- It's kind of like you're being hugged while you're sleeping. (Lincoln groans) (London laughs) Are you ready for me to stab it? - [Lincoln] No. - Except.
- Whoa! (gentle music) - Okay. This is a weighted blanket. Did you know that these things exist? Apparently they're really big
for a lot of health reasons. People think that they're really good. So we thought it'd be a really
good What's Inside video to see what's inside
of a weighted blanket. And so, we bought this one because it's pink and it looks cute. - Looked good. - So we have a few blankets
that we wanna show you. And the key learnings that we found over the last month of using them. And then, I have a really small knife that I thought we could use. - Whoa. - To cut it open and see what's inside. - [Lincoln] Do you think it's actually gonna cut the fabric though? - I don't know, but it's
gonna be fun to try. - It looks really cool. - Pow, just like that. - That thing is huge. - That is so big, I think it'll work. Why do people get a weighted blanket? It's kind of like you're being hugged while you're sleeping. So what does a hug do for you? Well, eases insomnia by using
this blanked supposedly. Helps with sensory processing disorder, reduces anxiety, fights
back against stress, ADHD, restless leg
syndrome, fibromyalgia pain, improves sleep quality, boosts mood, promotes calm, encourages
focus in the classroom. Even just by sitting inside a class and putting a weighted
blanket on their legs, supposedly research has shown that can help some of the kids in class. Eases pain without drugs? Helps with the elderly,
eases travel anxiety, address symptoms of PTSD. There's a lot of claims. And we not saying that these things actually fix those things. But we're telling you what the internet has said that potentially helps with. I personally do sleep better, like I do. It's like comforting to have
the weight on your body. - I'm starting to really like it. - So now the blankets that we used and the ones that we
like and we don't like and the reasons why. Let's tear it apart. First, let's go with
the one we don't like. This one, it looked really cute. It was pink and it's
so soft on the outside. But after about a week being on the bed, obviously like sometimes
you're going to have blankets like laying
off the side of the bed. All of the weight or whatever it is inside starts falling to that side. That side is incredibly heavy. And this side has nothing. - That's just a normal blanket. - Yeah, it ends up becoming more annoying than a normal blanket because you're laying there in bed, and all the weight is off the bed and you got this non-weight part on you. You wake up in the middle of the night and it all falls off of you. - That would be scary. Like all of a sudden, just
the blanket just falls off. - You'd be a terrified
like a ghost did it? - Yeah. (intense music) - Ghost blanket. So I guess we're gonna dub
this one the ghost blanket. Not our favorite. This one is the one that
came to really like. It's like an Apple computer (laughs). - Yeah, it does, like yeah. - This is TRUBlanket. And it comes in a 15
pound or a 20 pounder. I guess the ideal weight is you're supposed to have a blanket that's like 10% of your own weight. So even though 25 blanket sounds good, that may be too heavy for most people. - Yeah, it's heavy to lift up, if you need to get out of bed. - Yeah, I think a 15 pounder is probably the best for most people. Here we go. That box is something else. It's really nice. - Bring out the knife. Oh, it's so big. - This is the big knife. - [Lincoln] Whoa. - That was scary.
- Yep, that works. The knife works. - All right, this is a TRUBlanket. And this is what Lincoln
has been using in his room and what Claire has
been using in her room. I just wanted to show you box
'cause it's really pretty. Opening it up. And this one comes in the gray color. It has the really, really soft cloth. - It feels good.
- It does feel good. But this one didn't have the weight distribution on either side. It pretty much stayed
the same the whole time. Check this out. Never touch my teddy
bear without permission, except daddy, because I'm special. Or because I wrote that in. This is a TRUBlanket, like on her bed. (energetic music) And this is the one
that Claire's been using for like what, like three weeks or so? - Yeah.
- Yeah. And you can see, like it's
not all weird on the sides. The other one, what
happened to the other one? You didn't like the
other one as much, right? - Mm-mm, when I was sleeping, I would wake up and would be all cold because the blanket would
have fallen off the bed because it was all heavy. - [Dan] Did it scare you 'cause you thought a ghost
took it off your bed? (intense music) - [Lincoln] Yeah. - No (laughs). - [Dan] Lincoln thinks
that that would scare you. - [Lincoln] That would scare you. Like in the middle of the night, all of a sudden, you
just feel just go away. - Oh, yeah. - [Lincoln] It's like a heavy blanket too. (Claire laughs) - No, she's not scared
of ghosts like you are. (energetic music) Okay, we have a bunch of
15 pound weighted blankets. TRUBlanket, weighted blankets. We're gonna see if we can put all of them on Lincoln's head and see if he can walk. - It's gonna hurt my neck. - Sit right here. I'll put them on gently. (energetic music) One. - [Lincoln] It's hot in here. (girls laughing) - [London] Two. - [Lincoln] Ow, ow! (energetic music) - [Dan] Three. - [Lincoln] Ow! - Four. You can't even hear him. (girls laughing) Oh, no, where'd you go? - [Leslie] Stand up! - [Dan] Where's Lincoln? - [Lincoln] I can't. - [Leslie] You can do it. (energetic music) - Oh, my gosh. (Dan laughs) It feels like somebody is just
like pressing down so hard. - This is a lot of weight. Okay, let's try it with Claire. - [Lincoln] It's just the top of it. - [Dan] One. - [Claire] Oh, my gosh, it's so hot. - [Lincoln] Yeah, I know,
that's what I was saying. - Two, three. Four, five. Claire, can you walk? (all laughing) You just leaned forward,
