On today's Star Wars legends lore, video we designed the perfect fleet using ships from every era and faction (Intro: Home - Resonance) Hey guys, this is EckhartsLadder. Hello and Welcome to another Star Wars Legends Lore video. Today we will be looking at fleet building within the Star Wars Legends Universe any faction or era can be Included and the only rule is that we will assume that there is some resource scarcity I'll get to that more as I actually look at the ships because there are no real rules Here's how I'll provide some structure to the discussion first off we'll start looking at each ship type within the Star Wars universe all the way from Corvettes up to dreadnoughts and Flagships once we've picked the ships will talk about fleet composition and general strategy So let's get started and I want to go over my philosophy when it comes to picking ships I like specialized ship types and I like ships that complement each other I like when different parts of the fleet can each do a different role I kept this in mind when looking at Corvettes And I ended up choosing the CR 90 probably the most famous Corvette within the Star Wars universe The CR 90 is fast Incredibly well armed and it's modular the only real weakness that it has is the blind spot at the end of the craft But when working in a fleet, it should be possible to protect against this as I alluded to a second ago The CR 90 is heavily configurable in my fleet I would swap out all but one of the standard guns for laser cannons and would leave only the heavy cannon at the top as A turbo laser this ship would thus work excellently in an anti Starfighter rule I would also like to add some Braja talk gun ships to serve as even smaller faster support craft Aiding the CR 90 in screening against fighters moving up The next ship class is frigates And we have to be careful here because some ships like the munificent Call themselves frigates when they're actually cruisers destroyers or some other ship types and the opposite is also true My favorite frigate is the character which beats out the MC 30 Which is almost 200 meters longer and the iconic nebulan B, although it's not by any means a pretty ship The carrick is incredibly practical It's well armed, armored, shielded and very versatile. The most notable aspect of the character However, is it's an credible speed It was nearly as fast as a Starfighter making it dangerous, especially when working in packs The carrick also came with two weapon loadouts the first had flak and ion cannons meant to screen against enemy fighters and the others had A focus on turbo lasers this allows one forget type to support the fleet in numerous ways. Not in like the CR 90 It's no surprise that the carrick was used by basically every faction in Star Wars all the way into the legacy era Let's look at the next ship. And neither of the previous two vessels have carried star fighters. I want a ship that can further more, I want a ship that's a dedicated carrier with all of its interior space designed to bring star fighters into battle. There aren't many dedicated carriers in the Star Wars universe, So if I had the resources, I would go with a Executor or a Venator carrier However, because those ships are so expensive and they were typically used for another purpose I'd most likely go with the Quasar class carrier, which is an affordable alternative I would also like an Interdictor which is basically a ship capable of producing an interdiction field which pulls other ships out of hyperspace and Prevents them from jumping. Well, that's spoiling too much. Although my flagship does have interdiction capabilities I would like a couple of backup cruisers just in case something happens to it. These could be cheap I would keep them spread throughout the fleet and really their only purpose would be to prevent enemy ships from fleeing. The next step up would be the destroyer class And I mean this in a traditional naval sense not a star destroyer. For destroyer You want a ship that's fast and has a decent amount of firepower The best example of this that I can think of is likely the Victory II which was lighter and smaller than the Imperial line But still covered in turbo lasers and able to take a beating. Alternatively I do like the Confederacy of Independent Systems munificent class frigate because it's powerful for its size and it has those unique Long-range turbo lasers, but ultimately it's fairly significantly outgunned by the victory. The destroyer is a unique ship It's not a mainline cruiser, but it's not a support ship it kind of falls into that middle role for that reason I think the Victory II would be a good choice now we get to the big ships and probably the most difficult to define Category, the cruisers, based on what I hope to be a sensible progression and ship size I'm going to call anything about the size of a Star Destroyer. So 2 kilometers or less a cruiser for me It's always a contest between the firepower of the Imperial two Star Destroyer and the shielding and excellent design of the Mon Calamari Cruiser Thankfully in the legends. There is the MC 90 which was the first Mon Cala Cruiser created for the New Republic This has the shielding and the halt strength that you would expect from on Calamari Cruiser But also matches the firepower of an imperial star destroyer. I also loved the design of the MC 90s So these will be the main cruisers in