[Music] a lot of these ideas are pretty in the forefront alcohol like they're not extremely hidden mechanics however some of the stuff behind it may have hidden aspects you don't necessarily understand right away and hopefully this video can just accelerate your learning and understanding therefore you don't have to spend as long now these are things that did not take me 600 hours to learn but these are things that are very solidified after 600 hours so once again it didn't take me 600 hours to learn number one before we get to number one though as usual please like subscribe and comment down below if you really like this channel please support on patreon i'd like to see your experience as well so please comment or build upon some of the points i have here so we can as per the norm create a video for the community rather than just something about spewing my professed knowledge of this game number one scouting is king it's pretty obvious i mean you obviously know it's a helpful mechanic but there's a little more behind the scenes that aren't exactly brought up right away that i think is extremely important for you to know so as i said scouting has way more perks than a parent by detecting traps and seeing future fights those things are great and one of those being obviously you're going to detect secret rooms and medium or larger dungeons which they let you know as well however some of the possible hidden mechanics you didn't know right off the bat are you can never be surprised by a fight that's scouted and you get a 25 increase to surprise monsters when scouted this is why scouting can get so ridiculous essentially you're never surprised you can get more surprises which allows you to four tax on the enemy before they imagine even going therefore scouting is not something that should be an afterthought but something on the forefront right after party composition because if you can kill stress damage dealers or set up your party to reduce stress damage obviously that's the last stuff you're about to heal in town and possible inflictions the light level also affects scouting and i don't think the game has those numbers broken down however go to the wiki obviously bright light more scouting once you go to dark light i believe it's zero if not negative therefore double check on what those numbers are exactly however if you really want to focus on scouting always keep bright light when you enter a room it doesn't really matter what's in the hallway we're after a fight it's upon entering so don't think you're going to be able to use torches or skills during a fight and still get that same bonus i believe it's only when you enter because you can actually enter a battle room fail it retreat back out and still scout i believe which is another weird little nugget of knowledge for you number two stop focusing on hp please understand the word focusing in this sentence hp is obviously important but not the most headache inducing problem especially in the late game it may be tempting to focus on keeping people alive at no no matter the cost which may end up creating party compositions that are slower were always reactive sometimes the reactive parties can get a couple of bad roles against them and still result in a death or massive amounts of affliction some quicker striking parties with an emphasis of taking down stress damage dealers is what you need because the stress you can heal with stress healing skills is often not comparable to the stress damage still for example cultist switches with a trinket on can do anywhere between 22 and 24 stress damage in one go and most stress healing skills in the game are probably going to do between like eight and twelve therefore you're going to need two rounds to counteract one if she lives twice she can possibly give you between 40 and 50 stress in one turn which is way too much and often these stress damage deal are set in positions three and four therefore if you don't really have any stuns pools or shuffles or good attacker diversity you're gonna severely lack that and if you're always bringing a jester and a vestal you're really never gonna be able to get to the fourth position well therefore having someone like an occultist or a plague doctor having those good stuns shuffles or pools are going to help your party avoid a lot of future stress damage and allow you to speed up your fights a little more if you want an intense breakdown of this i do have a full stress guide so please check down in the description and comment down below as i'll post that but i don't want to take any more time on going into all the intricacies of how to handle stress damage but this general idea is yes obviously people die to go to death's door however afflictions will cost you quirks time and may not even allow you to finish the dungeon either number three swapping skills mid dungeon sounds silly and super obvious but it honestly took me a while to realize this just switch the skills this may not be as prevalent in the beginning of the game as you may not own all the skills you want and you may not even need to depending on what you got however as you unlock more skills this usually tends to be useful for boss dungeons as you'll have your normal dungeon set up and then you'll have your boss dungeon setup so don't feel like you have to go with your boss dungeon setup and then realize oh wait i could have had a normal setup the whole time swapped them off right before the boss just a small fyi make sure you change the skills the amount of times i have not changed skills when i wanted to far too many and far too many times gone on camera however you can still change that so you even go into a dungeon you realize whoops i was experimenting with skills just i in my party composition these are not the ones i want don't worry you can change them after the fight or right before it number four turn out the bodies it's almost always a common tip everyone gives but it's so true that it needs to be stated again mass dismissals in early game is almost as necessary but definitely beneficial it saves money at the end of the day which is something you don't have a massive in the beginning of the game not everyone has to get dismissed by heroes with really bad quirks