What Would Your Kid Do: SERIES 2 - Episode 2 (Part 1)

[Applause] how well do you know your own kids let's just say if the answer was clear they wouldn't have asked us to make a second series tonight we're joined by three families the grown-ups will be staying here with me in the studio to see what happens when their kids are transported to a school rigged with hidden cameras the kids think they're off for a regular day at school but really we're gonna be watching them so that we can see how well their parents know them by asking one very simple question what would your kid do should we meet the kids please give a warm welcome to Jake [Applause] Jake nice to meet it where'd you come from today Harlow Essex lovely and who have you brought with you I thought my mommy and daddy yeah what are they called Hester and daddys and Trevor lovely be a bit weird if I call Trevor daddy yes and what do mommy or daddy do for a job come on who works on the plan that he does what does mommy do wanna play and she works Jake I'm not from the HMRC I'm not a mom do you feel like you know Jake when he's not in your actual care when he's at school or with somebody else no I think we've got a clue not a clue I think it's so predictable I mean look if you like me when you get the school reports with your kids did you like yeah I don't know who that is [Laughter] nice to see you wherever you come from today who have you brought with you Emily and Martin I heard that you also like telling jokes what's your favorite joke Elsa Penguins to the beach we've no idea flipper and you're actually a big fan of penguins that you know what what you got your favorite animal the cheetah here on that mom you look surprised there at the the cheetah which is worrying for the rest of the show generally yes but she has unpredictable moments yeah Lazare hello so who have you brought with you today lasagna mommy and summer and summer they said someone there no that's all I knew summer to you is your auntie okay so there's a oh is it true that you've been telling people at school you've got a certain Godfather who've you been telling everybody is your Godfather Jason mate you have lots of parents as well [Music] [Laughter] [Music] Oh be honest you came for the free childcare so for the little ones it's just a regular day at school but for the grown-ups they're the ones who need to sit up and pay attention remember it's not about the kids whether they're good or bad or right and wrong it's about how well you can predict what they'll do if you are wrong the kids will forgive you in about 15-20 years time whoever most accurately predicts their child's behavior will get to play for some amazing family prizes okay it is time to join the kids for science class and are they learning about plants or space or computers no slime [Music] when you're young it's all about getting what you want who likes everybody you're gonna have to share aren't you but even at the age of five kids are beginning to understand that sometimes you have to share why do you think it's important to be able to share guys lasagna do you get that from your parents mommy and daddy were shared us with me when I share things with my little sister she doesn't share back I really can't share a few of my special things now it's time to wash your hands kids with the science lesson over the kids think they're getting some slime think you deserve some to take home don't you come over here then we're gonna grab a jar but what they don't know is we're actually gonna be exploring their willingness to share so I put enough slime in the machine for everybody but as long as you only press the button once okay okay it's gonna grab some more jars while you're doing that the kids have been told that they can only push the button once to ensure there is enough for all of the children but when left alone will Jake Elsa and Liz aya press the button again and take more than their fair share so the teacher has left the kids alone with the slime machine they've been told to just press the button once to make sure that there's enough slime for everyone but will your kid press the button more than once families let's lock in our answers okay so what about Jake you reckon you won't be able to resist I don't think and Elsa you also think that she'll press it more than once absolutely yeah I'm not sure she'll think past the fact it's slime she's not being allowed to have that okay lasagna we don't think she'll press the button because the teacher said that there wouldn't be enough for anybody else so if nobody I was caught to have none and she knew it was because of her she wouldn't make happy do you agree with that summer yeah okay well that's a nice thought you have seen this show before [Laughter] I love this moment where you still got hope let's find out if you're right okay [Laughter] [Music] something happens pressed it once but it was right there I pressed there another time so it did you press it more than once yeah that will be a well I don't know kami bit that's okay isn't it cuz we're gonna share out we with everything I like sure enough my dropped you have to take some home yeah I can't believe that's happened so Liz aya I want to cry so one point for you for getting it right the thing with Jake was that he did actually complain didn't he did say I did press it more than once and that's why it's happened whereas Elsa it's a mystery so after that the scores look like this all our families off to a flying start with one points back to the classroom now and the kids are learning all about responsibility with the help of some very special friends let's take a look [Music] hi everybody I've got a special surprise for you as cute as they are the puppies are here to help the children learn about responsibility always looking after a pet is a responsible job and by the age of five children are ready to take on responsibilities get the washing now oh [Music] really junk sounds like your parents are working you like a dog I bet you love doing jobs don't you Elsa so just how responsible are Jake Elsa and Isaiah I'm so glad you're here can you come here and give me a hand I just put this display of posters up I put this in just the right position blu-tack so could you hold it for me just in the corners two corners here hold it tight don't let it move because that's the perfect position keep holding onto it tight I'll get some blu-tack now be a minute the kids think they're helping the teacher with an important task lovely I'll be back in a minute with some blue tack okay hold it tight for me but when we throw a series of distractions at them will they be able to be responsible and stay at their post all will the desire to play with the puppies proved too irresistible this one is little girl I'm sure you can manage they're not very good Daisy will they stay at their posts despite the distracting puppies families let's lock in our answers you've gone for Wow so you all think that they'll stay in position the thing with Jake I mean he's what are you cleaning the bath every day I'm taking to wash it out is all that true what everyone no it's not true but whatever we do ask Amy does the bare minimum yes Alex that's was I've seen him and I think okay it's somebody else asking him I could teach her I think he will yeah I think he'll stay they just like to be a good helper just not all right so to recap you all think that your kids will stay at their post let's see if you're right the dog [Music] let this cool [Music] nice okay bother you trying to get you a little boost don't let them down oh I think he likes the ring hello what's happened here so Jake you never left the poster no to be not hard well done you were being responsible weren't you for my poster it was trying to help me he did you stop because you decided you wanted to play with the dog yeah yeah so then it all came out what's it like being responsible for something like that really hard and freaky he was properly like can't let the teachers down where is Elsa really the only way she has rats in she got someone else to do the job before she showed initiative she delegated no he's quite right and then blame them when he went wrong I think she'll make a very good manager one day let's see what that's done to the scores Elsa has one point but the zyre and Jake have two points now for the kids it's time for their next lesson and for the parents it's a lesson in how well they know their own children let's see who learns the most when they're five years old life is one big game [Music] because all you really want to do is win so now we are gonna play a game called hide the block put your hands over your eyes no peeking are you ready yeah warp starting now Wow a competitive spirit is a healthy part of a five year olds life and in order to succeed sometimes you need to be flexible with the truth if you don't tell the truth like the boy app cried Wow okay real so you be careful what you say the age of five most children know that lying isn't something you should do but when faced with a reward children will often bend the truth I know it cuz I know that says so to see how flexible Jake Elsa and Lazar are with the truth we've set up again for this game I want you to build me the tallest tower you can build okay one on top of the other the kids think they are simply having to build the highest tower we've got a leaderboard here we're at the end I'm going to record your score and now the winner of the moment San Jose got how many yeah he's got 26 blocks in his Tower that's the tallest how that anyone's got 26 is the score to beat and if they manage it they will get the special gold star say I'm just gonna go and get something while you play the game are you ready yeah three two one go I'll see you in a minute so left alone and knowing the score to beat will they be honest or will they cheat I know I can do this [Music] so the kids have been left to build their own towers and keep their own score but will your kid lie about the score in order to win it's time for the important question what would your kid do families please lock in your answers so mazaya we think that she'll definitely tell the truth I mean she said in there then she says he never lies I think the way she got that from you think Jake will tell a pork is he prone to the odd white light at home to win to win because because there's a targhee yeah you'll make up that he's beaten to win well we're number yeah and you think Elsa will be honest yeah yeah yes okay let's see if you're right [Music] in hyah [Music] [Music] okay [Applause] [Music] ah [Applause] [Music] and you winding me up time is up now so you can stop building so tell me how many blocks did you get in your tallest tower [Music] what numbers back 20 yeah hi my name is that 27 highest I got with 27 that's the highest or we've ever had whoo well done Jake you're the top of our leaderboard how do you feel okay [Music] you were very surprised very well slightly proud maths at all no and Jake as well yeah I expect expect it I'm surprised I didn't say something like a hundred and twenty yeah yeah love is all right well let's see what that's done to the scores that's else's family with only one point but Jake analyst ayah up there with three points in the lead [Applause]
