[Music] um let's call me get some get started the legendary Feats of strong men have been celebrated throughout time but just how true are these fabled acts the World's Strongest Man after years of competing as Rivals the four strongest men in the world are teaming up to find out they'll take on Epic Feats of Strength in a quest to prove who really is [Applause] the strongest man in history this episode the four strongest men in the world are in Moorhead Minnesota the home of Viking culture in America attempt three of the most difficult challenges Viking heroes are known for Let's Go including hoisting of 1433 pound Mast so heavy it broke the back of the warrior who lifted it and killed him can they outdo these Fierce nursing wow I'm seeing Stars [Music] [Music] guys I'm so excited to be in Minnesota I want to go ice fishing do you guys want to do that with me no no you can go do it tell us about it yeah that sounds great this is going to be so much fun and you guys are just not gonna do it not I can't wait to do all this stuff experience all these things that are Viking I brought the guys to Moorhead because Minnesota is the center of Viking culture in the United States as a straw man I've heard about the Viking Feats of Strength my whole life I love the Warriors the spirit the drive I just love it all this is more than just doing these Feats of Strength we have a great opportunity to go places and experience the cultures it'd be great to be able to go through Morehead and get some Viking souvenirs do you dress up Nick I might have dressed as a viking a few times I love going to like the Renaissance festival stuff like that [Music] all right guys we're gonna do our first Viking Challenge today so let's see if we can find something to carry this one's 345. so watch the weight we've got to pick up it's ever in that 3 41. pretty faulty what for the first challenge I wanted to show the guys the feet of strength that it took to be considered a man in Viking culture and achieve full circular status as a rite of passage young men in Iceland test themselves to achieve full Starker status a term that literally means full strength in Viking culture you can achieve that status by lifting a boulder that weighs at least 341 pounds but that's not hard enough for the four strongest men in the world can our strongman lift the Rock and then also walk with it let's find out all right let's see if we can get this thing where you weighed scale over here 345. well this is our Stone does this scale go up enough for Eddie to get on it I think it's a matter of fact that Brian Shaw has never actually been weighed and claims to be for 450 but I believe it well why don't you do the honors and then I'll wait after you oh 320 320. lightweight way more as a strong man is actually a big deal we all want the number to be higher 368 340 of it's right here oh 398 Come on B well this is a Moment of Truth 4 40 4 45 that's a couple biscuits my name is Brian Shaw I've been fascinated with strength my entire life I'm a four-time World's Strongest Man Champion I'm six foot eight and at 445 pounds I'm literally three times most people so do you think an average man can actually lift that but I don't know let's find out come on buddy here's our man it's hard to realize the scale and difficulty of what strong men do so when the producers asked us to take on these challenges we decided to show how hard they are by trying them out on an average man please if you would try and pick up this 345 pound Stone in this case our wedi 5'8 155 pound camera system okay any way you want any way you want well I'm bringing the forklift then give it your best shot buddy God ah well done so next time give me or I'll be first then yeah I'll go first this is honestly the first stone I've picked up since my bicep surgery so I'm a little bit nervous about it I did a cleaning press a few months ago and it's actually what started the tear in this bicep and which is why I now have that beautiful scar right there my name is Robert obrist professional strongman out of Texas I've had the American log press record for the last four years strongest shoulders in America and just basic all-around badass this is the first stone you'll have lifted yeah all right there we go what we decided do is walk the stone 100 feet and see from there who could keep going the furthest [Music] here we go I was worried it was real slick it was icy every step you move a little bit even though we had these little cleats on the bottom of our shoes we'd still slip around you got it full strikes right yeah come on you got it nice so there you go that's good enough for me it's not an easy way and it's not an easy thing to hold we're used to having handles and grips and stuff when we use things so having to take a stone and squeeze it into your body like that I'm just happy I got it done and didn't get hurt the question is do you think the short uh chubby guy to my right and carry it a little bit further it's got two biceps still attached so I mean that's slightly better than you mate slightly interesting yeah get this I'm retired retired still stronger than you how does that feel you're stronger than me how's that feel you are not strong I am stronger trophy where's my trophy trophy where's yours for me right now what'd you do last year what did you do one more strongest man last year I'm Eddie Hall I'm from Stoke on Trent England I'm the World's Strongest Man 2017 I've won six UK titles and I hold the world record for the most weight ever lifted off before half a time you Americans that's 1102 pounds we can find out who's stronger right now your turn on no problem let's go fat boy everything is a competition between me and Robert Oberst we've been in a number of contests I've won some he's won some but I think in all honesty I Trump him all the time because I've won the World's Strongest Man and I've got the half it's on deadlift yeah let's go oh [Music] 345 pounds this is a really tough feed of strength let's go ahead before I'm 51 okay I think the Vikings back in the day were the biggest and strongest and the nastiest people around they were just animals [Music] I mean I'm pop Viking myself and I suppose that's probably where my strength comes from there it is oh there you go that was one foot further than Oberst Loop Victorious again it's a lot harder than it looks I nearly slept and broke my background we haven't talked about how freaking crazy this is like yeah we got ice it was kind of scary sheets of ice everywhere but I was able to do it and most importantly I beat opens Come on B come on Brian he's looking serious though [Music] easy steps there you go watch the ice you got 20 feet 20 feet watch the ice come on man got it you got it I don't do it I don't do oh he went farther than you did certainly challenging with the uh you're still making the way [Laughter] [Music] Nick's perfect for moving rocks because when he first started lifting weights that's all they had to train with would be a caveman here and a caveman there and they would see who could pick up the biggest rock oh he's got it so low oh I don't I am not terrible I'm Nick best I'm the old man in the group I'm 50 years old I'm two-time National and world power team champion and these guys constantly hit me with old man jokes but I'm still running with them I'm still putting the heat on them and I'm here to prove I'm the best Viking foreign [Music] throughout this entire competition especially here in the finals he's running out of momentum shot of the Finish [Applause] and he did it big brilliant shot wins the truck pull yeah [Music] go Nick whoo oh about technique terrible terrible all right here we go Nick there you go there you go I'm the old man in the group I'm 50 years old but I hold the world record in the shield carry so I knew before I even touched the thing I was gonna win they don't stand a chance let's go Nick almost there buddy oh he's going for more oh he's going for more [Applause] young little kids can't beat the old man at this event my event fine I am one step closer now to being a Viking and I beat the kids well done guys we just lost to a 50 year old man [Music] all right guys check out this cool Viking Church wow this is pretty cool nor the church as a straw man I've heard about the Viking Feats of Strength my whole life and then now to come here and touch them and smell them and feel them is it's just amazing it's so much fun my balls are Frozen to my shorts so that sucks oh yeah there we are so guys as you know today is Friday do you guys know why it's called Friday it's the day after Thursday because Monday was already taken no all the days of the week are from the Norse gods most people don't know the days of the week are all based on the Viking gods Odin in Viking culture he was known as woden Wednesday is woden's day Thor is Thursday Thor's day Friga is Friday Thor in terms of strength I mean he's the top guy imagine that imagine being that great you've got a day named I thought the global Monday to Sunday you know I I really think I look like Thor and want to be like Thor you look more like Professor Xavier bro says the smallest guy of the group yeah you're a Thor okay yeah I can throw a hammer further than anything I bet I can I think we should all get some Hammers and go and do this that proves how strong you are how much can you wind it up and throw it as far as you can was that really your throw it's going to be easy you and T-Rex got the same arm literally all right we'll see let's go find some Thomas and sort this up all right Eddie drives us all nuts he has to make everything a bet that he can win he's a child a 350 pound child but nonetheless a child [Music] here we go ladies well guys here we are let's do the hammer throw this thing's at 13 pounds just to be clear hear the rules we're gonna draw a line no one can pass the line no one's allowed to spin would fall spin yeah no he wouldn't that's a good question he just throws his hammer so whoever throws it the furthest is four so what we say the loser I think the loser should jump in an ice bath for two minutes I think that's fair uh yeah I ain't losing what do you think a normal human could do what about an average I think we need to bring in an average guy to try this out yeah yeah yeah all right all right 13 pounds I mean that'll tear your arm out of stock if you do it wrong I believe you it is 10 of your body weight here we go let's clear up oh better back up here a little bit that was absolutely pathetic well well done I think that was pretty good [Music] there you go 49 foot that's not bad at all you think you could throw that far Nick [Music] terrible 95.95 it was a little difficult because we were sinking in snow and the balance was weird and my feet my toes were numb it was a bit tossed it was all right I felt like I could have done better I'm not worried about it Go Brian all right let's see go ahead I'm 90 feet I think it's fair to say I'm more Incredible Hulk than Thor and you're up come on Ed wow [Music] that wasn't bad yeah 106 feet 106 feet yeah 91 Feet's the one to beat if I lose the hammer throw I am not excited about taking an ice bath hey Nick don't screw it up Mr eye spot when you're ready the other guys it's almost like a reward to them they all take ice baths regularly in their training so it's no big deal to them if they lose this bet it's a big deal to me I do not want to be called can't stand it oh brilliant technique oh awesome oh oh [Music] 91 Feet's the one to beat oh brilliant technique I wish I could whistle oh 70 feet three inches I never knew I was that bad at hammer throw I did great in the disc in college and figured I'd be able to throw that pretty far oh it's gonna be ice bath for you but I figured Nick was going to lose the hammer throw it's kind of an explosive lift and Nick's kind of a stiffer guy probably because he's been lifting since before I was born in fact Nick may be my grandfather you have earned yourself a Minnesota Viking ice bath this sucks can we all openly say that I am the closest thing to four right here no [Music] what do you got I think it's gonna be about 50. Nick this is a real Viking experience buddy you want to be a viking you want to do all this Viking stuff here you go what get down a little bit lower get lower shoulders in on the time stops now you are there you go oh yeah it's bad enough in the cold water you gotta dump blocks the ice on my head we're bouncing off what time are we on 120 oh nearly there I just felt like getting out and strangling the law 10 more seconds nine nine hey seven seven six five and a half really wait what comes after six one two and a half times [Music] you should feel great very euphoric after recovering in a viking ice bath no no no [Music] every time I leave my house because of my size and my routine that I follow it is literally costing me thousands and thousands of dollars I have to eat 10 000 calories a day and I have to eat every couple hours oh yeah that's looking good I have to have a full kitchen set up in my hotel room and having my food shipped can cost more money it is not cheap to be Brian Shaw thank you [Music] that is awesome this is cool yeah our next challenge the Viking Pool we're gonna pull the boat so that's pretty authentic what we're doing with this challenge is pulling the Viking boat up a help because it was somewhat of a real representation of how those ships would have to move the Vikings were famous for traveling great distances by boat their Advanced ship building techniques allowed them to conquer Faraway places that were previously Out Of Reach Vikings had to be strong enough to attack immediately upon arrival and likely had a large number of Warriors band together to move their ships over land can our strong men pull a Viking ship solo find out it's not too heavy of a pool but I don't think any of us really understands what it's going to feel like going uphill the trailer and the boat together are roughly 12 000 pounds like I think any of us would smoke it on flat ground but pulling it over this incline right here is a lot more similar to what the Vikings were doing going over Mountain minus the logs of course yeah I've got a really good relationship with the local fire department so I will go out and train with fire trucks that range anywhere from 40 000 to as heavy as 80 000 pounds if the boat was only 12 000 pounds but when you add in the grade of the parking lot that we had to pull the boat up it was pretty crazy they probably didn't do it by themselves either so we're basically challenging 12 Vikings at once let's prove that we are stronger than the Vikings let's suit it up and get it going right so Rules to This pull we're gonna pull it 60 foot when the body crosses the line that's going