where high stress are not worth keeping around and paying all the funds and fines for because your facilities are really bad and they're also very expensive therefore turn out those people in the beginning if you're not on a crunch time such as the hardest difficulty in the game there's really no need once again i'll say it again do not keep people like klepto perfection you know anything that causes them less criticals reduces hp it's not worth it even some diseases are honestly not worth putting them in for a week and getting rid of as that's just money so if you don't want them just get rid of them also one other fact for this is your party roster is extremely small in the beginning of the game so if you start even keeping half of every party you take in within four to five weeks you may have literally filled up your stagecoach of people you may not like therefore increase the stagecoach to plus four people right at the beginning is essential as you can just send all four of them in and if you want get rid of all of them and just keep doing that until you amass some money and heirlooms and you can progress your town along and you can progress along some people as well this is tip 4.5 and it's called don't buy all the skills and if you have the time and if you do a medium or long dungeon to get a lot of heirlooms i personally like to just get the bare minimum and what i mean by that is if you have resolves to get what resolves two can get but do not buy the skills after that even if you have people hit resolve three and you don't plan on using them don't buy stuff or resolve three yet therefore if you have portraits left over and stuff like that do the cheaper price along the whole time because if you're going to cultivate a lot of people coming up save your money now because like i said you don't need that resolve 3 stuff yet so that's tip 4.5 don't buy every skill for every hero often they only need about five max and some heroes can honestly get away with four don't buy all seven just because it's available you think oh one day one like that if you if you do have that scenario pick one of the variations of people and make them that so you don't have to buy all the skills and then just use them in those very specific scenarios number five understand speed and dodge i know they're simple mechanics but man is darkest dungeon essentially ruled by speed and dodge these are the two things you want to really focus on accuracy it's pretty understandable but speed and dodge have a i don't want to say a hidden aspect but they can be kind of misleading on the forefront so let's talk about them real quick as per the norm speed is a random number one through eight plus your current speed therefore this is how your 10 speed can lose to a six speed and the reason why this is so important to understand is it allows you to predict everyone's turn order thus your stuns pools and damage abilities are able to be focused on the next man up rather than guessing who's going on their next lineup this is extremely important especially for stress damage dealers where people you know are going to protect therefore you can get ahead of the protection by stunning or you can obviously kill the person that's going to be protected and it's real simple about dodge the number is not a percentage if you have 40 dodge we'll talk about what that actually means so all attacks what they're displayed is not their actual accuracy everything gets a plus five thus that's why in the game a 95 chance to hit is always 100 because it's 95 plus five it's a hundred so a dodge of 40 against a total accuracy of 110 so it's 105 plus 5 110 is a 70 chance to hit you have a 30 chance to dodge not the 40 that is shown that is just a number it is not a percentage that's all i'm gonna say about that number six stalling for days the more you play you'll realize kill first heal and replayer at the end this is why i think reactive styles are maybe a little more common the beginning of the game because you're a little you take everything at the same line there's no ramp up and then bring down what i mean by that is my first couple of turns now is just all-out offensive if i could heal stress i don't even bother doing it i get down to the last enemy or two and then i just stun out the enemy for a turn or two if i do have large amounts of hp or stress to heal this is why speed reducers and stuns are crucial at the end of fights to allow for stress healing and generic healing to occur it may be tempting the beginning of the game to kill as quickly as possible without doing that extra step because you're like oh they hurt me so bad they stress me out i just want everyone dead hold off on that last person or two now if you don't have any great control where if they are a huge stress damage dealer and you can only control them every other turn consider controlling them for one turn and then killing them number two and six here should have pretty common threads throughout my stress guide number seven aoe criticals on dead bodies momentum this one is an odd one but can have some nice stress heals reduction near the ends of fight we're in the middle of fights the abilities i often use on this are hugh hounds harry and zealous accusation as they are naturally some of the characters i already play and hounds harry is actually one of the best at this because it obviously hits all four critical strikes on dead bodies alone do not stress heal if you are able to hit another enemy while doing a critical strike to a dead body it actually does stress heal now the weird thing is you don't get a critical buff but you get a critical stress heal which is three hp i'm gonna try to find footage of this but sometimes it's just real nice you're down to a super high protection based enemy in the end there's a dead body or two right behind them you can get some real cheap stress heal in there and just something i've personally picked up on and it has saved me a little stress in the past number eight battle rooms aren't that scary i actually just made a video summarizing my other video about this it's room statistics i'll put once again both of these down in the comment description below if you want to see a little more about them but don't