we get that question all the time people say why did you switch what's better there is something for everybody's budget and everybody's need and they're also great for families it was a cassette toilet I had I wanted nothing to do it's disgusting MJ I want that there's no getting around it they are unsafe if you are in a crash you really don't stand a chance there are some fabulous things about many types of RVs and there's also horrible things about many types of RVs and the crazy thing is that there are thousands of different types floor plans models it could be very overwhelming if you're looking to get into RV and this is your first time so in this video we're going to talk about we're going to break it down as simple as possible this is kind of the dummies guide to choosing an RV and The Good The Bad and The Ugly [Music] thank you before we start getting into all the details of different RVs I want to thank the official sponsor of this video is going to be RV snap pads what is RV snap pad well it is a permanent jackpad that you put on your leveling system we're out camping right now and I think there's like one other person that has it which is kind of crazy it is crazy hopefully we can spread the word more because they're amazing we've had these before we even had a channel when we first got in La we ever made the same ones on right now some really great perks to these they're permanent so you're not taking things on and off it's going to give you increased stability for each of your Landing feet it's going to give you added protection for those feet from any type of damage or bending like that it's going to help on softer surfaces if you're on dirt or like grass or look right right this could definitely help for that and it can help protect from indirect lightning strikes so RV snap hat are made in the USA by 100 recycled material they always give special discounts to First Responders as well as military but if you don't fall into one of those categories we do have a discount code endless 10. it will get you 10 off of your purchase we absolutely love ours guys we've had them for over four years same original pair they are very well made they're tough they will last a long time we'll put their link down below go check them out so the first thing and this is the most popular one is the travel trailer it is the most popular every video we talk about industry updates and that is always leading the pack that's what we started with right the great thing about travel trailers is there's one for every budget like right next to us we have an a-liner okay you have that and then we have huge ones elsewhere so you have a wide variety to choose from yeah and there's different ones that you can choose depending on what kind of vehicle you have now you're not going to be able to tow one of these with a Mustang probably not going to happen but depend like the a-liner that's behind this over here they have a Kia a Kia right if you can look so that is just a modest SUV because that's a very light RV now some of the bigger ones you're going to need at least a half ton truck some of them maybe three quarter ton because some of them could be pretty long and pretty heavy but there is something for everybody's budget and everybody's need when you look at the travel trailers right and they're also great for families you'll find a lot of families that are in travel trailers and fifth wheels will get to that too you can get them with again like we said so many different floor plans to fit your needs okay they're not gonna be ugly but let's talk about the bad so we gave you the good now the bad is they can be difficult to tow and we know that because that's how we started our RV life is that we were Towing our Jayco Jay Flight we loved it but it took a lot of time you know again people do it but that's set up one drawback for some people another thing is there is not as much storage as in certain other types yeah regarding the towing you could they have different types of sway bar setups that can kind of minimize it but it's still much easier to drive a motorized than it is the setup and the breakdown of the travel trail we had a travel trailer just pull out from next to us it was an Airstream base camp which is a very small travel trailer but they were what 40 minutes breaking down tomorrow when we break down we're going to bring the levelers up I'm gonna blow the top we're gonna unhook and we're gonna go so it's going to be much easier now one of the big disadvantages or I guess the bad is the construction the travel trailers for the most part they tend to use cheaper Parts tires are cheaper frame is cheaper they can't really really hold as much weight which is reflected in the cost so just keep that in mind so let's talk about the next towel Bowl that's going to be your fifth wheel and if you don't know what a fifth wheel is essentially so the difference between a fifth wheel and a travel trailer regarding Towing is that the travel trailer it's ball mounted right it's on your bumper that's where you hook up the fifth wheel goes in the pin goes inside the bed of your truck so you need a truck to tow a fifth wheel you can't tow it with an SUV now bang for buck it's our opinion that fifth wheel gives you the best bang for buck yes you have an immense amount of storage underneath depending if you get one with the drop frame which most of them will have there unless you're going real entry level I'm talking like you could fit stacks of bodies down there that's how much you can feel you can sleep in there I mean just tons of tons of stuff and then the living space these look like Apartments there you can and you can get all different types of floor plans front kitchen front living front bedroom they're all different types of setups on these things these are great for a lot of full-timers you will see in fifth wheels again because of the storage you can keep so much hashtag stuff in them it makes it much easier especially for families also right and the next thing is it feels to us it feels like a home we love our motor home but we