before as a matter of fact lazarus was dead for four days and jesus called him back to life so nothing is impossible with him i have some names of individuals who are sick and they need our prayers sister winsome murray sister beverly kerr the cooper's family sister inez west sister veronica ashton and brother edwin thorne now let us ask the lord to have his own divine way in their heart to touch them spiritually to touch them physically and to make them whole amen just continue to pray for them because what prayer works amen bible class will be at 6 00 p.m this evening what time 6 p.m this evening we will also have the right hand of fellowship that will be at 5 00 p.m for the newly baptized i just want to remind us that we're still having or prior meetings so join uh zoom and shared everything they had the message for today's story is god's children share what they have do you like to have company come to dinner a long time ago some people were just learning about jesus let's imagine how one little girl and her family shared with them do a good job now little debra mama said with a smile company is coming to dinner again tonight deborah looked up who she asked i don't know yet mama answered with a twinkle in her eye mama sat down and pulled little debra onto her lap and kissed her rosy cheek i will explain it to you mama said the apostles are preaching the good news about jesus all over our city they are preaching with great power and hundreds of people are learning about jesus every day deborah nodded she knew the apostles were telling everyone about jesus while many of the new believers are from far away mama said they came to jerusalem for the great feast they heard the apostles and learned about jesus and now they want to stay for a while and learn even more about him but some are running out of money and that's why we are helping them we will share god's love with them by sharing our dinner deborah slid off mama's lap i better hurry and finish sweeping she said mama mixed the batch of bread she kneaded the dough and shaped it into loaves she put the loaves into the oven and the wonderful smell of baking bread soon filled the house there was a knock on the door mama's friends scurried in i have extra lentils she said i thought you might be able to use them she said as she left that's a lot of lentils mama little debra said you're right mama agreed she picked up the big sack and waited in her hands god is providing extra food and this will make lots of soup god must be bringing many people to dinner tonight she said how is my beautiful family papa's booming voice filled the house he scooped up little debra and gave her a gigantic hug he put an arm around mama and hugged her too that soup sure smells good papa exclaimed peering into the big pot we're sharing our supper deborah exclaimed she twirled across the floor we're sharing god's love with the new believers i know papa said i will get cleaned up and then we will all go to the apostles we will find hungry believers and bring them home and feed them and while we eat we'll talk about jesus deborah said that's my favorite part [Music] this podcast it was back in march and she has a powerful testimony of how she became she gave her life to christ so marita how are you doing today i'm fine thanks amen amen amen so what was what made your decision to follow christ what what was the um your decision for to do that okay so what happened is i visit my aunt in mississauga it's clara lashley she's also a member of pert um so all who know members from prayer they should know her and she said to me there's a surface online you guys should watch it she never asked us oh would you have time she always said we should do so okay so i listen to her and we looked at it together with her and i said to my daughter i said natana we should continue taking a look at this service online it's called footprints of hope and we continue and i said to natan i said natana you know what i think we should get baptized and she said mommy yeah i think so too so um my daughter was christening pert someday adventist church as well growing up i went to 70 adventist church i went to pentecostal church just christian church and when i came to canada i didn't realize my aunts and cousins they were all semi-adventists and looking at this service online i start looking up for churches in toronto okay which church can i go to because most church are closed and then a friend of mine said um try toronto central so i looked it up online i called i left a message i wanted to get baptized this saturday which was which was march 13th so it's my brother buddy so i would never forget wow and i didn't get any call and i was like why these people taking so long because i wanted to go that day wow and lo and behold saturday morning i got a call and i answered my phone is this marita i'm like yes it is and they asked i can't remember who it was but anyways he asked me if i want to come and i said sure can you guys make it i said of course i just dropped what i was doing i changed my clothes and took my daughter and my niece was with me and we came down wow so you're saying that same sabbath when you woke up it's the same day that you got baptized yes and that's the same day i wanted to get baptized because i left a message amen that's like why no one is calling back amen amen so you would say i would say that through the evangelistic series and through your aunt's influence that had a lot to play with you getting baptized yes as they called us backsliders well i'm no longer blacks i'm no longer a chicken walking but i'm an eager fly amen amen amen amen amen amen so that's such a powerful testimony so the question i want to ask you how has your life experience being since you have given your life to christ it's been wonderful i have a closer relationship with god amen and i extend my thoughts and my feeling towards other people and i think it has been an influence