did Qui-Gon jyn ever really feel any form of regret for having Anakin Skywalker trained and what was his reaction when encountering Obi-Wan And discussing the fall of Anakin greetings again curious acolytes of the force and welcome back to the archives the relationship between Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Vader is one that is not explored very in- depth at all in Star Wars Legends as the two of them never really interact however the case is very different for Star Wars Canon where the relationship between Qui-Gon and Anakin and later Vader is regressed and looked into even past the Jedi Master's death Qui-Gon Jinn was the Catalyst that ultimately wanted Skywalker to be trained as a Jedi sensing that he was in fact the chosen one and prophesied to bring balance to the force it was Qui-Gon jyn's dying wish to have Anakin trained by his Apprentice in Kenobi having the faith that he trained Obi-Wan well enough to later accept the responsibility of training The Chosen One Beyond this all of the other Jedi were extremely apprehensive about Skywalker especially the council and he knew in that dying moment that Obi-Wan Kenobi was the only Jedi that he could trust completely following moving on from the physical plane Quon Jinn still had much to learn as he had only dabbled in the idea of becoming a force ghost and transcending death and it would take him many many years before he could ever interact with any of the living in a substantial way the first time he did though he reached out to Anakin he sensed the great fear and hatred rising in Anakin over the Tuscan Raiders and the death and butchering of his very mother Qui-Gon summoned all that he had to reach out to the boy and begged him to stop in the Star Wars cannon novel The Queen's hope is the first time where we see Anakin actually Ponder upon Qui-Gon Jinn reaching out to him confirming that in Canon Anakin did actually hear the voice of Quon during the butchering of the Raiders while on nabo Anakin visited a location set aside in remembrance of Qui-Gon JY there Anakin attempted to reach out to the Jedi Master through the force unfortunately though he would receive no answer Anakin though took this non-response a different way believing that Qui-Gon Jinn was still out there somewhere and believed that perhaps by not answering was Qui-Gon jyn's own lesson but this would be the last interaction between Qui-Gon Jinn and the young Skywalker however it would not be the last interaction between Qui-Gon and Vader in the year zob BBY following the death of Obi-Wan and the destruction of the Death Star Darth Vader's TIE fighter was shot down landing on a world where an ancient Jedi Temple had once stood venturing into the temple Darth Vader sensed that there was a Nexus As Time began to Ripple and Echo around him hearing the Voice Of Quon Jinn and later Obi-Wan Kenobi here Darth Vader hears the past that Qui-Gon Jinn believes that he is in fact the chosen one that he is a virgin and will bring balance importantly here though he refers to him as Anakin and not Vader inferring that to Qui-Gon just like Anakin himself he believes that the boy that is Anakin Skywalker and Vader are separate people but now that we've established the few times that Anakin and Quon Jin interacted following the Jedi Master's death what is Quon Jin's own thoughts on Darth Vader in the Canon novel from a certain point of view we get a small section that follows Qui-Gon Jinn as a forc ghost here it is revealed that Qui-Gon Jinn is fully aware that Anakin has fallen to the dark side and has now become this Twisted evil thing however unlike Yoda and others such as Obi-Wan Kenobi guon Jinn does look upon Anakin and Vader as separate personages while Obi-Wan believes that Anakin is the one that ultimately fell to the dark side Quon is able to separate the two of them but now we get into the interesting mindset of Qui-Gon jyn it is revealed here that he shares no real shame for Anakin being trained as the chosen one despite all of the atrocities committed by Vader Qui-Gon Jin holds true that it was the will of the force that the boy be trained although things did not turn out exactly how Qui-Gon Jin had first seen he still knew that the boy was the chosen one but despite trying to justify the will of the force for three decades Qui-Gon Jinn does feel responsible to some degree what's important to note here though is that Qui-Gon Jinn feels much shame over another aspect of Anakin's training and not the boy himself in the year 0ab just as Luke Skywalker is discovering his burnt Homestead and the death of Uncle Owen and Aunt baru Qui-Gon as a fully formed Force ghost appears to the now elderly Kenobi Qui-Gon deeply apologizes to his former student stating that although he believed that Anakin should have been trained it was not his place to put that sort of responsibility onto Obi-Wan a responsibility that he did not ask for Qui-Gon Jinn could sense the shame in Obi-Wan and how Obi-Wan too felt responsible for Skywalker's turn and embraced the dark side he sees the pain specifically in his student and apologizes for the fact that it all started with Quon Obi-Wan though shocks Quon Jin and tells him that the only person that could have forced Anakin to fall to the dark side was Anakin and that nor he nor Qui-Gon were responsible but as the passage comes to a close it is stated that Quon Jin believes to at least some extent that Obi-Wan is lying here and that he does actually hold his former Master somewhat responsible even if he would never say it this deeply speaks about the character of Qui-Gon jyn Qui-Gon who holds a lot of similarities to Luke out of everybody Qui-Gon Jin continues to reach out to Skywalker an attempt to lead him towards the ways of the light he tries to reach out to him as Anakin and later as Darth Vader and while he believes fully that he is in fact the chosen one and will bring balance to the force that doesn't mean that he shares no shame in how it all occurred the tragic aspect however is the Fate that he forced upon Obi-Wan Kenobi being one of the last surviving Jedi in all of existence forced to carry with him the weight of Qui-Gon jyn's final dying wish and I find it quite tragic and yet still very much so Obi-Wan Kenobi to tell Quon that it was not his fault even if Qui-Gon jyn knows his Apprentice so well that he believes that he is lying only for his own sake it is true that Anakin Skywalker Darth Vader aided directly in destroying the Jedi Order but balance did need to be achieved the Jedi had become too complacent and had ruled in the Galaxy for too long becoming a corruptible version of the virtues that they once held strong the force witnessed this in Qui-Gon Jinn being a servant of the force followed its wills it was the very fate of the force itself for Anakin Skywalker to fall and embrace the dark side Qui-Gon Jinn understood this completely especially after Anakin's Redemption but that does not spare Qui-Gon Jinn of his conscience and how it certainly did damage to his relationship with Obi-Wan Kenobi even if Kenobi would never say it but anyway my friends and acolytes of the force what are your thoughts on this what are your thoughts on the many times that Qui-Gon tried to reach out to V and Anakin and what are your thoughts on where Qui-Gon shared the greatest shame my friends and acolytes thank you so much for visiting our archives yet again and May the force be with [Music] you [Music] [Music]
