nothing like crying into your breakfast to start off the day W when did you break I was on the emotional ropes when Magneto and Rogue were sharing their last glances I was like oh man and Magneto was pushing them back to save them I was like what a guy I totally forgot all the horrible things that he did but then when Magneto in German told leech not to be afraid I lost it I literally broke into tears I I really cried they got got me and I I cried for Gambit as well I mean it was amazing I mean it was it was incredible now yes Magneto he spoken German to leech uh I wonder if leech even speaks German but of course this is a reference to Magneto's past with the Holocaust you know Magneto is the way he is because he's already seen what humans the Despicable Behavior they're capable of with groups they don't like uh and Magneto even flashed back to his childhood in the concentration camps uh during the attack very sophisticated and also I appreciate that they take us you know the audience so seriously and that they don't feel they have to spoon feed us you know like it's just ve it's very it's just so quickly there but it's there and so I that's great what an incredibly powerful episode and B de Mayo recently fired by Disney Marvel is online anyway taking as much deserved Flowers By the way is this a bod de Mayo Cameo I think it is obviously we have no idea what it was like to work with Bo Deo or exactly why he was fired the rumor is is that he was not fun to work with but his actual work is speaking pretty strongly trending number one on Twitter 4 hours ever since the episode dropped this morning at 3:00 a.m. eastern standard time and as of filming this episode still trending number one do you know the last time that happened for a Disney Plus show it's been a while now not even just I'm not even saying it's been a minute it's been a while so this is pretty exciting stuff but the guy responsible he didn't even co-write with anybody he wrote this he doesn't work there anymore so this is a dilemma I was going to ask at the end but I guess I'll just say it now they brought back James gun although of course everybody loved working with James gun at Marvel that's not why he was let go uh but you know kudos to Bo Deo who is active on social media as we just said keeping his WI about him and at least not yet saying anything bad about Marvel that we keep him from being able to be hired back uh he's handling it I think surprisingly well in fact uh because he's out there you know as I said taking his flowers being like don't forget who wrote this thank you very much uh but you know still making it that he he could potentially come back again I don't know why he was fired and so that's that it does make it a tough call because clearly the work is excellent and I I know that you know you know they were pretty excited about this episode so dropping today and now we all now I can see why so we'll see what they decide to do Bo Deo is clearly a huge X-Men fan but also someone willing to push the edge of the envelope and who understands the complexity of the of the X-Men what they stand for what they can stand for you know what you can do with them and that's you know that's unusual that's you know something we have that's been missing from the Marvel space we haven't seen the MCU take this kind of risks and have this kind of gravy because I would say truly since endgame although to be fair to a degree also lowkey season to which featured time travel and so does this show and yes when you've got a time traveling mutant on your roster you can take some risks because cable can reset the reset the whole thing which is clearly what he's trying to do in this episode and he not only fails in the episode but seems to have failed multiple times already and I'm sure he's going to try again probably in the next not the next episode but the one after so the next episode next week's clearly the second half of storm and forge's story where she likely get her P gets her powers back we kind of know what's going to happen but that doesn't mean it's not going to be great to watch it uh then the next episode after that is called Bright Eyes which has not only been a nickname for cable in the comics but also they're focusing on his eyes so much here they're like look at his eyes I mean uh although I got to I mean I guess they work you know when he was about to do the uh the body shift right he did have some Bright Eyes that's true pretty strong telegraphing you know I just said they were very sophisticated and respected the audience but they're giving some stuff away like when they did previously on before the episode and they were like look here's cable where you know I hope he's okay I was like and then they kept talking about cable during the earlier part of the episode I'm like Cable's definitely coming back this time like he's he's definitely going to show up and he sure enough did Will cable reset the timeline and an episode after next I don't know maybe maybe they'll start to set the the the the the at least you know set the table for that right we have a three-part finale after that oh boy three parts but every although considering how strong this episode was oh yeah it can do the weekly but I suspect if you have a three-part finale maybe a resurrected Magneto is really ticked off the title tolerance is extinction seems to make more sense now you know that if mutants tolerate humans it will lead to their Extinction sounds like something Magneto would say or maybe Cyclops the X-Men are being radicalized understandably so considering what's happening to them I mean there's a lot of anger today in real life from a lot of groups also understandably so but with mutants they can do something about their anger you know they can they can really fight back which always you know when you read the read the comics and watch the stories you're like why are you ticking off mutants they have considerable Firepower it's interesting to see Cyclops being radicalized you know too bad the the X-Men don't have a publicity person who could have pulled him out of that interview what are you doing Cyclops man uh but there's something uh that's