on other people too amen amen so what would you say for individuals we have a series coming up in october if there are individuals like your aunt maybe members in the congregation what would you say to them about the series coming up what should they do spread the word encourage others and you can change lives amen amen well all those who are watching online have them on your shoulder we are your people and we have come on this great sabbath morning to worship you i pray that all worship today may be acceptable in your sight and the blessings that we came for we will receive it from your bountiful hands of love and mercy we reach out this morning to all of our brothers and sisters in all different parts of the world we pray oh god that you may cover them with your love cover them with your mercies help them to realize lord that soon and very soon your mercies will run out so god help us help us all to keep our eyes steadfast in jesus look one in his wonderful face and the things of earth will grow strangely them we pray in a very special way for those who have been sick who have down with the flu and other ailments think of those names that was mentioned this morning oh god i pray that you may bring about healing in their lives through their sickness help them lord not to be the same but to bring a change so that they will realize that it is you who have been working things out on their behalf so bless us individually collectively as we come to worship you this morning help us all to be in the frame of mind where we can hear a word from you a word behind us saying go forward it won't be long so be with us all as we assemble ourself together just like the angels who assemble themselves together about your throne room i pray that we will receive a special blessing the blessing that we are all so much in need of this morning into your hands we want to commit our preacher today we have used them in the past and we know we know lord that today is no exception you will use him in a mighty way and that is message will appeal to our hearts to drop closer to you because we see the days coming when all men all men have to make up their mind to serve you or to serve the devil and so we purpose in our heart this morning to serve you for the rest of our natural life and this earth so when you come you will call us home we will not be afraid run into the rocks into the mountain to idols from your face but we will welcome you with joyful hearts bless us lord and help us to stay focused on you take all of us every family represented here this morning and those who are in line and grant us that special blessing on this sabbath day for us thank you again and may you unite our hearts to fear you as we see the day pastor frederick nichols a native of the island of jamaica felt the call to ministry as a young boy and studied at atlantic union college where he received a bachelor's degree in theology after minister ministering for several years in the united states he returned to his second home to run to ontario to continue his ministry in the ontario conference of the seventh day adventist [Music] pastor nichols was ordained to the gospel ministry in 2004. and received his master of divinity degree from andrews university theological seminary in 2006. [Music] it is no secret that pastor nichols enjoys proclaiming the gospel he has proven himself to be an international preacher and evangelist having won many souls to the church from all ethnicities ages and walks of life and is constantly sought after to speak within north america and around the globe [Music] pastor nichols is married to his college sweetheart christina christina fox and they have been blessed with three handsome boys let the child say man currently he serves as the lead pastor of the toronto west seventh-day adventist church [Music] and yes it's indeed our mother church right we're aware of that [Music] for pastor nichols there is no greater joy than the time he spends with his god and his family and he believes that ministry is about obedience to the lord's will let good to be here at central and i want to first say thank you to your leadership team [Music] that has been so gracious in hosting me this morning i was not supposed to be here today i'm sure you already know that men have their schedules but god has his agenda pastor nemhart and i share a rich history that dates back to when i was a young child back to jamaica days um i knew he and his wife before they were married i was the ring bearer at his wedding [Music] back then i was short fat and had hair now i'm short fat and have no hair and over the years we have stayed in contact and i was blessed to be his associate he was my father's associate down at spanish town district of churches in jamaica in the central jamaica conference and then when i came here to work after doing a stint in boston and chicago i ended up at perth with nem hard and those are some good years and so because he has left his imprint on my ministry in a very positive way when the boss calls [Music] you cannot say no and he uh expressed to me earlier this week when he called that he was in need and pastor nemhart if i'm around will never be in need because he's that good of a person and i hope that you appreciate both of your pastors here at this church really do uh because pastor dunchy and i also go back a ways i remember pastor dunchy when he was still sucking his finger praise the lord somebody as we were young children over at toronto west and we've just always kept in contact and always stayed together and i'm so proud of what he has become and what he is doing and proud of him for the new baby that he has in his life now i pray that baby gives as much trouble as he did when he was a child i'm also happy to be in a place where i'm not restricted by time see at toronto west they've gotten so sedition uppity and they have so many streaming programs that they now do on a sabbath