That looks awesome, and it doesn't feel like it would stray too far from vanilla. Great work!

This was so much fun to work on.

This is the coolest one yet. Tango keeps uping the ante with each of these

I think thi one fits the best of his What If series so far. (Though the Lava Kraken may be a good fit too)

Honestly, Minecraft does need some super intense structures and puzzles. Use the redstone you have build Mojang! Make cool traps and puzzles!

And please, someday update the old structures. Villages, desert wells, temples (desert and jungle) and even igloos all seem so...blah now compared to the monument and woodlands mansion.

That was great. my only critique would be that the sarcophagus looked out of place. Much more detailed that what is normally found in the Minecraft palate. Maybe it’s because of the angles of the lid. Also would have loved to see a boss health bar.

I can see myself setting up the room before the fight with splash potion dispensers all around the room. Still looks like a challenging fight either way, which we don’t have much of in the game currently.

Keep doing what you’re doing Tango, it’s great.

Awesome! Quite like the idea I (and lots of other people, too) had.

For example, in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/7eb4qg/survival_doesnt_need_to_be_larger_it_needs_to_be/ I mentioned

They need to come up with a similar idea, and use it with new, larger desert (and jungle) temples. Make 1 of every 10 of them be the new, larger version, filled with random traps and pitfalls. Then, you need to face off against the Boss mob (Mummy?) while suffering from that new de-buff (can't place blocks? Have blindness?, whatever).

and

I'm thinking it is (as I mentioned) only found in new, larger Desert Temples, in an inner room. it is surrounded by a 'sandstorm' (particle effects, like with lingering potions) that inflicts damage and blindness when it touches you. Immune to arrows (go right thru it) and potions (being magical itself), it can only be attacked via melee. It has a ranged attack -'throw sand'- that makes 2 sand blocks appear over your head and fall on you to suffocate you. These blocks also start making movement difficult as they accumulate. And once you get it down to 75% health (and then 50%, and then 25%), it turns invisible (and/or invulnerable) for several seconds and starts 'running around' randomly (kinda like a peaceful mob does when you hit one, but turned up to 11), destroying sand blocks it runs into. During this, the 'sandstorm' around it thickens and does a lot more damage if it touches you.

I dunno what drops it might have. Hopefully something on par with the Totem of Undying.

and

I was thinking the newer desert temples would indeed be pyramid-shaped. But underground, with the above-ground portion looking identical to the normal desert temple, so you can't tell the difference until you open up that center floor that has the 'well' with the chests in it- in the new temples, it would have stairs going down there instead.

I'm not trying to 'steal' the idea, or take credit for it, just pointing out that Mummies have been requested before, and it's finally time they are a reality, if only thru a mod.

While the effects and new mob (scarabs!) are cool, the black 'dome of darkness' doesn't really seem to 'fit' to me. I'd prefer getting hit with a short (1-2 second) blindness effect if you are within a certain number of blocks of the mummy when he casts it (kinda like the Elder Guardians hit you with Mining Fatigue, refreshing it before it wears off). Step back out of range, and it wears off.

The rest is spot-on: immune to arrows and potions, can rush at you with great speed, etc. Doesn't have the 'drop sand on your head', but the scarabs make a good substitute cause of minor damage if you stay still too long.

I also put forth the idea that the underground part of the temple should be pyramid-shaped (to kinda imply it was a huge above-ground pyramid that got buried over time) with randomly chosen (or procedurally generated) rooms/halls, etc., rather than the procedurally generated 'tunnels and rooms' design in this mod. I can see the advantages either way.

All-in-all, an excellent and well-thought-out mod that finally completes the 'monster' theme- minecraft already has skeletons, zombies, and witches, so Mummies fit perfectly. Mojang- please add to vanilla.