something that was in the comics uh not written by Grant Morrison we're g to talk about Grant Morrison Kieran Gillan was the one who did radicalized SC Scott Summers but it turned out that he was radicalized cuz he had been corrupted by D the Phoenix Force which led to him killing Charles Xavier and you know he's sleeping with two Jean Grays on this show maybe he caught a little something something from space or maybe he's just really upset about what happened to his son which I think is enough cause the way they've set it up here but uh here on this show Charles is already dead and at least now for now so is Magneto so that would be the perfect situation for a radicalized cyclops to step up just as you know at the end of this episode he's like how many were killed and they're all devastated and cyclops is going to you know he thought was going to step up before but he thought that's interesting he thought he was going to step up and continue Charles's work but it looks like he might be continuing Magneto's work oh I like that I like that a lot so maybe they'll do that you know I'm not sure exactly how things will play out I'm just pretty darn sure that by the end of this season storm will have her powers back and all these dead X-Men will return Thanks to cable and maybe bishop where the heck is Bishop we thought he was going to get a major storyline maybe that's what Bright Eyes will be maybe Bright Eyes will be a flashback as to what happened with cable and then the whole finale three-part finale will be him fixing everything and radicalized cyclops oh that makes I like that Bodo is pretty good I gotta say and overall this episode is a nod to Grant Morrison's iconic run on X-Men one of my favorites uh which started out with the storyline e is for extinction and you know that Bo Deo can do so much juggling with classic comic book story lines you know recent comic book story lines he he really has it all and then also inject his own things in here and like put it together and spin it a way that still seems fresh and new I mean it's extremely impressive uh I mean I wish the X-Men Comics were this good you know maybe that would be a happy medium give Bood Deo a comic maybe right you don't have to work with too many people in that regard uh but again I don't know what happened with him all right so anyway an e is for extinction that's when josha that's where josha in the comics was destroyed by wild Sentinels uh including this insect likee mastermold never liked it but I recognized it I was like oh yeah we meet again disgusting Sentinel uh although I do love it when the Sentinels mean business fantastic villains however there's also a nod to a lot of the Romantic elements of Morrison's run oh it was again just like the X-Men it was quite the soap opera from cyclops' Psychic Affair but here they did it with Matalin prior instead of Emma Frost I don't like that but it does make it more complex because it's a lot more innocent and understandable and he's like that's the mother of my child you're like well I don't really think there's a comeback to that D darn it Emma Frost does show up this episode hooray she was not only pivotal to Morrison's run but he totally redefined the character and re you know just I love what you know he put Emma he put Emma Frost on the map although Generation X kind of got the ball rolling but he he did a fantastic job so it was a little disappointing to see her back at square one here you're like what she's even hanging on the arm of Sebastian sha who was actually her abuser so you're like what's happening here I mean and she has some good lines I mean I thought her burn on Val's dress was pretty awesome uh and in the comics the this attack on josha actually triggered her secondary mutation which is something that Grant morron came up with by the way which you know you might seem like a cheat but it was actually a lot of fun so uh her secondary mutation was the ability to turn into a living diamond ah it was great she was going to go and get herself appraised I think like a tiffan or something it was great so hopefully they'll do that here too right although this is a this this hit a lot harder emotionally than in the comics when they destroyed josha so um I don't really know if that Emma Frost can be like now I Sparkle and not seem like a total jerk all right so speaking of Scott and Jean a lot of Truth bombs drop between the two of them I honestly don't know if they even do belong together right now I mean when Scott said Do You Love Me or do you just fondly remember me and I'm like well I think it might be the second one uh and she just must kissed Wolverine which is also from the Morrison run by the way total clickbaity or whatever the equivalent is for buying Comics cover they you were like they're finally going to kiss but then just like you did here Wolverine was like ah no you belong with Scott and you're like what are you doing buddy why'd you make me listen to you complain about Jean and pine after her for all this time if you're just going to turn her down I mean talk about wasting everybody's time that's how I felt then and this is how I feel now but I think that Scott and Jean again are breaking up so get in there Wolverine although I was going to say it later but I'll just say it now he's spending a lot of time with morph I'm picking up on it are you uh that's interesting you know uh for all the representation here for the LGBT community uh I'm not seeing an LGBT relationship in a sea of relationships so I I think they they have to do that and so uh I hope that that's coming I hope that's coming up with the rest of the show with the rest of the season well they already have a season two and they're working on season three season three without without B Deo all right so the emotional maturity of the X-Men is mighty impressive but I guess with all the emotions flying around they have to know how to handle them particularly LaMore all right let's talk about it so Trish tilby why is she here because she really did in the comics date beast in fact in one alternate reality they had a daughter who became a a reporter interestingly enough hilarious but then