with London's population expected to grow to thirteen point three million people by 2050 more and more people are looking to travel putting even more pressure on an already congested transport network with one point seven billion journeys a year as of 2018 transport for London's rail network is looking to expand with cross rail one close to completion that's hope and crossroad two already in its planning stage what are the transport solutions is London proposing by 2050 so let's start with the tube lines the northern line is one of London's busiest lines the first scheme is something many of you probably have heard of which is the extension from Kennington to Battersea Power Station with a stop at nine Elms thus is to serve the new nine arms development which is currently happening and is expected to be completed in autumn 2021 it is currently on schedule the second Northern Line extension is not that well known but is logical which is the continuation for Battersea Power Station - Clapham Junction where we'll connect a crossroad to the overground and South Western and Southern Railways this is expected to cost approximately 300 million pounds as a capital cost and affect about 50 million people with the completion date of 2045 it will be based on the impacts of cross road - moving away from the northern line we have the Bakerloo line extensions planned by 2040 the route is extending down from Elephant & Castle to Lewisham with stops at Old Kent Road 1 & 2 yes there are two stations as well as New Cross Gate will connect with the overground network there is a second phase plan which allows the line to continue further east to haze and Beckenham Junction this was originally envisioned to be completed by 2040 at a cost of approximately 2.2 to 2.6 billion pounds allowing for an extra 200 million journeys but is currently on a hold due to funding issues the DLR also has several rail schemes proposed one of which is the opening of a new station at Thames Wharf located between Canning Town and West Silver town the next proposed ELR change is the closure of tower gateway station on the DLR and forming one route direct bank an underground DLR station will be created at our hill this is planned for 2050 and will cost approximately 18 million pounds a business case is still required for this also good news part of the DLR is now being proposed from light tube by the end of 2022 now let's move on to the beloved cross rail or the Elisabeth line as it's now Accord with a large section already out in the 2020 tube maps the London infrastructure plan is planned for further expansion the first being the completion of the core section between Paddington and Liverpool Street within Eastern extension heading down to a B would buy a canary wharf and will itch it is expected to be completed by 2021 hopefully the second upgrade is the spur up to Watford possibly even up to Tring to relieve congestion on Euston station and the West Coast Main Line but it will be dependent on how hs2 gets constructed this is planned by 2026 at an estimated capital cost of one hundred and fifty million pounds towards the eastern end of the Willetts branch there was also a further extension to Dar fitoor ABS fleet by 2030 depended on growth towards the western end of the Heathrow branch the lines will extend to Heathrow Terminal five with other Elizabeth line taking over he for express routes in the 2030s this will mean semi-fast transwarp rate between Paddington and Heathrow Airport cross rod 2 is also in the works with a route being proposed between various stations of the current South Western Railway through Clapham Junction Victoria Tottenham Court Road forming a mega station at Euston Kings crossing pancreas and upwards towards northeast London terminating at Brock's Byrne and new South Gate and Easton extension to Hackney is also being proposed this is expected to cost upwards of 20 billion pounds and to be completed by the early 2030s it is also important to note that hs2 will run from Euston out of Birmingham and potentially further up north with a stop at old oak common forming another mega station let's move on to the overground now and this is a biggie first off we have the four point five mile extension from barking - barking riverside with an expected opening month of December 2021 this is currently on track excuse the pun the second Overground row upgrade is the formation of two new stations one called odo common Lane and the other hive road at odo common a new Western multimodal hub with connections with hs2 and the Elizabeth line the other ground is also proposing a completely new line adding to an already complex network connecting Hounslow Brentford Acton odo Coleman Halston knees Dhin before splitting in two with one branch heading up to Brent Cross and Hendon whilst the other goes down towards Cricklewood and West Hampstead possibly on the existing tamron's tracks this is plan beyond 2040 and is predicted to have a capital cost of about 300 million pounds but a business case has already been put together for this finally let's not forget about the trams there are various small improvements to the croydon tram link however an entirely new route is being proposed it will link poorly connected Sutton to either Wimbledon south Lebanon or Collier's Wood and that's it this is what the two map will look like by 2050 if you did like this click that like button and let us know in the comments below if you want to see more videos like this where there be how much it will cost to upgrade the deep-level tube lines national rail upgrades around London or even one of the new 12 river crossings proposed anyway until next time thanks for watching
