What If Hades Raised Hercules?

here is a sucker for the little sucker powerful Little Tike what if Hades raised Hercules this is fan scription [Music] Disney's 1997 Hercules movie is not the most fan appreciated or critically praised film from the mouse's Renaissance Era but there are elements from it that people look back on fondly the music is perhaps top of the list while plenty of people including myself remember how great Zero to Hero and the Gospel Choir influence of the muses songs were I personally think Go the Distance is an underrated classic I am on my way I Can Go the Distance when it comes to the characters James Woods's turn as Hades is still thought of as one of the more distinct and fun villain performances from that time period it's cool to see that he still voices the character when he pops up in video games and other supplemental material including staying on for the Hercules spin-off series Danny DeVito made a humorous appearance as Phil and herc himself was a touch Bland but not an awful kid-friendly reinterpretation of the Mythic hero overall even all these years later I still like this movie it's not Aladdin or The Lion King but there's enough stuff to enjoy that makes for a pleasant re-watch which brings me to today's what if this is another case of not necessarily trying to improve the film it's a fun prompt that was suggested a few times and I thought could have some story potential apparently you agreed this idea won a poll on my Twitter way back at the beginning of last year and after a whole trip around the Sun dedicated to Batman and Robin I'm happy to finally be doing something vastly different a word of warning to the Greek mythology Buffs checking this one out just know I'm not reconstructing every character to be closer to how they were in those Legends Disney messed around with a lot of the mythology to fit their means and I'll be doing the same yes I know Heracles is supposed to be the Greek name of the character Hercules is Roman I get that we're sticking with a reimagined version of the Disney property here trust me there will be more significant changes to be concerned about so without further Ado how would the story of herc be different if the lord of the underworld brought up Zeus's strongest son let's find out [Music] long ago in the far away land of ancient Greece there was a golden age of extraordinary Heroes the greatest and strongest of all these Heroes was the mighty Hercules we're going to start off the same as the original movie the muses cut off the narrator and begin to sing about the origin of Earth Zeus defeated the Titans and imprisoned them this time in a part of the actual underworld many years have passed since then and the gods Reign above all life in Olympus only there is unrest in the Kingdom of Zeus while he is the unquestioned most powerful entity in the cosmos and the leader of his peers there is concern over the hierarchy beneath him and some even Whisper of a civil war to quell this Uprising the goddess Hera is offered by most as his perfect match in marriage giving the self-proclaimed ignored portion of the Gods a voice in important Affairs Zeus has infamously refused a wife for eons but even he can see the division forming among his Divine ranks recently there may be another reason for the God's reluctance to marry Hera The Muse is saying that lately Zeus has been sneaking away to Earth the only being who's been able to capture his heart is indeed a human woman yes the god of lightning has fallen in love with a mortal and that's not all his secret human wife alkmani is pregnant very pregnant it's then we cut to the birth of Hercules proud parents look upon their strong son and bask in the miracle of his existence but just outside the house we see two small demon-like creatures spying on the new family pain and panic quickly pop back down to the underworld and whisper in the ear of Hades was in the middle of a conversation with a visiting Hera she voices her doubts of Zeus going through with the marriage the gods both initially blow their Lids upon hearing this news from the surface it's an insane notion the king of the Gods Not only married to a mortal but letting her bear his child they see it as Blasphemous disgusting and The Offspring and Abomination the pair have a strong hatred of of humans that's only usurped by their loathing of Zeus it's Hera who first demands that they take action Hades wants to take over Olympus and Hera wants to destroy her King now more than ever an Unholy Alliance is then formed and a plan is hatched the following night we see that the goddess has sent snakes into alchemini's home to kill both her and her son like in the myth the amazing strength of Hercules reveals itself and he strangles to death two snakes that get close to him a loud scream is heard in the other room Zeus hears it from his throne in Olympus and races down to see his beautiful bride has been slain by a venomous slithering creature as it squirms out of sight he takes alchemini in his arms and