Will it start? Abandoned International 4166. A new project!

what are you doing you want a new tractor to play in [Music] hey everybody Welcome to Today's Show hell I got something kind of awesome lined up here for today um family member of mine made me a heck of a deal on a dang cool tractor that well kind of hard to pass up it definitely needs a lot of attention but you know I know a guy that does that stuff paint's pretty well had it's got one steering cylinder that's no good got a big flat tire but I think today the important thing is going to be let's see if we can get this thing started and let's see if it'll actually move under its home power Hey look I apologize if you wanted to see that don't worry there will be a lot more in a long time not that diesel really goes bad but five gallons of good can't hurt especially when there's only four five two I don't know not very much in it hopefully the wind doesn't mess with my video too much and if it does that's what I can do about that I'm gonna try to be a little proactive here and snag a couple of batteries I was over there this morning and that of course that tractor is dead as the door now it hasn't moved in a while and I wouldn't expect anything less so I'm gonna grab a couple of batteries and throw them in the truck we've got fuel I'll grab a few tools and we should be good to go I think uh since I got the green bastard right there he's gonna loan me his green battery in let's get on the road there's two batteries got me a few tools can a snorting start I could find a pair of jumper cables that would be ideal huh search continues they turned up perfect let's hit it there guys what do you think of this I didn't run the serial numbers but it's a 4166 they built them from 72 to 76 I believe this here's the international version that they made of their own as far as four-wheel drive tractors go there's the international guys know like the 4366 and the 45 68 or whatever those are all stagger built Internationals and this is their own now kind of cool she's a crab steer unit solid or rigid frame I guess you would call that see how many bees we got inside of here hopefully none there's a couple nests there but I don't think they're going to hurt my feelings any let's get up in here and have a look so good three-point controls oh yeah there's a shifter so now these are cool because you've got two wheel steer four wheel steer neutral low high first second third fourth I guess I don't know a whole bunch bunch about this tractor except that oh Jesus except that the headliners hanging down and yeah touch it accidentally feels like there's bugs crawling on you we'll just leave that be see where's the hours it's 36.54 guys this tractor is practically brand new let's see how it works okay well oh that is okay now I'm looking at here that is two wheel and four wheel steer that must be two and four wheeled drive because it does say drive there all right well what do you IH guys that knows more about these than I do feel free to to uh chime in on that all right let's check some other stuff out oh gosh this sure is a cool old thing now the reason we're not driving at home today guys that's simple I don't think she'll make the trip I mean maybe it will I don't know but I guess we'll burn that bridge when we get there she's a three point with PTO dual Outlets even though one of them's hanging on the ground [Music] that's we're gonna have to cross that bridge right there I don't know how old that battery is but um see there's a sticker it says rotate by what three of oh eight that's 2008 wasn't exactly yesterday guys that's for sure okay what do we got here Sun shaded I think they call this a dt436 pretty tough old motor got a cute little turbo under there it is what I read 175 horsepower that's plenty of horsepower for a tractor this size see what she's got me oil in it before we get crazy doing stuff yes lots of oil belts are there everything's I mean looks complete like I said he's he uh he was kind of a smaller Farmer at the time and I think he didn't use this tractor really all that much to begin with and best I can tell you it's been sitting here for I guess I don't know the answer to that it's been sitting here for quite a little while he had been mowing the grass around it but I don't think that's happened in a while either everything's nice and dead underneath tires there I don't know they're not in the ground that far but again you got almost three feet of there's a lot of surface area there guys to to sink into the ground so hell I don't know what do you say we get some batteries in this thing or at least a battery in it see if we can get her to kick off oh all right well let's ditch that one gripe let's see if I can find a date code on this battery let's see it's kicked off on a seven and a six yeah that probably doesn't count for anything no other codes say just this sticker here guys and I know this is a common thing on battery stickers so what's that say there rotate by March of o6 I mean I know this character hasn't been sitting since o six but I mean this battery could very well be from 2006. so that's going to leave that set there for now we'll put this one in for now guys I'd like to put two batteries in this but she's only got enough cables for one so I guess I got this I'll put this in here oh that's not gonna work foreign let me you know I kind of screwed up here guys I does have a red and a black cable but I didn't exactly pay attention as to where they came off Let Me Trace these cables and make sure they're going to where I need them to be because there's a red cable on the starter that has black showing through it this black cable has red showing through it this other cable is just solid red so why would I expect anything just to you know work out doesn't make sense I had a feeling yeah he did something yep you know it's these kind of things guys that make you have to question stuff like I said that cable is very red it grounds out right under there this one is very black with some red on it I mean interesting all right guys I think the next thing I'm gonna do is get some fuel in this tank can't promise this is going to go well but all we can do is try there's definitely fuel in the tank I might just bypass this step