[Music] oh hey everyone well some of that music let's go sing a little more cheery going on shall we ah that's a little better well before starting off I just want to say thank you so much as of making this video I'm over a thousand subscribers and I'm approaching 1500 I've literally read every comment that's been posted so far the vast majority are just as encouraging and positive as can be so I just want to say a huge fan key to everyone quite a few people have asked for shoutouts for their birthdays on the like though unfortunately I can't do that for everyone so if it's your birthday today happy birthday and to you and to everyone else thanks for watching underlap right so onto the big topic is Chara evil or was she to begin with even this all stems from my wife Azrael never died video where I implied she'll probably take over his body and force him to ruin everything if the pair's too existed in the same body I just wanted for a little twist on the end of the video and sorry I've caused such a masturbate hopefully we can clear things up a little this time [Music] first things first who is Chara or Cara a popular theory is that she's a real character of the game and so therefore you pronounce her name Cara not Chara I'm going to stick with charas it sounds a little better to me and what she really is isn't completely confirmed some of you might not even have any idea who I'm talking about she's only referenced a few times near the very end of the game and only on the genocide path do you actually meet her let's start from the very beginning a long time ago monsters were sealed underground they had no contact with the surface until one day a human childhood fell down they were discovered by Prince Azrael dreamer the son of Tywin our school the two soon became inseparable friends this human was Chara as from his parents adopted them and cheated them just as well as they treated their son one day the pair attempted to bake butterscotch pie from their father like toriel might however they made a terrible mistake by accidentally using butter cups rather than butter as the recipe demanded and asked who fell ill for a time it was through this mistake that they discovered the poisonous quality of butter cups the two desperately wanted to reach the surface they formed the plan which Arad poisoned herself allowing Azrael to take her soul with Nexen through the barrier while on the surface Azrael with Charlie's soul within him was collect six souls so they could break the barrier and free everyone however this is when things went wrong Azrael is always quite a mix child and when you Crosse humans as he held Chavez body in his arms he couldn't find the determination to fight them as a result they assumed that he was responsible for the death of the child he was carrying they attacked him leaving him horribly wounded being managed to escape back to the underground there poor Azrael died and his ashes fell on the earth where a golden flower bloomed so Chara and Azrael were dead right that's all there is to it not quite Azrael also managed to teach how his body with him back through the barrier so it would seem she was placed within a coffin beneath new home at least according to this line of dialogue from flower oh right so the file that bloom was injected with determination and though it now has a zeros memories it lacks a soul resulting in the character we all know as flower when you explore as goes basement you also find coffins containing what seems to be the bodies of six humans one of these is Chara though she's not she in her coffin I should probably point out that Chara isn't always called Chara in fact she's the character you named at the start of the game this or a reason for this is Toby just trying to subvert your expectations while there's plenty of interpretations I'm not too big on those if you go in the genocide path you supposedly reawaken her she begins to talk for your character ergo frisk and you get some insights into her personality apparently she's disappointed by the lack of chocolate in our school's fridge after brutally murdering everyone you finally get some fun Chara face to face where she reveals everything sort of she explains that it was your actions that reincarnated her and that everything you've done has been yourself and not her this pie is quite ambiguous there's no getting around that though the implication appears to be that the game is insisting that you're responsible for your own actions til ascend it's not really clear what's happening here though I'm willing to propose several possibilities firstly this really is Chara and she's just gone back up from the dead we know that she despises humanity and well she may as well despise everyone else that's why after completing the genocide path when restarting you can never really enjoy a truly happy end as from that point onwards you're possessed by her if you complete a true pacifist run after erasing the world you discover that frisk is still polluted with evil and it's heavily implied that you go on to kill all monsters and maybe even all humans though the question is whether Chara is truly involved in any of that and this is where things get long convoluted the entity you encounter at the end of the genocide path appears to be nothing more than the embodiment of the players stats we know that these stats are innately evil things as they stand for such as level of violence and execution points as sons explains the little girl that Azrael once considered to be his best friend doesn't appear to have much to do of this but what do I know this lying thing for sure was happening here one way or another though I don't believe that this is truly the Chara that was once as Rios friend it could be a twisted version of them resurrected through the evil of the player or it could just be a reflection of the players morality I could go on and on but let's keep going it's worth noting that after completing a pacifist run and returning to see Azrael in the ruins he mentions that Chara wasn't really the best of friends and that he wishes that he had a friends like you frisk all along though that doesn't immediately implicate her as the source of all evil as we know that she was a seemingly very depressed and miserable person so it's no wonder that she didn't try to make herself all that likable so that's how it seems to be Chara was an unhappy child who sadly died in her attempt to escape the underground with Azrael what you meet at the end of the genocide one is clearly sunk far more than that though why exactly isn't clear all we know is that calls itself Chara so Chara was was a human child and she isn't evil or is she it depends on how you look at it she's only as evil which she considered as God to be as she was prepared to help Ezra will collect six human souls for their plan yes it was fully justified in good reason but it does still involve the deaths of six potential innocents I think it's highly debatable how morally good's committing an acts like that is and it's certainly something toriel wouldn't agree with alright so that's my take on Chara maybe I completely missed something again and there will be another war in the comments I do agree that what happened in the very end of my Azrael video probably wouldn't have happened and that Chara likely isn't truly responsible for the events of the genocide path she was such a depressed and angry girl with a tragic end the only ones responsible for the genocide part for those who choose to go on it and why would you do that all monsters are loveable right I can't see why anyone would commit to the evil route but you know I had to to make this video and now reading what flowey has to say you know it seems pretty relatable you're right guys Chara isn't evil but as for me I'm pretty sick of seeing the same things over and over so just this time let's kill everyone Oh well I can't pretend that wasn't cathartic sorry I just needed to let off some steam also I was trying to be clever and make a point there's the player who chooses to be evil and all that oh you probably got eyes going for