my fleet I just want to acknowledge that the legacy era actually does these ships really well to the Pellion class Star Destroyer or the MC? 140 scythe for example are the perfect mix of what you'd expect in a ship that size however because using the legacy era and the 100 your time gap does sort of seem like Cheating and the ships are really only better because there is a technological advantage I'm not inclined to include them above the cruiser but below the dreadnought is the battleship I like my battleships to be pure Offensive tools and they along with the cruisers will make up the bulk firepower of the fleet for that reason I really like the allegiance class Star Destroyer though. It is a little small at only 2,200 meters closer to a dreadnought size would be the bellator which comes in at 7 kilometers But I think that ship is a little too large to properly be considered a battleship which is a shame because I really like its mix of speed and Weaponry the allegiance though is a heavy Star Destroyer both in name and function and is basically an upscaled Imperial 2 model I'm totally ok with this ship being focused almost solely on putting out damage because it does have the support of the rest of the fleet battleships don't necessarily operate effectively on their own but in these situations I think it's supported enough that this very aggressive specialized role fits nicely Another ship which straddles the line between battle cruiser and dreadnought which I would like to include in The fleet would be the parade or mark 2 despite some design differences It really is just a further upscaling of the Allegiant Star Destroyer But whether that's properly a dreadnought or a battle cruiser is up for debate, finally We have our dreadnought and I covered the best dreadknot in my opinion in Star Wars legends in yesterday's video You can watch that if you'd like to see my reasoning But I came to the conclusion that the Eclipse Class Super Star Destroyer is the best flagship that you could have for your fleet Nothing has changed in the one day since I made that video So that would be the largest the heaviest and the center ship Within my fleet if I were lucky enough to have a second dreadnought I would choose the ViCAP because it has the firepower of the executor class super stardestroyer with vastly improved technology and shielding There's really few ships and Star Wars legends that come close to both the Eclipse and the Viking beyond the flagship We also have miscellaneous support craft and star fighters. We'll look first at star fighters. I think here variety is key You don't want to be like the Empire which uses the same cheap star fighters over and over again I would have a key multi-role fighter and I think I would choose the x-wing this is the most common fighter in the fleet It's the one that can do everything. However, it would have to be supported by bombers Interceptors and I believe heavy bombers like be wings to truly be effective if possible I'd obviously like to include various Special Forces prototype or advanced fighter models. I'm thinking Thai defenders or ships like that But again that ultimately comes to resources. Let's talk fleet design and strategy however I think the key here is the Eclipse Not only does that ship have its mighty super laser, which can decimate an enemy fleet in a single shot But it also has interdiction capabilities and what how's your high-ranking officials? This ship needs to be protected at all cost an example of a strong fleet and one that makes sense Organizationally can actually be seen in the comic that introduced the Eclipse the dark Empire series there we see the Imperial fleet around Biss The Biss fleet is structured such that there are a few very large ships as we'd have here including dreadnaughts and battle cruisers But then an increasing number of cruisers forgets and even smaller ships when resource scarcity is a thing That's the kind of fleet. That makes sense You would likely only have one dreadnought perhaps two in extreme cases Then you would have several supporting battleships a large number of cruisers Which would make up the bulk of your firepower and then an even higher number of frigates? Corvettes and other support ships the cruisers and larger ships would be focused primarily on outputting damage and taking out enemy ships carriers destroyers and interdict errs would all fulfill their specialized role while Corvettes and other small ships would primarily Protect the larger ships against smaller threat like starfighters and gunships this I think is pretty close to my ideal fleet I would also like to include some support ships For example modular task force cruisers can serve as mobile mission platforms things like gr 75 s can be used to transport supplies and other ships just to help when not Necessarily in battle those like the carriers or other vulnerable ships would have to either jump away during any major Engagements or stay towards the center of the fleet protected by heavier ships, but this has all just been my opinion Am I missing a ship type? Is there one of your favourite ships that I didn't include? Make sure to let me know your ideal fleet down in the comments. Again those categories were dreadnought battleship cruisers destroyers interdict errs carriers frigates Corvettes and then star fighters Let me know what your makeup would be. Anyway, as always guys.
