well I found a bit of a project tucked away in the back of the yard back at the workshop XPS 11 under custom and got a box of bits like their seat pan forward control controls real light my god brackets bits and pieces so where the tanks I'm wearing a seat see what we can do with it see we make a good-looking bike out of this thing don't like the headlights or the spotlights don't know the indicators don't like the crash bars don't like the exhaust don't like the fenders what do I like yeah XPS 11 under no ideal bikes you get this swing arm in the back so that's the back of the frame being cut off and just repaired the cuts I didn't like that windscreen so I started taking it apart one of the bolts was seized so it's like a stainless bolt into the aluminium yoke and you'll see in a minute I was really struggling with that and had to get the water out and weld a nut onto the end of the bolt was study was led to extract it so here's the crash pass coming off two brackets one either side of Ottoman su bolsa top and Super Bowls out quite corroded actually little bit damaged probably the only good for powder coating and refit into a rat bike something like that and I hear when the spring pinned off into a pile of cardboard which was rather frustrating but surprisingly I found it so let's get on the ramp on the this is a big blue Easy Rider lift absolutely ideal with these bikes they've got two big rails at run underneath so put the rear wheel out taking the disk off those bolts and rub devils and one of them rounded I'm not using that word again I had another wheel powder-coated well there it is to put a dip in slide it in juice without the bike on the ground when you're doing this so you don't have to lift the wheel you just rolled it in so just cleaning that word up a bit dusty we stay around for a while and found the oh the Apple shaft to the gearbox being pushed off into the diff a little bit grubbing so that cleaned up nicely so picked up the number plate light and don't like lamp holder so that goes onto the swing on and put in the number plate here just small plates not strictly legal so you have to put a big plate on for them ot so that cookie goes in looks really neat begin to see what the bites can stop to look like so attack the crime little bit those casings in the Taurus on yamaha Kuro D but this one's only done 7,000 miles so they're in they're in pretty good shape so if you've got this for during the time lapse videos you'll see we've done the back end and we've hacked off the back of the the back frame of the boy painted down here we switched the wheels and because the original wheel was chrome and consoles best I had this ready and a better tire that one was a bit flat in the center then with cream cleaned a bit of the chrome and we've got the front end to deal with I'm still undecided about these lights I've taken the little Peaks off them to look a little bit a bit dated but so I'll go on today with cleaning up the front end and then these Forks if you notice there's quite a lot of pitting so what's happened here it's a little stone or little these critters hit the lacquer pierced it and allowed moisture to get in and is lifting and lacquer so what I'll do is I'll strip the front end down well got a new wheel for the front end here it's being powder coated already so I'll strip the front end down this afternoon clean it all up and what I'll do with these four legs he's all oh I'm six or eight hundred wet and dry them then a thousand then twelve hundred and then polish them so you had a good look at what did it are now so let's see what they look like when of attack them but I think we're getting there back in that was good didn't it no plate holder well that's cool so we'll do that or the other thing is a parcels arrived at the exhaustion so it's about that so I'm skipping the front end down taking the wheel off I'll take that as disks roaches off put them on a new wheel you just see so searching through much stock of wet to dry and I was attacking this I started I think with 240 bit of brake clean and they're going on get rid of any grease or oil on it and no sacking with 240 then 800 I couldn't really get through the lacquer it was coming off in places and not in others and I was unhappy with the finish I was cleaning but I kept at it for a while it's important to get all the nooks and crannies she's quite a time consuming job really quite messy I've spent a good hour doing that I think so I was drawing them off just warmed them up a little bit again moisture was held on the surface gone and then I was mastering the bicolor just change my mind really rather than polishing them yeah I decided to paint them so give it like a good wrap up not getting any overspray anyway and give a prime and warmed it up left it for an hour or so and then he was some matte black to had in stock the glossy they're done with the paint wait that's a big improvement once it you need to be aware of his I've got the rear wheel just shocked when you take front lid off he sort of upset the balance of the bike on understand and it feels like it's gonna tip over so here's the tank bit dusty it's been painted about a year ago and the seat pan just line that up and then had to drill through with a bolts coat and the batter and the drill went flat so just spend the time when that was charged he'd building up a speedometer and he's from cluster good things that polish while I'm at it so every party take off polish put back ready to rock and roll it draws shots up again so finished that drilling of the sleeper that time to plan with the front forks as you can see and what's getting through the lacquer and couldn't really get the finish that I wanted so I sprayed them satin black look quite good a bit well with the with the black wheels tanks go up nice so the new box arrived for the roaches put those on this second wheel that I hadn't already powder-coated clean number ten million discus tensed up this near the center the wheel so sending the C on the seat pan and the springs running high quality products it's all lovely powder coated parts so I'll attack that light bar that's all gone to the headlight off took me a while to work out how to bound the indicators well until then nickel chrome with dark lenses and two filament bulbs which I wiped together selling of ultra bright I think I've got it in the end and worked out how they go they seem to foul the yoke but got there in the end and the wiring and a lot of people in front of the wiring it's very simple there's some only two wires really out of each indicator and in the headlight there's two wires which is controlling in the coaches ones green ones brown I forget which is less than which is right but it's really very simple you just have an earth and a feed for each indicator there's always the problem of a bit of a nest of wires that you end up with and trying to get them all back into the headlight bowl and on this bike because it's a custom you get this small headline so then when I tighten the wires up before I put it all back and take a bit more the sheathing off so it gave me more room inside just notice beneath beneath that indicator