Cuddles his lifeless wife before remembering his son the god searches everywhere high low and in between all over Earth the halfling is nowhere to be found assuming he was eaten by one of the snakes Zeus buries alkmani and returns to Olympus inconsolable in the Underworld alchemini's ghostly Essence is shown passing under a small boat as a part of the river sticks the camera moves up to show Haiti's awkwardly holding a sleeping Hercules he smirks as his Sinister smile fills up the screen the muses go on to explain that the son of Zeus was not so easily killed Hera made a deal with Hades to support his claim to Olympus when the time is right if he takes the child into the underworld and keeps him out of their way the goddess will also use this time to find a weakness of Zeus in hopes of doing the impossible killing the King of the Gods Hades begrudgingly agrees and even has ideas how he can use the kid for his own underworld business Hades and baby herc disappear into the depths of Tartarus as we jump back to Olympus and witness the marriage of Zeus and Hera wanting to avoid war and with no living wife the king of the Gods agrees to his Divine Duty and unites his kind but Zeus is never the same The Melancholy deity is devastated by the loss of his family and as the years go by a great Sadness envelops the Earth the once vibrant God has grown neglectful of humankind as much disorder and suffering Reign below him triggering a dark age in the land of Mortals as in the film we time Jump to about a decade and a half later a skinny aging farmer is followed tending to his minuscule diseased crops he's distraught over the ground bearing no food for him his wife and young son the farmer then peers over to his neighbor's property a large Lush Ranch practically gushing with fruits and vegetables clearly jealous he gathers up the few edible bits in front of him and goes off to feed his sickly family an unsatisfying meal that evening he sits outside gazing at his neighbor's farm and looking up to the Stars praying a low Rumble then gets his attention and to his fright Hades Rises up from the infertile dirt before him if you want those prayers answered you better start looking down babe terrified the farmer screams and tries to run back into his home but slams into a figure wearing a black cloak a hood fully covers the shape's face Hades goes on to offer the farmer a trade in exchange for providing him with the luxuriant feels he desires and a way to properly feed his family Haiti simply asks for the farmer's soul he's reluctant at first Hades loses patience finally I want my help good here I am wasting my time answering your prayers which is not even my job by the way and skeleton Steve over here passes up the deal of a lifetime typical typical the farmer watches Hades open up the ground into a staircase as he starts to descend them continuing to complain the tired mortal hears his young child cry inside his home and looks back to his neighbor's ranch with a desperate expression what with his back to the farmer Haiti stops in his tracks and cracks an evil smile the two start to engage in conversation while the hooded figure glances into the farmer's Home the crying child inside is approached by a woman who wipes his tears and softly Embraces him after a moment the boy's anguished face turns to a smile in the arms of his mother the cloaked figure raises his hood to reveal a teenage Hercules staring at the scene with longing eyes in Olympus Zeus pensively sits on his throne when a strange feeling comes over him Hera notices and asks what is it darling he silently moves some clouds aside and glances down to earth searching back at the farm a furious Hades ruins the moment hey the god aggressively tugs the hood back over Hercules face how many times do I have to tell you this kid while we're in Mortal land you never take the hood off do you understand me Zapped of his enthusiasm Hercules answers Yes master on Olympus the Curious feeling leaves Zeus he responds to his wife as he sits back on his throne nothing it was nothing from the top of the seat of the Gods we descend into the underworld and stop in front of Hades dark and twisted Palace situated above the hellscape of Tartarus the God is looking at an open scroll and sees the farmer's land has become fruitful and green as the family celebrates the camera pans over to his neighbor's Farm where that farmer walks out to see his once Green Fields have turned a noxious Brown completely devoid of life the image disappears to reveal a signed contract another happy customer with one more coming right up Hercules is shown moving massive Boulders in front of the palace with Haiti's obnoxiously telling him to move them slightly in each Direction afterwards he scolds Hercules for disobeying him and tells the teenager that he can't take over for him one day if he doesn't follow the rules that God has laid out in the Years leading up to this Hades decided to stick the son of his enemy with the most cruel punishment he could think of after