off me boots and dig me paws in the sand it's so quiet and peaceful are you hurt don't be afraid little crab what's wrong it's my leg it really hurts i'm peso i'm a medic i help any creature who is hurt or sick no matter what let me take a look right here you need a bandage good as new oh thanks that's much better how did you hurt your leg i fell off a rock when i was running away from the blob what's the blob it's a thing that grows bigger and bigger and bigger how big does it get so big that it pushed me right off the rock where i live if you don't get out of the way it stings you i got away but my crab friends are still there trapped in a hole in the rock i have to go back and save them from the blob you won't have to do it alone we'll help you aye matey we're not afraid of the blob oh wow first you fixed my leg uh and now you're gonna help me and my friends who are you guys we are the octonauts barnacles to dashi does she here captain i'm afraid it's not picnic time just yet we copies of themselves why yes captain those are aggregate anemones aggravating enemies no no no aggregate and eminence they can make lots and lots of copies of themselves and when two groups of these anemones meet they fight over space they have special stingers for attacking each other [Music] alert [Music] are you all right captain we were just attacked by oh no the radio's broken vanilla kelp pudding delicious we've lost contact with the octopod ah i bet these anemones are trying to take over the octopod just like they took over this rock hmm dashie said they were under attack we need to quasi my patient is the coral reef what of course coral reefs are made of coral which is alive the coral reef needs to check up just like any other creature that's true the coral reef is home to lots of different animals so if anything happened to the coral they'd have nowhere to live hi that is a big patient [Music] hmm that's not good what's wrong peso this coral is turning white shellington which means it's getting sick there's another white spot over here peso you'd better take a look at this oh no the entire coral reef is getting sick if anything happens to it all these creatures will have to find a new home there's only one thing to do quasi shellington i need you to find me a small piece of healthy coral on the sea floor aye aye sir let's go captain i'll need to borrow your hydro drill what are you planning peso an emergency coral transplant i drill a tiny hole into the sick coral here you go a piece of coral perfect now i'll put this piece of healthy coral into the hole and there that's a coral transplant the piece of healthy coral will help make the sick coral better look great we've saved the coral reef at just in time for lunch i don't think so quasi look at all those white spots i'm going to have to do a lot more coral transplants to make this reef healthy again and we're going to help you let's sound the octo alert octonauts to the hq [Applause] [Music] octonauts the coral reef is sick our mission is to help peso do as many coral transplants as it takes to make it healthy again but the coral reef is huge what's the plan dashi you quasi and tunip will search for healthy pieces of coral on the sea floor shellington and professor inkling will sort through them to find the healthiest ones then tweek and i will drill tiny holes in the reef and peso will put the coral pieces into the holes now everybody got it got it octonauts let's do this if we all work together the reef will be healthy again in no time [Music] another piece of coral just a sea sponge well we do need all the help we can get but um what could you do find the car put it in the hose find the car hey i found a piece ah that sea sponge on your nose is a pretty good tool for finding so we borrow the shells of other animals for protection we move into one shell grow up get bigger and then move to a bigger shell so what can we do tweak maybe i could just cut off the shell and then try to glue it back together that's too risky i think we need a new plan [Music] we have to safely remove the crab from its shell there's only one thing to do peso we have to perform a crabactomy captain i've never performed a crab ectomy before even when i was in medical school just watch out for those pinchy claws i'll talk you through the whole operation i had to perform an emergency on our way all right everyone let's take this nice and easy these crabs are a long way from home and they're probably a bit scared hey it's another of those furry things don't worry little crabs it's we've been trying to catch the crabs all evening and we haven't caught a single one oh these little mateys are quicker than i thought it's getting dark we'll have to try again tomorrow with the whole yeah imagine that iggy ted sneezy aren't you a little far from home oh not a little a long way for about first red rock crabs and now marine iguanas how did all these creatures from the galapagos end up here go on telemighty shush i was just about to it all started with a wild storm the winds were so strong they swept us right out to sea luckily for us we was able to grab onto a club of floating kelp we used this kelp as a life raft and a snack we drifted for days and our kelp raft was getting smaller well i was hungry till eventually we was washed up here off of this little island ah and saw the red rock crabs must have been carried here on kelp rafts too that's incredible no it's terrible the water is too cold for us to die for seaweed to eat that's why we've been uh borrowing your little snacks don't worry iguanas we'll take you and the crabs back home just as soon as we can round them up never catch red rock crabs like that ah i think you're right if only we had something to distract them so we could sneak up on them captain i think i know just the thing [Music] now what do we do just pretend your son [Music] here they come now there's a sight for