of course the big one this week is the Rogue Magneto Gambit love triangle oh it's been ruined ever since the first episode but it really came to a boil a sad boil today I do feel some of the X-Men could be a little more considerate of other people's feelings I felt particularly bad for Gambit and Wolverine this episode I'm like wow you guys like as Jennifer Anderson said you're missing a sensitivity chip but the X-Men are such a soap opera I guess everyone feels they've always still got a chance and they do as I said I think Wolverine might have an in with Jean if he can if he if he's go if he goes for it um again I wonder I'm like has has morph ever like scratched that itch for him I'm very curious as what's happening with Wolverine and morph uh and Rogue ended up choosing gamit maybe because she already touched Magneto in every way possible on the Dance Floor get a room you two isn't this a state Affair I mean my God all right so I that was a very steamy dance number I was like I practically watched it through my fingers I was like I don't even know if I should be here almost as steamy as the flashback to their romance right I'm pretty sure speaking of being sensitive other people's feelings that Gambit didn't need to hear every single detail of their Affair Rogue she was like oh did I tell you what we did in the bathroom and he's like I don't need to hear it Rogue you already gave me the Highlight Reel uh especially because this this H at certaint you know at this point it happened a while ago it's not like she just confessed it he's like okay okay Rogue I thought it was a great touch that he was throwing his cards in the fireplace as he listened including the Queen of Hearts but I I I thought he took it remarkably well again I guess because he felt he always he will always still have a chance I was like wow what a nice guy he took that almost a little too well but and maybe because he knew deep down that he and Rogue belong together because as sexy as Magneto is and as much as Gambit is afraid of commitment I agreed with Nightcrawler it's like why don't you put a ring on it he's like no she doesn't want me to and I'm like I'm pretty sure she does but uh rogue's heart clearly belongs to the cinjun uh I did think Magneto made her a great genuine offer uh and the pitch that she would be an empathetic leader because she could literally experience others pain was a really good pitch I thought that was excellent but when you saw Rogan Gambit flying or fly SL driving into action together they're a pair it was great although at the end of the episode Rogue was Zero for two with lovers as I said radicalization for maybe more than just Cyclops all right let's go through the big emotional set piece the attack on josha the Slaughter of josha the extinction level event I didn't even catch the Watcher in the sky did you I saw somebody point that out on social media that excellent again I'm I'm I'm so impressed with the attention to detail and this because you know of course the Watchers there it's not only a major historical event in the timeline but cable is messing with the timeline or at least trying to maybe he'll bump into Captain cona who knows and on that note I believe the psychic sniper attacks on both Jean Gray and then mine prior were actually cable trying to warn them you can faintly hear his warning when meline is attacked maybe because she's his actual mother so they have a stronger psychic connection very well done from the sniper attack I was you really felt it you were like holy crap what just happened and then you know because they felt like assassination attempts and then the nose bleeds great touch loved it and when you think about it cable does love his guns so that kind of delivery you know it's a little bit much cable freaks everybody out but it's a perfect fit for his character the episode's ability to convey dread as it consistently upped the atie was also really really impressive many times while I was watching I was like oh man just got so much worse you know like I swore I swore to myself a couple of times like oh you know and you were just like you just felt so bad for the characters you're like this is so bad I don't think you're going to be able to get out of it and they and for the most part did not uh again you can do this when you have time travel at play or the Multiverse but they never really did this with the Multiverse which is why the Multiverse didn't really work out for the MCU although I think Deadpool might go the distance uh also Cable's I'm so sorry Mom as he's pulled back through time and her response being like for what sweetie and then kapow she's blown to smithin I mean that was incredible I think that's why the sequence overall is so effective that while it's very well directed from an action standpoint when they did the blackout and everybody going flying through the air I mean that was great for for animation I really appreciate it it but they really based this on the emotion of everybody reacting to this event and the horror of seeing what happened to themselves and their loved ones that's why it worked so well oh it's beautiful particularly Magneto Rog and Gambit which is why it was so clever to focus so heavily on their romance earlier not just the love triangle but that even though it was a triangle they just loved each other so much you could see that because they were able to forgive forgive each other when things didn't work out Magneto and Gambit both took Rogues re ction at different times like really well cuz they truly just loved her right and her being torn between them so much illustrates the same Rogue has gotten very little screen time up until now despite being a fan favorite but wow did this episode make up for it perfectly capturing her character from her friendships you know her attitude towards life to her more intimate relationships which address that while on the surface she's so happy you know happy gol lucky but she's actually really tormented because of you know her her the Bas of her powers what you know you know not what she took from Captain Marvel that makes her so powerful but you know that she you know that she you know