he takes over Olympus Hercules will run the underworld which is why Hades takes him to the surface and an apprentice slash enforcer role Hercules has no desire to inherit the underworld but because of his kind-hearted nature he has made friends with a few Choice Souls floating around down there these interactions have led to his love of humanity and understanding of culture Hercules longs to walk in the world of men the thing that's always dragged his aspirations down has been his mother's mysterious presence in the afterlife the boy often dreams of his mother her face perpetually obscured he can hear her calling for him before awaking to silence Hades always said herc never had a father but his mother is down there somewhere since he never leaves Tartarus Hades has maintained he doesn't know where she is however once herc takes over for him he'll be able to do what he wants and locate her no problem the young man's yearning for an escape contradicts his pining for his mother to torture him Hades exploits this inner conflict after an argument leads to Hercules once again exclaiming his hopes of one day living on the surface that God offers the kid one of his Infamous deals if he can walk all the way up to the entrance of the underworld and step outside without once looking back Hades will let him go determined Hercules walks off leaving the god with a menacing grin as he retires to his Palace this is where we get the first big Go the Distance musical number hurt defiantly sings and the music blares as he ascends past the river of souls scales mountains and traverses endless Caves at last he arrives at the entrance staring down the Monstrous three-headed Hound Cerberus light of the sun is in reach the exhausted teenager Smiles with joy as he makes his attempt at Freedom we hear a voice softly gliding on the wind and reaching Hercules my son I love you child his eyes water and open wide Hercules can't help himself he turns around in hopes of spotting his mother but all he sees are the fiery caverns of death from which he just walked he struggles reaching for the light but is pulled by an unseen Force back to his position in front of the palace he slams into the ground like a meteorite and lays there emotionally broken after a moment anger fills his eyes and he smashes his fist on the Rock he landed up this violently splits the mountain causing it to descend into a sea of magma furious at his master's trick Hercules Paces towards an area he was never allowed Hades his Palace he storms in through the giant doors shouting for the god the boy then searches with purpose every step in boldening him after hearing a noise he finds his way to another pair of doors and busts his way through what he discovers behind them is not Hades it's a girl about his age she steps back in Terror as surprise and shame replace the anger in herc's eyes befuddled he tries to set back up the knocked over doors and apologizes he takes notice of her beauty the girl is wearing a long blue dress her green skin radiates a sense of Eternal blooming after initially being frightened she quickly becomes quite Charmed with Hercules and lets some of her charismatic quick-witted personality rise to the surface he introduces himself and his purpose in the Underworld working for Hades she's surprised to find a living human in the gods employ but is Overjoyed to have someone to talk to there is an obvious connection between the pair right away and they speak for a while herc explaining his storming the palace situation before finally asking her name and why she's locked in the room she seems reluctant to answer before a loud voice booms throughout the palace Hades knocks over the hastily reassembled doors to see Hercules and the girl he's enraged Blue Fire Rises on his head and back what are you doing here father please Kirk is confused father go to your Grove right now intimidated by her father's anger Persephone steps out after sympathetically looking back at Hercules disobeying me again after what you just put me through give me one good reason why I should listen to anything you have to say Hades is a bit taken aback by herc's anger but composes himself and rolls his eyes is this about the mom thing really get over yourself kid we all have to make sacrifices you cannot leave okay I knew you couldn't pass that test consider it a lesson in negotiation never taken offer you can't handle Hercules Squints knowing he can't win the argument he changes the subject so that girl she's your daughter Secrets out Demeter gets her for nine months I get her for three not exactly 50 50 custody but like I said we all gotta make sacrifices as you can see she's a chip off the old Brimstone why do you keep her locked up in here you're joking right Hades opens a shade in the room revealing the burning scope of Tartarus and the tortured Souls wailing in the background he abruptly shuts the shade then starts nudging Hercules out of the palace now if you don't mind I've got some business to get back to on Olympus which is