Hey Youtube Coppersan here! Almost all
resistance classes are underplayed in maplestory and the robot controlling mechanic
is no different. Sitting close to the bottom of the classes that reached level 250. But hey
at least they are still doing better than wild hunters. So why doesn’t anyone play this class?
Let’s find out in “Why no one plays Mechanic!” Like always I trained this class to level
210 to find out more about their training rotations and testing their strengths and wit
against some of the early game bosses. During this video this mechanic has about 4k stats
with some pensalir gear and boss accessories. Like always those bosses were treating me badly
and I only found a handful of boss accessories. We are playing in the reboot server and I am
making use of my 8k+ legion and all link skills! Mechanics are a cruel combination of amazing
gameplay and horrible gameplay. Their duality can be seen in everything they do. You’re riding
on top of this washing machine making Wash from my hero academia proud. But then you also
have this incredibly detailed and amazing looking fifth job skill. It almost feels
out of place how good that carrier looks. Mechanics are one of those classes that are
slow starters. They use a lot of skills and their rotation is everything but lazy early
on. Without proper funding things feel quite bad. I dropped about 100 nodes on this
guy and still it felt pretty horrible to grind. Mechanics their main mobbing attack
is pretty meh dealing only 4 lines of damage. They have to use their missiles to add damage
however reboot monsters are super tanky so it doesnt add much. And they have to set
up their army of robots across the map. Mechanics have a skill called Robot mastery
where they get more damage for every robot summoned. They can have up to 7 robots
active. Which is a great increase in damage but that also means maintenance. And
if there is one thing maplers dont like it is maintenance. Your robots need to be placed
in strategic spots so you can farm as optimal as possible. There is a healing slash debuff
robot. One that just shoots at nearby monsters, one that summons smaller robots, teleporter
robots and robots that electrify the ground. And then there also are two fifth job skill
summons including that amazing carrier. The turret and healing robot no longer have
cooldowns but they do have a duration. So they need to be refreshed every now and then. It's
a very different playstyle compared to most other classes who just jump and attack across
the map. Mechanics feel a bit more static, it also doesn't help that some skills like
their hyper skill attack distortion bomb and their mobile missile battery skills cannot
be used in the air. You feel like playing a big clunky machine that doesn’t really move
all that much. But the thing is, earlier on you definitely need to move around a lot as
your robots don’t really grind that well yet. Because mechs have so many summons and skills
there also are a lot of nodes to boost. So until you reach around level 220 you’re going
to be fiddling with different nodes just to boost your damage by a bit. Mechanics don’t
deel a lot of lines of damage in one attack, instead they have multiple skills and
summons hitting all at once to deal enough damage. It’s a very different
playstyle that you have to like. Now grinding was really not that great earlier
on. But this class is a slow start. Once I got into chu chu I was dealing a bit more
damage getting a new symbol. And it was here that I was getting a glimpse of the grinding
power of this class. I placed my robots all over the map and could mostly just stay in 1
spot blasting away left and right. You’re also grinding a lot faster thanks to your roll of
the dice, double down and loaded dice skill. Sometimes you roll multiple sixes which increases
your exp gained by up to 50%. Combined with holy symbol you do have an advantage
exp wise over non pirate classes. Once you get a mechanic in a good spot with
their funding and nodes this class has amazing grinding potential. But it requires a high
investment that most maplers aren’t willing to make. Mechs do have a decent legion effect
that gives buff duration which could be useful for a lot of classes but not enough so
that everyone gets this class to 250. Bossing wise this class is also high
maintenance. Keeping all your summons up and using a few low cooldown skills
while also firing missiles and your own attack. You do have a crazy amount of burst
with your full metal barrage though. You’re invincible while using it and you can spam
more missiles while holding down the skill. It does a crazy amount of damage but also has
a fat 200 second cooldown. Which is the same cooldown as your mecha carrier. Mechs do
have a dash and an upjump but still they don’t have the greatest mobility. They do have
another iframe with their giant robot skill. Which is great until it ends and you’re still
locked in place for a second afterwards haha Mechs its missiles target the boss monster
with the highest hp which isn't that great because it took a while for the arms to start
dying haha. Besides that crazy burst I wasn't too blown away by their bossing. They do have that
healing robot that also reduces enemy defense and increases final damage of all party members. So
they do have that one powerful debuff but that’s it. If you need a bind you’ll have to use erda
nova as they don’t have their own bind skill. There is some good news for this class
though. Almost all the issues that I mentioned are going to be changed with the
upcoming updates. The cooldowns of your robot factory and rock n shock electric
field robots will be removed too. Which is great because it sucks that every
time you leave the map to go into a portal your robots despawn. And now some
of those have cooldowns meaning you cant grind optimally. Your basically punished for
leaving your map at the moment as a mechanic. Other changes are that you can use your hyper
skill attack and mobile missile battery in the air. Nexon is also changing the time that
you’re stuck after using your giant robot skill so that these things don't happen
anymore. And mosty importantly the devs are changing the missiles again. So you can
hold them down while using other skills. So that is going to be pretty amazing
for every mechanic ever. More consistent dps when bossing and when grinding! These
changes will be released a bit before the summer update and with the summer update
for maplestory global and maplestory sea. Mechanics are a class that has some amazing
grinding capabilities but it takes a lot of time and investment before you can really
see that in action. At least in the reboot server where the monsters are a lot tankier.
Right now there still is too much clunkiness and punishable mechanics for this class that make
it hard to enjoy it properly as it is right now. But after the savior update in the summer this
class will feel a lot better at least gameplay wise. So perhaps this class can get a bit
of a resurgence after the savior update! What do you think of the Mechanic? And what
class should be next on why no one or everyone plays? The one after this is going to be
why no one plays blaze wizard! Let me know in the comments! And as always many thanks to