sore eyes three iguanas ready for cleaning hey red rock crabs love to climb on marine iguanas and eat the gunk off their backs that way both of them benefit one gets fed the other one gets cleaned i believe that's what's i've never met him before is it some kind of slimy kelp monster no hmm is it a bunch of kelp heading straight for us [Music] the water's full of kelp and it's all coming from the kelp forest something's not right we'd better take a look kelp strands are connected to the sea floor by these special roots if these roots come loose the kelp will float away if too much kelp floats away there'll be no more kelp forest and all these creatures will have nowhere to live but what's causing all the kelp to come loose in the first place avast look mateys i was afraid of this red urchins red urchins destroy kelp roots they can wipe out an entire kelp forest unless there are sea otters i don't you eat them pearl hello shellington everybody this is my sister pearl the sea otter oh hi yeah hi hello pearl is a scientist just like me she knows practically everything about kelp forests and kelp plants actually kelp isn't a plant at all it's a type of algae see so this is who you wanted us to meet not exactly but i'm sure pearl can tell us what's wrong with the kelp forest ah yes i'm afraid i've fallen a bit behind on my urchin duties urchin duties yes we see otters are what's known as a keystone species the whole forest depends on us to eat the red urchins so they don't destroy it it's our duty as sea otters but i've never seen you eat an urchin uh well actually as it turns out i'm allergic to urchins shellington helps the kelp forest in a different way as an octonaut usually i can keep the urchin under control all by myself but lately i've been kind of busy with well let me show you [Music] he's right over here i wrapped him up him kelp so he wouldn't drift away everybody this is periwinkle this is who i wanted you all to meet my new nephew but he's still just a baby so i spend most of my time feeding him cleaning him i'm teaching him how to find food once per is a little older he'll be able to dive down to eat reductions too as a matter of fact it's just about time for perry's first diving lesson oh but i still have to catch up on my urchin duties pearl why don't you and shellington give perry his diving lesson and let us clear the urchins out of looks like a job for a keystone species shellington the urchins will keep coming back to the kelp forest unless we move them somewhere with plenty of food that rocky reef there's plenty of algae for them to eat there but what about the urchins that are already in the kelp forest pearl i hope you're hungry reporting for urchin duty all right octonauts start moving urchins to the rocky reef [Music] haven't you ever seen a whale with a sunburn before this may be another ghost trick or this may not be a ghost at all ghost who are you calling a ghost i'm a humpback whale i just happen to be completely white nice try but you're pink i've got sunburn on my back and it doesn't feel very good to have you lot climbing all over it ouch that must really hurt ah well it's my own fault yesterday i spent too much time near the surface and got this nasty burn from the sun with a burn like that you should stay down here at the bottom out of the sun i'd like to but uh i can't hold my breath forever i have to go up for air every 15 minutes the sun will be coming up again soon unless we do something your sunburn will get even worse i know just the solution captain 100 cc's of super soothing beluga strength underwater sun cream [Music] uh peso phew yes captain i think we're gonna need more sun cream a lot more but that was my last bottle let's see it's made from water sea slime mushroom coral mucus mushroom coral that's it what's he going on about once me pirate days i found myself washed up on a desert island the only thing that protected me from the scorching sun was a mushroom coral it grows in the shallows and makes its own oily oozy sun cream that sounds disgusting it sounds perfect let's go hold on quasi there's not enough time to find the mushroom coral and bring it back here before the sun comes up he'll have to come with us i'm sorry mate but i'm not fit for swimming that far this sunburn really hurts if we can't bring the coral to the whale we'll bring the whale to the coral how are we going to move a whale come in tweak we're going to need some gup backup here you got it cap which cup do you need all of them octonauts let's pick up the pace we've got to get this whale to the coral before sunrise hang on big guy we're almost there we should find some mushroom corals in the shallow water up ahead truly amazing an albino humpback wheel albino every now and then a whale will be born that's completely white and albino it's a very rare sight indeed listen mate i can't stay under forever how about taking me up with some air captain the whale needs to take a breath got it quasi you copy i copy captain watch that fin tweak are you there right here cap we've got to bring our friend here up for air get ready to surface octonauts let's do this we have to hurry the sun will be coming up any minute now ahoy mushroom coral straight ahead uh-oh looks like we've got company a school of squid we'll go around them at this speed we can't turn fast enough to go around them what should we do captain an emergency drop i don't think i like the sound of this those coral are our on the count of three one two three nice driving back there excellent work octonauts but we've still got a lot more work to do [Music] we're not hurting the coral are we mushroom corals are tough and aren't attached to anything they don't mind being moved around a bit just a bit more and finished huh a coral that makes sun cream i never knew there was such a thing oh i never knew there was such a thing as a white and pink whale thanks i think i feel it