what I was doing before I was so rudely interrupted by you trying to redesign my place here I think you could keep an eye on things without burning the place down burn I kill me he shoves Hercules outside the palace and shuts the massive doors after a few seconds they follow damage by Hercules Rampage Haiti stands there awkwardly for a moment you'll fix us later oh and herc stay away from my daughter disappears in a Flash and Hercules is left with disappointment confusion and a sense of inescapable dread Hercules Persephone is hiding behind the exterior Palace wall and motions for herc to approach her the boy seems worried at first but then looks up to the heavens with a contentious expression and follows the girl in Olympus we see Hades and Hera meeting secretly away from the other gods Hera mentions that Zeus may be at his weakest and now is the time to strike that's when Hades presents her with a magic dagger created by the goddess hecatee in the Underworld forged in secret using Witchcraft and the blood of Titans it's the only object in existence with the potential to take down the king of the Gods she stows it away saving it for the opportune moment Hades leaves to ready his forces when he bumps into demeanor they have a quarrelsome yet humorous back and forth and the style of divorced parents sharing a child a very popular Dynamic for kids entertainment in the 90s Persephone is supposed to return the following week and Demeter is nagging Hades about their daughter not getting into any trouble in the Underworld Hades eventually blows her off and heads back home meanwhile Hercules and Persephone are talking in her Grove it's a rare Speck of calm and Beauty above the Roaring fires of Tartarus we jump into the middle of their conversation where it's apparent their backgrounds have been explained to one another Persephone pity circules and relates to him a bit for his never-ending life of servitude to her father only ending and the teenager eventually taking over the one place he's desperate to leave the court that strikes her most though is herc's story about his mother he feels as if he can't truly let go of the underworld until he finds her that's when Persephone tells him of the path to the other lands she hasn't traveled far on that road but she knows all about it through the books in her father's Palace since she's stuck there for three months out of the Year studying those texts is one of the only hobbies that keeper occupied the girl encourages Hercules to travel on the path and start the search she can see he wants to but something is holding him back well Hades Persephone's rebellious Spirit takes over to Tartarus with my dad tell you what big guy I'll go with you what are you serious what about your mom hey I'm practically a fully grown goddess I can take care of myself besides you can protect me Hercules laughed nervously but can see she's serious that's crazy we don't really know what's out there reading a book is one thing do you want to find your mom or not Persephone's confidence rubs off on Hercules and after pondering a few seconds he nods his head then let's go quickly before hot hot gets back Hercules takes one last glance at Tartarus a look of resolve crosses his face and he runs off with Persephone the pair tried their best to make sure none of hades's minions see them the god of the underworld returns home to find neither Persephone or Hercules anywhere in Tartarus this temper boils over in spectacular fashion as he calls pain and panic to search for them ah I don't have time for this I've got a throne to claim in a both visually stunning and disturbing scene Hades calls forth his army of the Dead nearly every soul in Tartarus and plenty of his demonic underlings flock to his side together they all follow him to the surface in Olympus Zeus senses the coming attack and calls forth his forces gods and goddesses form Rank and begin to fend off the attacking Souls Zeus is surprised to see that Hades is leading the attack as he leaves to confront him Hera stays behind smirking Hades and Zeus meet each other at the gates of Olympus you're in my seat Hades stop this madness what do you think you're doing you sad pathetic fool didn't see this coming huh maybe if you were paying attention instead of sulking over your disgusting mortal wife you could have kept that chair how did you know about oh Zeus I know everything I've been torturing you in ways you don't even know about yet and there's a lot more punishment to come from Hades lunges forward blew fire taking over the screen as we Fade to Black foreign [Music] what's happening on the surface Hercules and Persephone cautiously proceed down the path leading away from Tartarus the first big test is coming up against the furies guarding the entrance to the rest of the underworld after failing to talk them down a battle sequence ensues it's a very difficult fight for Hercules but he is able to incapacitate two of them the third seems to have the upper hand when Persephone shoots a fireball at her