to be a time it's the quickest to 60 foot all right Nick you ready to do this yeah all right Set Go I said nice [Music] the angle pulling it up the street just made it exponentially harder the Fuller up there I got I didn't have the body mass and the weight to get it moving as fast pull then dive your head down just like that and dive well good hips and thighs there we are come on Nick there we go you tap it up that's it is the Viking want to be tapping out all right whoa whoa this is pretty poor Nick considering you're the one who wanted to come here no my voice I just flat out ran out of gas I'm not that big I'm not that heavy the taller you are and the heavier you are the easier that is I just couldn't finish it it was just that heavy I was just disappointed in myself it's like tapped out at 150. I'll tell you what two minutes solid pulling something's tall yeah ready all right Eddie mark let's go there you go low come on Eddie I just don't get how these guys pull these sort of Weights in in the Arctic conditions because it's really hard you've got to keep your body warm you've got to be nice and Nimble and when you're cold everything's aching your joints are hurting that's it that's it [Applause] [Music] first time 1147 114 nice that was hard no layoff didn't you uh say that would be easy that was easy was that your comment before that was an easy easy hard for that one okay easy and Hardy you ready I want to be that he really bad with this all right let's go baby we've been Rivals for many years he's kind of the English Golden Boy and I'm the American monster I gotta win this let's go thank you foreign [Music] [Music] let's go here we go Brother come on oh you ready okay Ready Set Go there you go there you go oh working working come on the Viking boat was only 12 000 pounds but we're fighting an incline which meant you couldn't get any momentum going with the thing it was a really hard thing to put come on over come on that's it stay down and try stay down and try it was so heavy and it was so hard it was pulling down on my collarbone in my throat it was hard to breathe and I could feel my heart beating in my head [Music] I almost passed out towards the end come on come on won't happen there's nowhere near 114.16 USA I said typical American just scream and pretend he's won this is the image of a champ it's a paper win a champion I was really happy that I beat Eddie Eddie he's like a fourth grader I didn't do this lovely let's go be give me a nod when you're ready nice Brian [Music] is a giant of the line all he has to do is lean in that boat moves stop it keep stopping Brian Shaw literally ran up the hill come on keep that Rhythm Brian another 4405. 44. wow oh five yes that event is my event I knew I would crush these guys it was never in doubt we ought to give it up to him he may be fat and ugly but he is he is the best puller today I'll take that you can take back the ugly car if the Vikings were pulling boats with me I would by far go down in history as the best Viking bolt puller that ever lived it's the first Viking ship I pulled nice and I'm undefeated in Viking pulling now [Music] how much further do you have to go this is kind of how the Vikings had to do it I wanted to go ice fishing really bad because it's part of what the Vikings do as a straw man you're constantly in the pursuit of protein hey guys knowing that Brian's a really good fisherman I thought it would be right up his alley we're worried about a 440 pound man walking on the ice we've got a solid foot of ice right now you'll be fine I'm just glad you're not here on a cold day yeah we're gonna try to make the best of this but I'm not gonna lie if we don't catch a fish I am not going to be pleased it's literally worth this so just go ahead and grab that drill behind you and we'll have you pop a hole over here in the middle what are the Vikings make the holes with they would have used a spoon type auger go straight up and down straight up and down all right put a little pressure on it and it'll do the work for you okay there you go wow the bowl is cleaned and you're ready like a real Viking that's what I'm talking about thank you for setting us up look at that I was pretty hesitant to come out I mean the walk was miserable yeah I'm not gonna lie though I am really hungry I have to eat every couple hours I get hungry and that very quickly turns into hangry and then I get pissed off if I don't have food one of us better hurry up and catch a fish Nick I'm waiting and I'm getting colder and I'm getting hungrier you'll get with me positive doesn't fill my stomach Brian's starting to make me a little nervous so that I might have went a little too far on this one I never envisioned my death of being crushed in half on a cold Icy Arctic tundra I got one nice thank God I'm really happy about catching a fish [Music] my first fish that's the first fish you've ever caught in your life that's the first fish I've ever caught like legitimately caught that's really cool see me I got you some food wonderful not enough protein you might get two three bites out of that yeah maybe four maybe I never really thought we would catch enough fish to feed me but we were out there forever and I was really hungry I'm not gonna lie Nick is starting to look like dinner all right Nick we've been out here all day I'm out of here I'm done it is definitely time to go home bee bee come on [Music] thank you wow that is really cool looking we can't leave Minnesota without trying the most notorious Viking feet of strength that there is the 1433 pound Mast of Orange strollison one of the largest and most powerful Viking warships of its day the Ormond Lang was built for King Olaf of Norway in the 10th century the ship was nearly 150 feet long and needed 68 rowers to move if you believe the legend 50 men took the Mast of this ship and hoisted it onto the shoulders of a biking Warrior named named strollison the mashed weighed in at 1433 pounds but did it really happen can shoulders really press along that gigantic let's find out Nick what the hell have you gotten us into here well this is the master orange strollopson so what are we doing with it well we're gonna lift it wow but just so that you know it broke his back and it killed him broke his back yeah broke his back it crushed him it broke his back I don't know it just seems like a really stupid thing to do so it's pretty badass but I don't want to be the guy that put this thing up and break my back this is just ridiculous foreign [Music] is obviously a huge Viking back in the day that was tempted to put this log on his back and I didn't want to be the guy who put this thing up and break my back if any of us are able to pick this up it'll be a Monumental Viking record that we're breaking this isn't just a viking record this is going to be a world record pretty crazy for our final challenge this week I wanted to take on a feet of strength that has lasted for over a thousand years okay oh my God this is no joke just looks so intimidating the mask was huge the diameter of the log was crazy you could just tell how heavy it was just by looking at it not even having to touch it could even pick one side up go ahead all right this whole thing that's only technically half the log and not nearly ripped my shoulder out of my socket the log is going to be very difficult because other than the two ropes that are on it there's no real way to stabilize that and those ropes are kind of flimsy and they move around guys if one of us pulls this office is going to be an incredible feat of strength nobody's ever lifted this weight before 1450 pounds forget orms rollerson whoever does this is the man so let's find out come on Robbie let's go big come on the mass was so big it was intense come on come on come on pulling up and just roll ing I put everything into it I brought my back my glutes my legs everything and I just shoved up against that log and The Mask didn't even move I'm gonna give it one more go I think what I'm gonna do is just kind of fold myself over and just take the pain rather than try and lift it up properly just take it all on my back which is exactly what killed the guy that we're talking about let's do it all of it without the dying part tight nice and tight ah it's not going up it's not going up it's good attempt brother that's a good free adjustment right there I have the strongest shoulders in America but in terms of lifting that mass that was virtually meaningless and my neck still hurts from that it's all right man don't beat yourself up too much I'm okay with it because it's a legend for a reason you want to go back to the hotel and cry and cuddle yeah okay let's go let's go right here I still think you can do it B let's get it let's strap it up and make it happen huh everybody thinks Brian's gonna be the guy he's picked up a 1560 pound bell tote and straw man contest and walk 10 feet with it come on me try rocking the tree forward oh come on you got it find it big come on there it is come on go watch it watch it watch it leaving it yeah I think it's ideal if I could take my head off and just lift it right off I was thinking the same thing big head actually screws you in this I think in hindsight it would have been much much better to have a thinner diameter log that was much longer to be able to set it onto your shoulders and not have to move your neck forward so much and have it in such a awkward and dangerous position go Ed come on let's go ahead come on come on tight tight come on in drive your hips I had a massive Creek in my neck I didn't want to lift the log up up up up up wow it's almost done man it's almost there you're all right why I'm seeing Stars whoa I'm all for taking on Legends but I don't want any of us to Die Trying and considering that's what happened to Armstrong I'm really really worried about what's gonna happen one more go I'm gonna call it a day because I don't want to break my back okay all right let's go [Music] oh come on it's almost there man it's almost there you all right wow I'm seeing Stars for our last Viking Challenge I wanted to take on a feat of strength that I've heard about my entire life Lauren strollison lifting up a 1433 pound mast he took three steps and lost his balance and that's what cost him his life it's still an absolute amazing feat of strength one more go I'm gonna get caught a day so I don't want to break my back get yourself get yourself come on come on smooth fine oh all right no wow honestly I gave that everything I can't budget yeah your face was nice purple there were back lifts that are upwards of five thousand pounds but they're very controlled you know they're in a good setup they're in a bench they've got a flat surface the feet and arms are sturdy but that that to me is safe you know you're just pushing the limits but from a balance standpoint there's no way you can get the center of that log even if you weighed both sides [Music] thanks all right Nick you got us out here we're doing the Viking Challenge because you wanted to do it this is your log pick this thing up let's go this is as Viking As It Gets come on go on there one more shot now big breath give it a good good attempt everybody come on get those legs set big breath [Music] [Applause] strongman is not just about strength it's about figuring out how to lift something so awkward that if you make a wrong move it could kill you he's rolling back on me because it's such a huge object if the balance point in the dead center is off at all it'll be almost impossible to get it off and lifted nice and tight nice and tight let's go his head was bent down his shoulder was bent it just seems so dangerous but one more girl Nick and then pull it a day please buddy yourself [Music] I was elated when I got that thing completely off the rig it's hard trying to figure out how to balance that right so I could put all my force in the direction up to where it wouldn't roll down my back how's your back feeling I feel good and shorter I guess the old man still got it I think it's pretty obvious that between the four of us Nick won yeah he fully lifted it off so you got you gotta hand it to him man that was awesome well done yeah well done well done Nick thanks Josh you know what Owen strawlinson did 14 33 pounds well I'm gonna I'm gonna call it here you stood up with 14.50 so in my eyes that's a world record and that makes you a legend Nick vest on straliverson is obviously a huge Viking back in the day but from what I heard it crushed him it broke his back Nick is very lucky he didn't break his neck as far as I'm concerned Nick beat on strollers oh my God you wanna go lie down now [Music] Nick might be a bit annoying but you know what if it wasn't for Nick we wouldn't have come here I felt as though we all gave him a really hard time this week and I thought I'd do something to cheer him up smells like my granddad's house in it it does have that old scent Ben Gay and despair appreciate it we've got a good summon come on the four of us we travel around the world we left heavyweights and for you to pick that up like that that was strong today and it was really well done and we're all impressed you are the reason that we got to come here and have these awesome Viking experiences you know and and uh I I thank you thanks guys I'm really happy I got to do all these cool Viking things it was just amazing little experience it was it turned out really well you've had a tough week you know we've all been hard on you I personally want to thank you we pulled a few strings and we've managed to get you an authentic Viking weapon well this is apparently a genuine Viking tour they would use for splitting school it's a bell art here it is thanks honey no you're welcome buddies it just melted my heart they took the time to actually think about me and it made me feel so good oh man I want a hug without an ax in your pocket Eddie comes off as a disgusting arrogant Englishman but on the inside he's a disgusting arrogant Englishman so we're all gonna get in uh get on the bed and start making out yeah let's get in there get in there hey what's up with the ax season on the strongest man in history find the balance I started going into shock a little bit something up we could be crippled should we really be doing this this is legit an amazing food one wrong movement could result I can literally feel the Flesh in my hands tearing strong men decide to go head to head one of them's gonna get hurt can't breathe [Music] foreign [Music] the legendary Feats of strong men have been celebrated throughout time but just how true are these fabled acts after years of competing as Rivals the four strongest men in the world are teaming up to find out keep going keep going they'll take on Epic piece of strength in a quest to