ryoming sukuna the walking Calamity goes by many epithets such as the fallen and the king of curses he is one who once had so much power that humans would hold festivals and ceremonies for him as if he was a deity all this in order to gain his favor and be spared from his Conquest in a series of Jujutsu kaisen ryoman sukuna is a cold selfish narcissistic power-hungry sadist who lives up to his name as the king of curses but is there any more to him than this is sukuna no more than a chaotic Beast who once shared a body with our protagonist Yuji and now it's just some big bad evil chaotic villain running around in the deuteragonist megamy's body of course there is or this video wouldn't be longer than a minute in this video I'll be exploring sukuna's character mentality and philosophy in order to help viewers understand the character better because from what I've seen most seem to think that sukuna is just chaotic for the sake of being chaotic and that there isn't much more to him as a character I see quite a bit more than that and it may just surprise you when we are first introduced to sukuna he takes over the body of our protagonist Yuji this happens due to Yuji consuming a remnant of his power once Akuna manifests himself within yuji's body the first thing he does is instantly obliterate a curse in front of him in order to display his power and in order for him to convey his sadism and evil to the audience the first thing sakuna does is yell a curse spirit's flesh is no fun where are the people the woman what a wonderful age it has become women and children spawning everywhere like maggots take note of this quote especially the part where sakuna compares to women and children to maggots later on when sakuna finds out that Gojo's not the person who runs Jujutsu high he proceeds to say what a disappointment I thought you were the leader a hierarchy not based purely on strength is boring if you ask me judging from this statement of sukunas we can see that sukuna believes in might makes right and the amount of strength that one has correlates with the value they have in his eyes if you are the strongest then you are the one who deserves the rule I also see this quote as a way of sukuna giving Gojo the utmost respect he knows how to give basically admitting that from their tiny scuffle in Chapter 2 you found Gojo to be such a powerful and capable sorcerer that he expected him to rule the entire modern era and this is why he goes on the state to Gojo that Gojo will be the first one he kills once he fully regains his body back as due to his extreme narcissism he cannot allow anybody to have more value than it and this statement from tsukuna is a promise that he may or may not keep this quote's very tiny and quick yet it does a very solid job at laying out a good foundation for sukuna's character which has only been reinforced as the story went on and as we've learned more about sukuna himself and the heian era but what is the heian era exactly this era is referred to as the Golden Age of Jujutsu this age was where Jujutsu Sorcerers were at their absolute peak in terms of power this is where absolute monsters such as Earl takako a sorcerer who can bend and shatter space our own will and urozu another source who was stated to have the power to defeat uro and her entire team at the same time completely ran a muck it was in this era that sakuna remained both unparalleled and unbeaten as it was even stated that in the Golden Age of Jujutsu the Jutsu Sorcerers had sharpened their skills against him but were ultimately defeated the strength of sorcerers in this time period were on another level yet again sukune came far and Above the Rest this same era that was referred to as the Golden Age was the same era that sakuna completely dominated with ease as this was a battle-driven era where sukuna was even preyed to and revered as a God by Villages that even housed monsters such as yorozu in order to have its blessing and good will you can see the kind of environment that sukuna was completely engaged with and furthermore one he completely thrived in Mike was right in sukuna's World it may have not been seen as objectively correct by all but correct enough to give one the status of a deity and in order to reinforce that sukuna firmly believes it might is right when sukuna fights heroes in present time and her sponsor asking what she would give her in the case that she defeated him sukuna says everything it's Unthinkable that I would lose but if I do defeat is no different than death whatever you wish to do with my corpse is up to you sukun is saying this to your Rosie essentially means that he'd submit to anybody that were able to defeat him in a battle as losing is an equivalent to death history strongest sorcerer and to further drive this point in chapter 214 Yuji snaps against sukuna after he steals his best friend's body and proceeds to seemingly kill Hana karusu [Music] oh [Music] okay [Music] foreign loses it and begins to seemingly beat down sakuna he asked sakuna you why can't you jerks just live a normal life why do you have to spread misery sukuna then says in response to this well allow me to ask why are you so weak you're weak yet you cling to life continuing on your path means destruction yet you wish to be as happy for as long as possible you should spend your life stifling your misery sakuna is saying this essentially confirms everything that we need to know about him in my opinion to break this quote down piece by piece we start with sukuna asking Yuji why are you so weak in response to Yuji asking why do you need to spread misery this is a complete parallel to Yuji the way that ugc spreading misery as something that is fundamentally evil and incorrect is the same way that sukuna sees being weak as fundamentally evil and incorrect to be weak is to be wrong as sukuna goes on he says you're weak yet you cling to life reinforcing the notion that being weak and believing you deserve to live just makes no sense to him the weak deserve to die it's as simple as that continuing on your path means destruction yet you wish to be happy for as long as possible you should spend your lives stifling your misery with this final line sapuna reinforces his beliefs it gives Yuji the final blow to come to understand that they will never be able to coexist nor will they ever understand one another I almost forgot these guys are and always will be curses