many times in the past had gone back and forth fifth wheel motorhome the ease of travel we love the motor home but that feeling like you're in a home of residence I think the fifth wheel takes it off for that and then another nice thing for fifth wheels you can get from entry level as possible all the way up to like Hollywood Superstore so I'm talking about like sixty thousand dollars up to three 400 500 000 fifth wheels depending on how much you want to spend how much customizing you can get all the bells and whistles on there if you really want to now let's talk about some drawbacks you need a heavy duty truck minimum right I mean they have like the half ton towable but that's really pushing it you're going to need probably three quarter ton and then depending on how heavy maybe even a heavy duty truck right another drawback is the size again which is a plus but then it can be detrimental to getting into places you're definitely going going to be limited to a lot of parks that we've been we've got in our motorhome I know fifth wheels wouldn't have been able to get through their tight corners and things like that where we are now it's actually pretty awesome anybody could get in here but that can be a problem for some yeah think about it you can have a 43 or 44 45 foot fifth wheel plus another 24 feet of truck right it can be very very big monstrous a lot to deal with let's talk what we now are in which is a Class A motorhome tons of parks to a Class A motorhome which is why we decided at least for us to get this so number one everything is right there so you are driving you can use the bathroom I can make food we have you can sit and watch TV everything is in one nice little package the next thing is Boondock and we love to Boondock cleaners here love to Boondock Harvest hosts Cracker Barrels things like that we pull in we level and and that's it there's there's nothing else really we need to do yeah with the classes they can go from you know the entry level all the way up to Prevo customized so you're talking about 130 000 up to three million dollars and everything in between you have gas you have diesel so there's a lot to choose from they go from probably about 27 feet only up to 45 feet some of the nulls the older ones used to be 47 feet so there's a lot on there some of the other advantages is that you have large holding tanks you have heated floors you have that giant windshield you have tons of storage underneath a lot of batteries you have a lot of room for solar there is a lot that you can do you can tow a lot some of them up to 25 000 pounds another really big perk which is actually why we decided to get a motor home is the ability to drive long distances and also just personally I didn't feel comfortable pulling a trailer or a towable I have no problem driving the motor home at all no matter how long it is so we're able to drive very long distances we just kind of tag team right we you know we take turns and it just makes the trip move a little quicker yeah you will find a lot of the OG rvers have been doing a long time especially as they get older they tend to go to the motorized a lot of them like the class A's because it's really comfortable vacation starts when you get in the driver's seat and you can go like that long distance like MJ said so let's get into the bad and this is a reason why sometimes we bounce around between Class A and Super C for our next one number one is there's no getting around it they are unsafe if you are in a crash in a class A you really don't stand a chance if it's a bad news I will asterisk that if unless you're in like a boss converter right absolutely but your typical Class A like we have so basically this is you have your your chassis below this is just fiberglass and fiberglass is not made to take crashes and then you have a windshield now the only saving grace is that you're a little bit higher up but it's it's not like being in a truck right so when we talk about Super C we're not going to talk about super seas in this video class C's but that's Super C front is is so much safer than this and I think about that all the time so that can be a little concerning the next disadvantage is is when you get into the motorized especially the class say even more so class a diesel is that they are expensive to fix and there's a lot more to maintain because you not only have the house you have the engine you have the generator there's a lot more systems that go on something like this versus a trailer or a fifth wheel so yeah they can get very pricey right and the last thing they they can be tight on space so depending on the floor plan you have or even the storage sometimes we always wish we had a little bit more space that's why we're like oh it'd be nice to have a fifth wheel compared to a fifth wheel there's no comparison not even close moving on down to Class B's now we did a weekend trip we borrowed a Class B from a van company in New Jersey we had a really good time well I had a really good time it was too tight for Izzy I enjoyed it because I wanted to be close a couple things they're easy to get around it we took that thing into town and parked in a regular parking spot it was great it's just a van yeah I mean they're stealthy they just they blend into everything we take Nelly somewhere we're standing at people yeah people are looking right some other things they're better they're more fuel efficient they are made better and why I say that is because it's just a van shell right so it's manufactured by like robotics for depending if it's a Mercedes or a Ford or a ram whatever so it's going to stand up the test of time now and the inside is where the companies will do the work but overall structurally they're Better Built so here are some of the bad things now Izzy's just not a Class B well I shouldn't say that because you like some of like the grad Leisure Travel man certainly one slide but then it's not really big right but they're small right when we did our weekend is he's like I can't I think you're getting a little claustrophobic so where we're at right now