prove who really is the strongest man in history on this episode they're in Toccoa Georgia home of All American strongman Paul Anderson study your chest they'll attempt three of his most difficult stunts find the balance find the balance including lifting 2 700 pounds of people can they beat his records and each other let's find out come on come on Big Pop [Music] [Music] [Music] check this thing out that is freaking cool I'm probably the biggest Paul Anderson fan in the world world's strongest man lifted greatest weight Ever Raised by a human being 6270 pounds so when the producers asked us which great strongman in history would like to go after the first name I thought of was Paul Anderson 1956 Olympic gold medalist super heavyweight you know I'm really impressed about that you read the whole lot I was that was really good Paul Anderson's literally like the Babe Ruth of our sport hey how are you how are you I'm Paul Anderson Schaefer Paul Anderson's daughter he paved the way and I'm not sure the sport would be where it is today if it wasn't for Paul Anderson this this is our backyard this was Dad I hear filming him I can't believe we're actually in Paul Anderson's house this is where he used to train this is where he lived he was born in this house sacred ground I had something I wanted to show you it is from The Ed Sullivan Show cool we're about to take you to the Mapes hotel at Reno Nevada where Paul Anderson will pick up two strong boxes filled with 15 000 silver dollars Paul what is the actual weight well the weight of the silver dollars plus the apparatus is a little over 1100 pounds we have to try that yeah definitely yeah it's so crazy because he did all these amazing things with the movie with the Ed Sullivan Show and he didn't get the publicity that at least we feel in 1957 there were only three television networks today there's over a thousand on top of that you've got YouTube Facebook Instagram The Whole World's at your fingertips for us we could take a picture and post it in like a million people see it yeah I've got a million followers well not a million followers but I mean like a million people I've got a million followers yeah okay how many have you got I think I'm like almost 200 000 200 200 people 200 people rubber over social media it's full of American flags tanks hunting pictures of himself smoking cigars playing the banjo it's pretty pathetic so you think you've got a stronger following I know I've got a stronger following than you you may have more but definitely not stronger do you want to put a wager on this on Instagram on Instagram yeah yeah what do you want to do okay let's make it fair I've got about five times the following you've got so you do five pictures add up all the likes and compare it to my one picture before we leave Georgia we count this up sounds good to me okay so then what do you want to bet the usual oh I don't want to do the usual again we're doing the usual whereas there's no point doing the usual all right you on it's on [Music] thank you oh wow that's way bigger than I thought it was going to be yeah totally for our first challenge we want to investigate the fifteen thousand dollar silver dollar Squad that Paul Anderson did at the Mapes Casino that's exactly what it looked like less than a year after winning a gold medal at the Olympics Paul Anderson performed at the Mapes Casino in Reno Nevada for two weeks the casino offered a prize of fifteen thousand dollars to anyone who could match Paul Anderson's speed of stray but did he really squat 1100 pounds every day let's find out Paul Anderson is a strength Legend So he said it was 1100 pounds which was a crazy amount of weight we actually don't know if it was 1100 pounds so we need to look into that you know what's really cool is they actually they put this together using the measurements this is actually the same size and how wide is this box 23 inches if we were to fill the boxes completely filled with coins what did it come out to 4209 pounds wow there's absolutely no way that thing was all the way full of silver dollars there's no coins in the back you know the back there's this huge space in here that's the fake wall so we knew there must have been a fake wall then for those coins to come all the way to the top so let's try and work out what this is how many coins have we got in this fake wall this was filled with 1800 1800 coins yeah we don't know how many coins exactly the maples Casino put in those boxes but we estimated to be roughly the 1800 coins that were needed to fill up the front windows of the boxes based on our calculations the actual setup that he squatted was 720 pounds I personally think that there's a chance that the casino told Paul Anderson this weighed 1100 pounds he stepped up and just said what they told him yes Paul Anderson supposedly squatted this once maybe twice a day every day for weeks as part of a show but I personally think he's been put on the spot by a casino and the weight's definitely been Amplified I've got the world record and the deadlift at 1102 pounds [Applause] and I did that once and I've never done it since I had blood coming out my eyes my ears my nose I fell unconscious I went blind for 20 minutes it nearly killed me and for Paul to have squatted 1100 pounds almost on a daily basis he would have seriously hurt himself I think that we should all go get warmed up and try to take on this lift and pay him respect anyway yeah let's do that yeah we'll set that come on let's call me boom [Music] come on Brian come on Brian step back go forward a step forward a step all right you're good at that you're good at that put it in put it in put it in picking up the squat setup for the first time was pretty crazy with this big of an apparatus that Flex is just gonna start bouncing it was shaking you guys ready yeah so trying to stay stable was a very hard thing to do yeah come on Brian stay where you are we'll move the Rock with you yes easy yes is that down down replicating that Squad gave me an even higher respect for Paul Anderson because that type of setup in the stage that he would have done it would have been unstable as well and he did that multiple times per day uh for probably weeks on end [Applause] get some get some come on got this let's go oh happy good down set yourself set yourself big breath come on Obi great job awesome man the boxes are so awkward it works a whole core it's so wobbly oh my God it was the hardest squat at that weight I've ever had in my entire life great job oh man I hope Paul Anderson's looking down smiling absolutely I don't know why you made it look so hard Squad itself was a scary setup really was let's go because we had all our weight in the front of the boxes ease into it don't jerk it up good count not clear as soon as you pick it up you were shaking like a dog having [Music] boom [Music] it was just such a scary thing to do it's like squatting during an earthquake yeah this is the way I can describe it let's get this done then come on it's only wait I'm not looking forward to this this is going to be rough come on nice and easy gentle into it come on good good stay where you are find the balance find the balance I've got it come on come on let's go Nick I'm glad you got it [Music] well I'm excited to see what Eddie Hall's gonna do here we're gonna see what happens now when they added another 24 000 pounds by pulling a plane do you like his rhythm and in his body the way it's pretty low here yes I do short powerful choppy steps he's got a nice one going here and Aaron he's going to be successful here [Music] when we were trying to work out the fifteen thousand dollar squat lift that Paul Anderson did Nick went down I lost my balance squatting the coins due to the bar being whippy you all right everything okay yeah I just gotta get these knee wraps off yeah that was probably the shakiest bar I've ever put on my back I couldn't stay stable with it and as I started to squat down I just lost it forwards there was nothing I could do and it just slammed me right down do you want to do it again or no I'm I wouldn't man that scared me bro and honestly I almost hurt myself trying to pick that up off you yeah you don't have anything to prove man yeah they gotta prove it to me it's up to you Nick I want it you want it I want it all right buddy all right I can't believe he's about to do this again that doesn't seem smart to me Focus let's go tight tight step up come on let's go find your feet and don't move them do not move come on let's go come on bro where you need to be Nick let's go good three your weight go oh all right let me get some coming up with that and coming back and getting it was definitely one of the best feelings I ever got in my life I'm really glad I did this I mean I love Paul interested so you do realize that Paul Anderson was 24 years old when he did this lift right and so you are more than double his age which is a feat in itself man yeah that's awesome man well done buddy really really good yeah oh come here bro yeah [Music] I want to beat Eddie man yeah I know I want you to be 82 at six o'clock in the morning Eddie and I made a bet to see who could pick up the most likes on Instagram so I was looking online and the most popular spot in Toccoa for pictures is to call Falls so pretty out here I was thinking you know something funny something different I think we get a picture of you scrubbing my back in the waterfall really all I can say is brokeback fountain [Music] oh I'm hungry as well let's get something to eat yeah let's do uh like 50 Burgers 50 Burgers no bun though wings as well you need chicken wings we do Wings a couple hundred or whatever you got in the back would be perfect it's a snack just small I I don't think people even realize how much food we eat being this size You Gotta Eat about 10 000 calories a day so for me that table looked normal but when I came out I realized it was a great opportunity to take a pick way before you start Nick you got to give me a shot for my Instagram yeah yeah no chance you're not you're not benefiting off at my expense because I'm chipping in with this food take one as we as well Nick well that's I I called it I'm the one who said it first dibs gotta respect dibs bro fine I was quite jealous actually it was a really good photo this is that's what a loser would say I didn't think obis had a chance of beating me in this challenge but now I'm seeing the photos he's doing I'm gonna really have to come up with something great to beat him good shot man thanks y'all want to see where my dad used to work out yes okay come on oh it's a little dungeon huh yes it is coming backwards so keep your head down wow being big is its uh challenge that's hard to identify with for most people and this is going to be interesting always tight cramped hot you know ducking your head through doors or just being stared at by everyone all the time I always feel like I'm in a fishing bowl and people are trying to tap on the glass to see what I'll do you know so Paul Anderson truly must have been five foot nine to be able to train down here because I'm six foot eight and I'm having a duck down just to move around in here today everybody goes to the gym back when Paul Anderson was doing all this there were no gyms these are the ones he used yeah yeah oh my god do you know what those are I have to see those plates that is insane why is it just cause there were Paws or because these are original York deep dish plates probably from around the 1950s also Nick Houston then I actually did used to live with those kind of York plates I'm that old the fact that these were Paul Anderson's and there are very very few of them out there essentially it's Priceless this is Brad excited I collect old-time strength equipment that's like finding a Mickey Mantle rookie card in your basement and not really knowing what you actually have I wanted to show y'all something y'all come have a seat oh my gosh oh my God this is lovely really comfortable all right this is from Russia when he lifted at Gorky Park have you guys ever competed in Russia I don't know I have it was not comfortable as an American 16 000 Russians packed into Gorky Park to watch the Russians Against The Americans Paul Anderson stepped up and had the bar loaded with 402 and a half pounds without expression pushed the weights overhead as if there were toys the young man from Toccoa Georgia had just broken the world record by 22 pounds a fair nice little storyline all right guys you ready to go try this yeah you guys want to come with us yeah we'd love to see we'd love to watch you might need oxygen now for our Second Challenge we're gonna try to replicate Paul Anderson's record-breaking 402 pound overhead press how you guys doing hell of a crowd here it was so cool just to have the Anderson family standing there waiting for us to do this thing Paul lifted it from the deck to his chest and pressed it overhead but that takes a good couple of months of training and we haven't had that training Paul Anderson cleaned and pressed 402 pounds what we're gonna do is similar but we're gonna do a strong man style we took out the clean so we're gonna attempt the Press itself because that's actually what Paul Anderson is known for what we're here to replicate is his press so it's from the shoulders to overhead yeah let's get it done let's do it I'm gonna start warming up while I was warming up my right shoulder is kind of hurting me it just didn't feel right guys I'm going to tell you right now my shoulder's not in loving this I heard it training last week and it just I can barely get my arm up over my head right now you opted out I'm opting out okay I didn't want to get hurt trying so I just kind of bowed out well look since we got the setup we've got 155 pounds on the ball this is a nice warm-up wait why don't we get an average person to do this cameraman we call in the average man just to show you exactly how strong you have to be to do these Feats of Strength I feel like I'm gonna like just kill over backwards if you do don't worry I got my phone I'll call 911 oh thanks I know I've got my iPhone I'll take a video [Laughter] come on you knocked my hat off geez five three three two one one go it's heavy that's how much I weigh so good luck good luck she's in cheers [Music] all right guys we got the bar loaded bars 45 pounds these two big red plates are 55 pounds two greens or 25s we have a black 10 and then on the outside here we have a blue uh five and then the colors on the outside are actually 5.5 pounds which gives us a total of 406 pounds even so we're taking the record up by three and a half pounds so it's a good weight here it's gonna be fun I think we can make it happen let's get it okay oh up shoulders are my specialty I've got the