so [Music] so [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] this is a pretty fun looking meal he made for us thanks some sweet potato taco bowls looks it looks like a very healthy meal welcome back to another week of what's for dinner today is gosh wednesday wednesday wednesday already today we've had a busy busy week yep very busy of stuff yesterday i counted your jars your canning session you did yesterday you did 34 pints and 14 quarts of food you put up yesterday yeah plus you did spinach today too first time we ever tried the canned spinach how did it go for you good i mean i cheated and did the non-blanching method and had some rise in the jars i'm sure i'll post a video or a picture of it on instagram but i'm happy to have it canned up um so what's for dinner these are last year's sweet potatoes i still had like seven left or something like that so using them up before we harvest this year's sweet potatoes it's our own home canned corn our own carrots our home raised canned chicken our homegrown peach salsa our salsa our tomatoes the only thing store bought were the limes and the beans that i did can and the cheese thanks good job thanks my first bite was very good what else we've been working on we our freeze dryer has been running we have two trays of celery from all the celery harvested and then we we took one of the bags of blueberries that we had still in the freezer from last year and we're giving it a try a freeze drying our own we've tried before pre-bought freeze dried blueberries and we didn't really like them we didn't really like the texture so we thought let's try to do some of our own and see how that turns out so we got to pull those those are done we got to pull those out of the freeze dryer tonight get them sealed up and preserved sounds good blueberry harvest is almost done the last plant out there is is getting close although yesterday when i was out there we've been putting some bird netting over them yesterday when i walked by out there another robin got inside there and was trapped and couldn't figure out how to get out so i i released it i'm sure he could survive [Music] i i just wanted to say about tonight's dinner you guys saw that i threw those jars on the microwave like the corn and the beans to heat up that just makes it so simple like you can't do that with store-bought cans you have to put them in a container and when you have your own jars you can just throw them right in the microwave to heat up it makes it so convenient we did come up with it rachel came up with an idea for oh new videos a new video series we're gonna have to play around with a little bit first to see how it's gonna work out because the timing of filming it is not as easy but i think it could turn out to be a really cool series to share with you guys we'll share some more info on it once we hash out some of the details a little bit more yeah stick around more to come yep see you next time we cook which will probably be tomorrow thursday and i think we're having shrimp shrimp basil garlic something [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] much [Music] so [Music] smells really good thanks i hope you like it i'm sure i will two different variations for today's dinner i wanted mine with pasta rachel wanted hers with grilled roasted zucchini so you just tossed your zucchini in the airfryer it works really well it's really handy for quick simple things that you just want to like cook fast you know without making a big giant mess granny you got to clean the drawer thing but no it's nice it doesn't heat up the kitchen at all that's what i like about it like versus running the oven this was the who was beeping this was the last of our bag of shrimp from walmart and i was telling rachel a couple weeks ago i really want to find a place online where we can order us some real shrimp gulf shrimp from the gulf down south whether it's louisiana somewhere down there yeah so if you guys know of a good source let us know somebody that you've tried before and it works good where they like pack them up when those styrofoam things with dry ice and ship them typically looking for crawfish and shrimp sources yeah so we want to have like a big um oh i just want some good shrimp at some point but we want to do like a crawfish shrimp boil with the with our family at some point this fall and the shrimp that you get at walmart comes from china and i'm like we have shrimp in the united states why can't i just get my don't say china on the bench it does yes it does wow so i don't want to get it from far far away when it's right here so the other portion of our meal the shrimp was cooked in butter we used garlic scape pesto some normal garlic a bunch of fresh basil chopped up from the garden some cherry tomatoes from the garden that you just picked about 10 minutes before i sliced them open and basil from the garden and basil was from the garden today too a little bit of lemon juice salt pepper a little bit of white wine a little parmesan cheese at the end that turn out good [Music] it's like a dream in my mouth i hope it tastes like what i imagined it to in my head oh my goodness the zucchini with it so so good i'm really trying to stay [Music] i've done this many many times and with the summer garden here it's so easy to do to stay away from carbs just we watched a video the other day about how bad carb refined processed carbs are in the american culture versus whole grain what it used to be carbs and anytime i watch those videos it reminds me why i started doing this to begin with right to get back to real whole foods yeah and this is a great alternative i mean what we could have tried was that spiral slicer thing you bought you bought that spiralizer thing i'll have to try that with some zucchini see how it turns out it would have been that kind of even cool in this dish yeah oh so good my goodness thank you pretty fresh mm-hmm not too much else going in we don't have plans for the dinner for the rest of the week nothing planned but i'm sure we'll cook at least one more time today's thursday only other thing going on is you know what our um our pups our two little dogs our little brown dog and her black dog the black one is mika and she's kind of sick i had to take her to the vet this morning and she has stones in her bladder yeah lots of bladder stones lots and a uti a bladder stones like it looking at the x-ray it was like oh my gosh it looked like she ate a whole bunch of jelly beans right or even marbles some of them look like half the size of her bladder and it's like why are you not crying yeah we just knew something was wrong because she was peeing we would go outside and she would pee like five times in 10 minutes sometimes more than yeah so so we knew something was up took her to the vet they can do surgery you can change diet you can do different things we're gonna definitely change the diet going forward and probably opt in to do the surgery thing it's expensive but yeah just our little pup so i mean she's only seven so early she's got lots of years left in her so might as well get it treated properly so we'll see you next time we cook [Music] do [Music] [Music] you want to be with me [Music] is this your pioneer woman recipe again yeah mostly i i didn't remember exactly what i put in it so i just made it up this time based on memory so i think i got it right we'll see tastes good welcome back to what's for dinner today is sunday july 31 31 31 today is baby day if you didn't hear that baby day second grand baby probably not coming till tomorrow but week overdue so heading to the hospital this evening for starting the induction process yep should be exciting it will be another bb boy another grandson i'll be coming to grandpa and granny camp at some point yes can't wait so wish them luck say good prayers i'm sure by the time you guys see this he'll already be yeah probably in the world good prayers for recovery and first-time parents so you know how that is if you're a parent and uh but they stay calm and peaceful and adjust i'm having coleslaw with my not coleslaw but my quick refrigerator pickled cabbage with my sloppy joe mix this open face on a bun i did not even make a side dish today a lot of times when we do sloppy joes we'll do tater tots or something but i just didn't feel like cooking today i don't think you felt like cooking we spent close to four hours or you easily four hours this morning peeling chopping all of the onions from our garden they've all been harvested yep there's a slow roaster over 18 quart slow roaster over there that is packed to the brim with onions making caramelized onions and maple onion jam yup the rest of them got chopped and put in the freezer mm-hmm and just enjoying our sunday yeah we both decided to try to take it easy today had a long busy day yesterday so no new updates on our pup that is not well i'm gonna be calling a vet on monday to try to get her an appointment get her scheduled for her surgery but i think she has to have blood work first and then they do the surgery within seven days of having the blood work so we'll keep you guys posted on our little puppy as well she's not puppy but she acts like she acts like when she's the young one so we call her the pup so yeah she's eight years old i checked back to see if there was any questions i think he's seven years old q a seven yeah um checked back nothing jumped out there is anything like earth shattering to share with everyone yeah a lot of common things that come up over and over like what's that tool that you use to open your jars we've answered that many many many times how many acres of land do we have here we have about seven just a lot of questions that we've asked answered not that we mind don't mind answering them again but yeah most of our viewers always new people coming by so we're gonna wrap up this week and we'll see you on the next video sounds good
