Who is April Wilkerson? Maker and DIY as a Job

Maybe it wasn't that I was so sick of my job  it's just that I fell in love with making and it changed me Finding a passion in life is life  changing and I found it very early on and the second I took on my first  project it lighted something up inside me and I've been chasing it ever since You wanna do this? Yeah, my path is intense because I am  intense. I get focused in on things and whenever I'm happy and enjoying myself  I just want to dedicate all my time   to that thing and it doesn't matter if it's  hard or if it's easy, I want to keep going and I'm not patient. If I want something  then I want to start immediately and so when I discovered building, I was  like this is it, let's go. And I went. My name is April Wilkerson. I live in the Hill  Country of Texas. My occupation is kind of hard   to classify, I'm a maker, DIY enthusiast, I  run a YouTube channel where I make tutorials now I've done a TV show. I'm  kind of into a lot of things. So right now it's January of 2021, it's winter  if there is such a thing in Texas that means   that most of the days are in the 60s, sometimes  the 70s, but we do have occasional 30 or 40s It was three years ago this time that I  built my shop so you can very much build   this time a year in Texas but it's definitely  long sleeves, long pants kind of weather Day to day. It's so hard to describe-  my job is very difficult because   the simplest root of it is I  like to say I'm a woodworker,   maker, maybe a carpenter. It kind of depends  on who I'm talking to how I formulate my answer I build stuff. At the end of the day, I build  stuff. And since I first started building stuff, I   then tacked onto my job of making tutorials  and sharing information on how I build stuff and now I've also created a YouTube  channel, and Instagram account,   a website, and so I guess you can  also classify me as a content creator. In this video I'm going to get started on  building a horizontal board on board fence and in this video I'm gonna show you how  to make three different jigs to use on it alright today I'm going to be talking about the   difference between gas and  battery powered chainsaws I'm a born and bred Texas girl. I was born in   Corpus Christ Texas which is  on the Southern Gulf of Texas and then whenever I was 19, I moved up to Fort  Worth, I lived there for 12 years and then I've   been in the Hill County ever since then which  is central Texas so I've always been in Texas and I always see myself  remaining permanently in Texas as a kid, no, I never picked up my  first tool until January of 2013 So as a kid I wasn’t remotely interested in anything shop related, tool relatedOr building related but as a kid I was into twirling actually for the first decade of my life and then I switched over to tennis
