i'm so excited to share about william wilberforce and coming as i do from his hometown of hull has made the privilege of working on his manuscripts all the more wonderful as an evangelical wilberforce recorded the intimate details of his spiritual walk in journals never published till now and because he never intended for anyone else to read them they are the honest record and self-assessment of his heart and walk with god his entries then are encouraging challenging and very convicting and i've spent over 10 years transcribing and annotating them because while the secular world has sought to marginalize his evangelical faith it was actually the driving force in all that he did now you're not going to discover a superhero in his journals but you will read of a humble man of god sacrificing his life and health to be everything that god had called him to be and to do you'll read how in christ he coped with debilitating pain and weaknesses with death threats and being physically attacked on the street with losing some of his young children and all the while having a real concern and conviction that he failed god so often you'll read how he loved and memorized scripture how prayer was central to his spiritual life and how he did all he could to bring family and friends to christ and how he loved the church and christian fellowship how he also gathered around him an incredible group of friends and encouragers prayer warriors and counselors if anyone was for the church and for the kingdom it was william wilberforce [Music] you