and that when we were in church we just recently opened our church when we're in church now they they always remind me pastor when you get up to preach remember that you have to finish by x amount of time but because i know that central loves to worship and you don't count time and you took your time i'm gonna take my time and i'm gonna preach this sermon until it's finished amen and i'm gonna i'm gonna rush this thing and be careful how you say amen because i enjoy the pulpit so my wife said to me right before i pulled into the park she said fred do not weary the saints come on man we should not be weary in being in the lord's house we've been out of the lord's house for 18 months come on somebody it's time to let god have his due in his house and enjoy the time we have with him i want to say thank you to your musicians gentlemen i appreciate you i appreciate you i especially appreciate your drummer i know everybody else pays attention to keys into the base but brother you hitting them things nice you get them things nice appreciate that your rhythm's good and so i want to say thank you as well to your praise team they had the spirit and there's something to be said about a good priest team that can convey the spirit of christ to the rest of the congregants who are sitting here and we ought to be honest with ourselves we are supposed to come in here already excited to be in the lord's presence but sometimes we come in here and we're not because of the weeks that we've had or the days that we've had and you know the devil loves to attack you most on a sabbath morning when you're getting ready to come to church and that's when you get into your biggest arguments and your children drag their feet the most and you're just trying to get out the house but but uh but but the devil and so when you get in here you're not always on your a-game so there's something to be said about a good praise team that's prayed up that can lead god's people to the throne room so we can enjoy the word so thank you for your ministry this morning all of you and for the invitation to be here i i appreciate the fact that i can stand behind the block of wood i'm not sure if i'll ever get another chance so i'm going to preach like it's my last time is that all right [Music] all right i want you to turn in your bibles to [Music] the book of luke i know that john was read as your scripture reading and it is the scripture reading and i want you to keep it in your mind but i want you to turn to the book of luke now you're smart here at this church because i have been described as a roaming preacher normally i have a lapel mic on and i like to move all over the place but because you have kept me stationary behind the desk today i'm assuming because the cameramen don't want to have too much work uh i'll stand right here and do what i got to do i know i could use a handheld but i'm i hate holding something in my hand when i'm preaching so i'll just stay behind the block of wood is that all right all right john sorry luke chapter seven luke chapter seven i'm going to read from verse 11 to verse 17 in your hearing and it's the new king james version luke chapter 7 verse 11 to verse 17 and here's what the word of god has to say now it happened the day after that he went into a city called nain and many of his disciples went with him and a large crowd and when he came near the gate of the city behold a dead man what everybody dead man was being carried out the only son of his mother and she was a widow and a large crowd from the city was with her when the lord saw her wait i want you i want you to pause for a second i want you to notice that the bible says here specifically a large crowd from the city was with her verse 1 says that when he went into the city called name many of his disciples went with him because i want to start to paint a mental picture in your mind of two large crowds on a collision course a large crowd was with her from the city and when the lord saw her he had compassion on her and said to her do not weep then he came and touched the open coffin and those who carried him stood still and he said young man i say to you arise so he who was dead sat up and began to speak and he presented him to his mother then fear came upon all and they glorified god saying a great prophet has written a risen up amongst us god has visited his people and this report went about him and this report about him went throughout all judea and all the surrounding region appreciate the other subject matter where life intersects where life intersects there are times in your life where you will experience loss it is a natural part of the human existence as a matter of fact from the time you are born you start losing stuff we will lose our favorite toy some of us because we are not the last child lose our position as the favored child because the favorite child is always the last one that was born uh we lose our favorite toys and we lose our favorite television shows cause they get cancelled we lose pencils and pens and some of us have lost money can i get amen we lose things in life and the greater the degree of importance on the item lost is the harder or stronger the pain if you lose 10 cents it don't feel as bad as if you lose a hundred dollars some of us have rejoiced because we stuck that fifty dollar bill in our pocket years ago and forgot it was there and didn't wear the dress or the pants for a long time and all of a sudden we took it out and put it on because it was going to fit an occasion and reached our hand in the pocket and found the money that we had lost and when something is restored after it's lost there is a feeling of completion that happens within the human body scientists have said that that that it that they have studied the brain and how the brain operates especially after loss and there is a something that happens within your your your brain that causes an imbalance when you lose stuff especially