strongest shoulders in America and doing the overhead press following after one of my heroes I'm really excited about this come on [Music] come on big press up [Music] [Applause] I felt really good about the press it was a little emotional for me thanks guys thank you when I saw Paula and I saw the statue I had goosebumps it was one of the greatest moments of my strongman career come on Ed I've lifted 476 pounds up on my head that's the current world record in strongman to point our weight above your head straight the problem here is I haven't lifted anything above 300 pounds above my head in the last year come on come on and then we get to this left and it's 400 pounds let's go in and I'll be honest I don't know if I can do this thing yep [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] lifted 402 pounds above his head we're trying to replicate that but it's been over a year since I've lifted this kind of weight I'm feeling really apprehensive but then I looped around I looked to the Anderson family and I saw their faces waiting in anticipation for me to that lift [Applause] to have Paul's family there watching on I felt as though that I couldn't fail so I had to get really psyched up I got really angry trying to lower my energy into getting that lift done and I'm so glad it did and I'm glad I paid my respect to Paul let's go Brian come on because of my training pressing 402 pounds has now become not that much weight come on bud now it's taken me a long long time to be able to say that because for a long time 402 pounds was a weight that was a goal weight for me yeah Brian is one of the strongest guys that's ever walked this planet and it looks so effortless he really is a phenomenal athlete Apollo will you come up here and take a photo of this the whole family you guys come on come on yeah seriously come up him doing that back in the day with 402 pounds is absolutely incredible come on buddy good let's sneak off in that corner over there all right you got your phone yeah what gets the most likes on Instagram naked girls booty pictures you know sex cells so oh dude if you're gonna do that you need to lean over and stick it out a little farther I feel so exposed right now got to bend over more and stick it out Nick was trying to teach me how to do it you gotta pop you want you want the pop and if you you do the duck lips this is Instagram oh my God I look like I'm constipated you do [Music] ladies first bride squeeze back down here this is this is the real feet before the feet right the other day we saw those original York barbell deep dish plates so today I want to attempt to gold standard of pinch grip strength these are 45 pounds apiece so total 90 pounds and the grip strength feet with these is to match them up face to face so smooth side out match them up like that yep and then squeeze them hard enough to lift them with one hand there have only been five men in history that have accomplished this feat with one hand more people have been on the moon than lifted these places literally that's a difficulty level before I try it first just to gauge it you know give him some more idea how tough it is give it a good squeeze not a full lift but you broke it off yeah that's awesome I'm not trying that again you could use this is your record man I don't want it I didn't quite do it so now I was interested to see if Brian can do this okay Brian you ready we're in Paul Anderson's basement you've got two 1950s 45 pound York plates yeah only five people on the planet have done this and you're on time buddy [Music] I thought that would actually be harder to see Brian do that feat of strength it wasn't a shock to me at all it left a good measure you know just another day in life of Ryan I'll have another guy but then when Brian did it it put the fire in me to go back and try again [Music] nice I honestly can't believe I did that that list counts thanks buddy Brian became the Sixth Man to pick up these plates and then I became the seventh so that's history now that's neat you know me and Brian have become a part of a small little family in the grip World which I was super pumped about dude that was I'm happy with that that was sick seriously yeah all right so this is the idea I think what we do I do a lot of uh cigar shots so I got I got some cigars oh cool for my final Instagram picture I had to go back to Paula's house when I saw Paul's Cadillac I was honestly a little bit jealous that guy had some Style I want to get the emblem in it but I think it's gonna be kind of tricky it's a big beautiful Cadillac with that emblem on the front you know I wish I would have thought of that are you ready taking them do I look strong and pretty I don't know try to get one for the front I figured what's cooler than a big giant Cadillac with Paul Anderson on it and a cigar let's see these are good that's good all right I like it all right quit swiping I got I got naked photos of me on here man oh I want to see that I'll send them to you later no [Music] hi you okay yeah Morgan nice to see you nice to see you okay the Instagram bet that me and Robert have got going on after I've got something really nice planned I met two girls at the gym yesterday they were quite good looking I persuaded them to meet me at the park today at 11 A.M so how do you want to set this up so I'm going to get the same pose of Paul Anderson gotcha with the bar and obviously girls instead of Weights now I think this is going to win people over all right here we go ready one two three up people like to see pretty ladies people like to see muscles and they also like to see a legacy as well you ready bro all right you're good [Music] well Brian move around all right we got it right okay nice and slow no no no stance good job good job that's fine but it's gonna be really tough to be over I've seen a couple of the photos that Opus has put out so far and to be honest they're pretty good let's have a look at it all right that's posted let me just refresh it make sure it's already got 200 likes I'm not even kidding that's awesome oh this is going to be so screwed [Applause] that looks great huh for our final challenge we wanted to take on the carousel left that Paul Anderson did on The Ed Sullivan Show oh that's awesome in 1957 Paul Anderson appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show lifting up 18 celebrity guests on a human Carousel these Hollywood stars along with the apparatus collectively weighed in at 2 700 pounds how did Paul lift more than twice the weight of a grizzly bear and will our strong men be hip to this challenge let's find out who's up first uh me let's get it brother all right start warming up here I'm so honored that Paul Anderson's family came to watch us do the carousel lift this piece of equipment which is almost exactly like the apparatus Paul used is for 485 pounds empty oh good grief nice little warm-up for you yeah because everybody warms up to 500 pounds right a hip lift is exactly what you would think it is it's putting a belt around your hips having a weight connected between your legs and then using mainly the muscles in your legs and hips to lift the weight up off the ground this is all going to come down to leg strength so strength through the quads hamstrings glutes hips that's really what's going to be needed to lift this thing up oh one down okay so it's it's pretty important guys to be safe with this I did this in Australia probably six seven years ago and it cracked my L4 vertebrae in two spots and cracked my L5 and one I've shrunk it an inch and a half well thank you for that information just before we're about to lift it my concerns with the lift is getting the balance correct if we mess something up we could be crippled when you do a big lift like this you don't start at the max you gotta warm up so good that you've got to let your central nervous system fire the proper way oh yeah you're four or five inches off the ground down so you do lighter weights and you build up to the maximal lift how do you feel yeah it feels good all right so we want to get Paul's family out here we don't have any seat belts for this ride sorry you all right Mama I'm all right this is Paul Anderson's grandson and son-in-law so why don't we go Edward on that side for sure and then we'll add Paul on this side in order to replicate Paul Anderson's lift we need to add enough people to equal 2 700 pounds we need Caleb Tate Caden and Luke we actually weighed everyone in attendance before we started the carousel lift and then wrote their names down on a list guys weigh 640 pounds we're not going to lose weights although you all could probably eat a little bit more so that we could pick people out based on their body weight all right guys so here's what we got we need to find two young men that are are fairly balanced in weight so we've got one that's 242 pounds one that's 234 so that'll give us 476 pounds it's been too much yeah but 159 plus 242 would be exactly 2715 pounds it's unbalanced though it'd be fine no I'd rather go the heavier weight 80 pounds heavier and balanced or 80 pounds less unbalanced it won't feel unbalanced though it's so heavy you won't feel it I think no matter what weight you put on that Carousel there's always going to be a risk factor to hurting yourself could I have the heavier guy on that side and the lighter guy here and I think as long as the balance was somewhat equal which it was then we've done the best we can so can we all Shuffle everyone six inches to your left it's not safe to move people around once we have the balance six inches to your left I do not want to get hurt and once the balance is set you don't mess with that balance I'm a little concerned about the carousel challenge it's something I've never done before come on Robbie nice and tight scobers so going up that I was worried [Music] ah no you okay I felt a pop in my back oh dude ah I'm not good man oh you okay I felt the popping my back oh dude all right give me a second just give me a second I could feel a little bit of a slide on the Belt but what was happening was my spine was moving popped twice and that was it are you tapping out yeah you all right that's it good job baby sometimes we make things look easy but you gotta understand it's a ton of weight we're picking up human bodies both my legs went numb yeah my body just said no to put that in perspective that is over a ton that you had strapped to your waist it felt like it yeah let's go Ed let's go Eddie in your own time tight good [Music] I felt a big pop in my butt then genuinely yeah Big Pop I warned Eddie not to shuffle the people because we had the perfect balance and Eddie didn't listen Just Breathe oh my God I did hurt myself I think either way it would have happened anyway it was just the sheer weight that really hurt me okay I'm not admitting to have been wrong come on then Brian let's go B let's go [Music] I'm actually really concerned both Annie and Robert just got hurt you never know what's gonna happen when you're lifting that kind of weight I don't even know if I should be doing this [Music] please [Applause] that's a lot of pressure through the hips it's a ghost I feel like if I go heavier than that I'm now risking a big injury so I'm gonna tap out I'm gonna let Nick do what he wants to do I'd rather go the heavier weight yeah yeah you do have the world record in this type of lift so I think you're the man to beat I think you should go for it all right all right so why don't we do this Nick will can you step up please will swap William for well but will good draw for William perfect good trade that'll give us a grand total of 2 791 pounds 91 pounds over what Paul Aniston did on The Ed Sullivan Show you ready for this yeah let's do this for Paul let's get it I'm feeling pretty excited about the challenge now because we got the balance right it's safe let's go Nick so I can put all my focus right into that one moment and pop it off the ground let's go Nick come on Nick down and up let's go get it done get it done [Music] [Applause] I don't want to spoil anyone's phone number but that one didn't leave the ground I'm pretty sure I did it that definitely didn't leave the ground huh all right now we're gonna ask him and do it again if you want to be respectful to Paul that never broke the floor what do you call BS on my list saying that I didn't get the sight off the ground I put everything I had into that and it just sent me over the edge let's go Nick get it done that's it all the way yeah there you go yep there was no way I was getting off that Carousel without doing it and showing everybody I had it they always count me out but at the end of the day I'm the one that lifted more than Paul Anderson the oldest man didn't you guys have a Instagram bet to settle yeah yes we do indeed are you guys ready to find out what the usual is right so the deal was the loser has to drink from the other person's shoe a shoe full of water you guys ready tally you want to tie out yours first okay I'll go first I'll count them for you okay and my first picture we're at 11 924. I cannot wait to watch Eddie drink out of my shoe and then this third pitcher 18 829 I've been working out with no socks for the last week just waiting for this uh What's the total the total of your five photos is 72 515 likes it's pretty good for me I'm I'm happy with that all right let's see what you got total for my picture that's 86 500 and eight lights wow oh dear brutal are you ready for this let's do it oh my God you know literally I've been wearing the same socks for a week I want you to taste me God those reek matters whenever you're ready buddy you know that warm saliva you get before you throw up yeah I've already got it oh my God I bet the color of the water is going to come out like gray horrible come on baby get it done honestly watching Robert urbas drink water at my shoe is the best thing I've ever done in my life oh my God better than Breaking the world's deadlift record yeah there was little bits in it which I'm hoping were shoe but more than likely we're part of Eddie's foot that was disgusting yeah I know [Music] foreign [Music] the four strongest men in the world are in the wild west of Cody Wyoming home of Buffalo Bill and William bankier a strong man who performed with him Nick they'll take on some of venkir's most outrageous challenges there it is including racing down Main Street well carrying a 600 pound piano let's go let's go can they match his Frontier power come on right there yet keep going keep going let's go baby [Music] the legendary Feats of strong men have been celebrated throughout time but just how true are these fabled acts world's strongest man after years of competing as Rivals the four strongest men in the world are teaming up to find out