Why i carry the Free P4 over the Leatherman Wave

uh hey guys uh this is david from alphaletico and today i would like to make the argument of why i like to carry the leatherman free p4 over the leatherman wave and this is in response to a video that was put out by max level edc of what he's getting rid of his leatherman free p4 so first off i've owned and used the leatherman wave for about 15 years and the leatherman free p4 and the p2 since uh they came out and i've been carrying the p4 pretty much since it came out i prefer to carry the p4 or the p2 just because for just i think like maybe an additional ounce i get the extra couple of tools um now the the free p4 over the wave um in the closed position position you can already see that it's sleeker you know it's got the better uh pocket clip uh and in the closed position also uh you have this area here that could be used hammer which i do use uh when i you know if i don't have a hammer on me or something and i need to uh bang something uh and you don't have that option with the wave uh now once you open it i do prefer the leatherman free p4s uh pliers uh over the over the wave um it's also got this crimper down here um another thing i like uh from the p4 over the uh uh wave is uh this depth gauge is great uh i think it's it's it's a better tool than than the ruler on here like the one on here even though it's bigger it's kind of hard to it's kind of hard to use as opposed to the one here although it's very very small for its purpose it's a better tool um i also really like the the phillips head on here it's really nice the thick flat head here i didn't like as much so i i ground it down and i do prefer it this way um i did grind it down here a bit too much where the magnet supposed to uh come in contact but it hasn't been an issue it stays closed it doesn't it doesn't really uh affect the tool much now another thing that i like on the p4 is this can opener i like to use it to scrape round surfaces uh that works great uh for that um now let's talk about the uh cons of the uh p4 so first off the magnets in here do pick up dust metal dust and that could be a pain if you're doing metal work it has happened to me if i was doing a lot of metal work i i need to clean it and it really does become a pain but uh in general i don't spend my days uh doing metal work so it's okay um now the wave has a great and i wish they had this on the p4 it has this great diamond file i would rather this to be an implement on the p4 over either the saw which i don't use as much or the uh serrated blade which is uh even though it's a great serrated blade i already do have a knife on here so um i rather have a really nice uh file than kind of like a redundancy here with the blades um they do give you a uh a little file here with the screwdriver on top i i do use it but it's not it's not very big and it doesn't have that diamond file which i really like my solution for that is that in my wallet i carry this here and it has the uh diamond file i can use and and i also carry this little bit in there um now the wave uh enough of the p4 right the wave um the wave has a can opener here that's great um but and then it has this bit exchanger that takes up a lot of the space and it has that little bit down there um now that's that's one of them like one of the main reasons why people really like this tool is for the bits now um i do have lots of bits for this and and uh i i do use it for that but when you have dedicated tools um you don't really need all these bits and all this like when i was in high school when i was in school and stuff like that i didn't really have that many tools with me the wave with all the bits that's great okay when you have thousands of tools uh i don't really need this to be my bit system okay um the leatherman free p4 i carry because it's easy to carry um it does have a lot of negatives over the wave but still this is something i'm carrying you know uh i'm not gonna carry uh a hammer and a pair of pliers because the hammer is better than this and the pair of pliers is better than this or or whatever um when i'm just when i'm not working i'll just carry this same way i'm not going to carry this with a bunch of bits and all that uh i'll just use the dedicated tools you know so yeah that's really the reason why i prefer this this superior tool uh over this even though this has uh some better tools so uh yeah so uh please like and subscribe um and let me know what you guys think about this