when you've lost a loved one your brain becomes imbalanced because there is an unfairness that the mind is trying to compensate for that it cannot really fully get to to justify because human life is precious are you with me right now and and and and when it is lost uh it causes us to feel something uh i will admit that there are some people that get happy when somebody dies because they're so that person calls them so much agony that they're just glad when the person is gone i'll never forget one time conducting a funeral and the husband got up with his wife in the casket and stood up in front of everybody and said it is a pleasure for me to stand here before you today because there's some some people whose lives are so turbulent against yours that you're just glad when they're gone we ought to be honest about that come on say amen and you can sit there all pious but you know you know and then there are others and this is what happens most of the time that we lose in life and because we place that much value on on their life in our life than when they're gone there's a gaping hole that is now there and present and you don't feel like you're going to get over the loss years could pass by and you can learn to cope with the loss but you never really get over the loss this is why the word of god says in first thessalonians 4 that we sorrow not as do others that have no hope because the christian mind though perturbed by the loss ought to be the mind that can survive the loss most of all because when somebody's lost we have this hope that burns within our hearts and hope in the coming of the lord and so there is this thing within our brains as believers in christ and especially as seventh-day adventists we ought to be even more joyful than others that have no hope because our very name depicts that we're looking forward to the second coming of jesus christ and we know that when jesus christ comes again all things that were lost will be restored and because of that there is this there is this excitement of looking forward to jesus but it doesn't mean we still don't mourn the loss and here we have a picture a story being told of a mother that has lost her only son now we don't know if this is her only child she could have had daughters as well but we know this was her only son and in the misogynistic world back then men were the only ones that were important so if you were married you were somebody and then if you had a son you were somebody because it meant that they were qualified to work the bigger jobs and earn the bigger wages ladies i understand that we're in the equality age and that we're still fighting for the equality of wages amongst uh uh the the sexes and that that you are worth every penny as a man if you do the job because sometimes you even do that job better than the man does come on say amen uh uh uh um um it is possible that that that this can happen today so if you are a woman in today's society and you lose your husband and you lose your son you're all right especially if you've got a job you're all right you can still earn a living and so forth you're still entitled to any property that you own as a matter of fact you will inherit the property that your husband and you would have held together if he goes you got it all don't kill him for it uh but but now but now this woman this woman is left without a husband because it says she was a widow and she had a son and this was a young virile man who was able to work and make money for the family and take care of his mother because the responsibility of a son after a father died back then was to take care of his mother and the rest of his family especially if he was the first son much less if he was the only son and so now he's here taking care of his family but something happens we don't know if he got sick we don't know if he fell off a ladder we don't know if he got gored by a bull we don't know what happened but what we do know is that death came and it came suddenly it was unexpected it wasn't supposed to happen but here it came and this mother is sitting by the bedside of his son and i would like to posit to you today that this boy when he got ill whether from a disease or from an accident may have been suffering for a while before he breathed his last breath and i'll show you why i believe that later on in the in the message today and so he may have been there by the bedside gasping his mother sitting by his bedside praying and asking god to do something because she's recognizing now what her future is going to look like there's no possibility for me to hold land or title because back then when my husband died all that land and title have passed to my son but now that my son is dying and about to die then that land and title will pass to his brothers or watch how unfair this gets it will pass to the synagogue because there were lawyers back then yes they've been around for a long time lawyers back then who had devised uh uh laws and and and and reasons why when when somebody died that land couldn't be passed to the to the to the widow it needed to be passed to the church because women weren't intelligent enough to take care of property and so she is now realizing what her faith is going to be you would have been living in a lap of luxury in the home that was provided but now that's about to be taken away you're about to become like ruth and naomi gleaning for scraps in the fields of boaz and so this poor woman and who knows what age she was she could have been in her 70s or in her 80s or in her 90s but she was now going to be destitute for she had no one to take care of her not another kin alive all the men in her life dead and now they are about to mourn and and we are told by antiquity that back then whenever the funerals were conducted that there would be professional mourners you've heard about them before these professional mourners and professional musicians that would that would become