knocking The Entity out the daughter of Hades is shocked at her action it's not something she's ever done before and was triggered by the emotion of the moment before they can even question what just happened they run off hoping to be far away before the furies wake up what follows is a montage of the next three years set to a musical number it can be Zero to Hero or something new that more closely describes what's occurring on screen we see Hercules and Persephone travel through the whole of the underworld I'm talking White Rock Cove asfidel Meadows Elysium the Isle of the bless the various Rivers all of it these locations range from strange and bizarre to vast and breathtaking a majority the final reward for those who have lived inoffensive and or exceptional lives the pair encounter beasts Heroes and more on their travels this includes hurricane Persephone defeating monsters and gaining battle experience which gives them a reputation around the underworld in this fictional Universe this time period would be where a Disney animated series could even take place they make friends with dead humans and demigods who aren't trapped in Tartarus many of whom know who Persephone is and can tell there's something more to Hercules than just being a super strong mortal however none of them know who herc's mother is much less where to look for ever committed to their goal the pair Forge ahead with their search of the Limitless Realm Hercules and Persephone are young adults now looking more aged up with slightly different attire there are romantic undertones to their interactions but Hercules always avoids these feelings focusing on trying to find his mother he still dreams of her nightly and those Visions have been getting stronger lately as they continue their hunt below We rise to the surface of Earth where the years have not been kind the war between Hades and Zeus has raged on for all this time while there have been battles won on both sides the seemingly unbreakable stalemate has not relented Mortals have been paying the price the most as entire cities were decimated under the sheer power of the Gods clashing hope is in short supply the future looking dim for humans Hades has taken hold near the entrance of the underworld abdicating many of his Godly duties which has begun to cause chaos and Tartarus and the rest of his domain dark Spirits also roam free on Earth adding another point of concern for surviving Mortals but all the Mayhem around him doesn't concern Hades he only cares about one thing the stubborn deity refuses to stop until he defeats Zeus and takes Olympus for his part Zeus has become just as stubborn his Melancholy attitude has given way to hatred and Vengeance worse yet he's become indifferent to a world crying out for help Hera has waited patiently to strike with hecate's dagger Always by her side she's constantly on the lookout for an opening however with Zeus consumed by War the King has left little to no opportunity for betrayal he's on high alert as murmurs of a mutiny roll across his Godly ranks unknowingly stoked by his own wife suffice to say there looks to be no end in sight in the war for Olympus on their way to another area in the Underworld Hercules and Persephone get lost and their boat washes ashore a Mysterious Island covered in dense fog they carefully walk onto the surface but are separated in the Mist Hercules starts to see peculiar things and shakes off a feeling of drowsiness that's when he hears a whisper in his ear know where she is he turns to see no one I Know Who You Are Hercules turns the opposite way still all alone show yourself forming out of the fog is a man with angels Wings pure white skin and long black hair he introduces himself as Morpheus the god of Dreams he's been influencing herc's visions of his mother all along and has guided him to his current location the land of dreams Morpheus is eggnogmatic but has a lot of Charisma and pops in and out of the space around the person he's talking to he first tells Hercules of his true parentage Zeus the king of the Gods is his father he goes on to explain the halfling's entire origin Hades and Hera working together the death of his mother the war everything Hercules doesn't want to believe it but he can feel that it's all true seeing and influencing everyone's dreams Mortals and gods alike Morpheus knows almost everyone's inner desires and aspirations such as Hercules feelings for Persephone herc gets angry for a moment but his strength has no use in the land of dreams Morpheus says he knows the location of alchemini and he'll give it to Hercules under one condition if he's ever able to overthrow Hades Hercules must install Morpheus as the god of the underworld perk's not sure he can trust the God but he feels he doesn't have a choice and accepts his terms Morpheus smiles and Fades away with another whisper the fields Hercules snaps awake he's still on the boat with Persephone more bad dreams he breathes heavily I know where to go the pair travel along the river for a few