Where is this VIBRATION coming from???

seems worse it does seem worse and it pulls all right today we're doing a front end dana 30 putting new bearings and stuff in it we're going to see if we can fix a vibration that this thing has it's got a bad pinion bearing or something so we'll tear it into it i'm ryan from tokerville and that's my 1999 jeep wj grand cherokee and it's got a vibration in the front end and paul's doing his best to see if he can figure out what's going on [Applause] so i put this cover on with right stuff so you got to heat it up so you're not getting it off [Applause] not enough yet [Applause] maybe it was loose that's loose it's warm well's not horrible this time still got some metal in it though so basically the differential out we have to tear all of this off and then we can pull it out so we'll take the brakes apart and i've never seen any that still had the rubber caps on them pretty impressive [Applause] it's about to warm up enough i don't need a coat on a small axle little cv okay one side down right there right there is that well i believe that's your breather yeah you're missing your breather thing out of the front end oh we'll fix it yeah see it's the there's a hole right here yeah it's gone we'll find something to put in there suck it up well it's breathing yeah but if you went through water or anything it'd suck it right in all right we're gonna have to pull that off because the carrier's not gonna make it out without taking a tire right off two bolts so when you're doing burnouts in your truck know that four bolts is the only thing holding your carrier in and that opinion doesn't feel bad all right it doesn't tell us what's wrong still yeah already cut myself bearings are a little pitted they could be causing that drag but but i doubt it well i really don't think this is going to fix your vibration i was hoping to find problems should we go through with the rebuild oh yeah we can where's the part because there there's definite wire in them yeah there's there's a bad spot in that one you can feel it we'll put new ones in it so this thing's got some special little like an air pump or something on it here i don't know what is a nursing one but it makes it really hard to get the bearing separator in there so we're gonna try it let's see if we can do it without breaking it because we don't have the specialty tool number whatever it was that we needed all right it's either gonna come out of there we're gonna break something so i didn't have anything that would fit through this so we do now probably not gonna work we're committed right now hopefully this is one of the easy bearings it'll just come right off yep it was told you was gonna work never doubted it we can see what this thing is just got a little flap right there that uh yeah like that's the reed yeah it's just a reed that seal right here spins something engineer somewhere i thought that was a really good idea and it it might have been a really good idea on paper but i'm willing to bet it has zero effect on anything we'll put new bearings on it put it back together they're starting to turn a little golden color we'll put that thing back on so we don't forget it because that would be my luck right there oh you push on the other side yeah that's how you push it in that's handy there's pockets in your shorts man you missed out yesterday what happened we brought the old willy's in oh gotta run for a ride we didn't tell you but there's no brakes [Applause] it doesn't run good at all but it does run darling you tell me i was putting this in backwards the hair we go that'll make it easier i'll bet it does that it'll help good thing you showed up to keep an eye on me i thought it was looking kind of odd i've been a couple to a couple of those well that's the niftiest niftiest tool i've bought all week i didn't even smash my finger one time that was worth 60 bucks all right that thing's hot and those things don't like heat rags yeah these ones are oh they're caught they must be it melded all right well we'll let them cool down so we can set it up properly i'll tear the pinion out of it stuff coming apart there you go so what is that thing yeah if you figure that out you win a medal of some kind it's a plenum is what it's called when you look it up a plenum it's got to pump air or something into the posi and catch it yeah maybe it just when it comes around but throws oil down here to drop it in on this doesn't spin it these two tabs lock but that's what i mean when this is spinning around well it's got like a little pump in there oh does it it's got a little diaphragm like a little fuel pump would have in it i've never seen one before but it's uh putting preload on the bearing get a little bit of oil on the bearings just so that they'll spin good we'll put it back together i guess all put that right there for just a second probably gonna work better if i put it on that way then the other way tighten those up see what we got for a pattern we got slop this is what we need why do you need to put that on it because we got to check a pattern and see whether the ring and the pinion are lined up right running where they need to run then you take this thing and smear it around in there and then we'll roll it around put a little pressure on it with the with your hand and then roll it back we'll see what it looked like see where it's running yeah it's pretty good right in the middle not super deep so you can see that it's not bottomed out clear down in there and it's right in the middle we'll take it now we gotta pull the pinion out and put the seal in it sounds like someone's here yeah yeah i heard a door it's jd ha ha look