can't touch anybody you know core to the Char you can see how well the character works when she has to deal with that dilemma it was a huge mistake as I've said before to get rid of that in the comics so her more intimate relationships you know showing her surface and both of her her her inner problems but then also just how powerful she is I mean wow when she was flying around that was great stuff but again because she was motivated ated by emotion and Gambit of course he jinxed himself when he said the odds are always in his favor and then Master Mold got him however he was able to use his powers one last time to supercharge the entire machine and blow it Skyhigh with his last words being the title of the episode the name is Gambit Monami remember it and oh we will wow and he was such a Gambit line even down to the Mona me I'm sure Channing Tatum was like let me do it just once but again I'm sure is coming back but not before Cyclops and maybe others like Rogue are radicalized it was great to see josha here definitely spliced with ccoa although that makes me happy because I don't like kcoa as much as josha so let's just get this over with including an event that looked an awful lot like a Hellfire Gala here josha seemed a bit like wakanda to me as well although here you know I think very clearly highlighting the LGBT community uh like with kcoa there is a mutant Council they call it the quiet Council on ccoa which I don't like that either but here with the comics Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw are on the council as is Moira mctaggert although under very different circumstances in the comics what they did to her character was crazy in the comics but I'm glad it hasn't stuck so much because I don't like it very much uh Kalisto is a nice because you know they turned her into a mutant and I much prefer Moira as like the human who is like gets along Kalisto is a nice addition to the council and also if I were Jean I would not be so happy about how quickly mateline prior is rising to power and being being embraced by the rest of mutant them get out of your mental photo album Jean and get back in there cuz you're totally being replaced she a single white female in the heck out of you I mean she's a lot more sympathetic than Emma Frost uh I mean meline in the comics she just went away but she is not going away here yikes uh but how the heck did Banshee get on the council I always love hearing his accent but I guess maybe it was a nod to when he ran Generation X with Emma but a waste of a spot in my opinion we'll talk about the other cameos in a second this episode is a little over 30 minutes though and I am impressed that Deo even found time for yet another nice little speech from Magneto who sure does like to monologue but his monologues are great he talked about Charles's dream to me it was the personal details that really worked and made this come across really well sitting in a bar in Germany and remembering how Charles coily smiled I was like oh I can kind of see it nicely done and I also like the weird focus on someone's drink I was like I think that's an alcoholic beverage this show is nuts Magneto making a whip out of a train was also pretty incredible to witness I was like how have we never seen him do that before that was great finally the cameos the big one obviously is Nightcrawler no mention of Mystique though who of course connects Nightcrawler and Rogue is her adopted mother and his genetic mother and Rogue even brings up her mother here we see her in a flashback in human form so it's making me think because they didn't address it when she saw Nightcrawler that Rogue still doesn't know it was Myst mystique and disguise who raised her along with Destiny some of you have a theory and I think you might be right that based on Val Cooper's interest in Rogues answer to Magneto's offer that Val might be Mystique in Disguise so of course she cares about Rogue because she's her adopted daughter Val is being awfully nice to mutants and in the comics Mystique did impersonate Val so I think you might be right there other notable cameos this episode from across the comics different time periods so I I'm very very impressed recent characters are our fellow teleporter pixie and glob although I would have preferred Quinton choir um uh I like that character kind of I don't he's in the new lineups uh I still don't think he's reached his full potential but I like him multiple man I love Multiple Man Exodus don't like Exodus at all but he's very easy to recognize dazzler with her 9s look which I don't like but you know I guess they're sticking with the 97 theming uh I think that might be boom boom squid boy also recent Donald Pierce I don't know why the hellfire club is getting along with everybody so much and then one of my all-time favorites Maro who's actually very similar to Rogue which I guess is why I like both of them uh they then they just ditched Maro even though she had some great storylines so what did you think of X-Men 97 episode 5 I am loving this show starting with last episode and and now it's fantastic I feel like I have the X-Men back and I can't wait to see where the rest of this season goes and I'm so glad we have a season two and three confirmed can although I do worry what it will be like without Bo Deo can the MCU keep this momentum going uh for its ex-men including bringing as they bring them to live action although I do also trust Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman uh and what do you what again what do you think they should do about B Deo I mean it's hard for us you know to weigh in on it because we don't know why he was fired uh it's tough and but again you know at least Bodo is smart enough not to burn this bridge at least not yet maybe when he feels there's no way it's although he would never be able to work again he should not burn this bridge under any circumstances because the work is so strong you should either just try and get back in or use it to get somewhere else all right so what did you think share your thoughts down below subscribe today and of course as always you can check out some more videos right [Music] now he