you just nose dived. My turn. - Oh, yay! - Okay, here we go. Keep them centered. - Yep, I'm trying, one. - [Dan] One. Two, oh, that's heavy. - [Lincoln] That's three. - [Dan] Three, it's so heavy! (energetic music) - [Lincoln] Four! - [Claire] That one's hard. - [Lincoln] That one's heavy. - Okay, stand. - [Lincoln] Stand and walk. (Dan groaning) (kids laughing) - It's so heavy, that does not feel safe. How much weight is that? Five blankets times 15 pounds. - The last one is a 20, that
one we put on your head. - Oh, there was a 20 in there? - [Lincoln] A 20 in there. - Okay, so the last one was a 20, so. - It's 15 times five. - A lot, we'll put the math right here. That's how much I had. As soon as I started walking,
I was like, I can do this. And then I'm like, this is dangerous. And so, I had to just throw it off. (London screams) (energetic music) Here we go, number two. (energetic music) Okay, London, lift up both
legs as high as you can. Lift them up, your legs,
these are your legs. - [London] Oh, okay. - [Dan] Lift them up. - [London] I can't. - [Lincoln] Higher, higher. - [Dan] Whoa, can you get up? - Yeah. (energetic music) - It doesn't even feel
any heavier with me on it. - [Claire] How about this? - Ow, your knees hurt! Actually, that didn't hurt that bad. (London screaming) - These blankets are incredibly heavy. But what's really inside of them? (gentle music) - That's so heavy. - Okay, every one of these blankets comes with a zipper on it. Because it's kind of like
a down comforter type thing so that you can wash the outside of this when it gets dirty. So it gives us an easy way to get inside without a knife yet. But that's take a look at the one that's having issues. Everything is falling to one side. When you open it up, there's
a couple things to notice. - There's little pouches. There's little pouches inside of it. - There's all these squares
that are inside of it. And then they're tied
onto the down comforter with these little ties right here. So that means two in the middle, two, four, six, eight. (suspenseful music) Nine, 10, 11. (suspenseful music) 11, 12, so this one has 12 ties. So that's not the problem on this one. Why is the blanket stuff
switching to the bottom? Let's see. - Can you take the ties off? - Let's go down to the bottom and see where it was all bunching up. Oh, yeah, you can feel it right here. These squares are heavier
than these ones over here. So let's compare it to this other one. Okay, so this one has the same thing. It has 12 different ties around the edge. And we've had some other ones that only have four ties on it. And that causes a big problem. - I looks like the pouches are like a fourth of the way smaller than this one. - And you can see these are on like a diamond type angle. - [Lincoln] They're like rotated, yeah. - These ones, you can feel. They look just a little bit tighter. These ones are just so big. Somehow inside of these ones, the fabric is all falling to one side. So whatever's inside of here, whatever's inside of here,
it's not very tightly sewed. - Oh, okay. - [Dan] Let's see what's in this one. (fun music) Okay, ready for me to stab it? - [Lincoln] No, no, no. - [Dan] (laughs) I'm just kidding. - Not right there. (fun music) Whoa. (fun music) Whoa! (fun music) One went directly into my ear. - What the heck? (fun music) Look at this. - There's two. Two little tiny beads
flew directly into my ear. Like, one's in my eardrum. - [Dan] Fairy dust, it's like pixie dust. - It flew right into my ear. - (laughs) They went everywhere. They're like little glass beads. I can't believe how
many were in one pocket. - Oh, my gosh. - And then, oh, my gosh, there's so many. London, come over here,
come check this out. Look what's inside of there. Give me your head. - Do they hurt?
- No. - Why does it look like salt? - Look, they're like little
fairy dust, pixie dust. Okay, so glass beads are the
thing that does the weight. And then you can see it's like just a bunch of cotton in there. - There's so many inside the cotton. - Some of the blankets on the market, they don't really sew this
bottom part that well. And so, you can get all the ones shifting from each one of these pockets, like shifting down into it
and just like piling up. I mean, with the way the sewing is, I can see how the beads
are just going through. All right, let's do the other one. Let's do the TRUBlanket, hold this. - [Lincoln] Let's not
do it this way maybe. (fun music) - That knife is so sharp.
- Okay. (fun music) - Wow.
- Where's the beads? - Where are the beads? They are some in there,
but it's just not as many. - [Lincoln] They're the
same beads, I got one. - Did you get one? Okay, I'm getting some out too. Okay, same type of
beads, just not as many. On the TRUBlanket, we could barely even feel the beads in it 'cause they're so much smaller and they fit within the fabric. And so because of that,
they don't move around and the weight is a bit more evenly distributed around the inside. (energetic music) - Oh, my gosh, whoa! - [Dan] Hold that tight! - You're not doing anything. - It doesn't really work that way. All right. - Oh, my gosh, look at how you threw that. - [Dan] Leave that knife there. Are you impressed with
my knife throwing skills? - I was actually impressed.
- Yes! So weighted blankets are a thing. They are very cool. But make sure you get ones that are built with good enough quality
that they don't shift. 'Cause they are not cheap. They cost anywhere from $100 to three, $400 for different blankets. There's more to the inside that makes the quality of the blanket work well. It's not all about the cost. After I was super disappointed
with that pink blanket, I reached out to TRUBlanket and they sent us a few of these blankets. Yes, we found that the weight
is most distributed inside. It's the one that we like the most. But also, full disclosure, they did sponsor this video
by giving us blankets. But if you are interested
in a weighted blanket, we'll put the link down
below for a TRUBlanket. And let us know what you guys think. Do you like weighted blankets? Do they actually help
you for health reasons? And I am totally sweating outside. So I think it's time to go. - We have so many beads on our patio. Look down there. - It's like somebody broke
some glass or something. (Lincoln laughs) It's like diamonds. What if they were made of diamonds? This blanket would cost a lot more. - Oh, whoa! - That was scary. - I was actually impressed.