a part of the funeral throng it was tradition back then and they would march the body and the body was buried within 24 hours of its death are you with me somebody and so now they're carrying this this uh funeral the bible says coffin but it was an open-air coffin the man would have been wrapped up in swaddling clothes the same way jesus would have been wrapped up when he was put in the tomb and he's wrapped in that and he's on the funeral buyer and they're they're carrying him out of the city because you never buried the dead within the city walls and so they're coming out the city and it's a pruning procession it's moving slowly there's a somberness to it there's weeping and wailing going on you can't tell which one is genuine and which one is fake because they're professional mourners and i would like to posit to you today that we've got professional mourners in the church as well professional mourners who cry over everything that happens in the church seems as if pastors can't do anything right elders can't do anything right the leaders can't do anything right we sit down as quarterback couch potatoes on monday morning analyzing what was done after it's been done we lift no finger to get involved in church programming or church ministry we love to criticize everything we are professional complainers and we occupy the pews and we occupy pews instead of occupying service because jesus said occupy till i come don't sit down and do nothing get up and get busy for the lord but instead of doing that they they are mourning and and the person who got the most money was the person who cried the loudest and can you hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth as they walk down the roadway and they're carrying they're standing just behind the the coffin itself and the pallbearers are carrying it on their shoulder and this death march is moving out of the city of name going to where the burial tombs are to bury the dead but as they are walking out of the city this band of people who are somber and mourning there is in the distance another throng of people that's coming towards them the bible says the bible says that that there are those who are following jesus for he has taken a chance to walk to the city of nain on that day and and while he is walking it also tells us that many of his disciples not just the 12 but many of his disciples were following him so now there's a ball of death and a ball of life somebody ought to start to get happy right now there's a ball of death and a ball of life and they're on a collision course when roads that were intersecting just outside the city gate it is inevitable that they're about to collide because in the ball of life there are people who are happy and they are singing and they are talking about what jesus has just done as a matter of fact they just left the opportunity to read the first part of the chapter where jesus healed the centurion servant who had been deathly ill this is where the centurion came to him and said to him master i need to heal my servant they said well take me to me he said no sir i'm a sinner i don't want you to come in my presence or in my home but i know you have the power that if you just speak the word your servant my servant will be healed and jesus said i haven't seen his face as this in all of israel and jesus pronounces it and the man is healed when that happens everybody's happy and now they're marching to name so they're coming off of the experience of christ's pronouncement of life back into a deathly situation and so now they are they are coming they are smiling they are happy they are jubilant they're they're they're they're clinging tambourines and they're singing songs of joy don't get mad seventh-day adventists when somebody breaks out a tambourine in your congregation don't get mad when somebody gets happy in the pew because they've experienced the joy of the lord and you have it too many miserable adventists come sitting down in church that when somebody's experienced a breakthrough in jesus they get happy we turn and look at them like your strength now that should be the noise heard in the lord's house all the time if god has angels and elders around him all the time crying holy holy holy then somebody ought to be happy in the lord's house all the time so there's this life and death situation that's happening this collision course like two prize fighters destined for a big fight in the middle of the ring here they are and they're about to cross paths well what happens what happens when life meets death and i don't mean lowercase l lowercase i lowercase f and lowercase e i'm talking the uppercase l the uppercase i the uppercase f and the uppercase e because jesus said i am the way the truth and the life and here comes life on a collision course to meet death now death is powerful let's not kid ourselves death is an awesome foe death death death will meet all of us if god chooses not to stretch his galilean leg over that cloud and come back to this earth one more time it will find us we're all destined for death as a matter of fact you are starting to die the moment you are born you do know that right with all of your growing and all of your youthfulness and all of your exuberance the moment you you come out of your mother's womb death is finding you and your body begins to decay that's why your fingernails grow that's why hair drops off your body elders you know that's why that's that's why that's why you experience aches and pains you remember what it was to be 19 years old and you woke up in the morning and just jumped out of bed now you are 49 years old and you roll out the sack you find it hard to put your leg down on the ground it's somebody with me right now and and and and so so so here it is life is about to meet death and normally life cowers in the face of death for those of us who live have not found yet a way to overcome death it will find us but there something