they'll take on Epic Feats of Strength in a quest to prove who really is the strongest man in history here we are ladies What's this called Hotel Irma this is Buffalo Bill's original Hotel Buffalo Bill what a name I've got a great week planned out for the boys I'm a huge fan of the old west so I figured I'd bring them out to Cody Wyoming to take on lafitte's strength of William bankier at 17 he ended up right here in Cody Wyoming where he worked with Buffalo Bill and the Rough Riders it was one of the most famous strong men of that era and would even put out challenges to other strong men to prove that he was the best why do we always get to cold places what what snowing I can't control the weather bro I'm from the UK it's always cold and rainy but it's always sort of t-shirt wherever if you know what I mean and to come to Cody and be like minus whatever it is oh man I just I hate being cold afternoon sir I'm functional how you like Wyoming weather a little cold we've got a reservation under Robert Oberst you got three rooms you just need a signature here on the bottom no we uh we ordered four rooms according to my computer I've got three rooms one of them's got two beds in it that's all that's left in the hotel there's people in every room you have in every room but those three this one has a single all right I'll call this one has a single this one has a dog I'll grab that one is there any other hotels right around here we're one of the few hotels that stays open all year rooming with Eddie or Robert I would rather go sleep in the street you guys are set have a good evening two it's like a little Museum as well isn't it yeah it's pretty cool yeah this is Old West man right should we dumped the bags and hit the town yeah shotgun what is this place Buffalo Bill center of the West baby I wanted to bring the guys along to the Buffalo Bill center of the West so they can see what William bankier was actually up to when he was with the Rough Riders so what exactly did Buffalo Bill do what were his acts and stuff we got this one right here Annie Oakley she's probably the most famous she was wicked with a gun they would go town to town and like Annie Oakley she'd like put a can over there and have your dad put an apple on his head and like pop pop you know that kind of stuff it was William bankier a part of that yeah so he was part of their act William bankier only spent two or three months in Buffalo Bill's show back in 1887 eventually he ended up back in Scotland where he had refined his act and was known as Apollo the Scottish Hercules there's nothing in here on William Banky no I really think William Bankers should have an exhibit in here he was an amazing athlete not just a strong man he was a boxer he was an acrobat he was a wrestler I mean the guy was amazing and gets no credit for the things that he did where's the respect in that why doesn't strongman ever get the recognition that's that's a real bull Buster that's honestly one of the biggest reasons we're here he should be here okay let's teach you a little bit about cowboying just a little bit yeah I'm enjoying that part you're not Cowboy I am I am from Texas I shoot guns for fun like how much more Cowboy can you get than that b and I have bucked hey we've helped take care of animals we've castrated a steer I'm from Las Vegas Nevada is literally old Wild West as old Wild West gets I'm extremely Cowboy these three you just think you missed a cowboy all of a sudden Eddie's the furthest thing from a cowboy he really knows nothing when it comes to the wild west so this is the perfect opportunity for us to show them what it's all about they say if you smell this right here it's seven years good luck seven years seven years that's what the Cowboys do mmm I can feel the luckiness entering me when William bankier first arrived in North America he worked his way across the country as a farm hand so we wanted to check out a local Ranch to see if we could get a feel for his first Feats of Strength all right boys got a set up here with William bankier's famous one-armed plow lift we have plows right here that are from the same time period as a team William bankier was famous for doing a plow lift with one arm he actually wrote about taking on other strongmen in the area and none of them being able to do it at only 12 years old William bankier ran away from his home in Scotland he survived the Shipwreck off the coast of Canada and made his way across the country working as a farmhand without any weights to train on bankier did the next best thing he lifted farm equipment can our strongmen match his earliest feet of strength let's find out he didn't have weights to lift then so this is how he would train so the legend goes he would take it with one arm from the ground up and over his head so you think 130 pound dumbbell all of us are pretty accustomed to lifting 130 pound dumbbell right William Banker was only five foot six at 175 pounds I'm six foot eight almost 450 pounds so Kim lifting a 130 pound plow with one arm from the ground overhead is actually very impressive so do you have any idea how he actually lifted it with one arm I have no clue just looking at it right now you could tell it's going to be awkward and my best guess is that somewhere right here is where you're going to want to grab it but I mean this this is I'm telling you guys about it this is the first time I'm trying it too so I don't know this one looks like it'd be easier to grip that one's pretty Sharp put it back down no two hands at all William Banker never touched it with the second hand which that's honestly what makes it such a crazy feat of strength yeah because two hands we've handled this lifting 130 pound dumbbell it's not that hard for any of us because it's very compact but when you get a hold of plow and you got to do it with one hand two lines fail the weights spread all over the place and you got to balance this thing that's huge this is more using your brain than your Brawn but you've got to grip it in the right place so the bounce is right get it up there we go there we go come on Nick get under it there we are nice and close as tight as you can right there right there yes it's right there come on yeah look there we go the balance on that thing is not easy but as soon as you figure out how to pick it up in the right position there you go that wasn't that hard the plows were pretty impressive for a little kid straight upy nice but not for the four strongest men in the world that feels a little bit too easy I feel like moving a hay bale would be a lot more impressive than lifting this little toy plow well you're a farm boy how much do they weigh my best guess would be that the bigger ones are around a thousand pounds give or take the snow and moisture that might be in them you guys want to see if we can move these hay bales around a little bit let's have a good let's see it let's do it for time flip that one fastest time wins we came out here to compete so we had thousand pound hay bales right there why not see who can flip them the closest event in world's strongest man that we would have to flipping over a hay bale would be flipping over a tire a tire is a very solid piece of rubber so flipping a hay bale will be a lot harder why did we get the average man out and see if he can do it first average man the average man always gives a hundred percent effort and he doesn't quit easily let's see what you got average man well I grew up on a farm too so you know you did yeah oh so you you flipped tables before no but we carried bins or grapes it was a grape Farm a Vineyard no you hadn't saw it here all right yeah holy man push through and up through it here we go foreign maybe if you get a running start we need a break at the end of the day he's 155 pounds the hay bale was a thousand pounds and there's no way he's gonna flip that thing over we know you tore your hamstring I wouldn't call you a coward if you bowed out I know you only got one leg Yeah about a week ago I was in a really big Strongman Competition called the Arnold Classic I was attempting to deadlift a thousand and 51 pounds and my hamstring tore since then you know my leg went completely black and blue and it's made it not only difficult for me to compete but also just to move you want to give it a go I can't be out here on this Ranch and you guys are all having fun and I'm not I'm not going to participate if I can't compete in anything it is a little bit embarrassing for me I'm ultra competitive with everybody I want to be all the guys yeah you called me the farm boy and not do this that's exactly it give it a lead Let's Get It Come on B let's see what we can do come on me normally flipping over a hay bale that's a thousand pounds wouldn't be a very challenging task for me come on but now that my hamstring is torn I really don't know how this is gonna go ah Robert Ober schematically earned his spot in the last qualifying event the head-to-head winner take all Atlas Stone Showdown [Applause] uh ah I was trying to flip over a hay bale that's a thousand pounds and immediately I can feel my leg tightening up come on come on come on you got it I couldn't use my full power because of my hamstring injury so I really just dug deep you got it all right oh that's pretty badass good job buddy oh yeah I was able to work through it able to flip the hay bale over which actually made me really happy what's up oh that wasn't fun all right Nick come on let's get this one come on man I'll give it a ride I am very competitive and it's a lot of fun to go head to head with one of your friends and get after one another come on there you are it's right there it is it's right there [Applause] you got to push into this thing but it's really squishy there's no real solid point to push on it and I'm a short guy and the hype is an extreme advantage in this because the longer lever you have to push up the easier it is nice come on Nick there it is that's it one on window there you go finish it get it done yeah yeah there we go Nick pushed over that hay bale really slowly I'm pretty confident I can do it quicker than he can it's up next you oh okay there you go it wasn't a matter of just pushing it over the straw was very bendy and flexible so we're pushing it and then it was sort of fighting his back [Music] me and Brian have gone back and forth in strongman domination in the last 10 years if you can beat Brian Shaw that makes you the top dog because Brian Shaw is the best of the best right now and throughout my whole life no matter who it is I've always got to be the best get my knee under doing sort of lever it over yeah [Music] well done well done that was pretty odd I'm probably gonna eat it's because I wore the worst shoes possible for us thank you there you go oh man boom that's how it's done I got a little worked up for nothing oh man it's quite frustrating watching obis win things and when there's something you can beat me on I can just see that cheesy grin come across his face and it really wraps me up I must say I think that one was heavier than yours I think you just made it look heavy definitely [Music] all right we've got a table for eight hey thank you thank you I've always been tall and big my entire life and I can't walk through my life without having people watch me luckily I don't like being normal and I love being really really big can I get two of the ribeye rare can I get two pepper crusted sirloin alfredos yeah with double meat and throw on a ribs and brisket combo too can I have a Wood-Fired rib eye medium done I'm gonna do two of the uh 12 ounce Wood Fired Ribeyes throwing a Diet Coke my favorite thing to eat is steak it just provides more nutritional content I really try to stick with stuff that's going to fuel my body adequately right these steaks look good well I think we should have a competition to see if we can eat the steak the quickest 12 ounce you're for that I'm up for it steak rice steak rice being this size You Gotta Eat about 10 000 calories a day it makes it a lot easier if you make a game out of it loser buys dinner fair enough are you ready Nick's on the clock you're free to one go [Music] where the hell did you really eat that that fast well he literally ate an entire steak in 90 seconds I was just absolutely amazed at it and horrified ladies ladies it wasn't that bad honestly I think I could have ate it faster uh uh that's done excuse me oh Brian's done came over Nick you still aren't even close to finishing your wife's gonna be so pissed off I know I'm more afraid of that than anything my wife when she sees that bill she's gonna lose it and I can tell you one thing for sure it's gonna incentivize me to win the next Food Challenge how you doing man awesome man you want to do a picture real quick yeah let's do it awesome buddy [Music] there we go [Music] pretty freaking annoying I actually lost that I can usually eat steak pretty quick losers come up with excuses [Music] foreign that's nice man they got Decked Out heated water it's really good have you seen NYX mix is carved out of stone was it wrote on diesel we all use CPAP machines it's nothing unhealthy it's nothing we can help it's just something that I have to use to go to sleep it's literally a machine that pumps atmospheric Air Forces a little bit of pressure into your nose keeps you breathing through the night so you get a good night's sleep as the bigger guy it's something we need do you think every single strongman has a CPAP machine oh yeah at least everybody a World's Strongest Man once you get to a certain weight it's too much on your chest you know whether that's muscle or fat just basically you have Airway blockage yeah we're at a high elevation and for what we do breathing is extremely important I started off strong this week and I need to get a good night's sleep for all the upcoming challenges if I didn't have the CPAP I'd probably be a lot less of an athlete I would start every day at a huge disadvantage time foreign used to perform for audiences all across the West so for our Second Challenge we invited the people of Cody Wyoming to come out to the Irma Hotel so we could follow in his footsteps we were in Buffalo Bill's Old Saloon where honestly William bankier probably stood are we ladies and gentlemen has anyone heard of Buffalo Bill obviously it's not the most famous thing here right has anyone heard of William bankier that's why we're here exactly that's why we're here today we're actually going to look into William Bankers 475 pound sack lift in one of bankier's most famous acts he would offer 40 to anyone who could carry a bag he said weighed 475 pounds after audience members would try and fail bankier would take a bow by carrying it off stage himself but did it really weigh that much our strong