be scared to pick just explore missions in the beginning of the game they sound easier because you're like oh i just gotta explore i just gotta get through i don't have to take a lot of fights because learning the fights is very difficult because you don't know what the enemies do there's four different types of dungeons so you gotta learn all sets of enemies in there i get that however short battle rooms are actually one of your best options and then you can do explore medium as they are your best as well however definitely don't be scared to take some fights as they give you a lot of money a lot of heirlooms and they give you a lot of practice on enemies you have to fight throughout the rest of the game number nine one to snuff out the torch this one's pretty important i have this one in my six tips video as well but this is something you're definitely gonna make a lot of money on so let me just reiterate again i'm not a huge fan of torture runs therefore i incorporate this idea into it i can kind of get a torchless fight or two while keeping everything in bright light and pretty safe all things considered now scenarios if you're doing a battle room or plan on doing a campfire after a battle room or hallway fight snuff out the torch before the last enemy dies as it is the ending torch level that determines the loot not the average throughout the fight or the start at the whole fight this can obviously then be increased with a campfire or four torches or if you time this perfectly it's the last fight to the dungeon you know this because you've scouted the whole dungeon you say this is my last battle room i'm gonna kill the torch on the last enemy get all that extra loot and not worry about wasting other money on getting the torch back up or worry about using my campfire and also another thing for hallways generically if you get a lot of scouting going or if you finish the dungeon your lights low you know you left two to three curious behind because you weren't sure how close you were to finishing the dungeon such as you were doing an objective mission you don't know when you're gonna find the last objective or if you don't know how many battle rooms were left and you surprisingly finish a little quicker snuff out that torch or keep it low and then go get all those curios a lot of extra money doesn't take a lot of extra time just obviously be careful about taking fights in the amount of food however snuff out that torch and go collect that money number 10 the random things actions left disarming chance and curios so first off the actions are indicated by the yellow bars you might be like will you the on the off chance you missed that it's extremely important because obviously you can see how many moves people have who's gone who's gonna go and who still can go so it's very important understand that disarming chance is really nice you pretty much get an idea of who's really good at disarming but if you ever play on the pc you can actually hover over the trap icon as you walk up to a trap and it shows you the exact chance of disarming that trap which is really nice because if you don't have something like the grave robber bounty hunter or highwayman which we all pretty much know to our hearts are almost always 100 that's when you get down to people possibly like a jester where they have a high chance but it's exactly 100 or if you use someone really dumpy and slow like a vessel what is her actual chance without a trinket increasing her trap disarm chance and finally curios this is always a big one and the reason i didn't have it up here before is this one you can obviously learn over time or if you don't have time to do that you can always go to the wiki and familiar sides of all the curios as fast as possible if it was up to me i always think this game is best learned through trial and error however you don't have a lot of time or if that's not your personality to essentially bash your head against the wall because you just don't know that's perfectly fine just go check out the wiki for what each curio does because curious trying to make all your dungeons a easier and be the amount of loot from some you get you absolutely need to do tip 11 shamblers hurt just for fun screw champion shamblers if you're gonna do shamblers you want to get all the ancestral stuff tackle them early because that resolve too you're essentially god tier level as your equipment and skills are usually way above you can actually stun this chamber decently well depending on the trinkets and character you have with you and obviously some of the damage output can also kill them quicker so if you're gonna go shambler hunting i actually recommend it in the apprentice level not so much veteran and champion level shamblers are definitely painful if you're not building an exact party with campfire upgrades to kill them in my honest opinion and my one last little tip for shambler hunting mess up your party before you get into the shambler the chandler will always auto scramble you so if you actually mess up your party to almost the worst you may actually get to almost where you had it we're at least darn close near it so mess up your party before you go in because you may be gifted with your exact party lineup you want number 12 this may be a possible spoiler because it's near the end game if you don't want to hear anything about near the end game please stop watching here so thank you for watching like and subscribe below comment all that stuff you don't really care about spoilers we've already been in the game obviously feel free to continue to number 12 here number 12 there's a secret room in the final dungeon that's right i actually didn't even know that within the first 600 and someone said you know you do realize there's a secret room with a letter from red hook and no i actually did not know that finally verified on the wiki and i actually i do plan on doing that i have one last playthrough to do i think it's on radiant so it shouldn't be too terribly difficult it was kind of my mess around with party roster and stuff then i just ended up playing it anyways so here we are but those are all my tips i already did my outro before so thank you so much for watching like and subscribe below you