what if minecraft had mummys welcome back to what in the series are I personally right a custom mod for each and every episode just to explore some crazy new ideas in Minecraft today we're gonna take a look at desert temples and some potential new inhabitants now here's a perfect example of temples as they exist now with the Magnificent pyramid and as you travel inside you'll see it's richly detailed interior that's just brimming with mystery and intrigue and of course let's not forget the hidden chamber below which almost definitely hides marvellous untold treasures this has got to be improved now since desert temples have been added to the game they've added much better structures we've got huge procedurally generated mansions now we've got sprawling organic end cities I mean even strongholds aren't that bad okay actually they are but let's cover that another day so what I'm proposing today is a completely new desert temple not some pathetic cluster of buried tnt under a pressure plate I'm talking about a massive ancient temple that is well built interesting to explore and most importantly dangerous now much like the woodland mansions and the N cities this temple would be huge and contain a twisting underground labyrinth that is procedurally generated so that each time you find one it presents a new unique challenge in fact I have all the individual temple room components done and ready to be pieced together right here but I want this to be more than a new collection of pretty rooms to explore I want it to have a purpose an ancient curse temple should have plenty of traps it should have puzzles and of course dangerous new monsters so let's start with some traps because these winding tunnels are going to have a bunch of them so let's take this first room here for an example there seems to be an innocent-looking chest in the middle of the room nothing inside of it ah but there's an eyelid i don't frame on the wall here if you're smart enough or clever enough to take that item and place it in the chest it'll be morning with a little secret staircase leading you to some rewards however if you put any other item in my chest well the rewards are so friendly there's also a room with a sand floor here that once you turn well it's gonna get a little hot we've got rooms full of spider spawners that only spawn invisible spiders we've got rooms that will be shooting full of 100 arrows and of course we've got everyone's favorite jumping puzzle over the deadly pool of molten lava which what could possibly go wrong now for puzzles there are a ton of options but for now I'm gonna focus on the most important one the one that is gonna keep you from experiencing a most horrible death now as you're exploring this underground labyrinth you will eventually discover the burial chamber and in it you will find four sarcophagi or sarcophagi sarcophagus the boxes that very likely contain Evil Dead people in them now if you don't fancy yourself as the next Indiana Jones and you just roll up on in here and open up one randomly things are likely to get bad very bad you see only one chest in here will contain a mummy if you pick the right one he will spawn and you'll have yourself a very intense fight on your hands that is if you're lucky if you're not lucky and open the wrong sarcophagus well let's just say you probably won't be around long enough to regret your foolish decision so then how does an adventurous Tomb Raider like yourself find out which sarcophagus to open that will require some exploration right at the bottom of the drop shaft that leads into the underground temple you'll find some hidden clues on the wall nearby if you don't want to perish here your instructions are pretty clear to find the treasure you desire make sure to set each torch on fire three rooms are there that will reveal what is fake and what is real take notes because although you're strong you'll soon regret it if you are wrong hidden at the deepest points within this underground temple you'll find free special rooms that looks something like this as the riddle upstairs suggested you want to light both of these fire pits now once both of them are lit a mysterious clue will appear out of thin air now remember this symbol closely and find two more just like it elsewhere in the temple then and only then can you return to the burial chamber now inspect each sarcophagus and note the symbols engraved on the top of each the three randomly generated symbols that you discovered from your exploration are warnings as to which of these should remain closed find the sarcophagus with a different symbol on it and when you're ready open it up The Mummy is a truly terrifying enemy with a range of abilities that will definitely keep you on your toes first and possibly its most fearsome attack is its ability to summon a swarm or flesh-eating scarab beetles that will chase after you with incredible speed [Music] [Music] and thank trying to melee these skittering critters instead you better come prepared with some fire or even better you splash potions of healing I mean look at these little cuddly guys don't they look like they make good pets being an evil creature of death The Mummy is also capable of summoning a globe of darkness over itself at will this can be used to protect itself it can aid his scarabs or simply throw the battle into further chaos the effect has a short range however getting outside the sphere you will instantly regain your sight and clearly be able to see the perimeter of the view The Mummy can also harness the power of wind and sand it's capable of hurling a barrage of small sand tornadoes at you if these gusting cyclones beat you or if you simply get too close you're gonna be sent flying across the chamber much to the detriment of your health bar now that Mommy himself obviously isn't very fast it can only limp along as fast as its decaying body and carry it however when the time is right it'll transform itself into a whirling gust of wind and pull itself directly at you as it approaches his true form will reappear where it will likely pummel you with its incredible melee attacks oh and don't think you could just stand back and pluck this thing with arrows its reaction time is quite uncanny and this is only gonna anchor it now many of you know that cats are considered sacred in ancient Egypt well this mummy knows that too and it's terrified of them if it sees one it'll run from it as fast as it possibly can which isn't very fast scar this one's for you buddy so there you have the individual abilities of the mummy now with half the health of a dragon and more melee damage than an iron golem this undead creature is no minor threat so what does it look like when you put it all together let's see [Music] [Music] [Music] and there you go as you can see it's it's a piece of cake right now the question you're all asking is what will the mummy drop what kind of loot are we talking about here well unfortunately I didn't get to it but I did have a few good ideas I think an amulet of undeath would be nice now imagine an amulet that if you wore it on your head slot it would convert nearby zombies into friendly zombies where they fight for you as if they were a pet now each converted zombie would probably have to reduce the durability of the amulet and it wouldn't be repairable all that stuff because it's incredibly powerful but how amazing would that be oh and in case you were wondering what the penalty was for opening the incorrect sarcophagus 160 scarab sound while being plunged into darkness and engulfed in an ever-expanding cloud of not exactly a picnic well there you have it a new mummy and a huge desert temple that I personally love to see added to Minecraft now there of course so many more things that could be added to this including more traps more puzzles and of course more unique monsters we could add a full treasure room and all kinds of stuff so let me know what you think what would you add to this temple or what would you change about the mummy leave a comment and let me know your thoughts and before we go I must give a huge huge thank you to some of my amazing patrons that built this entire incredible temple without them this episode definitely would not have happened so thank you so much guys and that is all I have time for today guys I will see you next time thank you for watching goodbye [Music]
