[Music] X-Men 97 and the anti woke agenda I like putting anti woke in air quotes you can't see my air quotes but trust me I'm doing it I'm doing air quotes here's what the anti-woke hustlers seem to not understand and I could be wrong air quotes once again Comics Creator and anti- wol grifter Eric jly AKA young Ripper is complaining about the fact that the showrunners behind the new X-Men 97 animated series plans to make the character morph nonbinary calling it woke D oh boy people here we go again let's just ignore the fact that morph is a shape shifter who become literally anyone and swap genders at will to me a person who can do that would naturally consider thems non-binary but no just because morph presents his male when they're not using their powers then he's male smack my head oh my goodness who's to say that morph isn't using powers all of the time I know it's difficult for some of y'all all out there but think about it when Eric jly was countered with the fact that the X-Men comic was always woke he brought up some interviews of Stan Lee saying allegory and social justice and I quote was the fur this thing from my mind end quote okay that's fine maybe Professor X and Magneto weren't originally MLK and Malcolm X analogues but did July dig any deeper of course not folks like him are always surface level thinkers let me explain a writer every writer starts off with an idea it could be I want to write a story about killer oranges dropping down in their victims from the trees let's say how cool would that be pretty straightforward No Agenda Just Killer orange Mayhem and you write just that but as you write a theme emerges I'll say it again a theme emerges good writers can't help but do this bad Writers Do it wrong if at all so what is the definition of theme theme means an idea that recurs in or pervades a work of art or literature for example in our killer oranges story let's say the theme emerges that the threat of climate change or the ill effects of deforestation is what's causing oranges to sprout Limbs and teeth and go on Rampages then the story you're writing or have written becomes about something more all good Timeless stories are about something more sure stanlee initially wrote X-Men because he was being lazy about creating origin stories for weird superpowered people and that he was ripping off DC Comics as the Doom Patrol okay but as he went on he started drawing from what was going on in the world for Content that's how good writers work most writers understand this outright others know it on an instinctual level Stanley may not have started out writing race slcl class allegory or social injustice commentary but to create even that first X-Men story he drew from the issues of the day Magneto in the first issue was harping on mutant racial superiority racial superiority in the first issue in the Beast story Iceman had been locked up in jail for using his powers and the towns folk wanted to rush the Sheriff's Office and pull Iceman out and to do what to Iceman oh I'm certain you know what sound familiar if it wasn't for Cyclops being sent to the building by Professor X and rescuing Iceman poor Bobby Drake would have been lynched would these story Concepts not be considered so-called woke today maybe Lee and Kirby and that's Jack King Kirby to you were oblivious to the deeper meaning of what they were producing Lee more so than Kirby let's be for real Kirby created black panther after he saw what was going on with the Black Panther Party in the Bay area of California and Kirby created Captain America before America entered World War II dude knew what was up but the great X-Men writer Chris clamont understood what the X-Men were about perfectly he saw the seeds of what Stan Lee and Jack Kirby had planted and with giant siiz X-Men number one he was given free reign to do whatever he wanted in order to save a failing comic and clamont leaned heavily into the racial allegory and social injustice commentary by bringing in a diverse group of characters for the new lineup now somebody like Eric jly would cry about oh they're race swapping they race swapped out the original X-Men and brought in these new X-Men meanwhile you know Eric July loves him some storm so please folks this was 1975 when Chris clamont did this then in 1982 clamont wrote the epically Classic X-Men graphic novel God loves man kills this story deals with televangelist Reverend William Striker he wasn't a military leader back then Striker is inspiring his followers to murder mutants yo newon are getting straight up lynched in this book Reverend Striker steals cerebral from Professor X then corrupts its programming to send out a signal through his televangelism Channel and that signal will Target and Fry the brains of every mutant around the world why is Striker doing this because he believes that mutants are the devil and it is his Divine Duty as a Christian man of God to carry this plan out Epic and horrifying stuff but nothing we haven't seen on a more realistic level in the real world by the way the film X2 balls heavily from the storyline but removes the religious elements did I mention that this story came out in 1982 oh I did sorry this story was woke without any subtlety in 1982 placing the X-Men in their proper historical context falls on deaf ears for someone like Eric jly jly the originator of the X-Men was never a woke fallacy is not a good writer try as he might with his Ripper verse he will never become a good writer he's such a terrible writer he couldn't write his name on a paper bag and he turns around and hires old hacks like Chuck Dixon to write played out storylines for this rip of verse Eric jy's media are atrocious at best because he lacks media literacy and like so many others nerd rodic Ryan canel Geeks and Gamers etc etc anti woke has become his grift let's be brutally honest here the Ripper verse is hot garbage say it with me the Ripper verse is hot garbage why because Eric jly is so obsessed with not putting an a genda into his books that they end up being about nothing so also there was an interview back in 2017 that Vox did uh the uh columnist Alex Abad Santos interviewed Chris Claremont and Brett Anderson on the 35th anniversary of God loves man kills and Abad Santos asked an interesting question he asked is it possible to separate personal politics from comic books and Brent Anderson answered he was the artist on uh God loves man kills while Chris clamont was the writer Anderson answered and I quote sure it's possible to exclude politics from comic books but not from art Comics produced through avoidance of the real world are hardly satisfactory on any meaningful artistic level reading them might fill 15 to 30 minutes of time as a momentary distraction but without at least a bit of sociopolitical inference you might as well buy a superhero pinup book to flip through ART may not be the answer to the real world's problems but it certainly makes dealing with them on a personal level a bit easier end quote so of course he wouldn't know a theme if it hit him much less how to include one know this folks the X-Men woke as [ __ ] since [Music] 1963