real quick because well to be honest I didn't think this one through yeah that happens it happens I kind of forgot to bring my funnel and of course today is one of those days where the wind is blowing so well [Music] if you were going to take a piss you'd better watch which direction you're doing it because you might get a little more of a shower than you hoped for let's just get that we'll get that right back on there it's got fuel in the tank I'm gonna run with that for now I'll shoot what else do we got to do here maybe see if there's antifreeze in it saying just for grins if this thing were to take off on a wild Runaway of course I'd hate for that to happen where's my fuel in and out yep okay well that's fine that moves I don't see an actual fuel shut off on this thing there's no wire going to it for and again maybe one of uih guys can chime in on this maybe these don't have a fuel shut off you just throttle it down and shut it off I don't know the answer to that oh well hopefully we don't have to do any emergency kills on this thing so see what the radiator looks like well I don't see anything in there [Music] so radiator looks kinda dry but you can only see this far down before you hit the course so I don't know let's there we go let's see what happens let's give it a look at that get on my nerves to go find a nail or so it doesn't matter let's see if it does nope really hit the battery okay for the heck of it swapped out my battery I don't think that's going to do any good but what the hell let's give it a shot all right let's give it another let's give it another shot here fellas what do you say there found me a little nail hold that headliner up in place let's see here nothing she is dead dead let's try something else try that all right let's give it another shot here nothing I think it's better as a door nail and it wasn't a few minutes ago that's an interesting problem well I don't think this is going to fix it but let's try this I got no power in the cab I had power in the cab but now I have no power in the cab so something has caused me to lose power either blew a fuse or who knows what all right everyone forgive the crudeness of this this is just kind of you know it helps me out sometimes to not have to hold things and hold all things and you know how it goes so let's okay I got 12 volts come on okay so on a body ground I got 12 volts there too so that's good I'm gonna fish my way up into that starter and see if I got power at the starter boy there ain't a good way to do this guys see if I can sneak myself in here okay sure enough if I ain't got power at the starter that'll solve most of my questions huh how am I gonna of course that's got a big dumbass cap on it okay there get to it through the side okay I got 12 volts to the starter so that's good means let's go Lord I haven't eaten lunch yet let's jump up in the cab here okay I got the two wires on the switch pulled see if there's any power going to this point okay so somehow I only have two volts at the switch that's uh that's not going to cut it let me see which one of these let me pull this wire okay guys we're gonna I got a little help here we're gonna try and jump the solenoid and see if we can get her to fire up that way see what happens all right Jeffrey hitter see what she says oh man jeez all right bye Kelly we're rolling [Music] now this thing around today I'm good [Music] I took right off I mean right now oh well let's we'll just set it up here for a minute [Music] there's bad in the back of this we actually got a brown bad hose here don't you remember you got this cylinder right here yep that switch up that it goes yes that box is cylinderella yep yep put a four-wheel drive turn it should be able to find out whether it is if you see oil squirting out right yeah right away all right she's sure it's a cool little tractor I hates it tell you what I can't I can't not take it home and work on it one day when I was when I was getting cows when I hit chop yep chopped in the mud so it's the way to go PTR 12-star PM PTO yep looking on that big copper right there looks like that chocolate I haven't built the power 20 years that's true yep but then when I had to fill that bunker yeah this should do it that did the job I'm gonna let this run here for a few minutes Jeffrey I think we'll like I say I'll uh I probably won't bring it home today I'll rail some other time I'll I'll get fired up and whatnot yep how's this is this tire still holding a little bit of air or is it flat as flat here right because it's got that big tear in it right there but I think I got a big boot oh yep okay okay cause I know it was flat and there's some bricks underneath it to hold it off a couple trips at the air tank solve that problem though okay yeah yep that sounds good well you sounding good yeah let's see I think it's in two wheel steer let's see if it turns good on the front yep yep yep it'll turn all right what a cool little tractor there yep that is a clean running tractor 's like a kitten [Applause] [Music] I get some paint on this Jeffrey she'll look like a collector's items open as well that's true but it sure makes me feel better about myself that's just not just what I do though you know I like painting old tractors [Applause] red people yep exactly exactly yeah that's kind of cool that this has got the three-point and the PTO that ain't something that you see a lot on on especially on a bigger tractor like that all right guys well shoot that thing runs way too good I didn't oh that's a AC compressor I thought it never mind that all right well so in order to make the key work I know what I got to do figure out that little junction box get 12 volts to it and everything will be fine but yeah guys this little tractor sure is cool um like I say we gotta find a that back tire might hold enough air to get it to my house but we'll see so I think on that note today guys I've done all I need to do I know that I can start it up and run it now um yeah she runs damn good no complaints there I just got to figure out how to get the rear wheels straighter than they are now because here let's go there I gotta get the rear wheels straighter than they are now see if the one tire will hold air and uh drive it home but for now that's going
