside much less screaming about global warming from the usual suspects when the weather comes up with new minimum records and new spells of low temperatures i wonder why that is brain freeze anyway stay warm we need to stay warm over the next few days but this brings me to the u.s president joe biden who's arrived in the uk for the g7 meetings where he'll catch up with our own prime minister as well as the other leaders now while he's in the uk biden of course the commander-in-chief of the american armed forces he addressed some u.s troops and as you would expect the commander-in-chief spoke to them about global security threats and the main challenge for the soldiers that they would be having and i think when he was speaking about this his little his little speech to them about national security threats i think perhaps the main challenge for the soldiers might have been keeping a straight face you know when i went over in the tank in the pentagon when i first was elected vice president with president obama the military sat us down to let us one of the greatest threats facing america were the greatest physical threats this is not a joke you know what the joint chiefs told us the greatest threat facing america was global warming because there'll be significant population movements fights over land millions of people leaving places because they're literally sinking below the sea in indonesia because of the fights over what is ariable land anymore this is not a joke biden says that's not a joke be afraid world be very afraid china is throwing its weight around fortifying islands building up its armed forces and bullying its neighbours and russia has invaded and annexed its neighbours while iran is fuelling terrorist uprisings against israel and destabilizing the middle east and joe biden tells his troops their biggest challenge is global warming next up he'll appoint greta tunberg as his national security adviser and that was a joke i think

Sky News host Chris Kenny says next up Joe Biden will “appoint Greta Thunberg” as his national security advisor after the US President told troops their biggest challenge was global warming.

It comes after President Biden arrived in the UK for the G7 Summit as well as other bilateral meetings.

“While in the UK, Biden, the commander in chief, addressed some US troops, and as you would expect, the commander in chief spoke to them about global security threats, and the main challenge for the soldiers might have been keeping a straight face,” Mr Kenny said.

“China is throwing its weight around, fortifying islands, building up its armed forces, and bullying its neighbours, and Russia has invaded and annexed its neighbours, while Iran is fuelling terrorist uprisings against Israel and destabilising the Middle East.

“And Joe Biden tells his troops their biggest challenge is global warming.
