Winching trees up a steep incline with a PCW5000!

[Music] [Music] hi my name is preston i really like watching transfer shows too [Music] look at my dad [Music] [Music] so [Music] we take this one like this you mean exactly but to the trees not too long can you pass through the rope hook the rope on and you do that and then finish well now we get the cone on get the cone on there tighten that up [Music] this is the witch hopefully that's level enough [Music] probably what it is it's way out of level so we got an oil sensor in it hi my name is weston and my dad's just putting that on with one of our wedges so it's a little bit flatter because there's an oil sensor in there yeah pull that strap not super tight just hold it i don't know i'll find out [Music] [Applause] maybe not it's too bad that isn't adjustable that way that's what i was thinking about daddy oh that looks better i don't know if that's going to work give it a try good ready [Music] oh we need a better system [Music] is [Music] so [Music] [Music] we gotta redirect this log we're gonna set up a snatch block here to pull from a different angle because it doesn't it doesn't have a good line to where the winch is set up and rather than move the winch yeah try this see if it works [Music] [Applause] [Music] so this log here it's giving me a lot of grief it's uh pretty thick pretty heavy i guess but i think the uh pulling up this steep angle is it's a lot more than it wants to pull so i put a snatch block on which double my pull but it's gonna make it go uh half the speed so it's gonna go a bit slower but hopefully it'll uh drag it up the hill no issue let's give it a try so i've got one end of the rope tied around the tree right by the winch and i've got the other one i'm going to hook onto the winch and pull with so when it pulls this rope it actually it pulls against this and it comes up twice as slow but there's twice as much strength give it a shot not sure what happened there didn't work though [Music] [Music] so [Music] so pretty successful day we winched up all the logs but uh one thing i learned is this winch mount for the tree it's only good if your tree is perfectly plum which in our backyard is uh pretty hard to find so i had a lot of trouble getting the winch to sit level and since it has a safety switch on the oil if the winch is too far out of level it will not operate so it kept turning off on me because i couldn't get it to stay level as you can see i wedged it up with some bark which didn't really work it did the job but i think i'm going to manufacture something that i can use to adjust the mount uh to perfectly level just spent a lot of time fighting this thing when i should have just been winching logs so here's today's haul we got everything winched up to this spot on the hill it's an awful lot of work hoping i can get faster and more efficient at this because this is probably only about a quarter of the way up to the house basically the whole reason i bought this is because we have all these dead trees down here the whole grove of them not sure why they're dying but they're all standing dead and they're not rotten so hopefully i can get faster and more efficient at winching these logs and i can take advantage of the dead firewood down there