at that i'm psychic i called it i said it was you well does the car run no that didn't do it it was missing so they messed around with spark plugs for a while and they decided they needed new plugs fuel pump was the problem yeah fuel pump was a problem i went to kanab to get plugs and while i was on canada they decided to key switch oh no it was sticky so they pulled it out now they can't get the anti-theft to reset so it'll start and run for 15 seconds no two seconds oh you got to take it somewhere that has a computer that can re-flash it and that's awesome yeah it's awesome i'm just putting brakes together [Music] so what do you think the vibrations from um i'm beginning to think that it's the transfer case i got bad feeling that we're still going to have the same vibration but i hope not we had one bearing that was a little bit pitted but we didn't find the what we thought we were going to find okay put some oil in it i'm just putting the u-joint back in what is that you're putting in friction modifier for the posie this posies wore out it's gonna need a whole bunch of help maybe some brake fluid to get them sticky to where they'll bite together mopar limited slip additive land what have you got going on over 60. here trying to make his lawnmower do 60. you better not with that oh geez i'm going to try to make that a little straight well you better start wearing a helmet riding your lawnmower then i got to fix this vent it's broken off right there it looks like it just pulled out and it's missing uh did you take it your ratchet attachment no this is the ratchet attached the actual ratchet yeah i used it i sent jace a snapchat of that shedhorn this morning yeah they shed their horns on our lawn this morning oh i was headed outside this morning looked out this window right here that was laid in my yard pretty sweet pretty decent horn for a yard find not bad we have them in our fields all the time but we've never had them shed there that's the first shed one i picked up in my orchard [Music] take for a burn and see what it does let's see if it vibrates whew seats are soft in here they like squish your butt all right brakes work still we did something right we didn't unfix that part at least that's good all right let's see if this thing vibrates before when you hit about 30 you had a noticeable vibration coming from the front half of this and it wasn't tire we took the drive line off and it went away then we tore the front diff apart or the cover off of it and we decided that it had problems in there but i didn't find many problems way better but it still has it so what is it transfer case maybe he's put a new driveline in it new hubs on the front new everything with the driveline be like in crooked or something no that vibration's annoying we're gonna go take and turn two turns on the top arm and roll the pinion backwards a little bit we'll see if we can make that work [Music] make sure we're not we're adjusting some caster angle yeah you're at one that's just with the bolts out it's just setting their nat until we'll uh loosen those up now what'd you find that being asked underneath that seat oh we was chipping where was we in huntington i think it was jaden went under a tree and there was one like that big and the roller hit the limb and knocked it off was there bees in it it was bees in it it wasn't the summer i left you right there yep paul's allergic to him i'm not afraid to scream like a girl and run either and then he's allergic to him too he swells up like popeye 2.4 so we doubled it well we'll go see what that does there might be something wrong with that driving well it's the second one is the thing well that's the first one from that company all right what's your bets fix it i mean you didn't have a lot of faith in it do you have faith in it now well i think we're on the right track still there not nearly as bad though yeah the steering wheel doesn't feel as bad maybe we need to go a hair more it drives like a thousand times better i'll go cut a little bit more into it well it's not bad till about 60 right now third time's the charm maybe or the 4th or the 29th one of the all two let's go give her a good old test run i can't do a burnout in it though it's four wheel drive it pulls like crazy right now seems worse it does seem worse okay we'll go back and turn it back up to where it was i think it's the front drive line it's worse for sure so we'll go back the other direction shouldn't be the problem but it is the problem i'm sure the driveline so we're gonna go drive it right now so we think it's the driveline we've narrowed it down to the driveline do you like how i added we into that yeah good job i couldn't figure it out michelle came down pinpointed it said it was the driveline yep i don't know how he even does any of this stuff without me so now we're going to take a furburn without the driveline and see if that's what it is that is what we're doing have you drove it without the driveline never have i can already tell it's better you can yep someone sold him a bad drive line can take that in and get that thing balanced and should solve all of his woes [Music] like 100 i could even tell i don't know if they put the weight on wrong or what they've done but it's vibrating for sure so we've put new seals bearings everything in the front it's good now but we've narrowed it down to this driveline is not properly balanced it vibrates after about 50. so we took it off he's going to take it in and try to get it rebalanced and see if that'll fix his problem and he's going to give us an update right yeah i will absolutely i'll be back again with something else before you guys sounds good
