good evening Once Upon a Time governmental resignation or departure letters and statements were polite Affairs where resentment and frustration were carefully hidden in ritualistic politeness but if Suella bravman first controversially used the term hate to describe pro pro Palestinian protests a fortnight ago it was hard to describe her broadside today as anything but a hate letter fired yesterday as Home Secretary Mrs braan back today with three pages of vitriol she said rishy sunak had no mandate to be prime minister and had only got the job with her backing humility not necessarily her strong point he had betrayed her trust and that of the British people she went on over stopping the migrant boats amongst other promises uplifting it certainly was not and the party looks more split than ever tonight a new look cabinet with even a former prime minister looking on Rich she sunak was hoping today would be a fresh start with his brand new Team all singing from the same hym sheet our purpose is nothing less than to make the long-term decisions they're going to change our country for the better and I know that this strong and United team is going to deliver that change a seemingly not so subtle dig about the outspoken and outgoing Home Secretary who today finally responded to being sacked and she did not hold back in a scathing three Page Letter soel braan says to Rishi sunak she accepted the job as Home Secretary despite you being rejected by a majority of party members during the summer Leadership contest and thus having no personal mandate to be prime minister she goes on and talks about the political pledges they made together and says you have manifestly and repeatedly failed to deliver on every single one of these key policies I must surely conclude now you never had any intention of keeping your promises she then says you opted for wishful thinking as a comfort blanket to avoid making hard choices and concludes by saying the Prime Minister has been uncertain weak and lacking in the qualities of leadership this country needs it is a devastating letter indicative of a divided party today a group of Tory backbenchers raised concerns about the reshuffle worried that Suella Bran's sacking was an indication that the Prime Minister had changed Direction she stood for and she spoke for the majority of the public on the questions that raised controversy around these marches that we've seen in London around Law and Order around migration and and illegal migration my concern is about the overall policy direction that the reshuffle seems to indicate we were elected in 2019 all of us on a Manifesto to fulfill the great demand for change that the country was crying out for those MPS are fearful that the prime minister is no longer focused on keeping the red wo seats they won for the first time in 2019 concerns that the newly appointed conservative party chairman battered away well as a red War MP and north of England a party member ever since uh the early 2000s you know I've always campaigned right across the country and we're going to need to win votes in every part of the country the conservative party is the only party which stands in elections in every part of the United Kingdom and I want to win everywhere reshuffles are never easy there are always winners and losers but the implications of the decision to sack the Home Secretary could come back to haunt rishy sunak sheab card News at 10 Westminster okay to get some reaction all that as you can see I have both uh Anushka and Robert here look we've had divided political parties before mid99s under major blairites and brownit it feels like this is something more they really seem to dislike each other quite viscerally is that fair and we've got big things coming up even big judgment tomorrow what what's your take on well it's the toxic combination of very big differences of ideas of ideology of dogma and of course uh rampant ambition on both both sides one wants to remain prime minister the other one wants to become Prime Minister uh you're right it is one of the possibly the angriest resignation letter I've ever read um and it's also forensic in the way that it attacks the government or attacks Ry Sun personally for what she says is letting him down on these absolutely Central issues that she claims not only matter to her but she also uses this phrase the silent majority that gave them that very big electoral victory in 2019 and you know it's everything from you know what kids are taught in schools on you know the nature of being a woman uh through to her Fury the he abandoned plans to rip up those uh Arrangements uh that uh created a sort of a border in the sea between Northern Ireland uh and England and then a lot of stuff about immigration and two elements of immigration she doesn't think the government is doing enough uh to restrict legal immigration she thinks visas should be harder to get for students and people to come here to work and then she you know is you know pretty f ious about you know he's not doing enough to change human rights Protections in this country uh so that she can ship people off or she wanted to ship people off to Rwanda uh and you know so really big points of difference and on Rwanda it's hard to overstate the significance to some conservative MPS of what's coming tomorrow we're going to get a supreme court judgment on whether the Rwanda policy is lawful or not the court of appeal found it was unlawful although there was one dissenting voice and the Supreme Court are going to decide tomorrow whether they are right or not speaking to tories on the right of the party they're very very nervous they're planning to meet together after that judgment tomorrow they will be calling if the government you know lose to leave the European convention on human rights even liberal Tory MPS one said to me I hate the Rwanda policy but I accept electorally Rishi sunat needs to get the planes going out there the government are pretty pessimistic although they hope that if they lose it could be a qualified judgment you need to change the policy but it can still work in the end but they know this is pretty difficult Rishi sunak will have to come out quite hard tomorrow and if they win then all the pressure will be on to try and get a flight out and tonight I've learned from one charity care for Cal they've got around a thousand clients Asylum Seekers who've been given letters warning that they could be in line to go to Rwanda and I mean just to put all of this into context all parties are coalitions labor is a coalition I mean G doesn't like protests from his left wing at the moment particularly over whether there should be a ceasefire but you know what Richie Zak wanted to do with his reshuffle sacking Suella bravman bringing in um you David Cameron was to at least bring Unity to his cabinet now he may or may not have achieved that we'll see in the coming weeks but one thing is absolutely clear is he's sown much greater disunity on the back benches and winning or at least even closing the Gap with labor against the background of this kind of Civil War it's impossible
