while Crossrail one or the Elizabeth lines we'll call it in this video travels east to west Crossrail two will head south to north linking Surry to Hartford shear via London the exact route of Crossrail two hasn't yet been finalized roughly though it will travel northeast word from stations in Shepparton Hampton Court Chessington south and Epsom the color of the line will be well we don't really know TF ELLs proposed map route from 2015 shows all different kinds of colors including Elizabeth Line purple but in this video we'll use the line Li green that features in the official Crossrail 2 logo the four lines snake up through Surrey Richmond upon Thames Kingston upon Thames Sutton and Merton before converging in rains Park and continuing into central London Crossrail 2 then continues northward intersecting with the Elizabeth line at Tottenham Court Road before reaching new South Gate in Barnet and Brock's born in Hartford here the paradise wildlife park and Lee Valley Boat Centre await it sounds lovely the core section of Crossrail 2 will run from Clapham Junction to Alexandra Palace and taught them how 30 trains per hour will run in each direction here although trains further out will be less frequent it's not yet decided whether the section between Clapham Junction and Wimbledon will run via Balam or Tooting and similarly cross rail to could run between Seven Sisters and new South Gate via either wood green or Turnpike lane cross rail to will serve several major interchanges including Clapham Junction Victoria Tottenham Court Road Seven Sisters and Euston some pancreas yet you heard that right the three major stations at Euston some pancreas and Kings Cross will be linked up with new platforms creating a kind of mega station the platforms will be beneath the Somers Town an area just north of the British Library elsewhere two other stations will be linked up via new platforms this will happen at Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland which will become simply Dalston the only brand new station building for cross rail to however would be a 1 billion pound building on Kings Road in Chelsea some locals are not happy about and it's possible the idea could be scrapped the alternative might be a direct route from Clapham Junction to Victoria but let's face it Chelsea could sorely do with the tube station and better links to the east in fact various plans have tried to push this idea of a Chelsea to Hackney line since the 1970s so far they've all been unsuccessful there has also been talk of a future Eastern branch of cross rail to sprouting from angel to Hackney Central and beyond but this isn't part of the first phase of cross reality so for now a stub tunnel will probably be built to help enable construction of an extension at a later date but and this is a big bar none of this is certain yet because the future of cross rail to is not clear as the route hasn't yet been finalised it hasn't even been submitted to Parliament yet TfL plan though is to submit a hybrid bill in 2022 which would then take around two years to get Royal Assent and even then there is the question of funding TfL gave a baseline estimate of 30 billion pounds for cross rail - but that's at 2014's prices the final bill could come in significantly higher let's not forget the Elisabeth line is already way over schedule and billions over budget both TfL and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan suggest that cross rail to could and should still be completed in the 2030s but they admit there are questions of where all that money would come from and less optimistic forecasts suggest for cross rail to could be put on the backburner or scrapped altogether but even so much as a longer delay to cross rail - could spell chaos for cheap lines which are already overcrowded with London's population set to be over 10 million by the 2030s can you imagine what the Northern Line will be like by then London needs cross rail to and in our opinion the sooner the better oh one more question assuming cross rail to does happen what would it be called seeing as cross rail will be the Elizabeth Wein calling cross rail to the Philip Line would certainly give some continuity we're not sure everyone would be keen on the name though you [Music]
