Who is Lumalee from the Mario Bros. Movie?

so my Donkey Kong video is taking longer than expected so let's do a fun one let's do a short off the cuff origin Oracle so mine are spoilage for the Super Mario Brothers movie but there's this Luma character named lumali it's this little blue Luma that has this nihilistic personality and really doesn't care about the impending doom and death that awaits them when they're in the the clutches of Bowser right so I'm sure that this character is going to be very popular amongst fans who watch this movie but I want to give a little bit of background on this little thing because I've already spoken about Rosalina you guys should definitely watch that video If you haven't it gives some information on the Loomis as a whole but let's start from the top Lumas were revealed in Super Mario Galaxy there are these tiny baby star things that essentially mature into planets galaxies and that's pretty much their purpose in life they need to mature and become these things and I think that the movie is kind of going off of that right because if you play the games Mario can run around and feed these little things Star Bits And they may transform into Galaxies for him to explore or either items that he can collect or even like small planets that he explore like kind of like as a bonus or these optional side stages if I remember correctly so lumily in particular is introduced as a shop so Mario can purchase items so if you want like a mushroom or a one-up life you can get it by feeding its Star Bits which are Collectibles within the game so you run around collecting all these Star Bits And they eat all of these and they can transform into these uh these celestial bodies or whatever but lumalis are a little bit more simple they can be found mostly in a ton of the galaxies and they're basically there to serve you to bolster your your defenses before you reach a big enemy or something like that so that's where we see Luma Leaf first introduced it has this really cute quote that always stuck with me for how long welcome to the Loma shop I always thought that was clever I don't know why that is where the name comes from and uh we see it in both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. so if you think about this a little bit though all of these other lumens are transforming into maybe galaxies or stars or Pathways to other galaxies but lumalis in particular are selling items that they're gonna transform into AKA like the mushroom or a one-up shroom that ends up in Mario's stomach just think about that for a second all right maybe don't think about it too long because it's pretty dark but in the movie lumili is voiced by the daughter of the co-director Michael jelinek her name is Juliet jelenik and she provided the voice talent for lumily and I think it turned out really nice so the whole idea of lumily welcoming death comes from the whole idea of Lumas having this bigger purpose in the grand scheme of the universe to become comets and planets they seek to mature into that form and that's Rosalina's purpose on her Observatory she's mothering these little star kids until they are big enough to become actual planets and galaxies and the cycle of life will continue as she mothers them so the movie takes this to a whole nother level and has this baby Luma or this lumily welcome death because that is their purpose at the end of the day like they are just little star children that are eventually going to become something else I just find it pretty hilarious that they picked the Virgin that becomes an item that will end up in Mario's stomach and while it looks like a cash cow for merchandise because there's already Happy Meal toys with this thing I actually find this to be an interesting hint that Rosalina exists somewhere in this new Mario universe and this is not a video that's gonna go deep dive into any uh Mario material because um I will get there I just want to wait for you know more people to watch the movie and maybe a digital release or something but there is implications here that you know Rosalina will be addressed at some point which is what I took from the appearance of this Luma the existence of Lumas are pretty much synonymous with Rosalina um and I'm hoping that they go down that route and explore it a little bit more so there's not much to talk about with this thing I just thought you know a lot of people would be interested in this character seems to be getting popular online and the movies just this humongous hit right now over as of this video over 500 million dollars in the box office so I hope this serves as a decent consolation as I continue to work on Donkey Kong but I will see you guys next time be safe the prophet as spoken