days as Hercules updates Persephone on almost everything Morpheus told him leaving out a few details about his parentage Darkness grows around them the closer they get to their destination and loose Spirits are increasingly seen with the war above still raging the underworld is in disarray more humans have perished in the last few years than in the last century combined some Souls have no place to go so they roam about others left in Tartarus have escaped to the Heavenly domains and torment the people reaping their reward ultimately the pair make it to the correct Shore and enter a highly wooded area pained howls and the sound of weeping could be heard getting louder the deeper they walk into the forest eventually they find a pit with men women and children pacing without a Direction they look like zombies in an eternal state of sadness Hercules tells Persephone to go no further he has to handle this himself the half God Wades through the field hoping that he'll be able to recognize his mother through her Visage in his dreams soon he starts to hear a voice he recognizes my son for my boy help me dreams for years Hercules has found his mother [Music] he pushes past a few wandering souls and grabs his mother by her shoulders mother it's me I'm your son Hercules she stares into his eyes for a moment a look of recognition pierces through Hercules a wide smile brightens the Sun's face but the look of recognition in alchemini's eyes Fades she regresses to her previous empty expression please help me I'm looking for my son the other lost souls bump into the reunited mother and child separating them mother alchemini slips out of sight no matter how hard Hercules searches he can't find her he begins to mirror the wandering of the other Souls falling into the same trance repeating the call for Alchemy just as all seems lost Persephone grabs him by the shoulder struggling she pulls him while pushing through the horde of spirits they reach the edge of the pit but she can't bring them back up the ledge Hercules there's a little help here as more wandering ghosts begin to separate them perk snaps out of it grabs Persephone and leaps out of the pit they fall over exhausted panicked by the ordeal we cut to them hours later on another River watching as more Spirits invade asphidel and Elysium Hercules comes to a sad realization I have to stop this how you can't leave the underworld he I doubt Zeus and Hades are going to stop because a bodybuilder with a nice smile asks them nicely Zeus might listen why he's my father Persephone stares in disbelief who told you that Morpheus you can't trust him true Persephone look around you I have to try she looks out at the Bedlam unfolding in every direction worried she peers back at him starting to tear up you'll die then I guess I'll see you soon Maybe what happens to a soul when there's no more room in the Underworld I don't know they gaze into each other's eyes Hercules breaks away like so many times before my mother's lost there's nothing keeping me here anymore nothing a sense of the inevitable comes over them as they lock eyes again Persephone steps closer and softly kisses Hercules a kiss years in the making colorful swirling Spirits Fly Above them and are reflected in the water under the boat it floats aimlessly in the river making for a tragic yet beautiful moment Persephone pulls away with her arms still around Hercules neck don't look back Hercules absorbs her words as a familiar determination takes him over he looks ahead jumping out of the boat and onto the land nearby the demigod Paces away disappearing into the Horizon as Persephone takes a deep breath her eyes once again shift to an underworld in Anarchy fiery blue lights up her hands as she jumps into The Fray attacking the spirits invading from Tartarus this is where we get a powerful and emotional reprise of Go the Distance Hercules walks climbs swims and fights on his road all the way back to Tartarus every obstacle that gets in his way is smashed to bits or ignored as he never keeps his eyes off his destination this journey takes much longer than his first try and that's apparent in the changing Landscapes he traverses he leaps over streams of magma and scales mountains until we see the same flaming Caverns from earlier after walking them for what seems like days he's reached the entrance of the underworld all that stands in his way is the triple-headed dog Cerberus once again the voice of his mother calls out to him my son no I need you this time another voice faintly creeps into his ear Hercules we can rule here together I love you Persephone's tones almost get the son of Zeus to look back but he stops himself shaking with temptation and sweating bullets he again looks at Cerberus matching the hounds growling gritted teeth cutting to the surface Zeus and the gods from Olympus are locked in a costly battle with Hades and his underworld forces Mortals flee from the fight but many of them don't get away in time as buildings crumble and another city destroyed by the war