hi i'm candice and you're watching homeschool on the hill and today i'm sharing what we're reading in our homeschool for april 2021. i want to welcome you back if you are a returning subscriber and if you are new here and you like these what we're reading videos then please click the subscribe button because i do post these videos monthly here on my channel throughout the homeschool year now i want to start with my read alouds but i want to let those of you who are new to my channel know that i'm going to mention some book shark materials just know the book shark materials that i share in my videos have been given to my family in exchange for my review i have lots of information on bookshark in the description box below their website how you can get a discount code my bookshark playlist we this is our fifth year using bookshark in my in our home school so lots of bookshark videos i have and i've shared a lot here on my channel so starting with the read-alouds i shared last month we would be starting this book the story that cannot be told um it is set in communist romania and um i would say like we're getting closer to the end it's picking up a little bit it has some um exciting moments but um it also has some chapters that are just like yeah so so anyway i think it'll pick up a bit by the end um this is not this is not one of my boys favorites um but i don't think it's bad and then we are moving into actually i've been wanting to get into this book i've been looking forward to this book um and it is made you look how advertising works and why you should know so i really think this is going to be a fun read um and i can let you guys know next month it's not like your typical read-alouds will probably just all kind of like sit on the couch together um so that you know they can look but i'm looking forward to getting into this next up i want to share what my 10th grader has been reading independently now he is using bookshark's world historical literature program and so these selections are from that program i shared last month he was finishing up all quiet on the western front um he actually really liked this right up until about the end and then he said like he felt like it was just kind of dragging on and it was like time to end the book but he really really enjoyed this and i think i shared that last month and then he was supposed to move into night which he's already read um and i just want to say thank you to sam for commenting um that there is also dawn and day in that trilogy i had no idea it was a trilogy um and i did end up finding a copy of dawn um but i wanted to read it before he read it and i didn't have time to do that so i'm just gonna keep it on the bookshelf and so he'll probably get into it at some other point but i went ahead and let him move into uh first they killed my father he is going to be in this for the rest of the month and i already listened to this on hoopla on audio so um you know it's just better for me to be able to discuss it with him of course i have the um discussion questions and answers in my bookshark instructor's guide but yeah he's going to be in this for a while and now for my seventh grader i'm actually going to have to insert a picture here of the book he's currently reading i shared last month he would be moving into the bedouins gazelle and he is currently reading that book like currently at this moment while i am filming this video so i don't have it down here to hold up so i'm just inserting a picture um i didn't expect this to be one that he loved um you know reading the back cover and something about you know the the one of the main characters you know finding his beloved i'm like nah that's that's definitely not my um seventh graders language but he is um currently finishing up with that and he's supposed to move into uh this biography here on leonardo da vinci and i don't know he's not really looking forward to this one so i don't know if we're gonna switch something out um probably just give it a go see how it goes and um if we have to just go ahead and move into the next election we will now i'm currently in his downtime uh he has been listening to the harry potter series and he finished the first book up and now he's in the second book so he's really enjoying that and just kind of on his own that's not assigned so anyway he he does he does enjoy reading when it's something like you know the lightning thief or um right now even just listening to the harry potter books he's loving that um but i know he's not really looking forward to reading this biography so i don't know what i'm gonna do because i know the other books um that he still has in this level because oh he's using book sharks reading with history level g i meant to say that um and so i don't know i'm not sure what we're going to do there but i will share with you guys next month how this goes if you read the whole thing if we just move into one of the next books in the level i'll let you guys know so last for what i'm reading i recently finished up maeve benji's the glass lake i shared this last month and i finally finished it up it's one of my favorite made benchy books it was really really good and i am currently reading the crucible which is a part of my 10th grader's world historical literature program from bookshark and i'd never read it before so i thought i would go ahead and read it before he read it i'll probably finish it up in the next night or so and i'm not sure what i'm going to read next i i kind of want to read redeeming love again so i have a copy here at the house or um i have some made benchy books here at the house that i haven't read yet so i might get into one of those really not sure um i still am listening to audiobooks on the hoopla app i shared last month i was enjoying doing that and so um i have listened to fahrenheit 451 which i've never read before and wow it was incredible and i am currently listening to boundaries so that's what i'm reading what i'm listening to and this is the part of the video when i invite you to share with me what you are reading share what your kids are reading whatever you want to share in the comments section below i always enjoy reading your comments and i get new ideas from you guys so please share below what you are reading as always you guys i want to thank you so much for watching and i'll see you later bye you
