Zeiss Complete lens portfolio 2024 - Every Lens Option from ClearView to PhotoFusion X

if you want the best Vision possible you want your lenses to be made by Zeiss and in today's video I'm going to be explaining everything you need to know to spec your own zece lenses from the material choice to the lens technology to the treatment and the Coatings and everything in between so hi I'm Robert sty and vision consultant here at the spectacle Factory it's my job to pair you with your perfect pair of glasses and whilst we deal with all of the major lens Brands out there if a client asks me what would I recommend I'll almost most always say Zeiss lenses their level of quality is world-renowned across multiple Industries it's not just spectacle lenses if you want the best camera lens the best telescopes the best microscopes binoculars rifle scopes you go to Zeiss but when it comes to Zeiss spectacle lenses the options can be quite confusing so that is what this video is all about I'm going to simplify those options and we've made videos before about Zeiss lenses but I've not covered literally everything in the Zeiss portfolio as I'm planning to do today and also Al it's 2024 things change there are new technologies out there that we haven't covered before let's start by talking about the lens material options so Zeiss Germany which is distinct from the other manufacturers who produce Zeiss lenses all over the world where often in different markets the Zeiss name is licensed and then made by independent Labs Zeiss Germany work with a specific set of materials so you have cr39 being kind of the standard plastic and then you have higher index Plastics which are therefore thinner and lighter all the way up to 1.74 index you can also get your zece lenses made from Trix which I've said in previous videos is probably the best all round lens material there is the reason for that is because Trix combines excellent Clarity with Incredible durability and is very very lightweight hence why it's called Tri Vex those three properties make it pretty special but my favorite lens material to work with for a lot of orders is actually glass real original glass if you look at any high-end camera lens it will almost always be made from glass and the reason is because glass produces the absolute clearest and purest Optics if you want to see something in the most realistic way possible the most definition a Glass Lens will give you that and whilst most spectacle lens manufacturers in the world have moved away from glass Zeiss still makes really high quality glass lenses they're also the thinnest that you can get so if you have a high prescription it's something that I strongly recommend so once you've chosen the lens material that's right for you the next thing is to choose the lens design and there are a few out there the standard Zeiss lens design is clear view this was introduced last year and represented a huge advancement in the production of stock lenses what we mean by stock lenses are lenses that are more mass produced by producing lenses in that way they were able to reduce the cost price but crucially for Zeiss while still maintaining the highest level of quality and Clear View lenses are the Pinnacle really of stock lenses the reason for that is they have 700 points of clarity around the lens which means that no matter or almost no matter what angle you look at your vision will be crystal clear I also noticed that the sharpness on Clear View lenses was extreme actually the sharpness of Clear View lenses is very very close to Glass in my personal experience and our Clear View lenses come standard with dur Vision Platinum which is super scratch resistant easy to clean waterproof antistatic and anti-reflective as well and just like all Zeiss lenses and this is a huge game Cher they have complete sunglass level UV protection that is one of actually the main reasons to recommend ice lenses UV protection is crucial for the health of your eyes and knowing that any Zeiss lens will protect you from the harmful rays of the sun even if it's completely untinted for me is incredible but Clear View is only available for single Vision lens wearers so that means people who are either younger and therefore don't need very focals or progressive lenses or older clients who want lenses just for a given task if you just want a pair of reading glasses pure reading glasses a clear view lens will give you excellent Clarity for reading but while Clear View might sound incredible we can go much higher my personal lens of choice from Ze is smart life technology this was a huge innovation in the Ia industry when Z unveiled it back in 2019 I think since 2019 Smart Life lenses have a 99.9% acceptance rate that means that only one in a thousand people does not like smart life lenses what is the principle behind smart life well Zeiss performed a lot of research and Zeiss are fundamentally a research-based company that is what distinguishes them from all the other lens manufacturers Ze ultimately are constantly researching around the field of Optics whether that's spectacle lenses or all the aspects that they're involved with anyway Ze performed their research and they were monitoring how ouris behave in a modern day lifestyle and the results are pretty obvious obviously typically we spend a lot of time with digital devices whether that's our phones our SmartWatches cameras laptops PCS or Maxs and all the other digital displays that we're surrounded by Even in our cars nowadays and it's no surprise that that has affected our visual Behavior as it's known interestingly we use our proof of vision more than ever before that was a surprise to the scientists because when we're actually looking at a smartphone our brain is actually Computing what's going on around us and we use our periperal vision to judge that but also we tend to hold digital devices at specific angles and specific distances from our eyes and that has an effect on how the muscles work so smart life lenses contain optimizations that are designed to reduce the strain