[Music] welcome to the introduction to sauce labs for automated testers in this presentation we'll go over the different features and functionality sas labs provides for automated testers let's start with something simple what is sauce labs well it's a testing platform that provides services to companies looking to test web and mobile applications why sauce labs well one of the advantages is it gives your entire team access to all the latest devices so you can test early and often on all operating systems soft labs also gives its users the power of concurrency where soft labs really shines is the ability to do automated testing and live testing that allows customers to run tests on a huge amount of real devices virtual devices and desktop browsers sas labs gives its users the power of concurrency you can run hundreds of tests at the same time in parallel not only does it speed up time from production to launch when you can test on such a wide variety of devices you minimize the risk of losing revenue and reputation the breadth of coverage on sauce labs means a higher quality user experience for your customers now let's talk about how saucelabs works you start out with test scripts written in selenium appium or another framework you set the capabilities in your test to communicate with sauce labs you can use the soft connect proxy or another secure connection to connect your internal testing servers once you have your automated tests set up with sauce labs you have access to hundreds of single-use virtual machines and real devices using the sauce labs platforms means you will have the ability to test on thousands of different environments and can speed up your testing by running tests in parallel in addition the saucelabs dashboards make it easy to share test results across teams and departments with access to insights and analytics to speed up the process of locating and fixing issues and bugs now let's take a look at the sauce labs user interface you can see here in the automated test results dashboard a number of tests that have been run and the different operating systems and browsers that these tests have been run on if you switch to real devices you can see different real mobile devices and browsers that have had automated tests run against them in the live testing interface you can see the wide variety of devices available on our public cloud all of these devices are available for both live and automated testing along with a robust set of virtual devices live testing is a useful tool for debugging automated tests you can recreate any issues that are surfaced when your tests are run and debug test failures the live testing capability comes with any automated sauce lab subscription and customers have the option to purchase private devices for their own dedicated testing use if you switch to the virtual browser tests you can also see the wide range of options available for desktop testing as well as the different mobile virtual machines available why test with sauce labs the advantage of testing with sauce labs is that in addition to the many environments available to test in we support a wide variety of testing frameworks drivers and programming languages allowing teams and individuals across an organization to test the way that they want share data and get analytics and insights that they can share now let's take a look at the test details page where you can get information to better understand your test results from the automated tests page you can click on any one of your test names to access the test results page you can easily share this url with anyone in your organization to better coordinate your testing efforts the test details page provides video of your tests running screenshots of important interactions and commands logs of information passed and metadata about the test and environment at the bottom of the test details page you can find the network and performance tabs here you will find metrics on front-end performance to help you improve the user interaction experience you can detect and resolve front-end performance issues early in the development life cycle by improving your front-end performance before your apps go live you can improve customer experience and develop better apps faster with the sauce labs platform you also have the insights tool which allows you to gather data and trends over time about tests run against your application these data and trends help teams work cross-functionally towards continuous integration and provide information and trends that help make debugging tests easier the last key feature to point out is sauce connect sauce lab secure proxy tunnel to use sauce connect all you need to do is download and install the sas connect software copy the commands from the sauce labs ui and then run them in terminal or command line on your computer this will set up a secure connection where you can safely send data for connecting through a firewall many companies use sos connect to protect customer data and test against a secure internal development server in addition to these features sas labs also offers visual testing with screener to test visual components across browsers and environments headless testing to speed up automated testing without a visual interface and the sas test runner tool kit with this tool you can test on sauce labs with non-selenium frameworks such as cypress and test cafe to learn more about sauce labs automation and features visit training.saucelabs.com [Music]
