[Music] [Music] who needs therapy nathan this is going to be a fun high performance episode so what do you got there i got a brand new can-am this is the maverick x3 max x rs turbo rr mine's not as complicated mine is a ram trx it's the fastest truck i've ever driven well we got to compare them both of them are extreme machines so how about we do a drag race in the dirt yeah a loop in the dirt yes and also pavement drag race oh that sounds perfect we're kind of comparing these two today but we're not really comparing them right no we're just having a lot of fun but we're using the trx as a benchmark because it is one of the baddest off-road vehicles currently being made and it's definitely one of the fastest yeah but when it comes to off-roading side-by-sides and this major turbo rr is where it's at indeed nathan and said the trx [Music] doing drag race in the dirt because life is awesome i'm all buckled in all right let's line it up and uh prepare for some serious battle oh the game is on i got four wheel drive front active differential maximum traction i'm really curious about this machine because everybody at the studio is saying it's one of the fastest side-by-sides from a factory they've ever seen yes well it's the most powerful side-by-side period from the factory that you can buy at the dealership that's what the rr means and this engine is amazing it's 900 cc so it's 0.9 liters right 195 horsepower mind boggling dude that's like over 215 horsepower per liter that is impressive it's a three cylinder engine it's intercooled it's a rotax engine rotax you know they're pretty popular very famous in not just side by sides but atvs boats personal watercraft everything all right what about what's is it a cvt in this or is it something else yeah it is a cvt still a continuously variable transmission okay and i'm kind of curious you know i haven't really put this to the test yet so this will be a good one okay that was really close but i think you got me the way this thing takes off on dirt is pretty unreal yeah i think that's the fastest side by side from the factory i've ever seen [Music] here we go in the first drag race i kind of had you i think you are having trouble with traction huh well one of the problems is in that track mode with sport mode actually it does kill traction control and so i wasn't sure exactly how much rpm you know i should give it to not break free but i can tell you that they're so closely matched even though this has check it out 6.2 liter hemi v8 supercharged 702 horsepower 650 pound-feet of torque 8-speed automatic transmission really beefed up and the thing about this powertrain is that the supercharger i believe is actually larger in displacement than your whole engine dude that's way larger 2380cc is your supercharger i've got 900cc i mean i just said something but then again this dedicates like over 70 horsepower just to turn that supercharger so it's really cool power to weight is a very different thing between the two of them but in terms of numbers i think they're going to be really close well do you want to go again oh yeah we got a better start than he did that time i think i got you just by nose [Music] how big are these tires they're massive these are 30s and they're also staggered so they're fatter in the rear and kind of narrow up front that's like me but guys this video you do i gotta say andre this suspension looks absolutely epic it's beefy tell me about it well it's actually coming out of the body work of this maverick x3 but dude it was forged in the fires of uh king of the hammers dude this is a very capable machine it's long travel suspension 72 inches wide these are two and a half inch diameter fox shocks fully adjustable in the front in the rear dude they're 3.0 inch um and get this 22 inches of wheel travel oh that's a little bit more than mine how much do you have uh it's between 13 and 14 inches dude yeah if you want suspension travel this is the way to do it so let's see exactly what we can do on this little course that i set up [Music] i'm about to launch into outer space here are the controls i'm using in the maverick x3 first of all drive modes there's a little button right here and it can go between eco and sport i'm always in sport of course here you have two wheel drive four wheel drive and then smart front differential locker and of course trail active and trail and these are controls for to telling the brain of this machine exactly what to do or actually what the driver wants and then it knows what to do because it has sensors of the wheel speed wheel motion etc to actually calculate the perfect amount of front locker engagement and to get maximum performance coming up so [Music] 45.03 i have no idea what time i just got i just know that my this machine is way more capable than i am dude so i gotta say i'm not a professional off-road racer by any means uh there's a lot more speed left in this maverick x3 i was just it was incredibly smooth my brain wasn't calculating correctly so what shocks do you have well these