[Music] hey guys Kakarot 197 again with another question of the week and this week we are going to be answering a question Joseph Joe bow Lika Yan asked why did the Titans the elite counterinsurgency branch of the Federation used the high Zach and other Zeon themed mobile suits and as with a lot of things in Gundam we have a real-life explanation and an in-universe explanation so for the real-life explanation it was probably just an easy way to signal to the viewer these guys are the bad guys because they're using Zhou crews who were the bad guys in the first Gundam so they must now be the bad guys - and the mono I just has something more villainous basically it's the same reason as why the Empire from Star Wars it's so German inspired and the same explanation probably holds true for wide Isaac was only able to use one beam weapon at the same time it was a very easy Canon way to still have them using machine guns and a heat Hawk so now we move on to the in-universe explanation and my mental gymnastics to kind of make it work so first let's quickly go over some history the heizak was made by anaheim electronics and after the one year war they acquired basically all of Zeon's mobile suit and even mobile armor manufacturing companies or at least the three most important ones being Zeon ik Z mod and MIP so this has been said a lot of this has been quoted many times as to why hi Zack look so Zeon s because there were a lot of Zeon engineers working on it and while I can see where they're coming from just because their Zeon engineers doesn't mean that they can only make Zeon inspired machines for example we have the GPO one the GPO - the GPO 3 the NEEMO later on we have the Jagan so it's quite clear that they can make Federation esque machines so the question then becomes why didn't they make something Federation asked for the Federation and that then lead me to think what if they didn't make it for the Federation so who else could I've made it for and well after the one year war and that Zeon and side three didn't just disappear into nothingness and weren't just who's served by the Federation again the Principality of Zeon became the Republic of Zeon and actually maintained some autonomy which is up for debate and it has been called a puppet state out of Federation but officially they were autonomous and what does an autonomous state have an army and I can see anaheim electronics jumping onto that because they were able to incorporate all of those Zeon weapons manufacturers so they probably also still had ties with high-ranking members of the New Republic of Zeon's government so they were probably able to get some kind of contract going with them start a development of the hi Zack and then they probably just thought well we have this machine that works that is really good let's just pitch it to the Federation and see what happens the worst we can get is an O and from Anaheim's perspective they were probably able to make a pretty good case considering everything that was going on at the time we have the federation who just blew a lot of money on the god of development project and we have again the federation who just lost a shit-ton of their mobile suits because of a certain nuke which was launched from said Ghanim development project and the Titans were throwing a lot of money at making their own Jim quells and in the future they were going to be they were going to be developing - mark - so they probably were spending a lot of money on their R&D as well so then suddenly getting this proposal from anaheim electronics where they might be able to offer you a cheese a working machine that has a great cost to performance which is very important for the Federation might suddenly make this a very appealing offer and the Federation probably jumped on that thing and another thing that I considered for this is anaheim electronics might have tried to product dump the hi Zack and simply put product dumping means exporting a product for an extremely cheap price because of either small profit margins or because they're actually selling it at a loss while this might sound stupid at first the longtime goal here is to bankrupt the competition get a monopoly and then recoup all your costs and then some by raising the price because there's no longer any competition left so anaheim electronics I would not be surprised if they were trying to become the only mobile suit manufacturer who was selling to all sides of the conflict honestly of all the shady anaheim electronics was doing product dumping probably was their least shady thing so I believe that was definitely a possibility and then further down the line Federation actually started to counteract this by making these strategic Naval Research Institute around the time of chars counter-attack to exactly go against this they wanted to make in-house mobile suits again to kind of counteract a monopoly off anaheim electronics also because there were shady as all hell now of course we also see in universe opposition to hi Zack for the exact same reasons we think it's really weird that the Titans were using hi Zacks for example Carl matsubara from advance of Zeta when he first saw the Zaku hi Zack I mean he was like why are we using this Zaku thing it's obviously what we were fighting against it's stupid that we are using this and then the team captain Wes Murphy went against him by saying it's not about what the Mobile Suit looks like it's not about all that it's about the Mobile Suit working and keeping you alive on the battlefield which is apparently something the hi Zack was pretty good at for a pretty good price and when you go looking at real life examples this has actually happened for example after Operation Barbarossa the Germans and the Russians weren't the best of friends and yet in 1944 the Russians started work on the original su-9 which is different from the su-9 most people are familiar with and when you look at the design plans of that thing it looks suspiciously like the German me-262 and now this thing didn't eventually get mass-produced but that wasn't because they didn't like the design that it was too German it was simply because the other airplane was better and when we didn't think about it from a political and civilian standpoint the taxpayers have to pay for those machines this is something we often forget in when we're talking about like high performance costly machines versus mass production machines someone has to pay for that and the people at the bottom we the regular civilians would be those people so as a politician in a democracy it's probably best if after a very costly war and a very costly terrorist attack that you can say we're going to fix this but we will still keep like we will keep it in the budget we will not be spending another ton of money trying to solve this after we just got our mobile suits Newt and then asked for tomorrow side that's actually a very easy explanation originally the marsai was intended for the a u k-- but the Titans were kind of catching on to the fact that anaheim electronics was sewing to everyone and then they put pressure on Anaheim like hey we feel like you're giving like you're supporting those a you guys and then an I am electronically basically like no we're not what are you talking about here have this high-performance machine the more acai you can have it look at how cooperative we are with you and at the same time they gave the Nemo QD a huge yeah we're totally not working together with those guys and one kind of funny thing I want to end with is this manga here a side story of Zeta Gundam by kazuhisa kundo and this manga actually really adheres to the aesthetics how we would expect them because when we go to the last page what the last pages we can see that on the section of Titans weapons we see the Shocker Shiki Kai the gun the mark to the gonna mark three the shows room Jaeger which looks kind of gap hland desk and the gym - and then when we go to the Ayub page on the next page we suddenly see a lot of familiar mobile suits we see the hi Zac we see Tamar acai we see calm those like unique designs the Grom Lang and they make so much more sense in that context also all aid personnel in this manga is wearing a Zeon uniforms and it was really confusing when I started reading this manga because I suddenly saw Titans pilots firing on Maura sighs and hi Zacks during the grips war but yeah then I quickly realized how things were going also another funny thing is when you look at the gym twos description other than being called the RG m82 it actually states that it has a moveable frame which is identical to that of the Gundam mark - and if that model number was real 82 as in designed in 82 which is how the federation likes the name they're things that would be a giant canonical problem because obviously the mark twos movable frame came from the gym quelle which was only developed in 83 and the gym quelle had a kind of precursor to that so yeah there's no way the gym term would have had that in 82 but still an interesting thing to talk about and talking about the gym twos we will be talking about though a lot more next week so let me know your thoughts down below if you have another question that you want me to answer also leave it down in the comments below and as always a big thank you to the page on supporters I hope all of you watching have a great day and I'll see you all next time [Music] you
