Zwilling Pro VS Wusthof Ikon Classic Chef's Knife - (Zwilling J. A. Henckels)

In this video, we are going to compare the Zwilling Pro with The Wusthof Ikon Classic chef's knife. The reason to go for those knives is the sturdiness, durability, weight, and the balance point that accommodates the rocking motion. There is not a lot of differences between those brands therefore it is important to know what is more important to you. There is pretty much no difference in the handles from the Wusthof Classic and the Zwilling Pro. The biggest difference is with the Wusthof Ikon and that is where I will focus the comparison on. Both knives are back-heavy if you pinch at the blade. However, if you pinch grip the handle then there is a slight difference. The Zwilling would not be front or back heavy so balanced at the gripping point at the handle. The Wusthof Ikon will still be back heavy so if you are looking for a back heavy knife and you pinch at the handle then the Wusthof Ikon is the better choice. There is a difference in handle design the Zwilling has a curved butt wich will stop your hand from slipping to far. The Wusthof Ikon on the other hand has a curved front which also prevents you from slipping. Since the Ikon curved upper handle design and the curved front force you in the most comfortable position for that knife. It is not recommended to buy the Wusthof Ikon if you prefer to pinch at the blade. The Wusthof edge retention is slightly better than the Zwilling but only noticeable if you compare them side by side and that is not a good reason to choose the Wusthof over the Zwilling. Since it is not noticeable during normal use. They are both sturdy knives with the same spine thickness of 3.4milimiters, they both have a spine tapering so thicker at the heel and thinner at the front. The Wusthof Ikon is also a bit heavier but that is also not noticeable unless you hold them side by side. In the end, it is all about how comfortable the knife is and if it suits your preferences. If you like the pinch grip at the blade while maintaining a back heavy balance point then the Zwilling is a better solution because the curved cap that adds extra comfort. If you are a pinch gripper at the handle keep in mind that the Zwilling Pro is neither front nor back heavy therefore you lose the slight extra push which accommodates the rocking motion. The Wusthof Classic is similar to the Zwilling Pro but the only difference is basically the curved cap on the Zwilling. The Wusthof Ikon has a high preference for people that want a back heavy balance point while gripping at the handle. The handle design accommodates the handle grip because of the curved handle which sits very comfortably in your palm. If you prefer the pinch grip at the blade then the Wusthof Ikon is not the best choice since you don't benefit from the new handle design at all.
