Why Marinette is a Problematic Mary Sue | Miraculous Ladybug Rant

marinette or mary sue mary and i'd be like ain't nobody catch me ain't nobody gonna catch me hey guys welcome to anime puffs i'm your host wylie and as you can guess by the title of this video we're gonna be talking about why marinette is problematic so in my last video i explained all the things that marionette has done that basically make her the worst and i'm gonna explain to you guys today why her behavior is problematic and why there needs to be something done about it so let's hop into it so some of the worst things that marinette has done was sneaking into adrian's house which could have gotten her arrested following behind him or stalking him which could have gotten her arrested being a terrible friend at times to alya as well as you know julica and the other girls and then we've seen on multiple occasions that marinette has abused her power as ladybug so i know honestly i think that every single person on this planet has some type of problematic behaviors but what makes a person truly problematic is when they don't want to fix the issues that make them problematic and really affect other people they're just being self-absorbed and they think that nothing is wrong with them they're in denial so marinette is definitely a problematic mary sue because she constantly does things that are terrible no one on the show holds her accountable for it and she gets rewarded every single time she does something terrible whereas all the characters on the show whether they be a villain hero or just you know an extra background extra they all experience consequences for their actions so one of the you know most profound things that i've noticed is that marinette is constantly rewarded for her bad behavior so one of the times that you know she is rewarded for that bad behavior that really stood out to me was in the chat blank episode when she sneaks into adrian's house dressed as ladybug again abusing her power you know we see that she gets rewarded like adrien figures out that marinette is ladybug and they start dating which is a reward i have something to tell you i've realized i've realized that you're not just a friend of me i've always felt like you were more than that and now i know why [Music] does that does this mean that you you like the beret it means that i love you and when things go downhill and open off discoveries you know that adrian is uh cat noir ladybug is just able to basically reverse time that's so that it never happened [Music] trust me it's better this way miraculous ladybug why and then we see in the you know heart hunter and love eater episodes that marionette gets really jealous and blindsided by her jealousy for adrien being with kagami focus ladybug focus that she makes a foolish mistake which eventually leads master foo to get caught by hawk moth which gets him beat up basically [Music] what a pleasure it is to finally meet you your defeat will be my greatest achievement and you know while uh master food does endure that long beating and miriam feels terrible about it masterful relinquishes his power of being the guardian of the miraculous to marinette hereby relinquish the miracle box and name ladybug the new guardian [Applause] so she's basically rewarded for that behavior so really no consequence the only true consequence that we see in this episode is that adrian moves on to kagami which you know we already know that adrian's going to end up with marinette that's the way the show goes but we also see that you know marinette will no longer be in contact with master fu which is kind of sad um but i kind of think that that door could be you know reopened because although masterful doesn't exactly remember who marinette is um he does like her and she does have like somewhat of a relationship with miriam so no real consequence whereas every single other character on the show experiences consequences all right let's get into it so arya experiences uh consequences when she tries to prove that chloe is actually ladybug you know chloe eventually gets her expelled a consequence and a punishment and then after that she transforms into lady wi-fi because she becomes accommodating and even when she's deacomatized what happens in the puppeteer 2 episode we see that audi is still affected by this it negatively affects her because she's still being haunted by the memories of becoming lady wifi i know that we're not really ourselves when we're akumatized but it's weird to see ourselves like that as super villains so that is a permanent consequence we see that you know lila even experienced his consequences because of her you know lies and her deception she lost her idol which is ladybug who she held closer to her heart even though leila is evil we've already established that and she also lost her crush adrian she doesn't really have a chance to be with him a consequence for her lies we see that chloe is constantly experiencing punishment i mean her mother doesn't like her and mistreats her she doesn't really have any friends because of her nasty attitude and in all honesty i don't believe that chloe's evil i just think that she's completely ignorant and she's spoiled and she's privileged and no one has really stock it to her the correct way or to her the truth that's why she behaves terribly um yeah but she has no friends her only friends are sabrina and adrian adrian doesn't really care for her too much but yeah those are her only two friends and she's constantly being you know hell captive by a comataze victim so she's always getting punished and then eventually when she does make a change what happens we get the be miraculous snatched right out of her hands i mean it was chloe's fault but she still had a punishment for her actions um she did side with hawk moth she did you know steal the miracle box and she faced the consequences so because of her actions she will never get a chance to hold on to the be miraculous ever again which is really sad because she won't be a superhero anymore like she wanted to be and also she's losing one of her best friends polly i only need the queen bee and i'll save the world all by myself i'm sorry chloe but i can't let you do that so we see that every character experiences hardships even our primary villain hawkmoth experiences hardships he's lost his wife who is in a suspended state he doesn't really have a relationship with adrian um that kind of hurts him really bad in season one and two he's very emotionally distant from adrian and you know he would hate thought of losing adrian but he kind of changes in season three but we see that and he loses and is embarrassed and humiliated in every single episode after his plans do not work so they've all experienced hardships but marinette has lost nothing she only gains like her friends never holds her accountable her best friend never holds her accountable aka aya she comes from a well to do family like both her parents love her to death which i really appreciate it i really like her parents they're so sweet she has a home and a nice bedroom you know that's comfy for her you know she's a talented fashion designer she's popular she has all these friends everyone loves her her favorite pop star you know jacket stone loves her so she has nothing to lose and she never loses anything so she's in fact a mary sue and she drives me insane and i just wish the writers would create more depth with her but i doubt that they're gonna do so because judging by thomas's uh twitter it's just not gonna happen but those are the reasons why she's problematic she drives me insane and at times she makes me root for lila just to create balance in the show we can't have this person just doing whatever they want to do having no consequence whatsoever so lila is basically marinette's karma and that's the reason why she can't stand her but anyway guys that's it for this video if you have any more reasons why marionette is problematic drop