are bilsteins and it is an adjustable suspension system that you can do from inside the cab which is really nice not having to get out and get dirty and all that to mess around and i gotta say that in almost every mode that i've been in it's actually done something really different you know sometimes they have those things where they adjust and you don't feel the difference you really feel the difference with this well actually these two machines are actually very similar they both have really giant computer brains yeah right you have active shocks right there they are um can m also active uh offers active shocks they're not on this machine okay but they have smart shocks as well so actually both machines are very very similar and the brain and the can-am also is calculating the front differential lock-ups clutches all that stuff the brain in this is like letting me heat my seat and my steering wheel and play really good music not having to wear a helmet having good filtration but you know what the big difference is what yours look like a stadium truck in terms of the way the suspension was working this one feels like a stadium truck because it's basically almost this all right baja mode i think it's the best mode for this jump to start i'm actually using the paddle shift just once in my life i designed this course this is imi motorsports check them out using the link below i've been here many many weekends running a dirt bike and yeah they have a playground here but this track has a big whoop in the in the very beginning it tests the bottom out of the suspension then a high speed turn and a couple more jumps small small jumps not huge there's so much power here this part's difficult but awesome that was fun wow he was really going for it here's the time i have no idea what time uh if that's a good time or a bad time let's compare right now i'm glad these seats are my big american butt was hitting it hard [Music] [Music] how did the trx do well according to my trigger finger uh you did the lap in 49 seconds 0.83 i'm not surprised what is that faster or slow i have no idea yours did it in 45.03 for almost five seconds faster yeah yeah and i can tell you one of the reasons why because one i got to the first bump and i hit the bump stops and i thought to myself oh it's only around 90 000 for this truck maybe it's a really bad idea for me to be as stupid as i normally am so i did ease back a little bit but honestly you weren't even pushing this thing 50 no and the first bump i didn't even feel it i just flew over it i saw i saw and it really ticked me off because it's like no but see that's where the big trade-off is this is specifically built to do exactly what you just did all right dude so on paper they're very close on zero to sixties yeah well let's put them on pavement i hate to do that but let's see what how fast they are that's gonna be super close oh i have no idea what's gonna happen i do mine's gonna sound amazing and mine is going to be very fast that's the problem all right so four wheel drive high gear okay ready holy cow 4.78 hey dude i don't know if i got a good launch 4.78 this is a beast 5.52 well if you insist we'll do it again [Music] all right dude i gotta tell you i wasn't brake torquing it enough in the first drag race it was a poor launch uh let's do it again it's good to be the king all right i i'm pretty sure that they're going to be really close again because that was a damn close race dude and here's some other numbers dude weight to power ratio right because that's very important of course uh they're super close um so in fact the canon maverick turbo rr is about 9.75 pounds per horsepower yeah your truck is very heavy it's 6800 pounds versus 1900 pounds in here well yeah but your weight ratio is a tiny bit better 9.68 to 1. yeah but i outweigh you by about 30 pounds so suddenly we're almost identical maybe 40 pounds in a while that's cool dude i've been gaining some weight too yeah people tell us all the time [Music] all right let's line it up oh it felt good better than coffee all right so i am in sport mode i've got four wheel drive high gear and uh the rear locker is engaged and my steering is about medium feel but steering doesn't matter i'm gonna go full on speed i'm not using launch control because i just don't know when the guy's gonna launch me launch control is useless for stuff like this oh man was that a tie 4.94 no way dude 4.73 in case you didn't see that 4.73 i was actually reviewing the footage dude on the camera and the can am no doubt literally inches crossing the line first on pavement i could not believe it [Music] yeah you got a better start than me you didn't jump to start i'm being completely honest he just had a much better start than i did i think that these two are as evenly paired in terms of zero to 60 times and doing this track than any other vehicle i've ever driven yet they're so close yet they're totally different completely different machines guys okay i hope you enjoyed this i hope this was fun for you as well and
