not often in the history of the sport do we see Father and Son reach the same level of skill from the moment Charlie Woods stepped onto the golf course everyone has been intently following the evolution of the 14-year-old Talent can he live up to his name is the question on everyone's lips ever since he played his first tournament with his father Tiger Woods at the 2020 PNC Championship people have been thrilled with his performance his solid swing long range exponential growth and mannerisms on the course have left everyone wondering if we may be witnessing the rise of the next golf legend 2023 was an amazing year for the young Charlie Woods he participated in multiple tournaments without missing out on valuable family time as he had his father as his caddy they competed together most recently at the PNC Championship where they finished fifth it was evident to see how much Charlie had evolved but after a solid year of golf what can we expect from Charlie Woods in the 2024 season join us as we take a look at the life of this Rising talent and take a peak into what 2024 holds for him from a young age Charlie started showing the passion for the game that made his father one of the best athletes in history he played his first golf tournament in a us kids event where he finished second shooting 55 for nine holes as you would expect Charlie was coached by his dad but tiger took it easy with him after all the kid could choose whatever he wished to do this freedom to let Charlie make his own choice choices allowed him to prioritize soccer over golf while growing up in South Florida it wasn't until 2020 during the pandemic when the world got locked down that Charlie found a deeper passion for golf and he began to take it more seriously 3 years ago when the majority of boys were still required to attend Middle School Charlie made his spectacular debut on the national scene it was a dream come true for him to play alongside his father at the PNC Championship Tiger Woods the 15-time major winner experienced a feeling when playing with his son that only a father could describe a sense that he has succeeded in passing it On to the Next Generation the then 11-year-old left golf fans in Wonder as he effortlessly mirrored his dad in all areas including outfits mannerisms and the game itself the duo finished seventh in the PNC standings which is an admirable position with an 11-year-old on the card a year later the team came back stronger than ever and once again stole the show at the father-son event there were concerns that team Woods wouldn't be able to attend the event because tiger was involved in a horrific car accident earlier that year but the championship proved to be the Legend's comeback and is there a better way to return along with his Prodigy son the pair only missed out on the title by Just Two Shots finishing in second behind John Daly and his son Dy Jr since that time we've seen Charlie make his first Eagle it was in the first round of the PNC championship in 2020 Charlie after putting his Drive in the Fairway hooked a five wood around trees from 175 yds the ball landed short of the green and then skipped up to within 2 ft of the hole that's a crazy shot for anybody and it came from an 11-year-old boy Charlie ended it by calmly rolling in the cup and that's a natural Eagle tiger couldn't hide his happiness and was grinning from ear to ear as he clapped for his son this year marks the fourth consecutive time team Woods has competed at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club now 14 years old Charlie stepped back a te and is now playing from the same distance as the likes of John Daly VJ Singh Jim furick and former Women's World number one Nelly Corda remember the kid is only 14 years old the year saw him grow as a golfer he participated in nine tournaments with his father serving as his caddy 2023 served as a good campaign for Charlie Woods who won uped his father by winning a high school state championship trophy with their latest outing in the last event of the year at the PNC Championship where they finished at T5 All Eyes now turn to 2024 and what it holds for Charlie Woods while soccer is one of the most popular sports in Florida high schools the state also produces many division one golfers every year as of this season Charlie ranked 80th overall among the 4,088 boys that attended High School in Florida he was also the ninth ranked freshman out of 657 boys and 28th out of 1, 1420 in class 1a where his school competes with those rankings Charlie added a remarkable achievement one that not even his father could achieve leading his team to the high school state championship Charlie won the FHSAA class a state championship with the Benjamin School whereas tiger was unable to win the prize in his Time Charlie's fiveman team won their fourth State title and he finished 26th in the individual standings with two rounds of 78 and 76 tiger believes his son's swing speed has been improving dramatically since last year he also pointed out that Charlie has grown so fast that it can be hard to believe sometimes that he's just 14 he has grown 4 in in the past year and Justin Thomas even joked to the reporter saying I can't quite give Charlie much grief anymore because he is getting close to being able to beat me up as he's getting bigger he's getting stronger he reportedly carried a drive 320 yards away during this season's PNC Championship with the ball ending just over the back of the green on the par 4 12th hole I drove the ball really good today didn't miss a fairway and still managed to shoot eight under we just suck with putts today Charlie said about their performance at the event but it's also wise to pull the break sometimes and look back at how far Charlie has come in a very short time after all he fully focused on this game three years ago people need to stop comparing him to other kids who have been playing competitive golf for their whole lives give it a while and see where he is in a year or five with the name Woods it's nearly impossible not to compare him with his dad but the point is valid that name alone puts pressure on the young boy Charlie's first full competitive Junior season was last year in 2023 he mostly played in state and Regional tournaments and in this somewhat debut season Charlie has performed pretty well on the junior PGA South Florida tour Woods has finished in the top 20 in six of eight events this year he is averaging a score of 7667 as part of the boys 1318 medalist tour considering Woods is firmly at the younger end of the age group that's an excellent Mark at this stage overall he ranked 38th on The Medalist tour in 2023 with 481 points well over 200 players have competed on the tour this year so he has impressed to this point it will take some time before Woods gets to that level where he can be ranked among all golfers worldwide but he certainly has the genes to make his way there Charlie played 16 events recorded in the junior golf scoreboard system he collected two victories and his best round was an impressive 66 score in September during the second round of the notab three Florida regional qualifier at Mission Inn that was also the course where he shot rounds of 78 and 76 to help his high school team win the Florida class 1a state championship what will be interesting is to see how Charlie will perform compared to his peers if he gets exposed to more national competition till now he hasn't competed in any American Junior Golf Association events despite qualifying since he turned 13 also he hasn't attempted to qualify for any United States Golf Association National amateur events most especially the United States Junior Amateur which tiger won for three consecutive years from 1991 to 1993 with the 2024 season ahead Charlie's schedule is packed for this year since he is still in the amateur divisions he he will probably start the following year in the Martin Downs tournament where he tied for 19th last year he will surely look to improve on that this tournament will be around March so the following month he will participate in the crane watch event a tournament where he tied for eighth place in 2023 these two tournaments are hosted by The Medalist tour so continuing on that he ought to participate in the Wellington National which will be played at the Wellington National Golf Course Charlie finished last season in the 15th spot but is eager to aim for first place moving to June Charlie will face two important tournaments the junior PGA Championship and the Nicholas junior Championship Charlie finished joint 33rd in the junior PGA Championship while he finished 39th at the Nicholas junior Championship Charlie's hectic schedule will continue towards the end of 2024 he will participate in the sfpga Junior Cup where he finished 10th last year moreover he will also participate at in all the local regionals Invitational and national championships of the Nota Bay 3 tournaments which he played in 2023 as well Charlie is currently building to become someone of his father's level or even more and while history hasn't been kind to the