a temple to Zeus is blown to Smithereens and the large Stone head in the king's likeness rolls to Zeus's feet he looks up to see haters holding a flickering flame in his hand with all their lieutenants engaged in smaller conflicts throughout the battlefield this is the first time they've been able to directly confront each other in a long long while sorry gotta make room for the new Temple do you think these slugs will carve my hair right this has gone far enough finally something we can agree on it's time to pack it in Bolt boy your time is over overhead the sky's black it as violent Thunder shakes the Earth and wild lightning pierces the clouds everyone takes notice of Zeus Rising off the ground his eyes filled with bolts of Fury Hades then heats up blue and orange fire grow from within even his Godly abilities pale in comparison as Zeus continues to gather all his strength lightning strikes the ground more frequently in a terrifying display of the king's true power his voice Echoes throughout the city I gave you chance after chance to peacefully surrender and every time you spat in my face if you won't yield then I suppose you the earth and the underworld can start from scratch Zeus raises his arm over his head lightning flowing to his hand Hades is scared out of his mind laughing nervously wait wait we can talk about this coming the guy it's me goodbye Hades every being below gasps at the raw might of the king of the Gods Mortals and Immortals alike bracing themselves for potential destruction Zeus throws his arm forward and a massive blast of lightning surges forth just before it hits the ground something jumps in the way and a flash of white blinds everyone when it fades we see Hercules surging with lightning and mounting atop Cerberus he watches as the electricity collapses in on itself within his closing fist the young man is astonished at this result the crowd of gods and humans share that astonishment Hades takes a moment to recover before identifying who stands in front of him Hercules what are you doing here how did you where did you you're welcome hears the word spoken below and floats down laying eyes on the man above the Beast there's no denying the truth it can't be the gods look amongst each other speaking quietly about who the mystery man could be Hercules looks to his father with an almost ashamed confirmation Haiti shoves him aside and breaks the mood number one get off my dog number two March that new Meathead of yours back down to the underworld and stay there until I get back the underworld Hades looks to Zeus who's walking in his Direction backing the god up slowly you kept my son living in the Underworld all this time that's right he was my little lap dog the son of Zeus begging for treats fair trade after you sent me down there all those eons ago it was fun almost as much fun as when we killed your repulsive human life Zoo stops sickening sound of Steel piercing flesh reverberates in the air the shock of everybody Zeus collapses to reveal Hera standing behind him hecatee's dagger sticks out of Zeus's back Hercules rushes to his father's side inconceivably the king of the Gods is fading father how is this possible I should have been there you and your mother I should have protected you I failed in more ways than one my boy I'm sorry Zeus's body quickly corrupts before dissolving into small bolts of lightning that rapidly dissipate the dagger drops to the ground where here's hand picks it up [Laughter] they die who cares Hades and Hera begin to laugh uncontrollably the other deities recoil as the underworld forces surround them Hercules stands up and draws a sword ready to go down swinging before he's attacked Hera speaks up no the half breed is mine She Moves In but stops when the ground begins to rumble the earth below then cracks open an immeasurable amount of spirits fly through the air with no one at the helm the underworld can no longer contain the unruly Souls at the center of this storm is Persephone her skin is now a blue gray sparking with a mix of green and blue fire as she floats above the separated Earth Demeter on Earth with the other gods sees her daughter and is both surprised and Overjoyed Persephone seems to have some level of control over the spirits as her father fights her influence over them it looks like hell on Earth as the struggle continues with humans and gods caught in the middle Hades begins to win out when Hercules grabs Persephone's hand slowly perk's skin turns the same Hue as Hades his eyes light up with fire and together the pair gained the upper hand spending his entire life in the Underworld the spirits recognize and gravitate toward Hercules with the blood of Zeus flowing through his veins and the blood of Hades flowing through Persephone they're the perfect match to battle the king of the underworld eventually all of the forces under Hades stand behind the children of the Gods and are commanded to return to the underworld through the rupture most ascended Hercules steps forward and inspires the