on those muscles make your vision more comfortable when you're interacting with digital devices throughout the day give you that amazing Crystal Clear periperal Vision which for me is just unbelievable with my smart life lenses I can look literally in any direction and see perfectly smart life for me is like the ultimate Z lens so it's the one that I recommend the most and it's the one that I wear myself most of the time however drive safe technology from Zeiss which is I think the oldest current technology in their portfolio is equally as good as smart life but tuned in a different way you see in the field of Optics we have a scale with Comfort at one end and Clarity at the other and generally we find it more comfortable if things are not overly sharp now clear view for example is tuned towards sharpness smart life is tuned towards comfort so whilst I say Drive safy is equally good it's probably not as natural a lens lens and as comfortable a lens to wear a smart life but it does give you the same Clarity of periperal vision if not a little bit better because it's designed for a static environment when you're sat behind the wheel and all you want to do is check your wing mirrors accurately and see the road ahead with perfect sharpness drive safe lenses also contain a filter which reduces glare from oncoming traffic which is useful not just at night time but also in the rain now both smart life and drive safe Technologies can be made in both single vision and progressive lenses so Progressive are for older clients who need reading glasses and with smart life there's actually a category in between which again is what I personally wear myself which is called a digital lens I've covered digital lenses before on this channel but essentially they're kind of a hybrid between single focus and progressive lenses for people who use digital devices even more than the average which I personally do now there's one last and often overlooked lens design in the Zeiss portfolio and that is energize me energize lenses are designed for contact lens wearers so for people who wear contact lenses either most of the time or about equally as much as they wear their glasses and the concept behind energis me is that it allows you to easily change between your contacts and your glasses without noticing too much difference in the vision that you get between them which is a conventional problem for contact lens wearers the other thing is that they are designed by combining a few different Technologies like a blue light filter to give your eyes a refreshing feeling at the end of the day so most contact lens wearers they take their contacts out at the end of the day and they put their glasses on and those lenses give you like an instant refreshment it's kind of gimmicky but it's also the lowest price size lens so it's really good for contact lens wearers who possibly don't want to spend as much on their glasses so few that's all the Zeiss lens Technologies out of the way but once you've chosen the material and the technology we still have the treatments and the Coatings to add and that's where it gets really exciting we've covered so much on this channel about custom tints beautiful different colors that you can apply to your lenses to really enhance your vision and enhance your style and for me Zeiss make the best tints in the world I've visited the island Factory in Germany and I've seen the individuals who actually tint the lenses there at their Factory an interesting fact is that they only employ women because they have better color vision on average than men and their color accuracy their ability to reproduce colors in different prescriptions is absolutely unmatched the beautiful Sumptuous colors that SC produce in their Factory is one of the main reasons why I love to partner with them because I know I can create masterpieces for my clients and those tint colors can be combined with a flash coating which is a reflective finish on the surface of the lenses for example on my pair I have the Sapphire flash coating which has this kind of blue iridescence to it and when you combine a tint with a flash coating that's where you really really perfect your glasses but it's not just tints that you can apply you can also add Technologies like photofusion or adaptive sun again we have videos on those topics photofusion is ze's lens technology that goes from Clear inside to dark outside so they essentially act as Sunglasses if you're Outdoors photofusion is known to be the world's fastest photochromic lens it's 80% faster than the previous generation and to be honest they've reached the point where you don't need them to be any faster they're fast enough where you would not notice that they're changing which for me was a Breaking Point in the sense that I can now recommend photofusion lenses to pretty much anybody photo Fusion also has inherently blue light blocking Blue Guard is I's inbuilt technology that they can apply to almost any lens which provides blue light protection and whether you're for that or against that because it is quite a controversial subject it's a good thing to have because it's not expensive to add and it can't hurt to have it and it might potentially help you with things like Sleep p and maybe it might help with long-term eye disease although none of that is of course proven now probably my favorite lens treatment from Zeiss is adaptive sun and those are lenses which go from a moderate tint to a super super dark tint when exposed to UV at least in the brightest conditions that means you've not only got the most protective sunglasses in the world when you need them to be but you also have a usable tint the rest of the time when it might not be super Sunny so you can step indoors with adapters and lenses and still see fine or you can step into the shade they're excellent for driving they're just brilliant all around sunglass lenses adaptive sun is a very underrated lens technology and it's one that I would strongly recommend that you get if you don't already have it in your eyewear wardrobe