different about the man who's moving with life in his fingertips it's not just in his fingertips it's in his verbiage see elder if they had set a man right there i'd know to wrap up the sermon in five minutes called the brethren would have gotten it but now i've got to squeeze the sponge dry take my time watch jesus and these two these two entities collide and there's confusion for for how does it sound band members when when the slow march of a ballad is being sung for the death and the fast-paced march of excitement is being sung for life what a cacophony of noise that collides on the pathway and and jesus who does not know this woman from adam assesses the situation instantaneously and understands what is happening right then and there i'm glad i serve a god who understands my troubles and not only understands what i'm going through but knows how to fix it and when jesus meets them on the roadway jesus jesus the bible says looks and sees her has compassion on her i'm glad jesus sees me and has compassion on my situation and jesus walks over the bible says he sees what's happening he says woman now now now now now now now if i were to say this to one of you if i were to come here to do a funeral and i were to say this to one of you he would look at me like i'm a crazy man but jesus looks at her and and in the greek it says in the imperative which means it was a command jesus says in the imperative woman weep not okay okay uh some of you don't understand the callousness of the situation uh because because he says weep not now how do you tell our grieving mother of one son whose husband has already died whose future looks bleak and knows that there is no way to come back from this lady stop crying and i can imagine that there must have been some compassion in jesus tone but can you also see behind the compassion the air of confidence that he has as a matter of fact some people called him arrogant because he was so confident in everything he said but the one who says it can do something about it see when you've got the strength to do something about the situation you can talk with arrogance you can talk with confidence jesus says woman weep not and then the bible says he steps over to the coffin and he touches the coffin now that should raise a red flag for all of you 20-year plus sabbath school studying individuals because you've been studying sabbath school lessons long enough to understand that jews were not allowed to touch the dead much less anything that was associated with the dead but jesus who has no fear of death and is not bound by the societal norms walks over to the coffin and in front of all the jews touches the coffin oh i wish we had some seventh-day adventists who would in front of all the other seventh-day adventists do what the lord wants instead of doing what the church wants see see what god wants in these last days is some boldness lord help me to say this next statement without getting run out of the church but all y'all in here and there's some people in here that are still clamoring talking about we got to run to the hills and run to the mountains and move up there and get rid of all our money and whatever you forget that the great disappointment started the same way and what god we see if all of us flee the city who's going to be left to evangelize it and jesus said you better preach this gospel until i come not everybody can run and flee somebody's got to stay to say something on behalf of the lovely jesus i wish that our church was not a breeding ground for fanatics we preach the gospel as if it is void of the love of god but you cannot take the love out of the gospel it is a central core of why we forgot a gospel we've got to learn how to start talking about the loving jesus the merciful god the gracious god stop making 2 300 days sound like it's the most important doctrine we got it ain't it is still that love lifted me when i was down in sin and muck and mire god was still able to save my sorry carcass and you ought to be able to pronounce that to the hilltops there should be nothing that stops you from saying something about the lovely jesus jesus walks up to that funeral buyer and he puts his hand on it and then he says young man i say unto you arise okay we read that in the word but it's too glibly red it's too easily overlooked jesus says to a dead man young man i say unto thee arise y'all didn't get it say it again jesus i'm going i said it to this side y'all didn't get it i'm gonna say it to this side let's see if they tune in jesus says to a dead man young man i say unto thee arise okay they're faking because there i told them to say amen someone say one more time let's see if you get it in your head jesus says a living says to a dead man young man i say unto thee arise now let me show you why this don't make no sense we talk we have the ability to say something to a dead body but we don't speak to a dead body as if it can hear us casket is laid out in front of the central church and bodies in the casket and we'll walk up and we say oh so so sorry that this happened thank you for being in my life now you know a seventh-day adventist that the dead know nothing we've preached for years that when one dies when you're dead you're dead from dust i came and back to dust i'll go back we don't preach in our our funerals that that the dead are up in heaven and they are hobnobbing with moses and and the rest of the predecessors we don't preach that we we don't preach that they get them because the bible says they will not receive the promise without us so we're going to get there together so we believe that when somebody dies they're dead so when we speak about the person we're speaking about them but jesus speaks to the dead as if they were alive romans 4 17 if you don't believe me because some of you might be saying are pastors out of the bible right now but no romans 4 17 romans 4 17 says god speaks to the dead as if they're living why