like we're up in Salem if it was just the two of us would it be it would have been perfect here because we've been out all day there's really no need to have the a up here right it'll be much easier to get up here and just basically to sleep like a Class B is for the adventure you park it and then you're not in it unless you're sleeping the next disadvantage is they're pretty damn expensive like even entry level you're well over a hundred thousand dollars and that has a lot to do with the labor that goes into it so imagine you have a van that kind of has to be gutted out and then redone on the inside so it is more labor intensive so hence the price your tanks are if they even have any they're they're minimal right so that van that we had it was a cassette toilet I had I wanted nothing to do it toilet is a cassette toilet is you pee and poop into this toilet and then you pull it out like a pot and like you it's disgusting MJ empty I want that yeah because I say if you're going to use it you're going to empty it I'm not doing that only number one I don't know if I could handle empty numbers here anyway the last drawback for us I think for a class B is the storage there's very little storage and people that have Class B's God bless you guys you get very creative with storage ideas I think it's amazing because you are very limited there finally let's get into the class C's and we're going to break those down into the class C and then the Super C kind of the same concept but a little bit different so the class C's are going to be built on a or usually Ford E350 E450 chassis they do have some Chevy ones out there and then the super C's are going to be traditionally on a heavy duty Class 7 or Class 8 commercial truck chassis many of them are on as you know the S2 RV chassis which is you know like it's only for RVs really right right it's that Super C chassis made just for super season so Class C these are they're easy to maneuver very easy a lot of people that are scared to drive a Class A you'll see them go into a Class C so you still get that motor home but they're a little easier to get around now The Classy will be classic giveaway because it's going to have that cab right over the front so that's kind of how you know like that traditional Winnebago right like that's the classic which is a perk then because many of them have that extra sleeping space above so if you have kids or if you have the grandkids come over you get that extra space I like to say that the classy kind of gives you a little bit of everything in one package so you can get from like what 25 feet 24 feet up to 33 32 feet one slide two slide no slides you can get in your different choices another perk to class C's is in many cases they are less expensive than A's and B's so these are quite pricey and people say why are they so pricey but the class C's are in a nice uh you know comfortable area in terms of price in the motorhome yeah Arena one of the big disadvantages of The Classy that you'll hear all the time is the carrying capacity yeah they tend to not have a lot of carrying capacity unless you get into the Super C and I know MJ said a little bit before we're not going to talk about it I'm just going to touch very quickly on the Super C tradition on commercial truck chassis class seven or eight they can range anywhere from 37 feet up to 45 feet so you'll have that big commercial truck chassis the reason people get the super seeds because they want to tow heavy right twenty thousand pounds thirty thousand pounds 40 000 pounds you have that ability plus you get a lot of the amenities that you get in a class A heated floors large compartments you do have disadvantages big huge tanks couple disadvantages you don't have as much room as in a class A but you have the safety right now as far as these these aren't cheap these can get quite expensive right there with the class A's although they tend to be less expensive than the higher end classes but you're not getting into them you know for a hundred thousand dollars these are quite expensive so one more negative we mentioned a couple for the class C's is the front cap it can be prone to leaking so you got to be careful the last thing you want is water intrusion so quickly here's just a The Cliff No version to recap the different types of RVs out there you have your travel trailers most popular there's going to be your trailers that are bumper pulled classically you have the ball on your bumper that's where you're going to pull it then you move on to your fifth wheels those are going to be trailers much larger for the most part and you'll have the pin that goes into the bed of your truck then you're going to have your motorized you're going to have your A's B's and C's again your A's are going to be a bus style yes you're you're larger in most cases more expensive and you have your bees small can be expensive fan yep van types and then your C's which is kind of a mix of the two put together a little bit more affordable than they do you see you'll have that cab right over the front and then you have your Super C which you'll clearly see because it looks like a semi truck and it will be quite large and intimidating so in the comments below let us know hopefully this helped you out if you're new and you're trying to make a decision also what type of RV do you own and if you're on your second third fourth fifth or sixth RV what did you start with what do you have now put in the comments below and why did you switch we talked about why we went from a trailer to A Class A let us know why you switched yeah because a lot of rvers especially maybe new RVs they might be watching this video and they want to know what people think other rvers and it really helps them out we get that question all the time people say what why did you switch what's better and then to the left of us if you like videos like this or put our RV newbies playlist we put our RB tours playlist you can kind of get a look at all different types of them and for myself an MJ it's a journey of a lifetime and we'll see you on the road thank you
