we have a 1946 Studebaker truck and well she's been sitting for around 50 years or so you can see she got in a fight with a forklift a few years ago and well the forklift won she's kind of got a mangled up Fender and a mangled up Hood up underneath the hook Hood if it'll open negotiating but we got the hood open and as you can see we have the partial ratness package down in here and we have the dirt dauber performance air cleaner add-on package in the carburetor hopefully that kept water out of it someone undid the fuel line years ago probably there's gonna take the carburetor off of it I'm pretty sure she's locked up but the radiator is pushed into the engine and you can see where it hit it and tore the uh fins in the radiator well what holds the water when that forklift hit it the interior we have the rat Nest Deluxe with large sticks and extra Leaf add-on and the transmission is stuck in gear the driver's side door will not open and I'm assuming the last time they moved it the engine was locked up because the drive shaft was dropped out of it so it would roll on the back and all the mileage was she's got 33 000 55 miles that may or may not it looks to be original because that odometer don't look like it's rolled over but you never know go ahead and pull the radiator out of the way probably hook onto it with a chain and pull that so we can get access to the motor and pull that head off because I'm sure we got stuck valves and stuck here some of the dent pulled out of here well the whole front end smashed and you can see it still a little bit crooked we're gonna go ahead and pull just a little bit more and we should be able to get that radiator a little bit better out of the way so we unbolt it and get it out I think that right there did it that ought to be good I think I think we got a whoop don't look near as bad now since that's pulled out this Fender needs some work but now we can get to well she popped back just took a little bump and oh now she's done it again ain't that something that thing popped back in a foot at least eight inches or so we've been fighting with this radiator for a good 20 30 40 45 minutes I don't know it don't it didn't want to come undone and it still don't want to come out of here [Music] I don't think it's attached to the radiator hose at this point oh there we go I think that was our problem access to that engine we're gonna get the top of it cleaned off and pull that head off first thing but on the inside of the truck we prod this door open with a crowbar and you can see there's a snake skin there there's a smaller one there so there's been a few snakes in this old truck over the years they also have a bunch of really good dirt and rat crab and everything else we gotta get all this out of here so we can press that clutch in to see how stuck that motor is it may just be the transmission lock what dirt cleaned off the engine so we're going to take the old impact and uh hopefully get these bolts loose pretty easy so far so good I'm gonna throw you guys over there on the tripod and we're gonna get this thing tore apart hopefully she don't look too bad in there I was hoping we could leave that on there to grab it there there well I gotta say it looks pretty good in there I mean there's a little bit of rust here and there nothing in the cylinder boards it don't look like why is she stuck now I do see a few valves these will be stuck somebody's had this head off before you can see some scratches in the Piston here and there or Lord I could have done that a minute no because this lower one has some scratches in it but all in all it's clean clean man we're just gonna Soaker with some PB Blaster and get her let her soak for a while and it shouldn't take much and you can see we got the big cans back uh Walmart carries them right now at least they had two in stock so you want to make sure to use a healthy amount of PB Blaster it works pretty good we've let her set overnight we have a battery hooked up and a ground so we should be able to see she'll turn over I think we're turning the drive shaft too [Music] [Applause] oh there we go she ain't locked up no more cause I hear it rolling there we go so she's no longer locked up we just got the problem that we have no clutch left in this thing the clutch doesn't work so that's why more than likely while she's lost [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] there we go you gotta remember that you can't you tap the tops of the valve sometimes they just break there we go maybe we're gonna be lucky enough to hey all right foreign 60 pounds so that's good enough I cleaned all the spark plug threads out one of the plugs kind of broke off in there so we had to fix that so you always once you take the head off you make sure you take them spark plugs out because if not you'll be pulling the head again you on this old must be uh oil was about 86 percent water maybe uh four percent oil and the other 10 percent was old gasoline so luckily she wasn't locked up on the crankshaft luckily we got a catch pan down there this was about half full anyway but we're gonna go get another two quarts because well this had about three quarts left in it or so I'm gonna crank her over and she should fire [Music] just like that that's the second try if the throttle wouldn't have been all wonky I think she would have started right on the first try we're gonna put some fuel in this carburetor probably easier said than done where is the throttle line on this thing that's where the gas would go in but it's way over here and oh it's supposed to go there someone's just Twisted it this ain't the right carburetor I don't think we got some gas in it how much I don't know a little bit of that we'll keep it running this time foreign maybe we will here's a trick you can do you just got to be careful for it not to suck it down in there take your rag a little bit of gas on it and she should stay running until we get back around here foreign [Applause] there we go I think the clutch came loose on that yo wasn't giving her enough fuel [Music] that sounds awful [Music] come on [Music] there we go real good oh crap uh we're spewing oil back here out of this line it cracked I forgot about that the oil pump works at least she runs pretty good we're gonna fix that line real quick so we don't run or dry on oil and lock her up because there's already a puddle hold it up with water and ran it through there to cool it down she's been setting for about 35-40 minutes now we're gonna fire it back up and we blocked that oil line off the right way this time I think give it some fuel and she should buy right off gets a runner out of gas now the clutch is starting to come back to life that might have been what killed it the clutch probably kicked out finally just ain't making that awful noise foreign she's starting to get a little warm again you can see it sizzling on the exhaust manifold yo girl up and running after 50 years and I gotta say she runs way too good for setting that long no faster than you let off that starter button most the time she just fires right up we shut her down because she started getting warm again you can see the steam coming off the exhaust manifold we got plenty of water in there temperature ain't too high but she runs good she's not gonna drive because well we had to take the drive shaft out the transmission stuck in uh gear and the bolts are seized in there I didn't want to break them off they're soaking so maybe a couple weeks they'll be loose enough to get off there without breaking it but thank you guys for watching and next week we got a car that's been sitting for 52 years it's a pretty neat v8 car and on the Cuda the blue one on the blue Cuda and we are waiting for a rotisserie to get the rest of it painted underneath and there's a few things we have to do on the underside of the car like I said in the last video for we did on the Cuda we're gonna have it on the wheels and painted by the next time you see it well by the end of the next video that's what we're working on now the Bodywork and stuff but thank you guys for watching please consider leaving a like and maybe subscribing because we got a lot more cool content will it runs and the diamond tea you guys will be seeing another part on it here pretty soon we just got the bushings in that we've been waiting on for two months see you in the next video