because even his his voice is so powerful that even dead ears can hear when he speaks and i'm going to channel now the preachers of old in this church who've always said that if jesus never called this young man directly and simply said arise that all the dead in adam would die would have risen at that very moment because there's power in the rain of jesus and there's power in the word of jesus and when jesus said young man i say unto thee arise then the young man had to it's not a choice because when your master calleth you respond young man sits up now the woman whose hopes had been gone who was experiencing loss who had the imbalance in her brain who was mourning this young man being being dead instantaneously her mind is brought back into focus and into balance because what was lost is now restored that's why the bible says in first corinthians that in a moment and the twinkling of an eye every wrong will be made right instantaneously and so those people who have lost their mind because they can't handle the stresses of life when god comes again every mind will be made right that is a good word glad you came say the prayer let's go i ain't done because while you've been saying amen you haven't rejoiced yet here come the rejoicing here come to rejoicing jesus the bible says was on his way to the city of nain he had just finished healing from the jaws of death the body of the centurion who had a servant who was sick he was in capernaum when he did that he now leaves capernaum and he walks to name the beginning of our passage said the next day after capernaum he arrives in name somebody's going to catch this in a second what then triggers this preacher's mind is this one question how far is capernaum from nain because the text started with the next day so the day before he heals the centurion servant and then he shows up in nain the next day now this is the period of time when jesus was doing ministry on the shores of the sea of galilee so all the cities that are on the shore of the sea of galilee galilee and on the shores of nazareth where the sea of galilee is jesus was doing ministry there he had concentrated his ministry there so when you look at the distance between where nain is and where capernaum is you find out that if you were driving a car it would take you four hours by car if you were if you were riding on horseback it would take you eight hours by horseback but the word says that he was walking with his disciples the throne of them and they were walking the roadway to name it makes no sense to leave capernaum and walk to name because nain wasn't a well-known town it wasn't a town that had any major business contacts it wasn't a town of any importance that anybody should have gone to it was a little by the way town somewhere out in the middle of nowhere that nobody would have any business going to much less somebody the importance of jesus but jesus leaves capernaum and it says if you're walking it takes about 10 to 12 hours to walk from capernaum to nain which means that if jesus arrives according to the word here in the middle of the day which was 12 o'clock noon it meant he had to start walking from midnight the previous day to get today now why does he start walking why because somebody is on a bed dying and a grieving mother is praying god do something about my situation god please fix my problem i don't know how i'm going to get out of this i don't know what i'm going to do because of this and god sends a message to his son and says start walking to nain and don't worry if he passes before you get there just get there cause you've got the power of hell death and the grave and so this ball of life answers the prayer before the woman realizes her prayer is going to be answered before you call i will answer and while you are yet speaking i'll start sending the answer and while this lady is playing by the bedside of her dying son jesus starts walking the answer starts moving towards her and right at the point of most desperation when death has already come when they're going to put the body in the ground shows up on time is life and life says we've not [Music] in the imperative and then he says uh young man i say unto you now you understand why he can be so arrogant because he's got the power is somebody hearing me christ has the power what am i trying to say to you today because we're gonna shout on this next point and then i'll sit down and we can all go get lunch and you can tell by looking at me i like lunch church family stop acting like your life is one big death march [Music] stop moving as if there's no hope stop pretending as if there's no way out stop do listen i'm going to be honest with you there's some people that i go to church and i don't even want to talk to i'm you're the pastor you're supposed to love everybody yeah i love everybody i don't want to talk to everybody why because some folk you run into them and they got nothing positive to say about nothing always negative always always you know well how was your week this week well you know i i thought that i was going to die and they always doom and gloom and you serve a god you got to listen this is why you got to start setting your mind on things eternal and make sure that your hope is in the second coming of jesus christ so that your life is not lived in doom and gloom that way when they take away your house you say that's all right god is taking away what i don't need for what i'm going to need up there are you with me you got to stop living your life in the negative and the doom and gloom and i know kovitz happened pastor all of us are depressed what are you depressed what the reality are you depressed about that the disease is running around diseases have been running around in the world from the time of before christ you all got to get over the fact that diseases are running around well we restricted we can't go outside boo hoo acting like the world has come to an end and