men aren't sure I don't think it's a stress for us to challenge the number right we know he had something heavy you know he did it in front of a crowd just 475 is probably a stretch yeah the heaviest bag we've ever competed with is 330 pounds and that would be to pick up and carry and load William Baker wasn't that big of a guy it's very very outlandish to think that he actually picked up and carried a 475 pound sack and especially a sack like this with as much play as in there it would be almost impossible for somebody to pick that up you need something packed a lot tighter like one of these bags right um that would be a lot more feasible to lift in the 1890s you'd have to have a bag kind of this size this material I mean I don't know if it hold picking it up probably there the companies that make our bags today are making them out of Kevlar they're quadruple stitched they're bulletproof and to make it small and compact enough that he could actually lift it I just don't see how that could happen I'm saying 475 is fake you don't see what the average man can do that sounds good I'm Richmond he's here there he is the bug that William bankier would have used was so big it was like picking up a jellyfish and that could really leave your biceps exposed pull you back quite easily So based on that we decided to lift modern day sandbags basically to protect ourselves do you think it's possible for you to eat my lab maybe yeah off the ground is big and your lap is bigger I'll give it a go but roll it onto your feet yep good call roll it onto your feet oh [Music] we know that the 475 pound bag was a big exaggeration so that's why we only went for the 400 pound bag holy crap my quads are burning so ladies and gentlemen William Banky like to challenge the audience so I would like to see if anybody in the audience could come and lift this 400 pound bag is there any volunteers any volunteer you want to try it come on this guy's got the best shirt in the Club come on yeah the death weight there you go crazy okay I can't get my hands under the bag now you get in good spot there you go good no matter what it weighed William Banky was still the only man in that room that could pick that sack up and walk it off the stage and that was the feat of strap all right guys let's start with the first one and get warmed up yeah we use smaller socks to warm up before we get to the big lift because we prefer not to tear the muscle off of our bones it's quite painful 300 pounds it's like the same pound as your age [Music] when you drive a car you turn it on you let the motor warm up and let all the parts get oil on them and stuff like that well your body's the same way you got to warm up nice nice carrying 400 pounds especially on your stomach is very difficult to do you have to have endurance you have to have Speed and Agility all at the same time do you guys want to try the 400 yeah yeah is everyone ready good to hear because I'm not some bags is something that I've always been quite scared of at world's strongest man come on come on Eddie and the four to picking up this 400 pound bag it really runs shivers down my spine it's really dangerous come on Ed come on come on [Applause] just slipping down the top that's a good fight that's right yeah I have seen so many people detach biceps hurt the backs and I don't want to be one of those guys I like my biceps the way they are big and massive Brian are you out of this because of your hamstring yeah guys I did a contest called the Arnold Classic and my hamstring uh tour so I'm gonna have to be a cheerleader today so I'm sorry but uh I was extremely disappointed that I couldn't participate because that is actually one of my best events I actually hold the world record for the heaviest Atlas Stone ever lifted at 560 pounds so if you're up mix up good luck buddy we're in the Irma there's a ton of people in there [Music] and I watch Eddie not get the 400 pound bag and I'm thinking I better get this bag up because I don't know if Robbie's gonna be able to do it or not come on [Applause] we are in danger are looking like idiots [Applause] [Music] [Applause] thank you picking up a 400 pound bag is very difficult to do it's really close yeah I think I can get it I'll try it again got around it and it's sitting right on my belly and kind of started to lose my balance a little bit and I just ran out of gas and Let It Go let's go Nick [Music] [Applause] come on man come on Nick thank you [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I was really pumped when I was able to pick that bag up and go knowing that we are not gonna look like idiots in this place I was jacked come on [Applause] come on Irby get up hold on come on when you're out there you're really vulnerable I'm basically burying myself in front of a bunch of people I don't know and I'm showing whether I'm strong enough I'm exposed I literally had surgery on my bicep just a couple months ago so I'm worried about that popping off again [Applause] [Music] come on come on y'all ready or what you'll be quiet [Music] [Applause] but when you pushed yourself and you didn't know you could do something and all these people get to see you elevate yourself there's this euphoric feeling where you feel untouchable and then I stopped being mean and I become a Showman you don't really get an opportunity to do this very often made my night just oh so good [Applause] [Music] fire feels great it's probably had to be one of the best parts of being a cowboy love a campfire Love of You William bankier was an amazing man he was an acrobat he was an author and he ran away from home at 12 and he had to survive random fact uh William bankier actually brought Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to the UK get out really crazy he was a boxer and a wrestler too this guy's literally the most interesting man in the world the only way he could feed himself and take care of himself was working on a farm so you got to be strong to do that kind of work one of the biggest things that's kind of bugged me about this week is everybody knows Buffalo Bill everybody knows Annie Oakley they know a bunch of the Rough Riders and not one person's known William bankier strongman doesn't get the recognition it deserves even now that is true yeah I mean everyone knows who Eddie all is but I mean who's Brian Shaw I think you know I was doing this and traveling the world and searching these Feats of Strength and these Legends it's it's bringing it to light that's what I'm enjoying most about this is bringing it to the attention of the masses you know what's funny is that William bankier is from the UK he moved to North America tried to work and fit in I can kind of relate to that because I've come here to proved that I'm still one of the strong longest man on the planet imagine doing that as a teenager it's incredible so obers what was William Baker's most famous feet of strength he had a guy playing a piano on his tomb of Hercules where he was in that reverse crab position that was basically just putting weight on top of his skeletal system yeah it wasn't like he lifted it or did anything like that he just kind of supported it so the guy was actually playing the piano yeah yeah it was a show that's kind of cool yeah it was all sitting on top of it yeah I don't think any of us would be able to get in that position Old straw man were very thin they were very flexible they could get into that position and their joints and skeletal structure could support the weight we can't get into that position the cool part is is we can actually lift that weight though I mean if that's what he did we can't do that so what what can we do that's something similar to that what would be cool is we get some old time pianos we strap them on our backs and we have a race we actually lift the weight and then we race of course Robert wants to put a piano on a box he's got the strongest shoulders in America he's trying to create a challenge that he can win you cannot say I don't know how safe it is but we set ourselves up with a start and finish line and see who crosses first my concerns are the safety of the event how we are going to get it balanced that's a lot of pressure to lift that kind of weight so boys we came out to be Cowboys you want to have some beans hell yeah it's time yeah I'm sure I had a room with you so I want some beans yeah no make sure you get it from the bottom so it's all beans not just juice it gets a nice big piece of bacon oh there we go these are so hot so hot this is hotter than lava actually changed very good all I know is you guys gonna have a really smelly room tonight [Music] for our final challenge this week we're taking on William Baker's famous piano lift so we all know that William Banker was famous for doing the tomb of Hercules with the piano and the orchestra the tumor Hercules it's a supportive lift he's not actually lifting it it's sitting on his knees and on his elbows and the position he was in none of us can get into it's like Kryptonite to a modern day straw man we're too big instead of doing that I thought we'd take it a step up we'd pick these pianos up and race with them in the 1890s William bankier returned to Scotland using the Showmanship that he learned from Buffalo Bill he changed his name to Apollo the Scottish Hercules and took the United Kingdom by storm putting on some huge performances of his own his most famous feat of strength supporting a piano while it was being played but supporting weight doesn't require moving any muscles actually lifting the weight is a much harder thing to do can our strong men scale it up a notch by carrying pianos on their backs we're about to find out all the guts are still in them [Music] and so they're all rigged up at over 600 pounds foreign that's why everybody came out honestly we don't even get that many people to come out to a lot of the World's Strongest Man events there must have been two or three thousand people there lining the entire Street and the energy they gave off was awesome Brian we know you're on one leg now we got you one just in case but we figured probably not gonna be able to do it yeah I tried to warm up this morning and um it's just not ready I am actually really unhappy that I cannot compete in this piano race because of the hamstring I mean I'm pretty good at Yokes or carries I hold the world record in the super yolk so I know that I could smoke these guys at this but I think I'm gonna have to be referee to make sure you guys don't cheat of course so you guys are going to get warmed up first here on this yolk the race needs to be over a set distance so we'll uh have a starting line end line and it's just whoever can get there the fastest so we'll have a good view behind me watch them across the line oh man wow okay suited and booted yeah strong winter like sprinters you would never see a sprinter just get out of bed and Run 100 meters as fast as you can you've got to warm up you've got to warm the muscles up get some blood in the biceps the forearms the lower back you've got to gradually wake your muscles up to be able to prepare yourself to lift a big weight look at that try to loosen up my hips I already crushed these guys in both the sack Challenge and the hay bale slip if I win this race it'll be like winning the strong man Triple Crown I bowed out the sock brace I didn't do that well on the hay bale challenge Roberts brought us out to Cody Wyoming he's won every single challenge so far I can't lose to this guy [Applause] there's a huge difference between supporting weight and lifting weight and there's even bigger difference between lifting that weight and running with it [Applause] when we were setting up the piano room we saw this ambulance pull in and that's when I thought should we really be doing this I'm the oldest one I'm kind of the OG of the whole thing and I've never carried a piano before but I think I can smoke these guys athletes take your position [Music] ready [Music] go [Applause] come on guys come on keep going let's go over his catch up this is crazy it's a ton of weight and we're at a high elevation there's not much breathing with that piano on your back come on when you have a piano on your back you're not really worried about what the other guys are doing you just want to get to that finish line as quick as possible the amounts of weight and force on my chest was phenomenal I just kept running until somebody said stop hello after I won the race I felt really restricted I couldn't breathe get me off at no point did Ico burst or Nick at the side of me which meant they were behind where they should be keep going keep going I see Eddie win and in my mind I was like man you should just put this down that would be the smart thing to do right now let's go over let's finish it let's go buddy but for the sake of William bankier and the history of strongman I was finishing that race and I'm done come on Dick come on Nick you can do it ladies and Gentlemen let's get behind Mr Nick Bess let's hop and finish this race [Applause] come on buddy [Applause] can't breathe let him out let's get him out of them everybody [Applause] can't breathe let him out let's get him out of work let him out Friday belly Breeze after Robert and Eddie finish the race all the attention went to Nick because he was patting a serious medical issue we didn't know what was wrong with him if you can do in through your nose and after your mouth it'll control oh my God I mean to me it looked like Nick just completely lost his breath but with his age could have even been a heart attack it was tight on my chest I couldn't get a full longer hair your muscles are probably all no I'm gonna finish that was a serious situation for Nick when your heart's beating that fast and you can't collect yourself that's dangerous good job you too man I don't know how to do that let me take a hit of that I want to finish can I get started back in no no we're done we're done done time's up I was a little worried about Nick but when I heard him keep trying to fight people off so we could finish the race I knew he was going to be okay the thing was like just so tight across here I just felt like I couldn't inhale and get oxygen into my lungs it's the first time I've ever lifted anything where I actually started to panic because I couldn't breathe and that scared the Daylights out of me today's winner of the piano race Eddie Hall I feel like we've done William bankier Justice getting the pianos on her back having a race down the street it was really nice to give a little treat to the town today all the kids and everybody we entertained and that's what we love to do [Applause] [Music] you guys this has been one of the best weeks I think we've done yeah it has yeah it's been pretty awesome