for the past month I have been absolutely obsessed with a little show I'm sure you can guess because it's the title of this video Twin Peaks I would describe myself as much more of a movie person than a TV person it takes a lot for me to get into a show basically if it doesn't hook me straight away I'll quickly give up on it I just love the faster pace of films and how I can sit down in one sitting witnessing a complete narrative well unless you're watching Satan Tango I first heard of Twin Peaks through Les boxed seeing it was one of the top rated things on the whole website I had heard of David Lynch before watching it but i' had never seen any of his work before with Twin Peaks being the first Twin Peaks had me hooked like no other show I had ever seen before and this is my plea to you watching this video if you have never seen this show before watch it now and I promise if you are anyone other than a middle-aged mom you will love this show like I did this video won't have any massive spoilers but if you prefer going into a show completely blind they not even knowing who the main character is or any of the themes then stop watching and watch Twin Peaks so for those still here this is why Twin Peaks might just be the best thing I've ever seen Twin Peaks begins with the main mystery of the show who killed Laura Palmer I'm sure most people have heard that name before especially if you were alive during that time back then TV shows were mainly sitcoms shows with no major overarching narrative just episodic Adventures the idea of continuing a story past the first episode without having some kind of resolution was unheard of but when twin Pete first aired week in and week out people tuned in to find out more clues about who killed high school student Laura Palmer the first episode was watched live by a massive 34.6 million people that's about twice the population of New York could you even imagine that many households sitting down to watch a show and I'm pretty sure we'll never see anything like that again with streaming services existing the first episode ran for a whole 90 minutes and was universally loved introducing a quirky cast of characters leaving the viewer to speculate on who the killer was not a single episode of season 1 had less than 15 million viewers and everyone was ready for a massive reveal at the end of the season um and that didn't happen is having a mystery go on for more than one episode was never seen before than having a mystery go on for more than one whole season was insane and the Mystery continued well into season 2 before finally being revealed I'm not going to say anything about this or even what episode the Killer's revealed I'd just like to say that the scene where the Killer is revealed it's on par with oie mandus for me it's that good revealing the killer wasn't a choice David Lynch made however he actually never wanted to reveal the killer imagine the outrage if that happened but he was instead forced by stupid stupid TV Executives to reveal the killer before the end of the season like quite a bit before the end of the season how stupid can you be surely anyone can work out that if you get rid of the main mystery in a show your ratings are going to go down after the spike and it did with season 2 reaching as low as 7 million viewers well I say that as if it's low that is still a huge number just not quite 34.6 million Lynch actually left the show after revealing the killer only returning for the season final before I talk about that however I just like to say why to me this show is so good the characters in Twin Peaks are like nothing you've ever seen they all have incredibly interesting stories which all somehow connect back to the main plot in some way or another the cinematography is gorgeous especially in season 3 the return where Lynch goes all out with crazy visuals completely unlike anything you've ever seen before and the main reason I love this show this man FBI special agent Dale Cooper played by Kyle mclan mclan MCL I don't know Kyle mcland he might just be my favorite character from anything ever Cooper is the heart of the show he's hilarious to watch with amazing dialogue such as dine coffee this must be where pies go when they die and who can forget I think I saw a giant last night wait what oh yeah how could I forget Twin Peaks is created by David Avid Lynch who specializes in utter strangeness Twin Peak season 1 and two quite clearly has Supernatural elements to it from the GetGo it's presented as a paranormal town full of strange residents like the log lady a woman who carries a log around with her who can apparently see things and talk to her there are many things that happen throughout the show which can't rarely be explained especially in the incredible 2017 season 3 if you aren't at least slightly used to watching something that requires a lot of thinking or even things that cannot be explained you might have trouble with the return but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't at least watch the show until the Laura Palmer story is over and I'm sure that if you've heard of this show before you have seen the Red Room oh and speaking of the Red Room the final of season 2 I finished season 1 in 2 days and season 2 only a few days after that I was so intrigued with its Mysteries and characters and even when season 2 started to get a bit boring I still sat through it all awaiting that last episode of the Season which I heard was absolutely amazing and well after a show of some weirdness but still with an easily comprehensible narrative we have this episode directed by David Lynch the first time I watched this I finished the episode with my mouth wide open not because it was incredible but because I was thinking what the just happened it felt like out of nowhere we were thrown into a world completely like what we had previously seen but after a while it dawned on me that this episode here this is what makes Twin Peak so unique especially for the time and it's here where we get to see what is going on behind the scenes with the town Supernatural forces and it is a mesmerizing and terrifying place and this is where the show changes forever it is no longer a basic murder mystery with some sooer elements like seriously I think every character cheats on their partner at least once in this show and it's here where the weirdness begins and this is where for me Twin Peaks turns from a great show to one of the best things I've ever seen in my life after this episode we have the prequel movie firew walk with me an absolutely heartbreaking horror film on the last week of Laura Palmer's life I just have to mention how incredible Cher Le's acting is it is insane to me how she isn't more recognized oh yeah and this may be a prequel film but do not watch this before season 1 and two the killer will get spoiled for you in the first 30 minutes it's such an incredible film and acts as a perfect introduction to the heavily surreal season 3 it's just really weird to me how back when fir Walk With Me released everyone seemed to hate it you look at reviews when it came out and everyone despised it I guess it was just too weird for them I really don't have an explanation [Music] hello I'm just going to come out and say that Twin Peak season 3 the return is the best thing I have ever seen and I will be extremely shocked if anything will ever beat how this miniseries made me feel 25 years had passed since the movie and now we have new episodes all directed by David Lynch and written by Lynch and Mark Frost who was also a main part in creating season 1 and two no interference from anyone else this was their project and their magnumopus the return is not for everyone like the first two seasons are you will be confused you will go episode at a time wondering what the hell is happening and you may even get frustrated with the amount of unanswered questions that you have to painstakingly pieced together but holy hell is it not a masterpiece a masterpiece in visuals storytelling characters and overall development compared to the show's beginning which we saw back in the '90s well not me cuz I wasn't born I would recommend watching some of Lynch's other films before the return such as Lost Highway a razor head or M and drive as they get you used to lyncher style the return has such a perfect humor to it too it is seriously funny having me laughing out loud at least five times per episode it is just 18 episodes of perfection mainly focusing on Cooper and another story line that I'm not going to discuss here and not much else making it feel like a reward every time we see characters from the original series you get it early on that this is no Nostalgia trip this is a continuation and huge expansion on everything you thought you knew about the show the way the series is pace is really one of a kind but it will confuse the hell out of you there are random segments which are just not in order and make no sense to why they're not in order and then you finally get to that ending you won't understand it and that is down to you whether you like that or not for me open-ended things have always been much more intriguing to watch such as American Psycho or fight club providing endless rewatchers I for war I'm incredibly excited to rewatch this amazing series all over again I might even make a full timeline video if I can put everything together for myself because there is still a lot of things I do not understand at all there aren't too many episodes and if you're anything like me you will try and get through it as fast as you humanly can and even if you decide this show isn't for you nobody can deny how this show change TV forever there's no Breaking Bad without Twin Peaks there's no lost without Twin Peaks and there's definitely no Riverdale without twin pe oh God never mind [ __ ] Twin Peaks for giving us that monstrosity