come to an end your mission down here ain't done yet god hasn't lifted his obligations on you as his child you've still got to be positive about what god is asking you to do well pastor how do i do that i'm glad you asked i'm going to tell you i'm going to sit down and shut up watch this my wife and i recently moved from one house to another we moved out of our old neighborhood and went to our new neighborhood are you with me so because we decided one day we were just sitting around and we decided that because my sons were getting bigger and i was getting wider i love the blessings of the lord [Music] because we decided one day that we won't move houses somebody ought to stay with me on this we decided we're going to move houses we started looking for a new house so so we were searching around when we finally found a house that we liked we put a bin in on the house and we won the bid amen when we won the bid what it meant was that was going to be our new house so what we stopped doing is what we stopped worrying about the old house and the old neighborhood what do you mean pastor well what i started to do because i knew i was going to a new place i went to the new area and i started looking around the new area i wanted to find out where the post office was i wanted to find out where the drugstore was i wanted to find out where the supermarkets were how far was it to the nearest walmart i started researching my new neighborhood because i no longer saw myself as living in my old neighborhood i started to get rid of my old neighborhood and the things that were plaguing my old neighborhood as a matter of fact some of the things that were problems in my old neighborhood stopped bothering me because i knew that soon and very soon i was going to be out of there and because i knew where i was going and the new house i was going to i started worrying about my new context and stopped worrying about my old one are you with me somebody so we we went we went we went to the dmv or to service ontario and we went and we got our licenses changed to the new address on our on our driver's license and we went and we went to the post office and we we told them to start forwarding the mail to the new address instead of sending it to the old address because we didn't even though we were sleeping there we didn't see ourselves as living there because it was the old place that we had just gotten rid of and we're going to the new place somebody should follow where i'm going on this right now see right now you're living in your old place you're only sleeping here you've got residents here for now but you and i know that we've got a new place that we're going to and we've got to start thinking like we live in the new place already which is why when stuff happens down here we can say oh yeah we expect that because this is the old neighborhood but i'm looking for a day when i can live in a house whose builder and maker is god [Applause] i don't live down here anymore my mind is already up there i'm already thinking about the new place i'm going to so i start studying about the new place and i start worrying about the new place and i know that in a little while we'll be going home stop focusing on where you are start concentrating on where you're going because god has a way of intersecting and interrupting your negativity and your slow death march of life with his life and when he meets you on the roadway you could be deep in the middle of your tears but god is faithful so trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in jesus but to trust and obey no good good for nothing man left you destitute it's all right god will restore you lost your mother and your father and they're no longer with you on this planet it's all right god will restore you how you have to downsize from your big house to a small house it's all right god's got a mansion uh you don't you don't you barely eat good food because you're struggling to buy one thing over the other at the supermarket it's all right one of these days you'll never get hungry and all food will taste absolutely good you realize when you get to heaven nobody will say this don't taste right see we can't fathom it the bible says i have not seen neither have ears heard the things which god has in store for us central church hold to his hand god's unchanging hand build your hopes on things eternal and hold to god's unchanging hand sing the wondrous love of jesus sing his mercy and his grace in the mansions bright [Music] heal now sing it like you're actually going somewhere when we so [Music] when we all get to have what a day of rejoicing [Music] victory whale georgia man oh man pastor nicholas brought it down man i feel like an eagle flying now amen amen amen church what a blessing were you blessed what about those who are online were you blessed if you were blessed say amen amen amen you know what george you're just listening to that sermon it just made me think what what am i stressed out about why are we so stressed about we have that great hope you know we're living down here but our thoughts and our should be beyond here it should be about heaven right now it should be but unfortunately it's because we have no hope but i am so glad that pastor remind us that there is hope amen amen amen you know i just listened to that sermon and it's so wonderful that you can read the bible over and over and you learn something new thinking about jesus walking on that road to name and he intersected he met the lady and her son at the funeral procession just at the right time and that's how god is in our life as well he always arrives just on time that is correct i like the part where pastor said that we should start setting on our minds on things that are eternal amen amen and it's so wonderful to know you know nothing happens by chance you see even our bible class this evening is on death and the resurrection and pastor nichols spoke about it today so you know