Olympians as he clashes with Hades one on one during their fight Hercules goes out of his way to bring as many humans to safety as possible which disgusts Hades Hera attacks Persephone giving the younger goddess more of a run for her money than she thought in the ensuing fight just when Hades has herc on the ropes Zeus's lightning powers begin to manifest themselves and the half God crackles with electricity ultimately Hercules defeats Hades with his father's signature force of nature as Persephone bests Hera the gods of Olympus and the underworld all bear witness to their bravery resolve compassion and power together they command the spirits back to drag Hades Kicking and Screaming into Tartarus and imprison him with the Titans there he's forever trapped surrounded by mocking human spirits confiscating the dagger from Hera Persephone uses her combined powers of the underworld and rebirth to reach form the blade and approaches Hera crawls back in fear pleads for her not so Immortal Life covers her eyes and raises her hand with the gods watching Persephone simply Pricks Harris finger slowly she transformed all her Godly Powers evaporate and the once proud queen of the gods appears as nothing more than a mortal for Hera it's a fate worse than death she screams in humiliation and runs off Hercules is satisfied and joins Persephone with the war over and order in the Underworld restored their appearances shift back to what they looked like previously the gods all begin to Bow as the son of Zeus and the daughter of Hades are hailed as Heroes Demeter breaks through to hug her daughter squeezing her a bit too tight before complimenting Hercules and taking care of her and asking when the wedding is Persephone blushes embarrassed we Fade to some time later Hercules and Persephone are married in Olympus they've been unanimously named new king and queen of the gods a job they both reluctantly accept with Zeus's true Heir on the throne and Persephone's well-respected Heritage and power no one questions their claims however the couple decides to rule very differently Hercules spends half his time on Earth finally exploring the Dominion of man like he always wanted he becomes a great protector of the people and Humanity's Dark Age ends with the hopeful half God in power while he's not quite as Invincible as his peers in Olympus The Legend of Hercules on Earth still speaks of a strong and generous deity who walks Between Two Worlds perk honored his deal to install Morpheus as the new Lord of the underworld and we see him high above the Palace of Hades he lets out a morally ambiguous echoing laugh that bounces off the mountains and targets the afterlife reign of the god of Dreams has begun with all their connections there Hercules and Persephone visit often to see their friends on one trip we see the king and queen now a bit older bring down their newborn son to Elysium where a happy alchemini greets them finally reunited with his mother and having a new family of his own Hercules looks out over the vast Paradise in front of him content somehow he can feel his father's joy in the air as the narrator returns to say the hero lived out his days as a good king and a good man the muses celebrate with an uplifting song as the credits roll [Music] this was a fun and challenging story to write I was trying my best to juggle a darker Disney tone with a little bit more of a mythological and surreal flavor just as Zeus and Hera aren't siblings in the movie I'd either not explicitly mention or just omit entirely the relation of Hades and Zeus that way hurricane Persephone's relationship is less incesty but hey Greek mythology is full of that so I guess it'd be more accurate to the source material huh I know a lot of you guys probably miss Meg Phil and Pegasus in this version but I wanted to really shake things up adding in this reimagined Persephone and her function in the Underworld sort of made Phil redundant you could say Hercules ran into our favorite Seder in Hades at some point maybe he'd be a supporting character in the spin-off show believe me I wanted to add so many more mythological figures and side plots to this but 90 minute fan scriptions just aren't possible every month I had to scale back on a lot of ideas for characters like Perseus Ares the fates the three judges hecatee ifacles Demeter Morpheus and more but I do like what we ended up with also I hope it came across that Zeus wasn't the most noble of deities I wanted to combine some of his less desirable characteristics from the myth with what was shown in the Disney version to give him more of a morally mixed Arc you might feel bad for him but he did end up being a pretty horrible king after alchemini's death and sent the world below him into a similar dark path as of now I don't think I'll do a sequel to this but if you guys really want one I'd probably get Poseidon in there as a major player with Morpheus taking on a much expanded role we'll see for now we all wait on Disney's live-action remake to see where they take the
