Will It Run?!? FORGOTTEN 1970’s Homemade SandRail

oh man we were so close do I push start it all right so today we are going to Matt's off-road recovery um and we are going to go pick up another project I guess I just can't keep my hands off of them but this one is Corvair powered it's not a COR a but it's cor a powered and it's going to be a lot of fun but we got to get it running first in one of his recent videos he went and picked this up from a a good buddy of ours named Doug and some of you that are paying attention know Doug [Laughter] is I use this yeah it's probably hey what's going on not much what do you got going on today are you here to do Sandrail stuff oh you know it all right well at perfect timing cuz Matt's not here yet good good I guess this surpris is up we're here to pick up a sand rail get it running and uh maybe do a couple hot laps around the yard and then we'll take it back up to the shop and give it like complete makeover there it is not that one that one this just has to hold the air for 5 minutes a little buried we have to come saver what do you think Zach I don't know it's wonderful it's just going to me this one is homemade by a friend of mine way back in the day and this one was his buddies that they were building at the same time crank well crank [Music] it there there's nothing you should push with your back not your legs push push Rudy come help no no I I like I like where where it looks problem she hasn't been driven for a [Music] minute Samurai okay fine how are you going to get that out you still have to my God anything well it wouldn't have been two point except for you made it what am I going to put to do that little bar thing is that safe enough safe enough oh that's fine all right okay ready yeah [Music] put it in for low she's in for low well learn to [Music] clutch oh come on how we doing good yeah it's going [Music] great [Music] this looks a lot better pulled out it does looks quick it looks faster than the green one Ry what engine is in this thing it's a 140 a 140 this is the big one so it's like the late model engine yep red got Bluetooth air intake yeah I don't exactly know what's going on there we're going to have to figure something out though so do you want to pull these carbs just we'll just pull the tops off of them and then also the shifter is kind of funky so I think the first thing we're going to do to getting this thing running is actually work on things that get it running so we're not going to do tires yet or anything like that we're going to pull the tops of the carburetors off and just take a look it's been I have no idea when the last last time this thing ran was but it's been a while I know that yeah we'll just clean it out make sure everything's good replace the parts that I know will need to be replaced as of right now the gas pedal does not work so we'll have to address that when it comes time yours next mine next we've worked on yours before and it has problems all right we're pulling the tops of all four of these carburetors that's right count them there's four and that's Factory no the throttle linkage isn't but the four carburetors is then work on getting the throttle linkage actually working maybe we'll address the brakes we probably won't though and then it should just fire up I'm hoping it just fires up it's not going to but I'm hoping so Rudy's messing around with carburetors I'm messing around with tires and this thing weighs a lot and is massive that is freaking awesome holy crap dud they are so heavy the only thing worse than this tar is if it was dried out oh my gosh it's maple syrup oh yeah that's nasty yeah but I've definitely seen work believe or not we're just going to do the two bat carburetors at um right now and then as soon as we get those cleaned up a little bit we'll work on the front that is fuel in the bottom that's not flowing [Music] ready to put these back together and yep okay perfect my dad finally got here I think I was supposed to meet him here at around 10: a.m. and uh I don't know what time it is now but but I'm here that's the important he is here and uh he's he's here working on the Bombi he's getting ready to put the motor in it and so I had to move out of the way just a little bit but we're just about ready to start this Zach here needs to hurry up and finish this last carburetor and then this thing will be ready to fire up we might want to drain the gas though and go get some new stuff but after that it's going to it's going to purr like a kit so I'm contemplating whether or not I should dump the gas out or just add good gas to it let's get a professional opinion hey Dad yo should we dump this old gas out put like half a gallon in of good gas how bad is the gas um it's uh it's it i' run I've run things on gas like this get some of that get some of that marble and put it in there and then dump a little Marvel down each one of these carburetors hey let me go grab your Marvel okay crank it you do have spark um have you primed these with gas at all just the you want marles we're going to pour gas all over the engine where's the fire extinguisher ready safety first okay okay get it started [Music] again no gas drink again it get fuel [Music] we'll figure it out that sounds like it's broken starter nose to me run it one more time oh man we were so close do I push start it okay key on slaming a Gear wouldn't take second yeah now will it okay here first again try keep the clutch pushed in when you do it that way I want see if we can get the clutch disc to break loose look it's running first first that clutch is frozen do it when we hit the concrete back up we can get go fast Ready set go in case you didn't catch that um pushed it all the way from the shop to here basically to try to get the uh clutch free and the starter is now bad so well the starter's bad so I tried to push start it then the clutch was seized together go nothing what the crap dude sorry dud that thing [Music] is [Music] [Music] W hey oh I don't know when the with the front tires pick up when I grab second though it's frightening it look like it's all a ghost woo I did because when it took off it took off I'm tell people get out of the way I'm coming through that's great yeah could you hear me you ri right past there we that's when it finally took off dude even when you were pulling like 30 40 yards ahead of us it was like it was hurt your ears loud the shifter is way too close why am I grabbing reverse when I should be in first I don't know did you see the front tires going like that yeah your rear tires are doing the same thing this thing need shot no no it does not oh look your tire is low oh I know when i' pull the wheelie and it came back down it's like we got it running that was my goal today is to get it running here at this shop and then we'll take it up to my shop to finish finish some things with it so yeah we'll just get it loaded up on my tra here and we'll get it up to my shop oh [Music] wow you're good right there after following me in the Jeep what what's your impressions of it thing's going to be fast it's going to be fun and it's going to be dangerous I think you should fix some stuff like that