man look at this View doesn't get much better than that Eddie you killed the piano yeah I know [Laughter] it was fun man I had a blast William Banker being a Scotsman I figured we'd have a toast to his memory with a little Scotch it was an absolute pleasure I fell in love with this guy this week man everything that he's done everything that he's done for our sport I hope that we could do a little bit to bring his name more to the people and kind of shine a little light on them and so from four strong men to another this one's for you William learning about William bank here and you know how interesting his life was overall was really neat one of the things that I actually feel really passionate about having one world Strongest Man four times myself is being able to introduce strong men of the past to the world because they didn't get the Creditor recognition that they absolutely deserved back in the day you ready finder next strong man yeah let's do it actually guys there's one more thing I want to do before we leave what's that burn this piano and after that event I had to get all the anger all the hatred I had for that piano out of my head all right here we go [Music] kids don't do this at home all right I'm pretty glad you're burning that piano too man this thing was murderous to carry how would you know it nearly murdered him that's why yeah I thought I was gonna die for a minute watching that piano burn was very therapeutic never seen a piano burn before this one's for you William all right guys now I'm ready to go find the next straw man sounds like a plan buddy all right it genuinely brings love to my heart knowing that we're growing the sport of strongman and maybe one day in the future someone will be doing an episode on me hey Ed you want to share a room again next time [Music] on this episode four strongest men in the world are in England home of the Beatles Queen Elizabeth and a mischievous 18th century strong man named Thomas Topham they'll attempt three of his most famous crowd-pleasing feasts it's freaking hard including his legendary shoulder lift of barrels weighing over half a ton gotta be honest guys I've seen Stars after that you know strong men live up to topham's jolly good strength or will they simply be gutted me [Music] some get some the legendary Feats of strong men have been celebrated throughout time but just how true are these fabled acts the World's Strongest Man after years of competing as Rivals the four strongest men in the world are teaming up to find out they'll take on Epic beats of strength in a quest to prove who really is thank you the strongest man in history [Music] I gotta say this might be one of the only times I've been in the UK and actually had to squint because the sun was out it's nice huh yeah it is subtle very subtle yeah I'm from a town called Stoke-on-Trent in England and for once the guys are actually coming from America to where I am oh hey hello plan for this week is to show them a fantastic time take them to places they've never been before show them lots of culture and introduce these guys doing a legendary British strong man called Thomas topper I was the journey though all right it was horrible this airplane has two exit doors in the front and two window exits over the wings in the event of an emergency family flights four flights two trains and a bus now you know I feel every time I come over to the U.S so it's even Steven it's a cute license plate that you have do you have one that says world's strongest man I know no not just one two three four yeah yeah I think the most impressive thing was that he could count four winning the World's Strongest Man is a big deal so I don't blame him at all I've had light personalized license plates in the past as well my last one said three-time world strongest man so I had to get rid of that when I won my fourth because I didn't pick you open the Mustang guys cool come on guys it's not that small it's a good thing I've been stretching excuse me yeah we're good we'll start it off Churchill style cigars eh which one's got the firecracker in it exactly but what's the plan for this week all the legends that we've done so far Thomas Topham is my favorite he's British he owned a pub called the Red Lion in London and as part of like the ACT to get business there you do these Feats of Strength he lifted up 1336 pounds of barrels full of beer or whiskey I think it's pretty cool that he used his feet to strength to advertise for his business one of probably original guys doing is come watch me lift the stuff and drink a beer Thomas Topham is like the first modern strong man he would perform feeds of strength in front of audiences decades before anybody else did that sort of thing Thomas Topham lived in the 1700s he was five foot ten and 196 pounds the son of a carpenter he often combined craftsmanship with a basic knowledge of physics for his astounding Feats of Strength creating large-scale spectacles for London crowds you know what made him so great to me he was an absolute prankster there was a proper English bastard anything that you shouldn't be doing he did if you wanted to upset someone he did it something you shouldn't say he said it he inspired me to be the person I am today this guy upset so many people he's basically the 1700s version of me out of all the strong man in history Thomas toppen who was a British Troublemaker is your favorite does that not just sound like me in modern day everybody's got to have a role model yeah that's not the only legendary strongman we're going to be doing uh tax on well who are we gonna do Eddie Hall this week we're not just taking on an honorary strongman of History we're also taking on me well I want to test you guys for challenges the stuff that I'm good at and see if you can enter the honorary Hall of Fame honorary honorary Hall and what are the challenges this is a series of challenges about me it's about your attitude about the way you present yourselves so you're serious at the end of this there's gonna be a prize the best prize known to man why do I feel like we're gonna do some weird stuff for that yeah I'm pretty sure this is just one big long punch line he's waiting to drop on us but if we're going to be competitive I want to win okay they're trying all right good little guys right guys the first Thomas Tottenham Challenge and my favorite picked up a watchtower with a policeman in it walked it 0.3 of a mile and threw it over a wall into a cemetery Not only was this guy strong an Entertainer he was a prankster so for a first challenge we're going to take on Thomas topham's most famous print starting in the 13th century Watchmen patrolled the Streets of London to keep crime at Bay according to Legend Thomas Topham spotted a Watchman dozing off in his Sentry box he picked up the entire booth and carried it a third of a mile before throwing it over the wall of a cemetery gennar strongmen pull off this superhuman prank let's find out [Music] I'm franster contract so wherever I go people follow when the hood they were doing the challenges they all turned up my friends my family complete strangers even if I didn't want them to turn up they would we've had these built we've got policemen in them they're about 280 pounds you're saying these are 280 pounds and we're going to carry them 0.3 miles yeah a strong man we kind of do what's called explosive training we explode and then we recuperate for us to take something and carry it 0.3 miles that's something none of us is used to none of us has ever done 0.3 of a mile just down to the bottom of that road take a left through the archway right down to the bottom you'll see a canal turn left just before the canal and there's a row of fences there that we're going to throw them over and that will be the graveyard and how big was Thomas toppen 510 I think it was about 180 pounds five ten One Eighty I don't care if it's a policeman a Watchman or Batman there's no way he picked that up carried it 0.3 miles and then dumped it over a grave maybe it started out he carried at 10 or 20 feet and then it was a hundred feet and then all of a sudden it's like oh he carried it well three of a mile now this is a little bit hard to believe that he went that far with this Watchtower without waking up the Watchmen let's uh get the average man and see what he can do with it average man good idea we like to have an average man there of average size and average weight to give scale to what it is that we are doing I'm five foot eight 150 155 pounds you're not much smaller than Thomas Topham he was two inches taller and another 20 30 pounds yeah directly you could pick this up uh pick it up walk it down the street he's probably gonna fall towards me oh my goodness oh boy there you go I can't pick it up okay no way I can't pick it up well thanks Ian you've been great that didn't really help me much in figuring out right everyone in front of the towers facing forward right Lord May whenever you're ready now that we're on his home turf I guess Eddie gets to have home court advantage but I really seriously want to beat him at this [Music] ready steady [Music] my strategy was just to grab it and go as fast as I could I'm gonna try and tilt It Forward grab a hold of the top and have it on my back as I go when I put this thing up and got it on my back first thing that hurt was my arms holding this thing in place was absolutely excruciatingly painful couldn't really carry it the way I wanted to so I started to drag it and I just felt if I kept dragging it good and steady the other guys are going to wear out and I'll just keep moving right on by Brian took off like a bat out of Health but he ran out of gas and no matter what the prize is I want to beat Brian I didn't want to Sprint with it because I didn't want to fall on my face so I just took my time nice steady steps and the plan was just to go slow and steady the toy toys wins the race I was annoyed I was trying to hurry up because if you lose the Eddy you hear about it foreign [Applause] [Applause] strong man Thomas Topham carried at the Watchtower three tenths of a mile and threw it over a fence we got to reenact that feat of strength that he did hey I was trying to hurry up because if you lose the Eddy you hear about it forever oh geez my lungs were on fire but I wanted to make sure I was successful with it oh geez laughs [Music] I thought was though there was a lot of pressure on myself to win this event we're in Stoke on Trent where I was born and bred and all my fans and family were there I had to Win It my lower back was shot I look up and here's Eddie he just finishes so I can't win the challenge but still that Meathead mentality in me I just don't want to give up ever no look [Music] Ryan was like Godzilla rampaging through Tokyo it's hilarious [Music] in the end I was happy I just finished what's happened to yours it was nothing but anger at the finish line that got me to get it across had moved I would move it felt pretty good to throw that thing honestly come on me it's fair to say that my Watchmen would have definitely woken up finish it [Music] but by throwing him forward and having him land on the bricks I would have effectively put him back to sleep [Music] [Applause] funny I think Brian lost his temper of his Tower absolutely smashed the policeman to Smithereens but fair play he got it done my stomach's cramping my back's Dead all I know it's the only one that's still asleep is the one that Brian killed watching you walk around that corner with a body into your arm and a shed in the other it's probably one of the most memorable memorable things I'll ever remember to move to my grave that is Hall worthy no it's good well done guys I think we got to give it up and winner Eddie the Beast yeah I'm hungry let's get something to eat so guys this is Castle Oak cakes this is my favorite place to eat you recognize the guy on the wall I've been going to Castle Oak cakes my entire life and then I started going to world's strongest man these guys just decided to name a note cake after me the Beast so tell us what an oat cake is an oat cake is basically a pancake but made out of oatmeal they do a very old special which is two bacon two sausage double portion of cheese and tomatoes I roll it up like a pancake and just eat away but we've got the orders then I want to go sit outside to bring out to us how you doing gentlemen oh God hope you enjoy thanks man thank you no problem right guys here's the deal this is the Beast oat cake okay the first one to finish this is the winner so are you ready let's go okay Mark's get set go I really want to beat Brian in this eating challenge I don't like losing and Brian of course is probably the biggest guy and he's used to eating the most amount of food so to beat him it's fun to kind of like needle at him you know the whole rest of the day poking at him it's beat him in an eating challenge oh my God that sausage is so good Brian's just eating it like a burrito I'm sure Brian's picking up an octopus the bottom [Music] Brian's shoving it down his throat it was impressive how are you doing Irby I'm not doing good man I'm so stuffed already oh my god oh that was a real gag I was gagging I couldn't be in that space anymore because I felt my my saliva started to get warm like right before you throw up oh oh I got the meat sweats for the oat cakes I was excited at first but then it's got like six freaking sausages in there four and a half pounds of cheese all I can see is just my stomach killing me for days oh my God honestly I still feel a little gaggy about it right now I'm done I'm really disappointing with you you're usually the guy that eats everything I don't know if I'm gonna be able to finish this come on Nick you're not far off me I think you got this Nick bro you're not gonna beat me get it Nick I'm feeling like I'm gonna barf yeah I'm fairly good at eating challenges but by the end of that thing I felt so sick I had to quit I seriously can't believe you're actually gonna eat it oh my gosh Brian I consider that done well done buddy Round of Applause for Brian you won the challenge I feel like I'm gonna puke you kind of look like you're gonna puke whoa almost reaction literally who wants dessert oh [Music] here it is guys so guys welcome to the green coat boy this is my mate's Pub Thomas toppen was famous for doing ax and pups he owned a pub today we're going to replicate one of Thomas Hopkins beats of strength Thomas Topham owns several pubs around London and kept his customers entertained with strong man parlor tricks one of his famous Feats was that he could roll up a seven pound pewter plate as if it were a piece of paper but our pewter plates any match for the strong men of today can their hands of Steel take on a stronger medal