Yuji charges through the never-ending barrage of sukuna slashes can share will and his responsibility to be the one to end sukuna once and for all and proceeds the land of punch in his face in a way you can interpret this physical exchange at secunda's philosophy versus yuji's philosophy as the coolness might makes right mentality is represented through the multitude of slashes yuji's philosophy is represented by the fact that he's relying on his emotions or namely the unbridled rage towards sukuna to force himself to withstand and walk through his reign of slashes Yuji and sukuna were confirmed to never have even spoken outside of the scenes we see them in the series despite them sharing a body for an extended amount of time and it's because there's no purpose in the two of them even attempting to speak to one another Yuji and sukuna are two different beings who are nurtured in two completely different eras and with enough success and respective philosophies for their beliefs to be synonymous with the people that they are especially sukuna ryoming sukuna only values power the same way that Yuji and others value empathy and kindness the more power you have the more value you have as a person to tsukuna in the same way that in our society the more empathy kindness and other traits you may have gives you more value and these philosophies are nothing but opposites this is why sukuna is such a fitting antagonist for Yuji and again why Yuji will stop at nothing in order to kill sukuna and yuji's eyes sakuna is everything Yuji cannot stand for and because of this he will stop at nothing in order to eradicate him for good this mindset of tsukunas is also I believe that he speaks to kenjaku cordially and even allows him to give him an order in certain circumstances not to say that kanjaku is stronger than sukuna but as The Story Goes On we learn more and more about the intricacies of Jujutsu and we seem to get a better understanding of how kenjaku truly is with some of the strongest characters stating that his technique of a burialist domain is impossible kanjaku seems to be much stronger than the rest of the cast and someone that sukuna would respect due to his immense power and knowledge I also think that this is why he honored Gojo's request awaiting one month before their battle although sukuna dislikes Gojo and wants to kill him at all costs you cannot deny that he sees immense respect for the sorcerer as when he was lecturing jogo he explicitly States you should have burnt everything you desire to ascend her without thinking to reach the heights of satoru Gojo and not worry about the future identity but you lack the hunger to take hold of your desires in this speech sukuna does kind of confirm that he perceives Gojo as someone who knows how to become strong and someone who has a very high level of strength furthermore after sukuna and Gojo declare that they'll be fighting in the future so kuna does think of yorozu's quote saying that absolute strength in the Solitude that comes along with it the one that will teach you about love is in this quote showing after he clashes with Gojo kind of confirms that Gojo's the only character who can allow sapuna to feel anything beyond a desire to eradicate everything in his path due to the amount of power that he possesses power that even Rivals sakunas himself una does see Gojo as a rival and that's something he'd even admit if he were asked viewers have wondered for Aegis as the house of kuna naturally became as strong as he is today and have wanted a flashback to display that but I do believe that the answer to sukuna's strength is his way of life that seems unreasonable to most other sorcerers we've seen in this series zakuna believed that strength was what determined his value and thus he doesn't make it just a goal but his entire purpose is to obtain strength naturally he'd make becoming more powerful than anything else in existence to be his primary focus in life the same way kenjaku is obsessed with finding the answer to what lies Beyond cursed energy it has led up to him knowing more than anybody else in the series and even concocting a plan that was pulling enough to overcome and temporarily subdue satoru Gojo for an extended amount of time so cool has gone out of his way to possess megumi's body he utilize the 10 Shadows however I don't believe sapuna needed to take over megany's body for the sake of battling against Gojo but it's more so if the clinic can have more access to more power then why not take it I would even go as far to say that so couldn't would think of himself to be no more than an idiot if he were to pass up on a chance to receive such a power boost all in all I do think that sukuna's mentality and perception of the world is just fundamentally different from the rest of the cast and the viewers in Jujutsu kaisu and if I had to theorize as to why it'd most likely be from the positive reinforcement he obtained through having such unparalleled strength in his life and possibly other factors that influence his belief and strength correlating in value although it can really be anything what just makes this so interesting to me is that zukuna doesn't get why Yuji lives the way he does and vice versa it doesn't make sense to sukuna that might doesn't make right in today's society and as that's the way it's always been for him in the world he came from he can't see himself not really doing anything wrong whatsoever although that's unlikely as sakuna said the urozu defeat is the equivalent to death one can also interpret the opposite as victory being the equivalent to life for sukuna so kuna completely thrived in battle and was obsessed with Victory as it was the most reliable way to determine one's strength as a sorcerer and having such an obsession as a sorcerer most likely played a gigantic role into him gaining enough strength to be referred to as history strongest with sakuna facing Gojo currently in the manga one thing is certain Gojo is no more than a test for secunda's unparalleled strength loneliness and title Gojo represents the future whereas the colon represents the past a man who wants to entrust the future onto his students and a man who comes from the past to conquer once more a deity who was truly hurt and scarred the most by the loss of a friend against a deity who doesn't have the slightest idea of what empathy is one who wants to rely on others whereas the other