there's an bolt missing on the yoke testing it all out got main beam dipping well here the exhaust is arrived came in three parts you don't need that down right from me so here's a very simple process of fitting the exhaust just slip off the rear two pipes there was one unit oh we have to fit the top on first as you can see there I'll try to flip the bottom one first so fill top undo the clamp up to the bolt up put the bolt in did come up on the second one and we're on it still it what's happened when you put when you improve the breathing of the bike by putting exhaust openings or swim you need to reject the carbs or adjust but primary pyro mixture screw anyway they tell what is going on and I'll add some really make them weatherproof by shrimp wrapping all the wires and there's an earth wire as well that goes on but that was it means to sort of cloaking cowl that goes over the back of it the light on the front of the light of an image he keepeth while just right for that so putting him fiber sheathing over it and then he tie wrap into the swingarm bringing into the area under the seat so lovely light LED lamp there's that little column going on money doesn't make a nice pretty it's very bright as well which is kind of reassuring when you ride the bike as you can see indicators working and just testing a brake brake light now taking the foot controls off foot pegs disassemble to ball hang on shock blasted and powder-coated what was happening here I was put them on that's the brake light switch that goes on but had a problem with that brake pedal in that some of the powder coating was on the shaft so scrape the powder coating off just that's what I was doing there and increased you up and you want a lot of free moving index there's not a very strong spring that pulls the pedal back up when you've used it and in just testing it and adjusting a 17 mil spanner you just lift the switch to make it bit more sense to you so it's time to put one of the side panels back on this is the locking side panel on the near side so give it a good clean up getting all the looks and crannies before you put it back and give it a Polish pretty well doesn't it and so the chrome panel you get on a custom and you don't get out of touch you get a paint chip on just keeping the bike clean and getting we're gonna looks and crannies a bit of oil down there bit of road dirt I'm really enjoying this bit so here's the other side paddock going on this has got a screw his he covers a battery and there was a bit of marking inside that little little hold to stay where I'm working now and I put and got a new stainless steel bolt go in there seats on rear indicators are on I was changing the spark plugs here spark plugs on boys have seen a life of their own once they once they foul there's no coming back for it and despite having run for a couple of years so I'll put some new plugs in it just to make sure markers but easier so just come put it back on the fuel in no I couldn't plug Z I put that down the fuel in have you near that backbone think about it so brake callipers back on see I had them hanging up so they weren't stressing the pipes while I was working on their Forks because leave you calipers hanging there tend to damage the supply pipes or strain them at the best you're probably remember that following a lot and we've change the pipes so we changed the volume of air that's going through the engine but we haven't changed the mixture of the parts so it's running brew and lean and that's why it's backfiring so there's unburned so it's not firing properly into the cylinders because there's not enough fuel and there's unbelief you're going down the exhaust pipes and igniting that's what's causing a backfire so actually what happens with more volume of air going through it because we've improved the breathing with the opening source we increase the amount of fuel that's going in by adjusting the pilot mixture screw and I'll show you what it is but I'll show you the effects I've opened up each of the five mixes with both the cops probably a turn and a half and just look back for so let's see what sound [Music] I noticed at this point then it was just the real cylinder that was popping still so see if we can just very tricky to get that still morning I'll arrange the mixture in crucem it's at the island you picked up considerably I'm about to drop yard down it said quite a marked effect so I appear to be a combination of mix mixing up to lead and we are setting the table too far so next thing that's crossed my mind is that the clutch might be stuck on this so what I'm going to do is start it out engage gear with the wheel just off the ground and then use the foot rope to stop the wheel make sure the clutch is free well if the touch was frozen it's now not so well there's nothing out the way now to get the brackets around the rear fender or not drop the air pressure in the tires quite a bit if you just drop the air pressure you can get the part on so just to inflate the tires to the correct pressure which is 32 psi front and rear with I've probably put them at 31 because of take some weight off the bottom well we're nearing completion now just have a recap of what we've done we've changed both both the wheels for powder coated wheels we've fitted a lovely higher-quality solo seat and seat pan on Springs now this is an Alan William painted rear fender black nickel chrome indicators pave hawk short shots or long shots whatever you call them - Pikes a powder coated all the foot controls and brackets build up a bit tired had the tank painted black front fender painted back with painted the front fork matte black again nickel chrome indicators removed that ivory passing light bar didn't really sue the bike again panna cotta wheels part of powder coated foot pegs really light clustered LED light like I said of early 30s for advice I've kept the standard bars and grips and mirrors and that they could change I've got some like a fit what do you think I should change the mirrors the grips got some Avon grips maybe I'll do that it's got a little bolt going here two little bolts it's not there oh yeah I'll show you the [Music] pilot mixture screw there's a pilot mr. screw that is the idle adjustment that why there is to the heater the car Peter and that little castellated screw they're very light you see that that one there no I'm just there that's what you turn out to increase the idle mixture well not only the idle mixture to their mixture throughout the range but it stops it backfiring what do you reckon I think it's better looking than it was let me know like and subscribe next video is it running or riding such respect my successful trips devotee station you have really cracked the backbone Esha pipes nice and warm so no sign of backfire at all all down to adjusting the prior mixture screw and this year's MOTD ready for the road really please the point right beautiful gear changes really slick and easy and performs beautifully so what a lovely bike I think that's better looking than the custom we started with I hope you do hope you've enjoyed watching the bill as much as I've enjoyed building it see you next time you