let's find out so these are the pizza plates from the 1700s I'm a feel of that it's kind of got a bit of weight to it doesn't it yeah so Nick when you were a kid what was it like to eat off a plates like that yeah I'm not quite that old so what is pewter I don't know so pewter is a mix of metals I think it's tin and lead so they were eating off of a plate made out of lead yeah I mean nowadays we know that's wrong and we know you can get lead poisoning from doing that but they didn't know any better but then wow so Thomas Topman was most famous for Rolling these up like a pancake and nobody else could do it we want you to replicate what Thomas tuppin did go on Nick [Music] I mean Thomas Tottenham would do this as a bar Trek you know for his patrons end of the day he owned the poor he was a businessman and he'd do stuff like this to bring people in and buy more beer you can hear it crunching all right okay so I kind of knew that the Peter plates were going to be really easy to roll up so I want to up the ante a little bit and this is part of the Thomas Topham challenge I bought something for you guys to roll up a bit more modern day a bit thicker a bit stronger you ready for this frying pans now I'm famous rolling up frying patterns I did it on a on a breakfast show here in the UK a while back and it went viral so I think we should make a little competition out of this who can roll it up the Finish of course Eddie's gonna make us do a string challenge that he can win if I can beat Eddie Hall at his own game of rolling up a frying pan I'll seriously leave England feeling like a king give me some space guys come on back it up [Music] all right you ready it's not a race it's about who can get it the tightest remember that right off you go [Music] so the main trick to roll in a frying pan is you could be fast with it it's going to bend faster and easier it's gonna be tough to get this rolled up like those pewter plates once you get to the silver part it's freaking hard I kind of made a mistake because I tried to roll both sides of the pan and then roll the pan up I mean it was my first pan so you can make mistakes you learn won't happen again oh let's go [Music] oh well you done yeah like speed you don't yeah it's right oh so I think to make this fair I'm going to measure around the middle of the pattern around the circumference of the middle not the end not the start that makes it fair for everybody okay should we start with our burst just for a laugh right oh burst not a bad effort buddy 15 and a half inches my first time that's not bad right in the middle you happy with that yeah right ten just a spec over 10 and a half let's say 10.6 inches yeah Brian Shaw right 10.2 inches okay right so Brian got 10.2 so in order for me to win this I've got to beat 10.2 inches okay you ready okay my measurement is [Applause] okay [Music] right so Brian got 10.2 so in order for me to win this I've got to beat 10.2 inches because you ready okay my measurement is [Music] [Applause] so I'm afraid the winner is myself oh that's a that's a shocker get a good drink there tastes like Victory being as competitive as I am really wanted to be Eddie at that just kind of rub it in his face a little bit so I was disappointed that I didn't get mine rolled up tighter I mean obviously guys what I've proved here today is to do these Feats of Strength you've got to be British I'd rather not do them then so Thomas Topham it's a Thomas [Music] this is probably the fastest way to travel in the UK I'm from Stoke-on-Trent but Thomas Topham was actually from London so I decided to take these guys down to London to do these Feats of Strength where Thomas Topham would have actually done these things if you don't grab a table we'll be stuck in horrible suits oh that's that's comfy there we are really good it's gonna be a good ride yeah get get cozy I've never been on trains before this trip I'm quickly realizing they suck I get to play footsies of bread in the whole way yeah snuggling and watch if we unlock our arms it'll be better it's much more room can you pull your foot back no just a little bit no nah really comfortable [Music] so guys welcome to London so uh is this the London Bridge no I think actual London Bridge was packed up in Center Arizona hey that's Westminster Abbey over there the minister of Abby lives over there yeah it's a minister of Abby's sounds like a pretty important position yeah it definitely is Big button's right there can you not recognize it it's it's kind of under construction right now I'm sorry 100 what I've always wanted to meet Big Ben face to face be like hey Big Ben I'm Big Rob it's a London people ready yeah cool thank you thank you cheers a strongman is absolutely bigger sport in England than it is in the United States as a result Eddie here is pretty much one of the most famous people in England the great thing is a lot of people here know who all of us are so it's it's a lot of fun walk around here oh yeah we got to get a photo in this phone booth right here a little bit all right I'll go here okay all right man get in there wait when Eddie wanted us to come to England I told him it was under one condition we had to go to Abbey Road Abbey Road I'm so excited to be here I've wanted to do this since I was a kid right guys this is the famous Abbey Road where the Beatles cross the road and pause for a picture do you remember the famous cover on the album yeah yeah so that's what we're here for today we're going to do a strong man style that's why we bought the kegs here there's four of us just like there were four beetles and we're on weird kind of super group you ready let's go around the middle yes nailed it yes hey guys thanks for coming out appreciate it so Thomas topping back in 1741 so we had this built and we lifted 1336 pounds in these barrels wow this is actually built off a sketch somebody was here there's no cameras back then but somebody actually sketched this drew it whilst he was doing the lift well it's almost identical it's pretty cool that is crazy today we're going to do Thomas toppen's most famous feat of strength Thomas Topham used his Feats of Strength to promote his taverns he drew huge crowds to witness his spectacles and that meant selling a lot more beer on the 28th of May in 1741 he used his shoulders to lift three giant barrels of water weighing a total of 1336 pounds get our strong men shoulder this load let's find out I mean Thomas Topman was probably the greatest British strong man of History had a huge crowd it was a bunch of the Apple Tree Inn Pub that he owned obviously that shut down now so we've got the tallest Pub in London Thomas Topman decided to set up this feat of strength in front of a huge crowd to get more punters into his Pub I can only imagine how much attention he would have got to doing something like this back in the day because look at the attention we're getting yeah having the band around your neck it's so dangerous with a bed back so we had it built into a bar just so you can keep your back straight and end of the day I don't want to break my back the closest thing that we have in strongman to this barrel lift is a super yolk the load is across your shoulders and you feel it through your entire body it's much harder to lift the weight off the ground when the load is going through your core we're here to beat Thomas Tobin's feet of strength here it's all it's gonna it's gonna be a challenge for all of us man I think honestly the barrels actually have to be empty because they're antiques but what we are doing is adding extra weights to the bottom which is the way that we're gonna get over 1336 pounds you've got all the weights here [Music] and we'll just keep adding these on until we get to 1336 pounds we're going to work our way up to 1336 pounds to match Thomas tottenham's weight and then we've got to beat the legend any of you guys go to Heights well I mean Brian's already that tall anyway the articles on Thomas toppen's feet of strength clearly state that he lifted this up several inches so I mean what's several inches you know [Music] you set yourself up that was a stupid question to you [Applause] come on lifting several inches doesn't look like that much but every millimeter is like lifting a whole building yeah let's go big [Music] I've carried extremely heavy super yolks in the past so I don't think there's any way these guys are going to touch me on this yes [Applause] Story come on [Applause] I think it's time to break a record what do you say [Applause] organize that all right guys so we're at 13 45 this is officially breaks Thomas topham's record with no sign without even thinking about it your spine can literally snap you could just tear a ligament tear a tendon you could rip a rib off these are the kind of Weights where people get really hurt [Music] s [Applause] I think it's time to break a record what do you say you're in the UK taking on a legendary British strongman called Thomas topper he lifted 1336 pounds of weight and water and Barrels in front of the huge crowd [Applause] thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] nice well done gotta be honest guys I'm seeing Stars after that but I'm bowing out of that bye bye the yolklift is not my strength I beat the Thomas Tottenham Legend so I left it there and let those guys carry on [Music] in moments like that everything just stops and it's just basically between you and the iron Gods at that point it's the most religious experience you can have [Music] [Applause] [Music] it [Applause] was hard but it was doable it meant a lot to me to break this record but I was done that was awesome man that was awesome shoot down it [Applause] should light it for the beer than the left [Applause] I get it after Eddie and Robert had dropped out I wanted to keep going because I felt really comfortable with this lift and I knew it was very strong and I actually wasn't sure Nick was going to be able to physically lift more weight I think you could do quite a bit more I think I got a little in tank you want all the auntie and we go like 1500 how about that okay you know what I want to do is I want to figure out a way to strap a couple barrels on the sides is what I'd like to do make it even bigger even bigger bigger Nick how are you feeling like what do you guys think I mean [Music] I think me and Opus realized that we were never going to beat Brian at this sort of event but I think Nick has got a very competitive streak in him he doesn't like losing things [Applause] foreign [Applause] [Music] guys why don't we just go 1700. oh [Music] I know he's the biggest and I know he's probably the greatest but I still don't want to lose to him and I will still go till I can't go to try to beat him make it 1670 bang on all right [Applause] [Music] final proper impressed with that hurt that is quite incredible Nick had the idea that he could win and Brian decided he wasn't going to back down when two strong men decide to go head-to-head one of them's gonna get hurt so we could go 1808 what does that sound like let's load them up [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Applause] there was absolutely no way that I was going to lose this event what do you want to do 2000 has got to be 2 000. when you have over 2 000 pounds on your back all it takes is one tiny little mishap and you're done you can spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair Nick you're gonna do that or what [Applause] is the deal at that point I think I started going into shock a little bit and I was really kind of shaky and I was extremely emotional come on [Applause] I just felt like an atom bomb that was about to explode [Applause] come on [Applause] [Applause] [Music] so we did the Thomas Topman left at 1345 I was happy to leave it there and then Nick and Brian went off on this absolutely stupid little competition between the two of them to see who could lift the most weight [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] I can feel my hands I can feel everything feel your feet come on bye you're hurting my upper back went yeah heard some cracks and I got to the top and I heard a bunch of cracks and pops and I was done I was worried very very badly but I was willing to do whatever it took to win that event are you powering out I'm out so that means all you have to do is add anything get it and you win so what what's the lowest jump 27 27 pounds let's do it let's add 27 pounds guys after all these lists even adding a small jump is a lot let's go [Applause] let's go Brian [Applause] [Music] job [Applause] [Music] ladies and gents your winner Brian Shaw [Applause] this challenge was much more difficult than bending frying pans or carrying a stupid Watchtower so it's fair to say after my performance in the barrels that I have not only won the week but I have conquered England even though Prime won The Net basketball than anybody right now seriously well come on man it wasn't about beating the weight or the number that's there it was about pushing myself further than I ever had before but to be the best you have to be able to beat the best and Brian's the best now I'm done so guys I've had an absolutely amazing week once I think this has been my favorite legendary strongman by far Thomas Topham there's one more thing we've got a saddle as well we all forgotten about the honorary Hall of Fame all right and here comes the punchline it's very special for me that these guys made the effort and came all the way here so I wanted to design something really special something that showcases the Beast and something they can take home and know they'll be a part of the honorary whole family so it's been really tough for me to pick a winner but I think it's got to be Nick mainly because he put his heart and soul on the line today he pushed Brian to the absolute limit he was willing to break his back that's horism right there what Brian did for that barrel lift and was an amazing feat of strength but I've never seen another competitor literally go to the point where they break themselves pass out I mean that's what I'm sort of renowned for so to see Nick do that that my friends is what it means to be an honorary Hall so this prize is actually something that I designed Nick you want to do is the honors oh no way oh that is cool that is the representation of the Beast my logo is the Beast the gorilla the big Silverback that's basically me holding an Apple Store hey well you crying you actually cried no are you sure I can see tears it was awesome getting the trophy for being an honorary Hall that's a moment I will probably never forget I really appreciate you bringing us down here educating us on Thomas Topham I learned a lot I've really grown to respect this man Thomas Topham [Music] foreign [Music]
